for HTC Hermes


Now I present you with Version 0.20 of XDA Live!

I've decided that instead of embedding them all, I will remove all but the default Crossbow Theme and add the Aero Theme. The Themes Page is being updated to allow you to click on the image to download the Theme.

I've received several requests for a PayPal link to donate in support of my efforts so I finally broke down and did it. If you go to the page with the themes (use the link above) at the bottom there is a PayPal Link. Thanks in advance to anyone who contributes and don't forget please send to XDA-Developers.com first.

WMXL v0.20 no longer uses the Vanilla Rom as it's base. I have been given the okay to release using my Original Base Rom.

I have integrated the following Applications:

ActiveSync Remote Display (CERDISP2)
Cubicle Chaos
HTweakC v2.1
MS Hearts
PHM Registry Editor
SMS Backup
StartClean
Task Manager v2.7
VJCandelaLite (Flashlight)
VJLumosIII (Bright Screen)I have integrated the following Registry Fixes:

By default only the Date Plugin is enabled (and it is set to a single line).
The about screen shows " - XDA" after the OS Build Number.
Pressing & Holding the Comm Button toggles the between Vibrate & Normal.
Memory Cache & Storage Card Fixes are Applied.
Disabled the warning for Unsigned Applications (Application Lock).
Connection Band (E/G instead of U) displays correctly.
Added a Registry Key to support "internet-flatrate" by o2.
Connection Established Notification is off be default.
Keyboard Backlight Sensor is Disabled by default.
Disable Connection Sharing on Boot is off.
Internet Explore Auto Connect & Auto Dial are enabled by default.Misc:

OS Version is edited to 5.1.195 (Build 17217.6.0.0) - XDA. This should allow Blackberry Connect (v2.1.2.31) & GoodLink to work with it.
WiFiInit is embedded.
SetHSPDA.exe is embedded.
I have created two new Roms v0.20.0 has no PDF Viewer embedded, v0.20.1 had Adobe Acrobat Reader 2.0 Embedded.
Note Recorder Press & Hold Button 5 is restored.
ATI Video Driver dll has been replaced with the one from AKU 3.3.
New XDA Windows Mobile Splash Screen (welcomehead.96.png).
Aero Today Theme is embedded.
WMXL Aero Today Theme is embedded.
WMXL Black Today Theme is embedded.
Windows Media Player 11 (Vista) Skin for WMP.
XDA Live Text is removed from the Today Screen.
I have added two "Classic RingTones, (OldPhone-US.wma and OldPhone-UK.wav) for those of us who want to get away from the music and chirping Ringers.
I have removed all carrier customizations, no need to soft reset to avoid customization!Please let's keep this thread clean. This will aide in getting things fixed/added as quickly as possible.

If you just want to chatter go to one of the other threads for this Rom (see the end of the FAQ a few posts down). I will leave only one thread sticky but it will always contain links to all "Official" Threads for the Rom.

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) conflicts with BlueTooth.
Turn Off Wi-Fi link is missing from "Connections Bubble".
Security (Pin Entry Pad) Skin isn't working.The following are missing:

Internet Calling. (Not currently supported or even completely implimented in the existing WM6 Roms)
Video Call.
Push To Talk.
WM5 Smart Dialer. (WM6 has a new Smart Dialer native to the Phone Dialer. If you install Video Call or PTT then you will end-up with the classic WM5 Smart Dialer)Available Options (as seperate Cabs)

Q: How do I install it.
A: The self extracting archive will run the RUU after it extracts all files. I used The XDA RUU which was modified to push the Des Bootloader to your device. This Installer does not require your device to be SuperCID and should work with all bootloader versions. This installer only has a HTC Splash Screen and the OS, No radio or Ext_ROM.

