Trust me the only thing which keeps me in molski 3.3 is that camera application.
Its better than cool camera. Now whenever you are in night mode in any rom including faria wm6 you will get irritating blue speckles which kills the instinct of using the camera.
But the camera app in molski 3.3 which is altered by faria doesnt give a single blue speckles in night mode even in total dark. It is the best application for camera i have ever seen.
If you could just put this in this rom ill be able to use this rom, and many other people tooo.

Great work mun_rus. And thanks nottoosmart for keeping "fixed" version and saving lots of people HUGE amount of time of going through all these pages.

Since you know what fixes you put in "fixed" version, can I ask if you list them all on 1st page (when you will release next or "unlimate fixed" version)

CPUscaler is an option inside of BatteryStatus 1.x Beta. So if you get 1.04.200 Beta 2 or 1.04.201 Beta 3 then you already have it. Just go to options, click the OMAP tab and there is a check box for it. I only specify the min on cpuscaler and don't have anything else enabled on it. (so I'm overclocked to 260, but have cpuscaler set to 149). Batterystatus will then show you the current CPU speed which will now go up and down depending on your use. When the phone is idle, it drops to the min speed (which helps conserve battery).

Here's the project website:

In general, it seems that upon coming out of sleep the phone is a bit slow to acquire the network (t-mob). This perception is relative to previous stock 2.26 wm5 t-mob. Might this relate to the radio version discussions?

Another nit, I made a phone call a short while ago and was unable to hang up. The hangup button didn't quit the call nor did the keypad end button. It is possible that it was a t-mob problem (I was connected to my wife's voicemail on the same account), but don't know.

On the camera issues, I suggested "coolcamera" as a way to quickly see the effects of various settings. The version I tried (1.4) worked great, except that it didn't turn on the wizard light. Please note, I am NOT suggesting that it be incorporated, only mentioning it as a useful camera tool and diagnostic.

Ok, this shouldnt have anything to do with the radio. I dont experience this issue ever. I do however have Radio 2.19 and i havent had an issue. Radio 2.19 will be included with the ultimate fix release

Ok, good, im not the only one that experienced this. This is due to the fact that parts of PhonePad were missing. A good friend pointed this out and it will be in the ultimate fix release.

Im thinking of using CoolCamera to get the settings out of the registry and incorporate them into the registry for the HTC Camera that is included with the rom. Im open to suggestions on alot of things, but after reading a few pm's and posts I dont want to actually put software directly into the rom, but I will post on the release thread a couple of cabs that I suggest for use. Plus keeps you from having to hunt down the apps yourself. Things like Contacts Backup, BatteryStatus (the Beta 3 version due to major fixes)

Keep the fixes and suggestions coming. Im still working on the initial setup bug that we got going on.

PS: I am sticking with the lack of use of extended rom to keep our shell tool challenged users happy and able to use the rom without issues. ( I still love you easy )

Is it possable to make your rom be Overclocked standered without a app, right from the rom?
having Micromedia flash built into the final rom for this would be helpful maybe GPS hack too(i haven't been able to get it to work) or decent reg editor built in..
maybe Bluetooth and wifi shortcuts next to the batt, right now I use the bat status. Working Internet calling. Google maps would be a nice add its a great app

this wouldnt be for a built in feature but how about like a tmobile cab to install alll the settings like tzones and hotspots same goes for like cingular and each carrier. I don't know if these are out already I haven't really looking my MDA is being repaired now rocking a razr till thursday

In my opinion, the best ROM is a clean one !

Nothing else besides the MOST Necessary !

I got a question : When you buy a "Windows XP/Vista" or any other...,
it comes with all you can possibly want ? Not !
but a very important option
- you can install whatever you want

Don't judge a rom by how many aplications are integrated, but ask yourself if you use them all...
It's hard to integrate an app and it's a worthless job if it's a pointless app

As I promissed, here are my splash screens

Thank you! But how are you compressing these to get them under the 32K limit (I'm using the tools in the thread on the Wizard Upgrading forum for Change all 3 splash screens) to be able to build the .nb files? When I run the compress tool I can't get the 1st one to go under 68K. Is there another way of doing this? (I converted the first from .bmp to .gif then saved it back out to .bmp to simplify it, but still can't seem to compress it small enough).

