When you do sync with Exhange, it tells your device what services to provide.
For the services you list, you (your IT) need to be running Exchange Server 2007.
2003 with the SP patch will let you use push (SMS -> sync) but not the flags etc.
Until then the controls will not appear - we went through this before the 2003 SP.

Nope ... no luck there ... under Outlook view (Exchange 2003 push):
Menu
-> Tools
-> Sorty By
-> Manage Folders ...
-> Clear "Outlook E-mail" [greyed out]
-> New Account ...
-> Options ...

But no Search nor OOF.

Hello,

You need Exchnage 2007 for many new feature of WM6 like :

HTML email, Search by server, remote file access etc...

Even SP1 for Exchange 2007 will bring a bunck of new feature :

Enforcing encryption of main memory contents on device
Enforcing which applications are allowed/blocked from running on the device
Enforcing networking capabilities: disable wifi, Bluetooth, infrared, external storage
Enforcing communication capabilities: disable SMS, MMS, POP/IMAP, disable camera

Hi
when i try to play a video MMS it only plays 5 seconds of the video but when i manually save the video it plays the whole 30 seconds. Is that a registry tweak or something ?

Hi !

I tried to upgrade ROM to version XDA-Live (v0.20.1). Till 75% everything went smoothly, but then it hanged. I did what was asked (remove USB, take out battery), but now when I switch it on, startup stops to the white HTC-screen.

I have also tried hard boot, but with same results.

What next ?

unzip and copy these files to windows folder and soft rest. Network wiz should be avalible in settings-> connections

Is this a solution for the greyed out Datalink in the Connection Manager?

WMXL v0.30 will be a pretty clean build, most of the additional Apps will be gone (as we've seen how they don't save storage memory in WM6).

Putting files in ROM does save storage memory. What you did wrong, was putting these files into initflashfiles.dat, so they actually got copied from "\Windows\" to "\Program Files\" and finally took both space in ROM and storage memory. I managed to free up to 5MB without removing anything from the ROM. I just fixed the shortcuts so that they point directly to the \Windows directory, removed the copy commands from initflashfiles.dat and I got all the programs working just fine :)

Hi,
I have installed version 0.20 and can't get MMS working. It only says "Error Syncronizing". I have installed my normal cab file with my provider settings and if I check the mms settings manually they seem to be ok. My GPRS/data connection is working fine.

I have tried to do a hard reset and test MMS with no additional applications installed but still the same problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Richard

Hello, like many said, I got the exact same issue here.

I saw no one is addressing it, which makes me wonder if this has been replied already 1000 times. Sorry if this is the case. I still got to go through the first 400 posts.

All you guys having problem with MMS...

Have you set up a dedicated MMS connection as per your network's requirements? Most networks require you to use a dedicated MMS access point and credentials to access their MMS service. This is in addition to the MMS settings in messaging.

Usually you set up a connection to MMS in the "private" network area as a new connection - then set private back to connect to "work" - but then in MMS settings you tell it to use the MMS connection you created.

Hi,

Connect the phone to the pc via USB and try going into Bootloader mode on the phone, (press and hold left "ok" and right "power" buttons and do a soft reset). This should present you with a screen showing 3 broad bands of colour. In this bootloader screen you will see some numbers, on the second row you will see either 1.4, 1.6 or 1.9 (i think). This is the CID and depending on your version this may/may not work for you, mine is 1.4 and worked fine.

Assuming you have 1.4 you can try re-installing a shipped ROM back onto your phone to get it back up and running. I think taking it back to the shop now might be tricky as you will have most probably invalidated your warranty by flashing the phone.
I was in the same place last week (mine fell over at 66%) and now the phone is back up and running.

I used the Orange Romanian ROM here;
http://rapidshare.com/files/17338987/HER_ORRO_123702_1060400_WWE_SHIP.exe

when you start the update process you will see an “invalid vendor id” error on the computer screen, don't panic. Do the following steps (lifted from the Wiki);

Flashing instructions if you are in bootloader 1.04 and get a INVALID VENDOR ID error:
Try the following steps:

Open ROMUpgradeUT.exe
Go through all steps. Eventually you will see your device reset and go into a ROM Flash screen at 0%. You should get an error from the Flash software stating wrong Vendor ID code.
Don't disconnect the device or reset it. Close the Flash software.
Click on ROMUpgradeUT.exe again and go through all steps. This time it should start flashing the ROM.
That's it.

Hope this is of some help. I would advise looking through the Wiki, your CID number is quite crucial for this to work from what i gather; i re-installed WM 6 from the Orange ROM, so far so good. I am no expert, i gleaned all this from the Wiki but i know this worked for me, good luck,

Yes, at least I have two connections defined. One for GPRS and one for MMS, as installed by Telenor's cab file. This worked in my original shipped rom and in the AKU 3.3 swedish test rom. I applied the same settings in 0.10 (vanilla) but I actually don't know if MMS worked there or not ... will see if I get the time tonight to check ...

I also had some wierd problems when using HTweakC when setting "Enable GPRS/G3 auto attach" and set "connection always on". Then I kept getting notifications that WM needs to close the gprs/data connection in order to be able to connect and check/download MMS. I answered yes to that notification 20 times or so, but it never stopped asking ... so I used HTweakC again to disable both "Enable GPRS/G3 auto attach" and set "connection always on" and then the gprs/data connection stopped working. Couldn't get it to work again so I hade to hard reset and then apply provider cab for gprs/MMS settings. GPRS/data working normal again but still no MMS.