Q: When I try to flash this Rom I get "Error 260: Update Error" why can't I flash this?
A: Remove you Security Pin,

Q: Will WMXL (Windows Mobile XDA Live) fix my corrupted radio bootloader or otherwise bricked Hermes?
A: If the other tools here can't do it then don't bet the farm on WMXL doing it. The Flashing tools are still the same, no magic pill here.

Q: If I upgrade to WMXL can I downgrade to an official Rom from my carrier?
A: Of course you can. WMXL DOES NOT HAVE A RADIO ROM so your Radio & Radio BootLoader are not touched. If you are not SuperCID you can use a Rom from your carrier to downgrade or you can use SSPL.

Q: What will happen to my Extended Rom when I flash WMXL?
A: Nothing. There is no Extended Rom included.

Q: Can you make it in German/French/Italian/Klingon for me?
A: The short answer is NO. I'm focusing on the OS, changing languages and localization are not something I want the delve into. Any replacement keyboard program for WM5 ought to work in WM6, best I can say is try what you're currently using the worst that will happen is you'll lose a few hours of time and maybe have to hard reset. For OS localization to a different language I'm sure some of the WM5 techniques will work but WM6 has different support for OS Language. Personally I'd either wait until MS releases Language Packs or someone takes an interest and figures this out so we can localize at hard reset.

Q: Kyphur you are such a Guru, how can I be like you?
A: Remember that my head is in the clouds on this one only because I'm standing on the shoulders' of giants. This project owes it's very existence to many other contributers here and they deserve as much if not more of the cudos than I do. The is a team effort, please support everyone who made this possible. (See my post here). I have been a member her for only 15 months give or take but I have spent more time reading than doing or posting.

Q: Can you release Cab file updates instead of cooking new Roms to flash?
A: I will do both. For example there were WMXL Update Cabs for Internet Calling and Windows Live! Mobile (for example). Some of these features will get embedded into the next release. I'm doing this to save you from having to flash you device as often as I am. Remember the Cab files will consume Program Memory whereas the new Rom releases will not.

Q: If you embed a program into the Rom how can I remove it (to save memory).
A: You can't remove files that are in the Rom. You can remove the Shortcuts to the programs. If you don't want the program simply ignore it and it will not harm you.

Q: Will you still release the scripts?
A: With the sudden release of several "Rom Kitchens" for the Hermes, my scripts are actually the hard way to do things. I will continue to use them as it allows me to easily switch from one Base ROm to another without much extra work. I would recommend that other wanting to cook Rom use one of the Rom Kitchens. Personally I will be experimenting with Olipro's as some of his earlier works have made WMXL possible. After WMXL v0.20 is released I will release a "Clean WM6 Rom" which will make a good base for other Rom Chefs. It will not include any of the additional progroms I embed but will have all of the core stuff (like Office Mobile).

Q: Will you still release a version based on the original Rom (from your unnamed source).
A: WMXL v0.20 uses my original Base Rom. Please note that the Vanilla Rom is derived from the same Base Rom as I have been using. The big difference is that I spent a lot of time sifting through the Rom files sorting what to delete whereas the Vanilla Rom, while good, has had a little too much trimmed off in some areas while junk has been left standing in others. Another difference is that I have changed a few files in WMXL v0.20 so that it can support Cingular's PTT.

Q: Why do my recent programs keep disappearing on every reset?
A: That is StartClean. If you don't want this then simply delete the shortcut from your Startup Folder.

This Rom really is a group effort.

Without pof & team unlocking I never would have even gone looking for the base Rom.
aChef by aklok_hk is doing the heavy lifting.
Sleuth255, ShogunMark, Faria ViJay555, Bepe, Maimach have all been instrumental either directly or indirectly in this project.
Des and the SSPL was another step that got me to this point.
Olipro's RUU Workshop was used to make the installer package.
Of course there are all of the guys who have been doing this before I bought my first PPC Phone, they blazed the trail I simply walk behind them.
baudy2 for the OS version edit, wpbear for the Stand-alone Cyberon Voice Dialer CAB, coeptum for the regedit to fix the E/G indicator, schriss for pointing out that WM6 used an older Video Driver, shafez for providing the MSN Files.
Of course there is my team of beta testers.
Finally, I can't forget my unnamed source. They took a big change passing this along to me. Even though this relase is built on the Vanilla Rom, without that trust I wouldn't have been able to spend that previous week cooking with a WM6 Rom Image.If I missed someone I apologize, just PM me and I'll update the list.

