I found two days ago that doing a WM6 ROM upgrade on my Jasjar via a PC running VISTA Ultimate, the device got stuck in BootLoader Mode.
I have Bootloader v2.01 on my device.
The only way to recover was to attach the Jasjar to a PC running XP and then start from scratch.
I tried it again today and got the same result!
I recommend NOT to upgrade ROM on a PC running VISTA.
I hope this helps someone, somewhere.
Thankyou to all the gods that walk amongst us monkeys.

There is a thread about upgrading with Vista in the General part of the Universal forum... there are drivers supplied there to upgrade with Vista, some are successful.

never upgrade your ROM in Vista 32 0r 64bit doesn't work at all or may kill your device.
Windows Xp is the way to update ROM

OMG it is finally updating. Using XP.
Got stuck in bootloader after trying to flash from Vista. Thought I "bricked" (as you guys almost universally put it) the thing. Fixes didn't work (I already had the USB Modem driver installed, mtty didn't see any USB connection, and so on...)
Connecting to an XP laptop and works perfectly.

In Vista, in the boot loader mode you have to use the old XP drivers dated 2004. When you put your Universal in the boot loader and connect to your PC under Vista, than under device manager the USB driver must be 2004. If not then you have to install the old 2004 driver.
KOR! :)