So your previous settings worked but your GPRS always on overrode the manual "disconnect" for new MMS's. I am sure I saw somewhere a setting to allow simultaneous connections...

But in the meantime, next stage is to make sure your MMS settings are correct in the MMS account settings in messaging and that the MMS accoutn is set to use the MMS data connection.

Thanks for the tips. I can confirm there are duplicate programs in windows and program files, just fix the short cut link and point it to \Windows directory and save storage memory.

What tool did you use to remove and edit the file

What tool did you use to remove and edit the file I used NBHExtract, aChef, viewimgfs, addfile, delfile, mtty and my favourite text editor which does not really matter.

But you can also do with a working WM, unless you're going to hard-reset :) Just remove the progs from Program Files, and then fix the shortcuts in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs so that they point to \Windows\XXXXX

How is one doing same mistake twice called..:-), well I can be justfully called that name..

1. Couldn't resist and installed Windows Live Mobile Beta (worked OK but I didn't like it's complication)
2. Uninstalled WLM Beta and SR, than installed WMXL Pocket MSN add-on (the very same as in WM5)
3. Now no matter what I do, I get notified of No-Connection, in spite of checking a solid HSDPA/UMTS/GPRS (alternatively) connection, and otherwise PIE working OK (just to reassure myself)

So why am I giving myself that look... well because I've tried same sequence on another WM5 device and uninstalling the otherwise working WLMB to re-install PMSN, resulted with nothing less than a HR to fix.

Is there anybody there who can advice on a smarter solution ?

Thx.

Installed 2.0 (w/ Adobe) ... no major problems. Just a couple of quick questions.

(1) Every time I restart my 8525, I have to tap the splash screens to load up 6.0. Bascally, it will sit there if I dont. Any ideas why?

(2) Greyed out connection links in Comm Manager ... seems like others have it as well.

(3) I could of sworn that I was able to connect to the internet via ActiveSync before, but now I cant. Am I crazy or is there something I can change that will let me? Never mind! I figured it out. I now have an internet connection through ActiveSync!

FYI ... if you have Launcher and you delete all of the 2.0 applications that were added to the ROM in the Program Files folder (and redirect the shortcuts to the Windows folder), you will need to redo your Launcher icons.

Simply create shortcuts to the .exe files for the programs and place them into the Launcher folder. Then you should be good to go!

Thanks!

Regarding this:
"ATI Video Driver dll has been replaced with the one from AKU 3.3" - it didn't fix the screen going crazy in XDA Live v0.20, so it's not the ATI dll alone that fixed that issue in AKU3.3 :(

This is now called Internet Sharing - look into your programs folder, it is there by default. Once you've launched it on your hermes, go to start Menu > Help (at the bottom) and you will find instructions to use it.
I did just that and it works fine (using USB). I am not sure it works fine using bT.

Hi nforsans,

I'm not sure he will find any instructions; I'm using WXDA live .20 & I have searched in the Help for Internet Sharing, for Modem and for ICS. They all come up empty. I have checked the items in the table of contents and none of the links seem to provide any relevant info. The Internet Sharing worked for me, sort of... email, skype and msn work, but internet browsing all returns 403 forbidden - access control list issue. Anyhow, I think this is not really a 0.20 issue, and more of a WM6 issue so I will toy with it for a while and then start a new thread if I can't find an existing one.

Hi there,
tested the 0.1 versionm blackberry didn't work, thou I didn't make the mods with the edit in the dlls (so it might be pretty normal ;) )

Tryed th 0.2 version, with the WMXL Blackberry option, didn't work too.
I'm on a HTC TyTN with Orange FR system. Maybe I have to change identification from network to SPV 3100 like for the TV. Will be testing that too. If it doesn't work, I'll go back to previous rom.

I had dumped my rom befor going on 0.1 have the raw files thou I can't get them to nb and then nbh :) Guess it's the same one as on the wiki

Will be trying with a dumped rom from the wiki, modifying the phone for SPV3100 identification and edit my post in case of any sucess

hi,

If anyone is interested i have maneged to solve a small issue with security dialer(the one that prompts you for SIM pin) on v0.21 displaying the ugly white and grey dialer.

All you have to do is copy attached file in to Windows folder and replace the existing one.
I used Total comander to do that.

Hope it helps

Is it only for v0.21? I use v0.20 and replaced the .dll with yours. No difference. What should have changed? Black sec. dialer? And does it accept a 4 digit code without pressing UNLOCK?

I guess its buried deep in the rom... apparently it comes up with a connection failure or something anyway... at least until MS turn on WM update I guess. I would be amazed if they used it to track unofficial upgrades.

I wonder if someone has also some issues with WM6 like me. I mean problems with keyboard. I've got UK Vario II and so far everything was ok, but when I flashed Vanilla rom I saw that when I pressed eg. Q I got Q, but when pressing T I got TU, and pressing U gave me also TU, the same with SHIFT+button combinations. Some keys just work like that. Now I don't know if it's some hardware issue or software one.

Have you installed apps onto the Storage card (and these apps are today plugins etc)?

I have had this rom now for five days and with SPB Pocket Plus and Windows Live Messenger both on the device main memory (and both with today plug ins active), its is still flying along. I havent soft reset for 48 hours now - and previous soft resets were caused by tinkering!

And Mean Machine - I have noticed that my keyboard actually feels slightly less responsive which is kind of illogical - but other than needing to occasionally retype a key, its fine.

