hi there,
i'm new in this forum and i'm going to get a trinity shortly but i've read here some problems with touch screen or audio problem...
At the end, how much are you happy with your trinity? should you buy it again?

Thanks all

pretty damn happy, best phone I've ever owned.
If I was buying new I would however go for the white version, the black still has issues with flaking paint.

Compared to what? In comparision to my wife the Trinity means nothing to me... Regarding all other things: I am very happy... better battery and this device would be my last phone.

The problems you're referring to are fairly minor; Using the touch screen does slow down the running of the machine whilst the screen is being touched. This doesn't affect generally tapping/dragging/etc, but it only really noticeable when you're playing games that require dragging around the screen a lot. The audio problem seems to be that there's less bass reproduction if you install one of the "GPS fixed" ROMS (although I believe one of the ROMs now has a patch for this).

These are fairly minor issues though, other than that, it's a superb machine. Good size/weight, and very good performance. The added bonus of GPS (if you install the new ROMs) makes it a unique machine on the market.

wishmaster... yes, i agree with you... but if you are in this forum to read these thread something tells me that it's more than a simple cell (otherway get a 50€ (30£) motorola )...

Best PDA phone I've used. I gave a way my Tytn after getting my Trinity. If you don't need/want a keyboard, it is great.

Black peeling, D-pad and OK button are failing

Failing buttons forced me to use scroll wheel and 2nd OK button. I like the phone even more now :)

Waiting for HTC to get the bugs worked out before I send it in for repair.

I am really happy with my white Trinity since I installed the second Dopod rom and enabled the GPS feature. I cannot think of anything that my device does not do that is expected of a modern mobile phone.
It is the complete article as far as I am concerned.
It looks cool, is small enough not to look stupid when making calls, and is packed with a great operating system and software, and to top it all it is fully customisable to suit my needs and requirements.

No complaints here at all.

Ok then, just one.....When will Orange release the official rom update for the Gps to work on Trinity's that were purchased before they released them?

That for me would be the icing on the cake. :)

It still ok but I'm not really happy.
htc still does not offer a gps update, the black coat is peeling off (already after one week!!!) and it has a bad w-lan adapter (bad signal and no working auto-detection wether the network uses WEP, WPA or WPA2 or a mix)

Funny situation. the rom is available in Orange France, but the phone is no more available. And the rom seems to not be available in Uk, but the phone is available.

Happy, but it is my first day :D

Got my (white) SPV M700 this morning and within 1 hour I:

1- Connected to Activesync & synchronised my contacts, calendar, notes, emails...etc.

2- I went into the favorit > Sat Nav & downloaded Orange's Sat Nav program (It woked a treat - No ROM flashing or anything ) It actually guided me back home.

3- Called Orange & asked them to unlock my phone so I can use my O2 SIM.

It is a lovely piece of kit (Phone, PDA, Camera, GPS, 3G, WiFi) All in one sexy machine :D that happens to be 100% compatible with my BMW's BT (it downloaded the entire contacts list (500 of them) to the car's computer.

When I got home I've played with it a bit, then put it on my desk and wheeped at its beauty :p

The PDA part is ok, a little bit slow but bearable. Although I'm having problem with the phone part mainly getting disconnected when trying to answer the phone and sometimes it wont connect even if I have a full bar.

I'll put it this way: I can't think of a better phone at the moment... It's got ALL anyone could ask for, in a very decent size. It's not perfect but keep in mind that it's a fairly recent model, and I have no doubt we'll get there.

The only thing I could wish for that's not there yet is a multi-touchscreen (cf. iPhone but not only), and as far as I know there's nothing on the market yet with that feature.

Thumbs up for you guys too, I discovered this site through a friend (just making my first posts, hi everyone) and I'm amazed by the quantity (and quality) of hard work you've all already put in to solving the existing problems and making things better for all. Keep up the good work, and big cheers...

My comparison is with a BlueAngel which I recently lost. Small form factor, brilliant display, noticeably faster wireless, great camera. IMHO the Trinity is a serious device...only problem now is what to do with my external GPS!

I've had mine for about a week, I have the white, its so cool!!!!!
I had the 838pro before this which made it a bit bulky and heavy with the keyboard which I don't miss.