Sorry, not wanting to hijack this thread but just curious.

Try using the Image converter from Molski's kitchen...

Open the bmp, and then save it again as bmp. It should work. Nevermind the size, it's not important, only resolution...I wasted about an hour before I figured it out

Ok, now I am positive that the sys occasionally crashes under poorly defined circumstances when I access the net via WiFi.

On crash while trying Skype.

Another when browsing.

Another while playing around trying to see if I could get t-zone access.

And some others, don't recall or wasn't aware of any correlation. But there were other infrequent crashes.

I do overclock (using xcpuscalar b/c of nice user interface and dynamic clock rate as compared to omapclock). When used wm5 I used smartskey and omapclock, but never had any problems or crashes.

Btw, "crash" means it does a "soft" reboot. I assume that the OS is crashing and the boot loader is automatically xeq'd.

This problem is infrequent, but I am now certain that it does exist. I don't know how to reproduce it at this point, other than saying to use net access. Also, I don't know whether this is related to the apparent freezes I mentioned before. Haven't seen any freezes lately, just these crases. Also, I am running with quite a few apps installed, but besides xcpuscalar I think only spb mobile shell and the windows stuff is being xeq'd.

Post in the topic problems (and solutions) you have with this rom, not requests for applications you would like to have. Some of them are even not free (like CoolCamera)!

I noticed this yesterday and I am running Faria's ROM. I honestly don;t remember if I tested Wifi when I first installed the ROM but I think I did, which means this problem developed since then ???

The only thing I noticed was that when I go to network cards, there was a tab that allowed you to view available networks. This is no longer visible, but perhaps this is because Wifi is turned off.

BTW, I also tried turning it on via PhoneAlarm and no go there either.

I am getting pretty tired of various connection issues with all the WM6 ROMs I have tried, either it is wifi, GPRS stability or, general reception, and it seems there is no real solution. I can put up with software instability but I need to be able to count on a solid connection. I am starting to thing about (gasp) going back to WM5 for stability. I can't believe I just wrote that sentance.

Funny, I was just thinking this morning about what WM6 is really buying me over what I liked about the Faria AKU 3.3 ROM. Sure its cool and has the geek factor of saying I'm running WM6, but as stated by Faria, AKU 3.3 is actually a newer base than a lot of WM6. I do think some things are faster (but then I'm also running a newer version of BatteryStatus now to do overclocking which I think helps too).

The geek part of me loves playing with WM6 and all, but the rest of me is starting to think maybe getting to a proven rom may be the real way to go.

With that said though... The mUn and Faria releases of WM6 are WAYYY better than MBE and earlier WM6 roms (IMO). Lots more working reliably. Then with nottoosmart digging deep, I really feel this one is going to get even more stable (so I'll continue to be drawn to that ;)).

I do overclock

I would first rule out overclocking as the problem by disabling it and seeing if you still see these soft resets.

I used to overclock mine to 260mhz with Battery Status, and everything seemed fine, except 1 program. A game called Skyforce Reloaded. The game would just exit back to the today screen after finishing a level instead of loading the next level. I reproduced this many times. I then lowered my clock to 247mhz and never had a problem since. I think this game was just stressing the CPU more (producing more heat) causing the crashes.

I've had the same thing happen to me in this ROM and PDA Viet 3 ROM. Hitting it twice usually enables it. If not, I soft reset and it works after that. It sounds like this issue is in all flavors of WM6 that are out now for the Wizard from what I've read in the various threads.

Well here is an intersting update... right before lunch I loaded 3 things..
Battery status beta 3
Faria's cap lock fix
Faria's Live connection fix

i got back from lunch, decided to try the double tap once more for kicks and giggles and....

It came right on!!!!

I have no idea which one did it, although if works slows down (not bloody likely, though) I will try uninstalling...

UPDATE - I see a wireless signal, but am not connecting. will update in a bit.

This seems to be an issue with all the "new" ROMs (mUn, Faria, etc.) so I'm guessing it's an issue with the ROM all of these releases are based on (TyTn?) the older Crossbow ROMs (Universal-based?) did this as well, but FAR less often. I also got random EDGE/GPRS disconnects with the new ROMs that refused to reconnect until after a soft-reset.