I try to see if I can use it with music services which use DRM protection. Before posting it here, I scan most of the other treads, and try to go by recomended solution, but none works. Not sure if it is Live 0.2 related problem. Anyone been able to sync DRM rotected music to this device?

Hi !

Finally I succedeed to upgrade and this release is working fine. Thank you for it !

The only problem is to change sliding keyboard to scandinavian keys. I did change the registry values and added a new entry to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]

Added string is "Locale = 041d"
Here's a picture attached. Still there is no change is keyboard layout. Did I do something wrong or is this a working method at all ?

on my calendar, it always starts up in Month View. This is regardless of whatever I put in the Tools->Options->Start In setting.
Can anyone else reproduce this, or is it only my TyTN.
Not really that annoying, but a small bug nonetheless...

Hi, I wish I had the same "problem", as I prefer to see the month at first.

Mine starts on today's view.

- Autocorrect in Swedish
- Symbols in Swedish

Thanks so much! im another step closer to having the best phone ever!

It's not like a real problem, but there still is ClearVue PDF v2.42.452 built in the ROM :-)

- wtcvpdfv.exe
- wtcvpdfv.htm
- wtcvtime.dll
together ~ 130kB
I am not sure yet, but there seem to be quite a few more ~ 830kB

Is the ClearVue you found usable somehow..?

After a few days of running WMXL 2.0, I have started to get the screen wake up/lock up problem. My phone will not wake up after being in standby awhile. This problem started when I upgraded the radio from 1.33 to 1.35, before I was not having this problem, but I have not had WMXL installed for that long.

For those of you with the wake up problem, what radios are you running? I think I may have noticed a trend that people experiencing this problem are running radio 1.34 or 1.35. Since I started noticing this problem when I upgraded the radio, I may try going back to radio 1.33 or even 1.27 (but upgrading the radio makes me really nervous). I know it wouldn't make sense for the radio to cause this problem, especially if it is SD card related, but that is the only thing I changed when this problem started. I need to fix this or I will have to go back to 2.06

Thank you! I have removed all those duplicated programs and got 7MB more free!

I have modified all the shortcuts (if I didn't miss a thing), if somebody is lasy enough, simply download this zip (http://www.prs.no-ip.com/shared/shortcuts.zip) and overwrite those in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs...

Thanks for the zip, I was too lazy to change where all the shortcut points to :)
After deleting the duplicate files in ProgramFiles, I got 9MB back!

Other changes to be done if anyone will be doing this:
Update the shortcut in the startup folder for StartClean.
Also you'll need to update the registry to point acrord32.exe to the Windows folder. It seems even if I update the file association, I still can't open pdf files unless I open them from Acrobat Reader. But everything's fine now after changing the registry. Not sure if there's any other file associations to be updated...

Hi,

My hermes runs stable with XDA Live 0.20.

Anyway, I cannot get MMS to work, I set up manually the entries for T-Mobile Germany (GPRS and MMS).

GPRS works fine, MMS -> "error synchronizing", it looks like I can send a mms but not receive them. Any idea? Did anybody get T-Mobile GPRS ABD MMS to work?

Furthermore, any idea how to set the software keyboard (SIP) to German layout QWERTZ? So far, I got QWERTY. Hardware keyboard, T9 etc. is set to german language and works fine.

Since we sort of know that the duplicated files are causing the problem of low storage memory, probably we don't need any clean version... of course, we can skip PHM registry editor if we can have other things to put in ROM... otherwise, it doesn't hurt to stay.

Also, it is up to our chef's decision!

I'm experiencing this wake up problem, since the 'bad-old-days' when I still have WM5 AKU 2.3 on my Dopod 838pro. I've never upgraded the radio or OS at that time. Now I'm using WMXL 0.21, with the same radio 1.06.00.10, and I'm still experiencing this problem intermittently... not sure what might have caused such problem, might be a hardware issue...

Seems that Spb Diary is really causing some trouble on WM6, after not installing on 0.21, it seems to be much more stable. But the random lock up problem is still there, seems to occur when the device is busy processing, and I poked around, such as trying to change IMEs...

Not sure if it is Live 0.2 related problem. Anyone been able to sync DRM rotected music to this device?

Note for the BB Connect users on Orange FR:
if you want to make WXL BB Connect work on the system, you have to change the registry like for having TV :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/WindowsCurrentVersion/Internet Settings/5.0/User Agent/Post Platform]=
"PPC; 240x320; SPV M3100; OpVer 13.10.2.111"

then it works perfectly :)

Thanks for Kyphur and the rest of the team for the release.
Now waiting only for the french version :)

I heard something about the main memory and ROM relationship, correct me if I'm wrong:

Base on my understanding, the space a ROM take inside the main memory is fixed, even if the actual files are not as much. Hence by cooking softwares inside the ROM, you actually save space from further installation which would take the memory space other than those dedicated for ROM.

So how large exactly is the space in the main memory allocated for ROM? and how much more things can we put in other than the basic ROM?

Would someone please enlighten me?

I dont have the lock up issue! I would suggest you hard reset and avoid reinstalling any third party apps for a day or two... if the device is stable, start to add apps one or two at a time until the device stops responding.

I have actually followed all the WM6 threads and I reckon its third party apps with today plugins or some stay resident option installed on the storage card.