I've have GPRS connected since my last flash (about 90 minutes) without dropping the connection. I use HTweakC to Enable CPRS/G3 Auto Attach" and "Set Connection AlwaysOn".

Are you installing any Cingular Cabs?

Are you enabling HSDPA?

Installed this looking forward to the BBConnect fix, but hitting an issue. I run v 2.1.2.52 and whilst I can install and run the software, it isn't pulling down email. I notice that the wireless synch box is never ticked when installed, yet despite clicking this - and attempting to force a synch it doesn't work.

Any suggestions??

Please be more specific, are you receiving an error? Explain exactly the behavior you are observing.

Also, everyone please post which point version your are running (.0 = no PDF, .1= Adobe Acrobat PDF) when reporting an issue.

I have experienced similar issues while doing my cooking, using as base the Vanilla version. I have not determined what's the real problem but I found it had something to do with removing the Voice Command (or its registry entries).

Is the voice command still there?

Seems to be effected by the following
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\vmail\Line 1\Unread]
Count=(dword value)

Count key is set to -1. notification that one or more voice messages exist.
If Count key is >0 then vm indicator is displayed along with X number of messages exist message
If Count key is the vm indicator clears.

I'm still checking various combinations, but initially setting count to 0 fixes the initial notification (in that I dont see the initial text), but it seems that this then resets count to -1 rather than a positive integer.

Still pursuing...

For me I found the problem, but no fix...

WLan try to use the same proxies as entered for GPRS/3G. If I delete my proxy-entries, WLan works normal. This was not the case with XDA-Life 0.1.

I'm using the version without Acrobat.

Am on 0.20 and have the Orange UK Voicemail Icon problem as with 0.1 - ie I get the system texts appear rather than the spool icon

OK, a few issues/observations im having so far. (using version 2.0)

Wireless internet - dropouts and not being able to connect at all. Still investigating.

Calender - Weird one. In Calender Options, i set it to week view by default. If i got, Start->Calender it opens everytime, regardless of last viewed style in week view, as it should. If i use the left soft key however, it ALWAYS defaults to month view. Nothing i can do to change it it always does it, regardless of what default view is picked.

Push email / OTA syncing works fine.


Now, is it at all possible/where do i get a larger key dialpad to use with WM6?

im having a different problem with wlan. the same issue was present in 0.1. im using the one without acrobat. about every 2 or 3 soft resets it looses my wlan settings i.e. my wep key. and also after every soft reset its not keeping a list of the commonly used programs in the start menu.

If you want video calling there isn't currently a big key dialer.

Otherwise any of the ETen dialers should work.

Yep - have the same issue here. Very low program memory. 21.88 free with nothing running on a clean base ROM (0.20.0). 0.10 didn't have this problem.

I am not an expert ...
But on the version 0.10 i tryed to install nice 3G icon(downloaded from one of the forum threads).
When i installed it it changed the icon but it also changed the first dialer .(the one that prompts for a SIM pin.
I'll attach the file if anyone wants to try it.....
I have not tried it on version 0.20.1 cos i like the current 3g and U/H icons.

This is not my work i just found it on the forum.

Can it be because the cache and storage cache tweaks ? More program memory are probably used by the tweaks. I have noticed that my memorycard still are missing sometimes.

Found a copy, then saw Kyphur's post. Tried the "special" version and BBC now works a treat. Guys - awesome work. Without you we humble users would be screwed.