Personally, I think the older Universal-based ROMs (Orwell, PDAViet, MB, etc.) seem more "compatible" with the Wizard hardware. After a good bit of tweaking, PDAViet 4 has still been the most stable of WM6 ROMs on my MDA.

Having said that, I'm currently back on Xelencin's 2.26 T-Mo ROM. I miss WM6, but no WM6 ROM I've tried has been able to run Mapopolis without issues, and Mapopolis-compatiblity is more important to me than HTML e-mail or x# MB of extra RAM!

I hope the cookers keep up the good work, but I hope they don't burn themselves out before "real" RTM versions of WM6 are released. It seems to me that you guys are doing a lot of work tweaking pre-release ROMs that work 99% already just weeks before the "real" WM6 will be released on devices. Wouldn't now be a good time to take it easy and wait to attack the officially-released versions as they trickle out on new devices or as upgrades?

Just a thought... ;-)

Not questioning any of the reports from others, but I've been using the wifi and have no problems connecting at all. Connection is usually to a home network 802.11g with TK-PSK. It swiftly and automatically connects after selecting WLAN in the Comm menu. Setup was essentially the same as in wm5. Wifi companion also runs fine.

Btw, if anyone knows of a utility that makes it easier to adjust/select networks I'd appreciate the input. Most of the apps I've seen, like wi-fi companion, WiFiFoFum etc. are "eye-candy" rather than providing tools to select and/or adjust things.

Also, is there any way to make a java applet (e.g. opera mini) appear in the programs/applications list? At the moment, I have to execute the midlet manager to see whether opera mini is there (and run it).

Digress-
A while back in wm5, I tried out a combination of Netfront and Flexmail. Netfront seemed to be a bit on the sluggish side and a bit much junk, splash screens etc- flexmail didn't seem to integrate as well with the wm stuff as outlook and I didn't see that much advantage over pocket outlook (which the system is burdened with, whether you want it or not).

Not that I know of. I asked this over in the Wizard forum and never got a response. I've seen where if you run the IBM one (but installing it is quite the ordeal I understand) then you can create a link to the midlets.

I've wondered about trying to run these with Mysaifu JVM but haven't tried yet (might play with that tonight). You can definetly link directly to things running with it (I had played with it last fall trying to get a java app to work on my phone, but had certificate issues since it was a secure app).

Most of the apps I've seen, like wi-fi companion, WiFiFoFum etc. are "eye-candy" rather than providing tools to select and/or adjust things.

tnx.

Right after I instaled this (mUn_aRTM_10.2.0.8_WWE) ROM, wifi did work, I did set my conections @ home and my office. Now after I instaled my programs(it is a long list) and did the regestry tweaks Wifi is not working at all:( . My guess is one of tweaks is not made for this ROM and creates the problem, solution is may be if We miror ''Communication Manager'' regestry right after instalation and now when the Wifi problem is a fact.

I just checked- I do have opera mini installed, though haven't been using it. I added it some days ago and don't think I have clicked any links in the browser before now- so no way of telling whether this caused a problem.

- - -
Also, is there any way to make a java applet (e.g. opera mini) appear in the programs/applications list? At the moment, I have to execute the midlet manager to see whether opera mini is there (and run it).

i am running this version of opera without problems...

It is not Opera that is the problem, it is clicking an emailed link in outlook on ppc. Clicking the link generates the diagnostic documented above. By itself, opera mini works fine.

You can definetly link directly to things running with it (I had played with it last fall trying to get a java app to work on my phone, but had certificate issues since it was a secure app).
http://www2s.biglobe.ne.jp/~dat/java/project/jvm/index_en.html

Thanks... I'll look for your further inputs. I believe you may be able to bypass the secure certificate issues by using the Microsoft "security configuration manager". It was download off a MS site.

I use 273Mhz on mine! No problem at all! I got problems when setting up to higher than that! Like 286Mhz for instance.:o
So, I recommend you to try it out using BatteryStatus and leaving the "Set after soft reset" option disable.

Good luck!

happened to me too, when you click the wifi button again - wifi turns on right away, before the "spinner" has a chance to appear.
btate0121, is it the same with your phone?

nope. normally i have to reset a time or two to git er done.

nope. normally i have to reset a time or two to git er done.