The Pocket Internet Explorer doesn't send the User Agent String.
The User Agent String is in Registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\5.0\User Agent\(Default)

Without working User Agent no UMTS/GSM Provider will ever use such an ROM.
The AKU3.3 Roms don't send the User Agent too.
The last working PIE with sending User Agent was the 1.35 SA Rom.
Trinity does send the User Agent. Maybe someone can insert the working IE-Files from Windows-Directory from SA-ROM or Trinity-ROM.
This would show Provider-Homepages on Hermes again.

Running 0.2.1 as of Friday. Very happy so far.

Two issues to report; The first I have seen other members report too (but no fix yet), and the other is unreported so far:

1. After powering off (press and hold power button) and restarting, the device boots up straight into flight mode, bypassing the security screen. I then have to tap the network icon and open phone settings (and wait for a few seconds) in order to enter my PIN. A real pain. I never got this issue with my previous ROM (original M3100 Orange UK) BUT I also had the original radio ROM, so I'm not sure whether this issue is related to the new OS or the radio upgrade I did just before the OS flashing (to 1.35)

2. If I open a document in Adobe PDF viewer and then minimise it (by pressing one of the hardware OK buttons, then reopen Adobe again and then try to close it down by tapping the "X" on the screen (with the option set in task manager to close applications this way) the phone freezes and needs a soft reset.

Apart from these two, no other issues so far (no issue on wake up reported by many others, which I did have with the original M3100 ROM) except for an occasional hang on the splash screen after a soft reset, cured by another reset.

Issue number two is very minor, but issue 1 is a big pain. Anyone have any ideas why the radio is off on bootup?

Thanks again to the team for this great ROM. I have stopped using my blackberry because of this and gone back to my Hermes :)

Awesome release guys!

Minor issues that are just a little odd.

1. The auto-complete stuff. I disable it and it still pops up suggestions as I type.

2. The timestamps on messages and emails are getting worked out to some random time. UTC -1:00 at a guess. Localisation is set for here etc. It's just on messages that it has to convert from a different timezone.

No big deal.
Awesome ROM.

(1) I have tried taking pictures while having Task Manager running, and when I do, it wants to open Task Manager instead of taking the picture. To take pictures, I have to close Task Manager, then all seems to be well.

(2) Beam and Mail (?) applications are greyed out in connection manager (known issue).

XDA Live is running great for me. I have applied the fixes and tweaks to recover quite a bit of memory. I also noted that the in v. 20.1 that the Adobe User Guide is in the Windows directory and cannot be deleted.

Hi, thanks for this. I got an updated matrix from MSFT listing features depending on WM and Exchange release ... FYI attached. If anyone spots something that is still not right in the matrix, please let me know.

I have seen a few (but by no means widespread) issues with battery life with .20...

Should I gather from the general consensus that its not an issue with the ROM and more probbaly akin to settings/programs?

I want to have v0.30 out by the end of March. I'm in the final stages of buying a house here (still hoping nothing goes wrong) so that might delay it.

I believe all of the big issues with v0.20 have been addressed except:

Having a nice clean Video Calling Installer & PTT Installer.

I don't think we will be seeing a fix for the "WiFi On" link where there shoudl be a "WiFi Off" link, this appears to be a programmer error that is common to all WM6 builds (even Wizard)

The Memory futz-up was a goof on my part, I apologize for that (can't believe it slipped through the Beta Testing).

I think that in order to make v0.30 as good as we can get it, leaving v0.20 in the wild for a couple of week is a good thing.

The pre-Beta Build of v0.30 I am currently running has the Radio off after Power Down issue fixed so that it defaults to Radio On!

I think I know what the problem with hearts is, just need to test my theory.

There has still been soem talk about the "branding" of this Rom but I will not remove it. This is my way of dedicating the Rom to the community. Notice that nowhere in the rom will you find mention of me, just XDA and I think if you don't appreciate XDA enough to tolerate the slight branding then you can easily use another Rom.

Honestly once my spare 8525 arrives this week it will be much easier for me to check things in v0.20 while continuing to work on v0.30.

I think for v0.30 I will only add "Task Manager & SMS Backup" as we get the most bang for our efforts with those two apps. The additional game will be made avaliable as a single Cab File.

It will also have a Custom version of HTweakC which will allow us to have our device customized to our liking on Hard Reset automatically.

The HSDPA Icon Fix will be native to v0.30 and the SIM Security Pad DIlar Skin will be fixed.

I will again edit the OS Version Number to allow BB Connect and Good Link to install and work With v0.30 but will also add the fix for Sling Player.

I still want to get us larger storage memory (can't increase Program Memory without hardware mod) but that is not the top of my list.

I will also be providing a special thanks to everyone who has donated to this project and/or served as a Beta Tester on previous versions.

Funny the Yanks and Europeans got hung up on DST ..... considering it was invented by the Germans during WWII.

I am having problems with XPdf as it does not want to open up my files stored on Mem card.

Guess I will have to go for the more bulky Adobe. :o

Kyphur, I'm quite sure from reading every single post on every thread related to WMXL that the great majority of us are proud to have our splash screen say XDA Live Edition.
I would have stopped using this phone had it not been for all the fixes and tweaks I found on the way in this great community, and I'm not even talking about being able to use WM6!

I still want to get us larger storage memory (can't increase Program Memory without hardware mod) but that is not the top of my list.

I don't quite understand the implication of this last statement. Is this referring to the changes needed so that the applications in rom are not loaded into the programs folder, but rather are accessed only from the windows folder, thus saving storage memory, or is it a different point altogether?