Here are the issue I am experiencing:
-As reported there are less memory available, and maybe some memory leak (with Live messenger & other heavy programs)
-No dialer skin when entering PIN

On the other hand I am able to connect without any trouble on the internet through wifi & UMTS. Internet sharing works flawlessly on bluetooth (just had to ipconfig /renew my laptop cause it didn't recieved its IP fast enough)

First of all many thanks for this great job, Kyphur. :) The registry hack to change the keyboard layout (the last version listed) works fine on 0.21. I've set up Russian layout. The only thing I can't go through - when I change the layout I have to change the type of screen keyboard, for example to block reckognizer to be able to type. It was the same on my schipped wm5. I wanted to report that i am still suffering the same video tearing issues with TCPMP that i had with version 0.10 of the ROM (but were absent from th e AKU3.3 release).

I know that the dll from AKU3.3 has been included but the problem still seems to be there.

Reported and confirm that I buggered it somehow. On the list but other issues have higher priority.

Blackberry Connect that is a cab file install modded to work with this version, someone please try it. Must soft reset before trying to connect. (Use power button to shut down, after boot-up go to Settings > Personal > About and make sure build is listed as 17217.2.3.0).

First which of the two Rom are you running (v0.20.0 or v0.20.1)

Second a list of the programs you have installed.

We did not experience this is Beta or it would have delayed the release.

@Kartboy, I'm going to try them just to see how it effects my 8525, if you are experiencing concerns then give them a try (remember to power off and back on to apply the Reg changes).

@p.loong, Can't say what effect it will have until some of use do it. At some point increasing those numbers really doesn;t help much more we may find no difference or we many find that setting both at 8192 is a happy medium :)

Nope but when i go into the wireless lan settings when it says connected it is not fully connected and then after a while it pics up an ip...then loses it (i moved my hand a little), but then i put it down it connected with an IP and then I got into windows live, so now I am not sure if its the WPA2 network here or the TyTn.

That icon just isn't updating me that it doesn't have a connect at the time.

I will connect a router to the network at my desk. and try to connect to that as well.

Use task manager (thats in the rom, select the drop down list....) to find network settings such as dns..

Blackberry Connect that is a cab file install modded to work with this version, someone please try it. Must soft reset before trying to connect. (Use power button to shut down, after boot-up go to Settings > Personal > About and make sure build is listed as 17217.2.3.0).

I dont have the memory problem... I have V2 of the rom. I installed only tomtom and navigon.

I remember that tweak programs set these registry values... It speeds up youre device but uses also a lot of exspensive memory ;)

Now it is hanging at the htc screen prior. It shows the numbers at the lower left of the screen, then they disappear. Next the screen increases its brightness to the max for a few seconds. Lastly the screen returns to its original brightness but just hangs on the screen indefinitely.

I have a problem visible also in 0.1. I open calendar, create a new meeting and click the OK button. The device starts to work very slow and the calendar application doesn't close.

If I go to settings/memory and kill the application (which sais it doesn't respond) all comes to normal.

Any ideas. Maybe I have too many appointments... but I sync only past 2 weeks.

This is anoying because I use very frequent the calendar function. I find that the calendar from www.pocketinformant.com works ok.

But I encounter one problem. I can't seem to get internet to work on a AP (wifi). I believe this is because I have to turn on the checkbox 'This network connects to the internet' (on the work/Home connection), but if I press OK, nothing happens and the setting is discarded.:confused:

I promise that WMXL v0.30 will go straight to public release... I'm thinking that we might have to do a US & ROTW (rest of the world) build though (to fix some RIL related issues). This will also allow us to embedd Video Calling and PTT once we have optimized solutions for them.

WMXL v0.30 will be a pretty clean build, most of the additional Apps will be gone (as we've seen how they don't save storage memory in WM6). I want to leave HTweakC, Task Manager & PHM RegEdit in the Rom as they are good for chasing down problems. I'd also like to look into seeing how that RTM Rom has over 60mb of free Storage Memory Free. Might even pull out things like Office and create custom Cabs so you can install just what you want.

