You need to check if your wizard is a G3 or a G4 device.
do a soft reset and check your IPL/SPL; a G4 PDA will report an IPL and SPL similar to 2.21.0001 and a G3 PDA will report something similar to 2.21 (notice the G3 doesn't have the trailing .0001!)

If you have the MDA 90 days call T-Mobile and get the unlock code/sequence from them. It's free and they will give it to you.

Since I added my MDA to a family plan they gave the unlock code/sequence without the 90 day wait.

Yeah, it's not as slick as a cool program, but it does work and it is free.