Consequently, will 0.30 (like 0.2) have Office and other applications embedded in it since (according to various posts in this thread) it seems that we CAN have apps flashed onto the rom without reducing storage memory after all? If that is the case, then will we go back to the 0.10 philosophy that "the more apps we can fit in ROM the better" and then you can choose to use them or not?

Apologies in advance for not fully understanding.

Thank you again for the good work.

I'm playing with the idea of physically reducing the ROM Image size (OS.nb file) by removing all empty blocks. This will increase the amount of Storage Memory on our devices.

Also looking into changing the size of Ext_ROM and editing the Start location again to increase Storage Memory.

If I can provide a clean OS with lots (possbily 80+MB) or free storage Memory and the ability to customize easily after Hard Reset then this would truly allow us to each pick and choose what we want (even allowing some of us to remove office completely if we never use it!).

Now of course this may simply be a pipe dream but I'm working towards it none-the-less.

Love the work and will contribute via PAYPAL.

One big wish is to fix up the Bluetooth profiles. The current version does not support Bluetooth DUN profile. No laptop connectivity or TOMTOM updates.

Also the HF and HS profiles are shaky and lock up.

Would appreciate any advice to fix this.

Nice investigative work. I've experienced the same problems with 0.10 (and am about to try 0.20). What I can add is that it seems to me to be a Comm Manager issue, to some extent at least. I've had both bluetooth and wifi behave in much the same manner. I had WiFiFoFum installed and discovered that even though Comm Manager is unable to start WiFi, the "power device" function of WiFiFoFum started up the WiFi perfectly (and then Comm Manager started working again).

Very similar to my common, and frustrating, GPRS issue where it says it's available but simply will not connect, and doesn't even try.

Bluetooth has also failed to start for me via both comm manager and activesync.

In all three cases a soft-reset solved the problem... for a time.

Is there a fix for the GPRS issue yet ("it's available but simply will not connect")?

as others have mentioned, after some undetermined amount of time, my active data connection drops (the square indicator is still showing a E or H or 3G) but nothing i do, either manually attempting to connect or having an application (messaging- shows connecting state/PIE- sits there circle spining, etc.) try to launch a connection works. again, as mentioned, the only fix is to softboot. then, like magic all is fine.... for a while.

btw, i'm using htweakc to set the data connection to auto attach and always on.

Dont know if anyone else has this but the ROM flashes fine but whenever I try to flash the radio (1.16 or several others), the upgrade hangs at 0 percent. I then go through various "brick" cycles - tricolour screen, white screen or hangs at WM screen. Usual recovery processes work each time just so I can brick it again. Bit like groundhog day with ROMs. getting fed up with it now. Anyone know a ROM that I can try (I have tried the one on Kyphur's original link).

T Mobile Vario II with an O2 SIM card and Kyphur's really cool looking ROM that I cant use = definition of frustration. HELP!!

I am not entirely sure that this problem is related to the system version, I am no expert at this but here is what I have tried.

I have 1.35.00.11 Radio ROM, I installed the OS.nb from WWE_2.05.255.1_6275_1.34.00.10_108_test, and when I run BBC 2.1.2.52 I get an IP assigned and a secure tunnel generated. I can also register the device on the BB network.

I upgrade to WMXL v0.21, re-install BBC 2.1.2.52, it starts up goes out and connects to the BB network, then drops (It trys to form a secure tunnel then stops)

I want to Keep Kyphur's ROM on the Phone...OUTSTANDING WORK Kyphur!!!!.

Any ideas from anyone what is happening here, and what is the differences between the two ROM besides WM5 vs WM6 etc, is the network port mapping the same?

Does anyone else have an issue with the keyboard responsiveness? I don’t remember it ever being this bad with my regular Cingular WM5 ROM but when I get to typing fast it seems like it can’t keep up and I miss a lot of characters, especially the "h". Maybe it’s more of a hardware issue and it’s making the ROM upgrade look like a coincidence, who knows, but I know I never had this problem on my blackberry qwerty.

After deleting the duplicate files in ProgramFiles, I got 5MB back

I am not versed in making changes unless have the full instruction. Could you explain exactly the following:

- Update the shortcut in the startup folder for StartClean.
- Update the registry to point acrord32.exe to the Windows folder.

Thanks everybody for the help in making this to work. ROM is wokring very good so far.

In /Windows/Startup folder, change the target path for StartClean.lnk to point to the StartClean file in the /Windows directory. I used Resco Explorer to edit the lnk.

Use any registry editor to search for acrord32.exe and change the path from program files... to windows.

Hope that helps.

don'T know if kyphur put the reg key's in or if the system has added this by itself...

[HKLM\System\StorageManager]
"PNPUnloadDelay" = dword:8196

but the problem is that the dword should be in DEC and in the xdal0.2 it is entered in hex... (as in wiki explained)

As I've experienced the refusal to wake-up issue occasionally I will downgrade my Radio and see if the eliminates the problem.

Why dont people release very clean roms with customized Extened Roms that run the config.txt file (as in WM5) on first boot & hard resets to install extra apps & customizations? Therefore we can edit our own config.txt files to install what we need on hard resets.

XDA-Live 0.2 (same problem in 0.1 for that matter, worked in WM5), 8525.

The only think that doesn't seem to work (anything else was resolved with advice in this thread) is any app syncing to Google Calendar: Pocket Gcal Sync, Oggsync, etc. Have tried both wap and ISP APNs, numerous versions of .NET CF. Generic "Connection Error".

I've been through the entire 0.2 thread, but am surprised not to see any mention. Sorry for any redundancy.