Is there a point to having 2 registry editors embedded (task mgr has reg edit built in, along with network, service, device etc etc) Not sure if PHM adds anything that TaskMgr doesnt....

I have this same problem with WMXL v0.1 but I am able to do a stylus reset (may be twice) to get it to boot properly.

I couldn't get it to boot at all, so I went back to rom version 2.06.502.3 for now. I'll revisit XDA Live in a little while after a few bugs are worked out. Had to get it stable again for work. XDA Live is a great project, and I will keep my eye on it for sure.

Blackberry Connect for the 8525 still doesn't work for me. Checked build: 17217.2.3.0 , Blackberry Connect itself shows "No Connection" right below the IMEI listing, I did set up internet using settings:

Still a no-go.

Oh, and I'm using the WMXL_Blackberry build.

Oh and on Cingular's Blackberry Page, It won't allow the registration of the PIN or IMEI saying that the information could not be verified.

Have you tried the newer versions of your spb software? Your spb weather seems outdated as well as maybe diary and pocket plus?? Latest versions of pocket plus and weather were released early feb07, Diary late jan.

I was having some problems with Activesync hanging up. I unchecked the "Enable advanced network functionality" in the USB to PC settings and that seems to have solved this issue.

Not sure if this other issue was related to the above but, the data connection icon (large 3G) changed to the activesync icon but would not change back when disconnected. I also had the WiFi icon there instead of the 3G at start up a couple of times.

Hi, unless I am incorrect, program memory is gonna depend on what all you have running, so it will fluctuate between users, I have 15mb free with just PIE open, I forget what it idles down to.

In refrence to the registry settings on v0.1 both of my keys are at 4096.

I had changed the font and filesystem cache within sktools early on, I should have just done it manually, but neither change within sktools was supposed to change a key to 4096, so Im not sure at the moment what sktools changed, Id have to look into it more.

I did some digging around using our old friend google and this is what some user had to say.

Beware: the default setting of "0" lets the OS choose how much cache to use... If you set it to say 4096 it will force your system to run with 4MB cache which boosts proformance for going through menu's email, word, etc... but if you try and run something like GeoRally (VGA game for dell axim) which takes more then 4MB cache to run right your game crashs and makes the system run like crap until its soft reset. Because of this I put mine back to 0... if your just using your ppc for email, solitare, word, excel... the tweak will definitley be a plus... but if u want to run demanding apps like quake, georally, etc. I'd leave it be. On a side note I do believe part of the speed enhancement (besides more cache) is your OS doesn't have to worry about checking on and changing the cache size with this tweak which saves resources as well.

I'm am having the same problem and am running the lasest versions of this software. Don't believe this can be the problem though, as the hang is on the HTC boot screen before the operating system starts so these apps should not come into play.

Pocket plus does come into play prior to startup...it checks to see if it should start in safe mode.. Have you unchecked safe mode and removed spb apps from today screen for testing?

Got strange bluetooth problems with v0.2 :

1 - Hands-free stays "connected" to my car even when i`m away. When picking up a call I don't hear anything untill I "redirect" it back to the phone!!!
2 - Bluetooth shuts down randomly after calls and only SR brings it back

Is the missing Security (Pin Entry Pad) Skin something that your going to have a fix for in v0.20?

Would we have more memory freed up if you had a WMXL RUU version with a Blank Ext_Rom which would replace our carrier's Ext_Rom? If one ever needed the carrier's Ext_Rom again, couldn't they just install the carrier's RUU and be back to the beginning?

"WMXL v0.20 uses my original Base Rom", which is what version of WM?

some questions:

1. Opening SMS (Text messages) -> the left key is "delete", any way to change it to "new (sms)?

2. System Tray: any chance to remove the whole system tray (no display of bat icon, com. manager, symbol for vibration alarm et al)? I want to use the space for my daily items

3. phonealarm: any reports on this SW? Does it work properly?