All in all, its a great PDA/Phone

Now next challenge, setting up Push Email.

I am newbie in this forum, in general i am pretty satisfied with my HTCP3600i! However, i sometimes find it a bit lagging...just you know it's Samsung CPU not Intel.....i once had a thought of go for Atom Life in place, but ended i chose HTC, the reason is i've heard a lot negative comments about Atom's product batter life in a word Short!!

It's a good phone, but I'm not really happy with it.

Everything works but it doesn't work well.

W-lan - bad reception.
GPS - Fix takes long, not really accurate
Processor - good but not fast (Magician was faster)
bluetooth - works but no network access service
frontside buttons stopped working well.
paint is peeling off...
Camera is good but not great....

catch my drift?

This has to be the best phone/pda I've had. I bought the Dell Axim x51v nearly 2yrs ago, good bit of kit but no phone. Got the imate Kjam last year, very happy with it but then started getting annoyed with screen alignment issues and it was slightly bulky, not to mention it sliding open while in my pocket.
I now have the white P3600 and it is spot on. I don't miss the keyboard and it is nice and compact, the amount of software available is stunning. I would recommend this phone and even my missus is amazed that I'm not thinking of getting something else......yet!!

I have had this phone since it came out. When I got the phone i fried charging system, i was trying to create usb adapter to convert to a standard audio jack output. Since it was still under warranty, HTC Texas, sent me a new replacement (of course I told them it stoped charging. he he he.) But ever since I got replacement one, it never had any kind of problem that lot of people complain here. No drop calls, wifi works outstandingly, no screen freeze or response, all button works perfectly. GPS works great. I was in canada for a week on a vacation, I don't know what would I have done with out gps on this phone. The only complaint is paint pilling off. Those people who complain buttons dont work, this and that don't work, well take care of your damn phone. Treat it nicely and be gentle, just like you would to a nice, beautiful lady. Also did many rom upgrades and radio upgrades, always successful. So just very beautiful phone and many features for its size. They should make 3.5 inch VGA display on next trinity, and with g-force graphics chip.

Yes, it's nearly perfect. 3.5 VGA and FM Radio would be perfect ... whoops .. HTC is planning this called Polaris...

The Trinity was, up until monday the best phone ever. Had it since the beginning (one of the first test samples with GPS - I'm close to the fire, gheghe) and I've never had complaints. Oke, except the time charging stopped working. But luckily warranty took care of that. Phone was refurbished and worked better than ever. Great design (i've got the white one). Great functionality also. Built in GPS is a life saver. No more bluetooth gps receivers wandering around on my dashboard. I absolutely love this thing. Also the many Rom and radio updates kept increasing the functionality. It has been my faithfull companion for more then a year.

But on monday I got my hands on a Kaiser... And I must say, it's got what the Trinity lacks: more internal storage, more ram and quicker GPS, better battry life and a brighter screen. Now to cook a Rom :) It's a bit havier though.

I think I'm gonna make my brother in law happy with my trinity, 'cause it would be a shame to just let it lay in my cupboard.

Every day that i see him, I always admire a little bit more! This is for sure the best phone that I ever had! GSP , 3.5G , PDA, PHONE, little camera, PEN Drive(2gb mini-sd card) is everything that I want! Until now I never experience any problem with him, so I recommended this one or the new version with more memory! :o :)

I've had my P3600i for about two weeks now, and I'm really happy with it.

The only negative comment I have is that the gloss black finish is a fingerprint magnet.

Hey, the Trinity would be a really great phone, but Im so fuckin pissed right now...
After 2 month my Trinity started to have this display bug (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNv8FMy_mVU) then I sent it to repair...
they changed the display and some other stuff, it took 5 (!) weeks.
After 2 more weeks the same problem started again, and me as a stupid fool unlocked cid so perhaps i don't have any warranty (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335521) how i found out while researching the display problem... even if they didn't notice this the first time.

hmmm, i'm really dissapointed from htc

I've owned many mobile devices in my time from the Microsoft, Apple & Palm worlds, without question the HTC3600i is the most reliable and stable device i've ever used.

After a month of use i have no hesitation in recommending this phone.

