In my hermes, on comm manager there is the icon of wifi, but it's stay off!!!
same thing happened to me, but not after the wm6 flash, I flashed to aku 3.3. Basically in the comm manager you click on the wlan icon, the wait icon pops up for about 3 seconds, but it doesnt even turn green, it just stays greyed with the x on it. I'm pretty sure its a hardware problem, I haven't been able to fix it with multiple flashes and hard resets. I only know of one other person that has it, I forgot their name, but if you search for "WLAN broken," or something like that you will find them.
Tell me if you got it fixed, and if so, how

Working fine to me.
But .... few times I noticed that even that I click the icon on the comm manager the icon do not change (not sure what is happening to the WiFi itself).
Clicking it again (setting off) and once again and everything working fine.

I had some issues with wifi on XDA 0.20, it worked, but kept disconnecting and losing the security parameters.
I changed to LVSW ROM and wifi works perfectly.

This is what you mean cjchriscj????
If it is so then everybody should know that appart from the risk of bricking your PDA you can lose important functionality...
Again my Tytn's WLAN was 100% operational just before upgrading...

Can these people who have wifi problems after upgrade please use mtty and the info 8 command to report if they have any bad blocks in NAND. Info is in the wiki under bootloader commands.
The reason why i ask this is because this has been mentioned in another thread and some discovered that it was due to bad blocks in NAND (ie, flash went horribly bad).
Report your findings

I had a very similar problem with the phone and wifi. In Comm Manager both were switched off, when I clicked on them they would attempt to come on, sometimes for a good 20 seconds then go out again. Sometimes the phone function would switch back on but would then crash the phone.
After numerous hard resets with no luck, my solution was to get Orange to replace it which they did promptly, sorry I can't be of any further help.
BTW. I can't remember the specific cause of it now, but I had not flashed the ROM, everything was standard. I may have been installing new software.

@frequeni
As i feared. You have bad block in NAND which is the likely cause of your problem. Best bet is to contact Olipro who is working on an SPL that will ignore bad blocks in NAND, flash original ROM and then return device for repair/exchange.
Unfortunately at this time i cannot suggest further, sorry.
EDIT: Do not attempt to reflash your device without getting a modified SPL first!! This will do more harm than good.

Yeah definately if your taking the reflash and return route. Dont forget to flash back the original bootloader after.

not that I know of, does anyone else have this problem and is out of warranty? If so if you are going to ship it in to get it repaired, tell me how much they are going to charge you, I was going to ship mine in for out of warranty repair, but I don't feel like paying the $28 diagnostic fee just for them to give me an outrageous repair price
Does anyone that has this wifi problem also started to have overheating and battery draining problems?

With Olipro...his answer to my PM...
that is a manufacturer marked block; it existed on your phone when you bought it, it's nothing to worry about since it exists beyond the normal memory area and does not result in less storage or anything like that.
Has to be another thing...
Any ideas?

My WIFI still worked as it still connected to my router. The problem is that the PIE would time out. I was able to have success using my WIFI with Opera. Works great and fast.

I have also just installed v.0.20 XDA Live rom and have lost all wireless connectivity. Working fine, before hand, flashed, and not working any longer.
Tried soft and hard rests - but to no avail.
I really hope that a ffuture XDA Live ROM fixes this.
EDIT- Ok weird city - the wifi is sorted again, I tried one last soft reset, leaving the wifi icon showing as on in connection manager and it work fine. Picked up my connection and connected as per normal. Hope thats it sorted.

do a search for Wifi and EEPROM and it has quite a few threads about it. However, it seems that your wifi is messed beyond repair as there's no tool to rewrite the EEPROM

no tool that "we" here at XDA-Developers have right? but If I were to ship it to HTC out of warranty repair, they could rewrite it without having to replace the mainbord costing me over $200 right?