By placing the apps in ROM you lose no storage space, cause the ROM basically is not full from OEM. By adding the custom apps there you take advantage of otherwise unusable space. If I remember correctly the LVSW version does execute the Ext_ROM upon reset. I do not know how to make the XDA Live do it.

Please use Extended_ROM (and config.txt) it has no other use for most of us. Dont rely on storage cards that can be lost or easily corrupted as is the case with many hermes users.

Therefore you can occasionally release a clean, fast and stable core OS rom only when the build version changes (call it v1.x) and release updated extended rom flashes (call it 0.x) whenever changes and fixes are added to extended roms. For instance one can have WMXL v 1.1.3 = first revision to OS rom core (newer build) and third revision to extended rom (fixes, apps, thems)

Oh goody, another I've fucked my phone, read nothing, give no information but want everyone else to research my problem for me type of post. I don't know how many times I (and more from others) have answered this question...

What phone do you have, what is (was) the rom, BL, SPL, CID etc, etc. Were there any error messages (these are quite useful at times!!!). Did the computer crash or hang during the flash process? Did you try to microwave it to try to fool the service tech etc etc? All of these subtle clues allow someone to begin to diagnose your problem

I was not saying that it flashed an extended ROM I was merely indicating that at least one version of it executed the existing extended ROM upon hard reset. Sorry, for my poor explanation. When I said ROM during my earlier comment I meant ROM not extended ROM.

kyphur
13th March 2007, 08:36 PM
Here's the problem with extended Rom... Too Small.

Besides there is a possibility that we can do a "Big Storage" solution converting most of Extended Rom into storage memory (thereby allowing us to use internal memory more).

I routinely install much more than 10MB worth of Cab files to my device everything I hard reset or flash a new Rom. Just my 3 today plug-ins fill that up!

With our new solution, you will simply drag & drop your Cabs & .Reg files into the appropriate folders. No need to edit a text file or anything. On Coldboot, HTweakC XDA-Live Edition will run. I will apply Reg Tweaks per your saved ini file, import the *.reg files from your storage card folder and install the .cab files from your storage card folder.

FWIW, I have never lost a microSD card they are seated quite solidly in the 8525. Also the only "corruption issue I'm aware of the momentary lapse of readability which is always corrected by re-seating the card or soft reseting the device.

Thank you! I have removed all those duplicated programs and got 7MB more free!

I have modified all the shortcuts (if I didn't miss a thing), if somebody is lasy enough, simply download this zip (http://www.prs.no-ip.com/shared/shortcuts.zip) and overwrite those in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs...

thanks bro for the update. the 7MB is really welcome!

Internet sharing via BT PAN works fine as I'm using it right now (my ADSL just died)

hi, can you share how i can use my internet sharing over Bluetooth to work? I have setup Bluetooth PAN and connected my PC to the Hermes, however I cannot seem to surf the net. When I checked the TCP/IP settings using ipconfig. I found that the WM6 assigned my PC with an IP address but no gateway, how can I enable the gateway to work? Isn't it supposed to work automatically? Thanks.

I'm not sure if spl 1.09 could be a sticking point but try looking at the following posts:

(from RabanJR post# 384) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755&page=39 and follow this thread on for a bit - it might work for you.

You can also try going into KITL mode (haven't tried this myself) but there are various success stories. The url for this is http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=PB_KITL_HERMES

Understandable. How can i tweak v2 or the upcoming v3 to run a cab in extended _rom (using config.txt) on first boot and hard resets. Its a security app that guards against thefts. The mentioned storage card method is not secure enough for me.

I am running radio 1.35 and no freezing

I second on this.

Although ... not sure if it's WM6 or Radio 1.35, but bluetooth disconnects are very frequent now. Every time my 8525 attempts to reconnect to T-Mobile, or even when the signal strength changes, the BT connection drops.

I still think that your SPL 1.09 will be the sticking point. You need to be able to bet the device to boot to run SSPL or hard SPL. I think that KITL or booting from the SD card may help - but I'm no expert at this.

I'm sure I've read someone recovering their phone with the same symptoms and BL as yours but can't locate the thread yet.

Good luck.

I had the same thing, BUT I had the tweak to increase battery life "installed" (or whatever it is that one does with a tweak). On a hunch (= reading this or some other trhead) I removed it, and voila, tadaaa --- battery life back to nomal.

So am I saying I get better battery life WITHOUT this tweak? Yes, that is what I am saying.

Mind you, all of this is non-scientific. Did not measure anything, so it MIGHT be coincidence.

ok this has been addressed many times but it seems no one has answered.. my battery has decreased dramatically, V.20 was much better for battery life.. has anyone found a fix for this? also i have noticed it takes a little longer for it to boot up.

I probably agree with this statement. Although it only occurred with some spb products and very randomly. Previously I never had a lockup problem when I installed Spb pocket plus, SPB time and spb gprs monitor.

Then I installed spb mobile shell, and I was experiencing the freezing issues. I hard reset, and installed all the same apps together, and didn't have a problem. Now that enabling the onboard GPS has basically been shown to be unreasonable what benefit do you get from running a Trinity Radio Rom?

I would suggest switching back to a true Hermes Radio Rom and see if the problems persist.

To be honest, you'll need to either use another Rom or cook your own flavor.

There is no way to ensure that your "Ext_ROM" security feature works. Realistically your average user would simply throw the device away if they are unable to use it or give it to a knowledgeble friend who would probably reflash the device.

