Hiya all.

Looking for advice on GPS units for the exec/universal. I'm new to GPS and want a unit that has good battery life as will usually be used on the move. Would be using TomTom, although not sure which version yet. Would really appreciate some advice from people who have units already. Is there anything I need to watch out for?

Thanks in advance :)

I've been very happy with the Globalsat BT-338 -- it's a SirfIII-based unit with a high-capacity 1700mAh battery, so you can get 15-20 hours operation out of a single charge.

I'm more than happy with my GPSlim 236, works well with TT6, is rechargeble and actualy lasts arround 8 hours on a full charge. Not let me down yet!!

Whatever you go for, try to make sure it has the Sirf Star III chipset - have a look at the forums at www.pocketgpsworld.com (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/)

The solar GPS receivers are also quite good because it can be charged by the daylight at the same time while you are using it! This gives you a good battery life of 15 hours also.

I suggest you get the one with mini-USB type of charging like the solar one I just mentioned. Because there are quite a lot of in car charger including some Universa's car holder come with mini-USB. So by having mini-USB means you can charge it much easier in the car really.