My first impressions: I installed version 0.20 on my T-Mobile MDA Vario 2 (German keyboard) without any issues.

Next step was to install the German.cap for crossbow in order to have a German keyboard and T9 etc and the cab for the t-mobile settings.

WM6 runs definitely faster (menus etc.), phone is stable.
Pin code for nuemric 4 digits one does not recognize after 4 digits that the entry is done as in WM5, so unlock (left key) has to be pressed.

Overall, it's worth to go for it, especially for the faster menus.

Having a problem getting themes to swith on version 2.0. I will keep messing around with it to find the problem. I can not get the posted AT&T theme to work. Most of the other themes that are posted work. Not a major problem, but I am just throwing it out there.

I have not noticed memory leak problem but I will keep monitoring this.
Is this problem on particular phone models with different radio's? It might help if everyone with memory problem would post specs of their Hermes.

I don`t know what you guys are doin but my WiFi works!
I tried it on a WLAN with WEP and Skype, Mimo and IE are runing well so far. I also have the German O2 MMS/GPS /Internet Settings with a Proxy. The WLAN is runing a little slow but it runs so far.

I`ve red that some of u have a Storage and Memory Prob.
After I installed TomTom, Skpye and Mimo it looks like this here:

Got strange bluetooth problems with v0.2 :

1 - Hands-free stays "connected" to my car even when i`m away. When picking up a call I don't hear anything untill I "redirect" it back to the phone!!!
2 - Bluetooth shuts down randomly after calls and only SR brings it back

Are you running unpatched M$ VoiceCommand v1.6? Is your device set to discoverable? Both of these caused this problem for me, regardless of ROM version.

WMXL doesn't have an extended rom, and doesn't modify yours (I think)...

If you want to back-up and delete your extended rom that's fine. You'll need to unhide the ext rom first, then you can back up to your pc using explorer etc - HTweakC will unhide for you. This is included in WMXL, or you can download elsewhere in the forums.

If you want to unlock your ext rom I think you need to be SuperCID first - which does this automatically (someone may correct me on this). Once unlocked you can delete your ext rom.

After deleting you'll lose any customisations such as carrier info etc if you need to do a hard reset, but you can make your own custom ext rom with just the cabs you need...

I just forgot to tell ya, that I only have the T-Mobile Pink phonepad to enter my SIM PIN but the phonepad when I wanna make a call is nice black.

I did not install some from the extendet rom. I tried it once and I can`t see any numbers to tap on my phonepad it was all white so I decided to leave it and made all the G3/GPRS/Internet and WAP settings manually.

Is it possible to get of the taks on top of the numbers, which shows the las calls?

This is NOT the t-mobile pad it is what happens when there is no skin, and no graphics for the buttons. Just so happens that one of the buttons is pink.

Al seems to work well. I use v0.20.1 on a Dutch Vario II :) :)

But I encounter one problem. I can't seem to get internet to work on a AP (wifi). I believe this is because I have to turn on the checkbox 'This network connects to the internet' (on the work/Home connection), but if I press OK, nothing happens and the setting is discarded.:confused:

It seems like I can't set the proxy setting of the work/home connection on the normal way. Without the checked checkbox 'This network connects to the internet', I can't get the Wifi connected to the internet....

But I found a workaround...

Step 1:
I noticed that if I fill in a proxy server name in the field, then the setting are applied. So I used this option the set a 'wrong' proxy (with a easy to ‘find’ name).

Step 2:
I searched in the reg for this proxy server. I found two key where these servers where set.

Step 3:
I emptied those two keys (not deleted, but I made them empty).

Step 4:
The proxy is enabled! on mine work/home connection! And most important internet is now working fine with the wifi


Second issue (but not a real important one)
I noticed that that I can’t configure Task Manager to exit applications in stat of switching them (like HTC x-button does). Earlier in this tread there was said that HTC x-button doesn’t work, but I can install it and it seems to work.