I had that problem too. Not anymore
My suggestion is that when you flash a new rom, try NOT to do any more tweaks. Or at least give it a chance and tweak only after you tried it for a few days..and if you still need a modd, ONLY THEN do it.

I'm saying this because many of the roms already have tweaks...actually besides Orwells and the stock ones, all have tweaks and mabe something doesn't go as plan when you overwrite stuff, bugs may appear.

Just my opinion. I didn't thought of looking more into this problem, mabe I will later(it didn't bother me dough to double click the WiFi link, but the soft reset did).

If I switch to vibrate and back to ring mode for a second time, it works as it should. Anyone know how to fix this bug without having to switch back and forth twice? I have a problem with gprs... it disconnects during the phone call and after that quickly reconnects. This is a little annoying.
It did not happened on MB or Orwell. I could use both voice and gprs at the same time with no problem.

In addition, windows live does not synchronize throw the network when connected to pc. It uses only gprs.
When i open my device and close it back (screen rotate) windows live does not feel the today width witch is also annoying.

Another problem is that some web pages will not display like now.netapp.com

I must say that this is first wm6, and i think i tried them all, that does not crush. On every other rom if i left my MP3's to play for long enough i will get a device.exe has crushed...

Also, radio 2.61 works fine for me. Did anyone have problems with it on this rom?

Not sure how to say this (since you claim it worked before) but this is a limitation of the hardware and GPRS itself. You can't do voice and data at the same time. The Hermes can do this with G3, but the Wizard has never been able to do data and voice at the same time.

In addition, windows live does not synchronize throw the network when connected to pc. It uses only gprs.

There is a Registry hack you have to do on your pc. Save this as a .reg file and run it on your PC
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000

These are not issues with the ROM itself but the limitations of the applications and hardware. No amount of tweaking the registry can fix it. And GPRS does not disconnect, it goes into a suspended state. Has done this ever since the device release and will continue to do so until you replace youre phone.

Yeah, the difference is that with WM6 you see the icon reconnecting whereas with WM5 it would just reappear, especially if you had turned off notifications. I noticed this since I just switched back to WM5 since I was having to many issues with reliability and stability related to phone calls with the WM6 I tried.

I definitely miss a few of the features of WM6 and I hope that this ROM will work but I simply don;t have the time to deal with the lockups while on the phone, having to reset the phone to get a GPRS connection back after signal loss (with 2.19 radio), not being able to answer phone calls etc.

I am back to Molski's 3.3 and will run that until this vanilla comes out and I see what happens.

Would definitely suggest a new thread for it BTW, since this one is already quite long!!

Not that ive noticed.

I've been using the original rom that mun made since it was released and never had any troubles with it. The most amount of free ram ive had is 32.55Mb which i think is outstanding. Its quick responsive and stable and im in no rush to try anything else just yet.

Keep up the goodwork mun.

Please share the magic mUn!!!

Cause mUn is the developer and is up to his discretion to release or not. Besides with all the negative crap and the fix, gimme, gimme, after his releases, I prob would do the same.

mUn, still running your last release and with the latest beta of BatteryStatus it runs so sweet and stable... Good Job. Will try your next Rom when you release it.

Mun's fixed ROM is the best; I switched to it from Faria's and this one is the best I have seen so far. The battery has lasted from yesterday morning at 7am until today Sunday at 7pm now as we speak and it is only at 40%!! My battery never lasted that long and this is with multiple calls and everything. I dont know about everyone else but I am sticking to this forever!!
Thanks Mun!:)

1) Don't know how but all ringtones were named like that Ring-Standard .wma
They has a space befor extencion..that's why they coudn't be seen in Ringtone selection(
Just Copy new ringtone or rename these, if you like it
2) If you see that Commmanager doesn't show icons correctly, just reinstall RegFix.cab in windows folder
3) Volume of incoming call is quite...working for solution

On the beta released trail ver. you noted above the ringtone issues with the space and the solution was to rename or copy. I have attempted this multiple times. The 3 primary ringtones under \windows come up as read only files w/ no access to delete or rename. (Is there a fix that can be provided or patch that can be applied?)

As for the (RegFix.cab) file can some one post this item f/ download to correct the extended rom load issue. I have attached the link where this issue is noted if further details are required. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298701&page=4&highlight=PDAMobiz_Prophet_WM6_V0.99)

Thanks to those who can assist in resolving this.