I really don't want to end up with several different versions of the Rom.

Speaking of that, I need to hear from users who have video calling working properly with v0.20. If it works fine then I don't need to split v0.30 into PTT & Video Call versions.

I have videocall enabled on v0.20. Just tested it and noticed something strange.

I was on HSDPA and tried the make the videocall and got an error that no 3g is available and if i wanted to make a voicecall instead.

Then on 3g (UMTS) i could make the videocall.

I thought HSDPA is also 3g and so should support videocall.

I enabled the video call by running the 2.05 extrom, this screwed up my dialer screen, but the zphone reptile skin gave me a beautifull dialer screen with videocall enabled.

Don't know if this will help. Had the same issue, and could only resolve by performing the following steps (in order):

1. Clear device data (hard reset, start from scratch).
2. Bypass any ExtRom autoconfig (if you're set up this way) and manually set up carrier GPRS/3G settings FIRST (skip activesync setup). Soft-reset.
3. Once restarted, set AutoAttach GPRS in HTweakC, then save and shut down with power button (not soft-reset)
4. Restart, then set correct date/time before configuring Exchange server in Activesync.
5. Proceed to load other apps, etc.

Something with the clean setup with power-down seems to do the trick. I don't know what exactly caused the error, but I was finally able to get everything rolling fine using the above steps.

Using teh 590a headphones and have paired and have gotten the little Headphone+music note icon and the system sounds playback through the BT headphones, but when I playback audio from media player it will not go to the BT headphones and only goes to the speaker/wired headphone.

What I have also found with this issue is that it appears the root cause of the problem is that for some reason ActiveSync is trying to use the 802.11/Wifi Adapter when you set the schedule to "As Items Arrive"

This can be found in the ctrllog.txt file in the Active Sync directory here:
2007-03-14 13:16:06 EstConn WOI requested
2007-03-14 13:16:06 EstablishConn hr=0x85020013, handle=0x41d13f86, pri=0x200, status=0x2c, flags=0x20000, wait=0

2007-03-14 13:16:06 EngineEnd hr=0x85020013

Because DirectPush can't be done over a Wifi connection, it bombs out and logs the 85020013 error. However, when the schedule is set to Manual it works fine. Here is the difference in the logs:

We have something better coming for v0.30.

Simply by placing Registry Files and Cab Files in the proper folders on your storage card everything will install automatically upon hard reset!

This will really be a big advantage. More storage space and the ability to install more apps automatically on hard reset or rom upgrade. This type of option used to be used a while back (pre wm5), before extended_rom was used. TomTom 6 currently uses this method, after initial install. We used to create a folder on the SdCard named 2577 with a special autorun.exe file that would install any cab files in that directory. Other folder numbers were used for other things, but I only remember using the 2577 folder. So the new way of using the sdcard with separate folders for cab and reg tweaks will be great. The only issue we had was, sometimes when the card was removed and re-inserted, it would autostart some of the apps or cab installs?? but that was a long time ago.

I looked around some to try and make sure I'm not being too much of a tard, but no avail.

I installed 0.10 no sweat.

Trying 0.20.1, but after initially successfully connecting to the device and allowing me to start the load, apparently USB drops (I get a tone on my PC; the loading screen drops back to the rainbow screen), and eventually the loader reports "error [260]: update error." The User Agent in Pocket Internet Explorer is always sending Mozilla/4.0 even if it is changed in Registry.

@Kyphur: Can you replace the buggy PIE-Files in Windows-Directory from Trinity ROM? (4 Files in Windows Directory starting with IE and hidden) There its working, or from an older AKU2.3 Hermes Rom. For this bug it isn't possible to run Network provider-Sites and Multimedia content.

But,when I installed it,messaging won't start. It just shows a "Messaging" in top for half a second and then nothing happens.

When I uninstalled the MMSLite,I can start messaging again.Could please lokk into this issus?

I had the same problem and had to come back to softbank rom.
Did MMS work fine with standard MMS client? Did you setup it?

Thanks

Has anybody tried to use google maps or mapquest? For me, google maps gets stuck on the loading screen and mapquest just doesn't show the actual map.

Workx for me.

I searched and couldnt find an answer for this one.. ive got a cingular 8525 and my connection icon keeps changing between 3g and H.. could someone tell me why?

The H shows when you are actually transferring data while in an HSDPA area. It will revert back to 3G when there is no data actively moving. You will see 3G all the time if you are in a UMTS area that has not seen the upgrade to HSDPA go live yet...

Try HTweakC 2.1b > System > check "Increase Battery Life"

This has only had a minor effect on battery life. I used the phone less today (2 short calls) and it's down to 70% after only 15 hours off full charge.. I may change radios (as much as I hate to flash radio roms) 1.34 or 1.38 ?

I am running radio 1.35 and no freezing. I did have my memory card disappearing when I moved some of my today applications back to the card, but once I moved them back to memory the problems seem to have cleared up. My only issue has been the radio being off after a reboot, not every time...
1.27 was a pretty good radio, I think I remember someone trying it with no difference but ymmv.
Let us know.

I was at radio 1.35 and very stable for about 3 days. Then for some reason I started to get BT disconnects, long pauses when messaging would sit on "logging on" for what seemed like forever. I've switched to 1.34 (about 24hours) and it is working fine. I'll report if the slow downs start up again.

Hi Kyphur,

When will be version 0.3 released? What will be added in 0.3?

Thanks in advance.
Good work!