As always newer, faster, stronger & better are just around the corner......but do remember most people need these devices to be fully functional 24x7, reliability needs to be a major consideration (one of the main reasons i'm avoiding purchasing anything from O2 again after dealing with MPS in Australia far too many times).

Happy hunting!

I have a white Trinity, which (as aforementioned in another post) I paid £120 for secondhand, came with a pre-registered sim card, has Windows Mobile 6.0, working GPS with full Tomtom 5, is unlocked to all networks, is fully customisable, has features that I've not only never seen on any other device, but also ones I've never even thought of putting on a handheld, it's great at playing videos due to its large screen, it has Touchscreen, WI-fi, Bluetooth, Infrared, I can used it for remote desktop on my home PC, as a TV remote, it has handwriting recognition, can play the older .Jad and .Jar java games (i've got over 1500 of them) and I've got a 4Gig miniSD card.....I mean...WOW...this is one truly awesome device, buy one, you wont be dissapointed.

Very Happy with it for a year now! Used it for Storage, Phone, SMS, blogging, Photo Viewing, Movie watching(home made), Geocaching(GPS), GPS Photologging, Calendaring, massive Contacts list, Information store, mapping, music, file management, torchlight, Internet browsing, Subway query, time telling, etc... and it sure beats all the PDA(and phones) i used to have, Nokia, Nortel, Motorola, Samsung, Casiopeia, XDA, XDAII, XDAIImini. etc
The best part, they are all in one device.

Once using a PDA, it's hard to get back to using a phone.

I originally had the spv m600 (HTC Prophet) with WM5. It had software issues (like alarms going off and not stopping, ever!) that were all solved by installing not very expensive Spb products like: spb mobile shell, spb pocket plus, spb time, spb backup... they sorted it and turned it into an absolute winner.

I recently changed to the spv m700 (HTC Trinity) as I needed satnav. I bought one on ebay that had been upgraded to WM6.1. Following a few issues (gps wasn't working as the previous owner had unlocked it and in the process flashed a non gps enabled radio version) it is now proving to be a great phone. I've installed spb mobile shell 2.1 which is visually and functionally performing well.

The only glitch is that sometimes it skips back to the Today Screen for no reason! (I have left a thread elsewhere to see if anyone else is experiencing this).

The only problems I have now are TEMPTATION and CONFUSION as this forum is crammed with people offering great new ROMS, but then again it's full of people who have busted up their phones because they have tried changing ROMS and cooking (whatever the hell that means!).

This phone seems capable of being tweaked so much, and sometimes to such great effect, it's tempting to learn how to do it! It's a great phone though, well recommended if you want a hobby as opposed to a way of just a way of keeping in touch with your mother. :-)

Not being dissapointed ever!
Have used for navigating both on ground and airborne, coord transforming, docs editing, watching movies, even party.
Now, with 4 GB SDHC on WM5 I'm even happier!
Keep it up HTC!

Start, Settings, Today, Items, Today Timeout <--- this defines the amount of idle time after which the device "skips back to the Today Screen".
Increase the value of disable the option and you should be fine!

Hey Tnyynt.

Thanks for the reply, but this happens when I'm within a menu, like spb mobile shell. Sometimes, Instead of staying on the new menu screen like it's supposed to, it hops back to the Today screen.

Bizarre...

I am more than happy with this cool little gizmo, it has almost everything, to make it the most awesome device HTC just need to add higher resolution on the camera 4.0MP or more would rock and some sort of light/flash, it also needs FM radio and Digital TV would be even better, and a 3.5mm jack would not go a miss.

Anyone found a good case for this phone? I just got the Krusell, but because of all the buttons on the sides, the case is not very good fitting. Shame, because the spv m600 Krussel case was perfect.

Hi,

Overall, am happy with my Dopod D810 but with two main issues:

i) Touch screen bug. Start Menu pop-up when thumb tapping or even when composing a message. (There's a workaround this already :))

ii) Secondary camera doesn't work at all even using video calling. I got this messages - "Unable to start Camera. Unable to initialize camera."

The rest is generally okay with me :). I really wish if there's a workaround for item ii) above. :(

Daneal