Overall, the device is much faster in response (I few slowdowns in TomTom), but everything was setup real easy. Push mail works fine (importing certs are no problem) and active sync 4.5 (needed) makes the Exchange connection (over internet) setup real easy!

I have this same problem with WMXL v0.1 but I am able to do a stylus reset (may be twice) to get it to boot properly.

The issue is SPBDiary. Don't install SPBDiary and everything will work. I had this issue once or twice. Its rather strange because I would hard reset, then install SPB Diary, and it would work (but it'll slow down the entire device, especially on bootup). I reflashed WXML v0.1 and hard reset, and this problem occurred with SPB Diary (same as yours).

This is using the latest SPB Diary releast released Jan 07. Some intelligent chap from this forum went to the SPB Forums and asked, and their response was that there are known issues with SPB Diary and WM6 due to some databases changes, but for the most part it should work. In saying that, they said there is no official release of WM6, and any release is considered a "homebrew".

The end result, I'm not using SPB Diary. If I got it to work, it'll slow down my device immensely, so I'll learn to live without it.

did anybody use his MDA vario 2 with XDA Live 0.20 as a modem? I connected USB and started Internet Sharing Web; thsi runs well for GSM, but if I switch to 3g (UTMS), the mobile is not recognized the right way as a USB device and therefore no 3G connection.

this one is a bit odd...i have 0.21 installed and now for some reason after using it most of the day it has suddenly started to freeze during splash screen (not the welcomehead screen) it does load but can take up to 3 soft resets for it to even get to the welcomehead! If it does make it to welcomehead it will boot as normal.
:s any help appreciated....also since installing wm6 my tomtom soft will occasionally freeze during the first few secs requiring a soft reset :s

So far so great! Loving the new version.

Only issues I've found so far is

1. On first run, the tap to setup device is slightly hard to read with the new boot screen - this is very minor and I love the new boot screen and would frankly prefer to live with this issue then to loose the new bootscreen. Just mentioning it because it is a slight useability issue though I suspect since nobody else has mentioned it, anybody who is upgrading is savy enough know the routine of a hard boot!

2. The issue with Set as Today Background issue still exists in this release. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296211) though it seems I'm the only person who seems to care about this so no biggy :)

Other then that, all the bugs I had with the first release so far seem to be repaired though I have not been able to test the bluetooth headset issue I've had (it's at home - didn't expect the release this early so didn't bring it to work with me!) Can anybody confirm with this release if pushing the button on a paired headset device is working now? On the last release, when I pushed it, I just got dead air (instead of the voice dial prompt) despite the fact that I had it installed and worked properly from the assigned button on the phone (Button 5 for me).

Maybe it's an issue with the headset then (Motorola H700). As for the wallpaper - it saves - it just doesn't create a landscape mode image though this is using the built in picture viewer in the rom - I've not tried Resco picviewer - maybe that'll work - I'm talking about the Picture and Video viewer built into WM6 (and WM5 which functions perfectly - this is why I'm listing it as an error)

I noticed in v0.10, there was a defined association for CER certificates -- I was able to install my own custom root CA cert by just invoking it through WM6 file manager. However, this association is gone in v0.20.

Does anyone with 0.10 know how (registry,program association) to enabled this in 0.20 ? I don't know how wm associates extensions with programs.

That is very much related to PTT. During the brief time I had PTT on my 8525, and also when I was running a ROM previous to the one with the PTT floating around in it, I would get those as well.

I've had this issue with both v.1 and v.2 - sometimes I will pickup my phone and hit the power button to turn it on and nothing happens. At this point, my only option is the use the stylus to reset the phone - nothing else will wake it up, even though the green and blue lights continue to blink as if it is receiving a signal. Calling the phone doesn't do anything - the phone doen't ring, although the caller will hear it ring until it goes to voicemail. I've noticed this both on battery and plugged in.