I'm trying to hold off the release of v0.30 for two reasons:

First, I want to address as many issues as possible (which may mean grafting some things from other WM6 builds, I need to get one of my Wizards flashed with Faria's Wizard WM6 and see if some things are fixed by it).

Second, unless something goes horribly wrong in the next week I will be closing on my House March 23rd! This means that I'm stressed out (beyond normal levels) for the next week and then will be moving/settling-in for a couple of weeks after that. As a result I'll not be as avaliable on the forum (not to mention that I will be without internet for a few days during the transition).

I should have a preliminary build ready for testing the weekend. It will not be released publicly mainly because I don't want to drop & run.

WXML Supporters (you know who you are) will get access to this build but I will not be as avaliable to respond to issues.

If everything goes well with the Test Build then I will do a public Release on April 1st (no this is not an April Fool's Joke).

I don't have a list of fixes yet.

Cheers kyphur! I'm moving on the 23rd as well, I'm surprised you've been able to do this much considering!

Keep up the good work and I look forward to 0.3 :)

Seems that after a hard reset, and installing basically nothing, no lock up so far after 2 days

I have never hard any H icon appeared, but I am quite sure HSDPA is enabled ( as shown with Field Test).

I wish I am one of the "WXML Supporters", can I enroll somehow?

These settings worked for me on the 20.1 ROM.

Have you installed the HSDPA icon cab?? (in the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XDA_Live_Extras))

Well...I tried your solution step-by-step...but no luck. I'm going to have to fall back to a different ROM without this feature.

Using the corporate BlackBerry SIM card, I have BBC running and also receive a lot of work related text messages 24x7.
After I flashed Live .20 and installed T-Mobile USA.CAB, those text messages sent by our monitoring s/w come now as MMS messages. Receiving SMS as MMS does not really bother me as much as the irritating "In order to send/download MM messages, the current active connection may be closed (this may affect other applications in use). Do you want to continue ?" and "Yes/No" selection.

Neither HTweakC GPRS/G3 settings nor "The Automatic download in home & roaming network" and "No additional info/prompt while roaming" have effect - the annoying "Connect" notification is killing me.

Anyone found a way to disable this notification yet and tell MMS "Just Do It" ?
Also as a side question - anyone knows if there is a way for operator (T-Mobile) to force those ( probably MIME e-mails ) be delivered as plain SMS ?

Issue.

Kyphur, I am not sure, if somebody already mentioned the following issue, I just lost my orientation in this thread ;).

If you change in the Keyboard settings the number of suggested words, it doesn't matter which number you type in, everytime 4 words are suggested, when you type a text message or mms or something similar.

Thanks in advance.

The "wake up" screen problem I have to.
I only get this problem when the screen is off for some more time. And it only happens when i am connected thru GPRS and Windows Mobile Live / Messenger are connected.

The problem must be somewhere with Windows Mobile Live. Might be the today screen plugin or something. :(

Seems as if no one has addressed this as yet. v.10 did the same thing, i thought it would go away after update to v.20. no luck. the only thing i have installed is ms live, and ms live search.

i notice it happens if the device is off for 15 minutes or longer. the lights are still flashing as if it was fine, but pressing the power button does not wake it up. i've tried pressing it once and waiting, still nothing. can anyone help?

Had multiple daily issues with the mSD card on AKU3.3 with Hermes Radio 1.34.
As a matter of fact that combination was the most unstable out of 5 I had for the past 4 month. Previously my 8525 was deaaad slow ... but fairly stable.

With WMXL .20 or LVSW versions I had no single issue for the past 2-3 weeks.
No wake up issues, no mSD card disappearing.

After I upgraded radio to 1.35 ( Trinity ), I started having serious BT disconnects .. big time. But still no wake up, no card problems.

This morning I put radio 1.38.00.10 and 4 hours down the line, my HTC fails to wake up twice and and card disappeared already once.
But the BT works like a charm.

I was wondering how you all have these problems....
I have been using Radio 1.38 for 2 days now and I really don't encounter any problem at all....
I haven't SuperCID / unlocked... just flashed it right from the original version.....
Maybe you play too much with different ROMs....

I've just hit this issue after using WXML 0.21 successfully for several days on my 8525.

Last night I read the posts about Cingular Video and how a different UserAgent string in the browser might fix the problem. After installing WXML 0.21 I had configured my phone/data settings manually, and hadn't bothered with a MediaNEt setting.

Having seem a CAB file floating around that contained the Cingular settings, I went ahead and installed that. Now, I also installed BandSwitcher and the Memory Cache/HSDPA icon fix.

So now I had a MediaNEt setting and tried accessing Cingular Video. No luck there (but I wasn't totally surprised based on posts from other folks). I switched off my phone and went to bed.

This morning I switched on my phone and saw I had no emails pushed from Outlook - very odd. After playing with my phone for a few hours and discovering this thread, I realized I am now suffering from the ActiveSync problem.

I can only summize this was caused by either the Cingular settings CAB or BandSwitcher (and I could also be totally wrong of course). Did anyone else who encountered this problem use the same files?

I'm going to have a busy weekend re-installing WM6 on my phone!

Hi,

awesome image - its working great!!!! Thanks so much!

It would be nice to include .net SP2 (version 2.0.7045) as SP1 (version 2.0.6129) as SP1 has an issue with the SSL implementation (my HBCI online banking software fails).

As SP2 update will go to the RAM lot of memory would be wasted, a ROM version would preferable.

Cheers!