My rom does have memory issues, but the release I made was m$ like. Meaning, it has everything that m$ would release to a carrier. So none of the tweaks are there. If you tweak it, you can get the 28mb of ram that you seek. My release was for a good base for chefs. And in all honesty, I still believe it is. I really dont notice the diffrence in memory. The device is fast as hell. But hey, Im waiting for muns release too. I cant wait to see what this guy comes up with. He amazes me everytime. LOL. Too bad I wont be able to play with it much since my new promotion and I cant keep the phone on WM6

I just flash your version of Mun base rom, I notice when I flash it it comes out as 11.57mb or so rams left it keeps dropping abit but not much then stops, but all you do is wait a few seconds well for me it was about 20 seconds and it jumps to 27.79 and stays there. Which I think is normal cause it takes time. So I don't see what this memory leak is? I find it prefectly fine. Good work.

Add http://anonym.to/? in front of the url (so it will have http:// in it again after the ?). This should allow you get get it from rapidshare.

News on what??? He announced he has a rom he's working on with some specs and from the sound of it, he isn't planning on releasing it (or anytime soon) (Heck, he released this ROM and then walked away from it due to other projects. It was a fantastic cooking job but I think mUn is more into tweaking for the most performance / memory / latest version and not for continuing towards a bugfree release. No offense intended here to mUn, its his style, and as a cook, thats perfectly fine as it helps other ROMs learn where to make better performing ROMs). Sure its a tease but cooks can do that (I think most of the cooks are always playing with ROMs with no intent to release their toys).

Why do so many here think they have to have a copy of everything and have it right now (I wonder how many of the people in the Wizard forums are actually over the age of 18 at times based on comments and posts)? Then when they get it, they complain about bugs, or this app is missing, or this app is installed, or that it has .3meg less memory than another ROM so they are switching back...

Sorry for the rant, but these posts about demanding (even if its just implied) are getting old.

Is that based on 195MHz (stock) speed? What storage card do you have? That read speed is like 4x the speed of most specs I've seen. It's even faster than reading from the Main Storage!

Oops, that was with 247Mhz overclocking, forgot to turn the Battery Status off. Run it with 195Mhz the results were pretty much similiar to the Mun's rom. And the reading speed of storage card was like 5000kb/s. I bought it on ebay, it think it was this card http://cgi.ebay.com/2GB-SANDISK-miniSD-Mini-SD-Card-2G-GB-Nokia-N71-N73-N80_W0QQitemZ320096658253QQcategoryZ93930QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem.
But I was experiencing file curruption using it with WM5. So, formated , partitioned it millions of time, until it finally stoped corrupting files. And I don;t know, maybe something happened to it after all this stuff I did with it :)
Don't know the original benchmarking.

I wasnt implying that. Mun has made a masterpeice that i know, and all the new cooker is coming up with his rom just tweak it a little bit. Even a fifth grade student could do that,Its not a big deal. Hi mun_rus,
Any word on the new ROM? :(

sirshannon
11th May 2007, 01:41 PM
I installed Faria Crossbow about 2 weeks ago, been having major problems since then (missing texts and calls).

Yesterday I spent a few hours on this board until I saw that the problem is due to the version of the radio and not waking/passes messages when the mobile is asleep (probably).

So I changed to a different radio version, no help.

So I cooked up a semi-plain ROM via Faria's kitchen. And over the next 7 or 8 hours, had to pull out my battery 5 or 6 times because the thing would completely lock up at times (no backlight, no response, green/amber/blue indicator lights still flashing as expected).

So I installed RUU_mUn_aRTM_10_2_0_8_WWE-Fixed.exe around 8pm last night. Still had radio problems.

So around midnight, I installed T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radio_Only and things seem to be working.

Here is how I know:

I have a scheduled weather sms every morning at 7am. I haven't been getting those because my phone goes to sleep overnight due to non-usage and doesn't wake enough to pass me the message when the sms is recieved at 7 am.

This morning, I got my first 7am message since upgrading to the first WM6 ROM I tried.

w00t!

THANKS EVERYONE! (Those of you who made the ROMS, recooked/fixed them, reported radio problems, helped troubleshoot them, etc.)