Only programs I have installed are SPB Pocket Plus, eReader, Microsoft Reader, Landware Movie Guide, and Google Maps. I am using Exchange push email with an Exchange 2007 server as well as a 15 minute update schedule on an IMAP server (Exchange 2003). I have a 1GB SanDisk micro SD card, and the radio version is 1.33.31.00 on a Cingular 8525. The band is locked to WCDMA and the US frequencies.

Otherwise - fantastic version! Thanks for all the work!

I noticed that alarms no longer work until the application that produces them is run. I noticed problems with SPB Time and Chronos.

When Chronos installs, it puts a shortcut in the startup folder which points to \windows\chronosstartup.exe or something like that. Even if you have an alarm, I do not see this process added to the events list until after the main Chronos program is run. I tried running the file manually but that did not work either. Anybody has any idea on how to work around this problem?

I'm still experiencing this issue, with both versions 0.10 and 0.20/0.20.1.

I thought I was the only one, however, it seems there are more than a few people having this issue.

In my case, my GPRS/3G connection will connect after a soft reset or a turning off and turning on of the phone from the comm manager. After 30 minutes of inactivity of the GPRS/3G connection, I can no longer connect. If I keep the connection on, then it continues to run. It only occurs after 30 minutes of inactivity of that connection.

I have used HTweakC on the phone and set the "Enable GPRS/G3 Auto Attach" to enabled. However, I have had no luck getting it working still. I don't want to enable the "Set Connection AlwaysOn" since I rarely use data connections as it costs far too much in this country.

Either way, it seems most people don't have the problem.

I have attempted to work out the problem by performing the following steps:

- flashing 3 different radios (1.27/1.35/1.34)
- reflashing XDA Live v0.10 twice.
- Hard reset the phone several times
- testing the connection after a hard reset with no applications installed.

None of these things fixed the problem at hand.

you may have some othe issue as even in vanilla 0.10 my voice dial button on my hbh-ds970's works and I can save to wallpaper from resco picviewer. cheers

Update - I downloaded the trial of Resco and set the wallpaper - took me a second to realize that you had to then set the phone to landscape mode and then also set that as wallpaper but it does work (which lead me to try doing the same with the program built into WM6 but alas that bug still exist). Oh well, Resco from my playing seems to be a much better program anyway so I'll probably just buy it and use it! :) Thanks for the suggestion Aquanaut88! (I'll be home in about an hour and then I'll test the bluetooth!)

so i just tried to flash the rom and it froze at 47%

now i'm stuck in my 1.09 bl, and i have a softbank that wasn't super cid so i have to go back to the original rom before i even get my english back. any idea why it froze?

Has anyone found that Media Player in this ROM does not play .wav files? Is it no longer supported?

Hey Andrew, Thanks for the detailed message, I may not have your answer but I have two thoughts to try. The first idea is to see that you are running the latest software/beta load of each program you have installed and that it is compatible with WM06. The second, make sure you do not have any of your programs running on your today screen (or any program you leave running) installed to your memory card. I have having multiple problems until I moved most of my programs to the phone memory.

I've had this issue with both v.1 and v.2 - sometimes I will pickup my phone and hit the power button to turn it on and nothing happens. At this point, my only option is the use the stylus to reset the phone - nothing else will wake it up, even though the green and blue lights continue to blink as if it is receiving a signal. Calling the phone doesn't do anything - the phone doen't ring, although the caller will hear it ring until it goes to voicemail. I've noticed this both on battery and plugged in.

Only programs I have installed are SPB Pocket Plus, eReader, Microsoft Reader, Landware Movie Guide, and Google Maps. I am using Exchange push email with an Exchange 2007 server as well as a 15 minute update schedule on an IMAP server (Exchange 2003). I have a 1GB SanDisk micro SD card, and the radio version is 1.33.31.00 on a Cingular 8525. The band is locked to WCDMA and the US frequencies.
