I just upgraded my TyTn to LVSW. Looks great and seems a bit faster as well.

Unfortunately Blackberry connect is not working for me. I tried versions 2.1.2.52 and 2.1.2.54. It says network available and tries to connect, but ends up in status "not connected". How did you get it to work?

I understood that one have to hexedit coredll.dll to change the OS version ( just what will be reported to BBC and others ).
Basically this is what kyphur did on WMXL.
I do not feel brave enough to poke around .dll and take a chance to brick my 8525, so I am flashing now WMXL.
Otherwise comrade LVSW did an excellent and cleanest ROM.

Careful with your terminology there lvsw. Windows Mobile 6 Classic basically means WM6 without Phone Edition.

I have the Cingular 8525 as well and I've been using the XDA ROM since v.1 and now use v.20.1 and love it. No problems with the install and no major problems with the overall experience. There are a few nagging issues - dropping the WLAN connect upon rest mode and having to reconnect and other very minor issues. But, the ROM is fantastic and fast and fully compatible with our setups. So, I say go for it!

I don't post here very much but I want to thank everyone who has been working on these WM6 ROM versions...especially this one. It is the only one I have loaded that I feel I can use reliably (others don't leave enough program and storage memory available to me). This really looks great and has almost as much memory as I had with WM5...plus, it may have fixed a bluetooth issue I was experiencing...I hope!

Yes WM6 requires activesync 4.5. not 4.2

I am uploading now the LSVW WM6 Themed w/Radio 1.34 and SPL 1.10.Oli

The only reason I am putting the Oli SPL in there is to force it on people. it will save a lot of headache later on if you have the SPL 1.10.Oli. The radio 1.34 is being combined since I get many PM asking for an OS with Radio so I do it asap to cut down on PM.

yes, i got kind of excited for a minute, then it also got disconnected. i had to modify the os.nb so it shows version 5.1.195.

1. anyways i uploaded the modified os here http://rapidshare.com/files/20776941/WM6_for_Hermes_LVSW_Edition_51195.zip.html

2. flash OS.nb to your phone

3. Changed HKLM\System\Versions and edit the Aku string from .0.0.0 to .2.3.0

3. Restarted Hermes (holding power button) The resulting version is 5.1.195 (Build 17217.2.3.0)

4. Installed BBC 2.1.2.54

5. Install Blackberry Desktop 2.1.1.21 (for BES users)

ROM works really stable and very fast.

I have tried to install WMXL Pocket MSN. Installation was successful, but I can't find MSN program. I would like to have hotmail account on it.
I tried Windows LIVE on XDA - live, but it change wireless settings and some wifi programs (for instance SecureW2 TTLS) don't work anymore.

I'd stay away from Radio 1.34. I tried that and 1.35 and I got so many line drops I couldn't count. I have found Radio 1.27 to be the best and most stable yet.

I'd take your word for it, I have an auto radio upgrade from this rom to Radio 1.34 and started having problems like phone hanging only when I am opening the phone pages (after a call, or checking the call history) I just finished upgrading to the 1.35 and now I read your reply, do you still recommend it?

Kyphur's doesnt use the vanilla rom any more either. So theres the vanilla rom, Kyphur's and this one. All slightly different all have their pluses and minuses.

Kyphur's has been tweaked a fair amount. It has a couple of issues /(mostly fixed) but is a good, well done rom. its customised with apps pre-installed.

LVSW's rom is a slightly newer build, and comes in a clean version, meaning nothing installed and stock. I much prefer to have this as it gives me the freedom to pick which apps i want. Also, i've found it more stable and ever so slightly faster than the .20 release of WMXL from Kyphur.

That said, i found Kyphurs .10 release slightly better than the .20 release as well.

Its horses for courses really. If you unsure, best go the WMXL rom. if your a little more competant and want a better build IMO, then go the clean LVSW rom.

I have upgraded today and am loving it thanxs for all the hard work i have just two quick question:
1) When i turn on my phone and put in my pin the keypad is white? but every where else it is normal.
2) I cant not get my U symbol i only get 3g but in the dialer windows it say UMTS Telstra which is correct.

Well put, I couldn't agree more!. I was on .20 WMXL but now moved onto this ROM and I'm also finding it slightly faster and stable,could it be becuase it's slightly newer rom. good work guys. I can't wait to see what Kyphur's .30 WMXL will be like. things can only get better, bring on the next version!

then you don't need my compiled ROM either. I make that combo for the average user. Also ALL radio over 1.27 is BL 0108 but they are downgradeable. Read some radio wiki for the correct info.

i hate to put a downer on the ROM... im finding the response a little bad... it scored a lower rate then xda live .20 in spb benchmark...

just the regular things are slow also... click start and 1 maybe 2ms response where xda live was instant...

Dude...did you rekey your network settings after upgrading?

you must do that after every upgrade, or use a cab file to enter the network settings into your phone.

I dont have that -- I think. Did not measure it with any equipment except my eyes. Seems to me that clicking start immediately shows the startmenu. No delay.

Yep. But "managed to get it working" is not the right way to put it for me. Did not do anything special. Just installed it and it worked.

I dosn't have parrot, but have free hands from Seat Leon, and have a lot of problems with WM5 from orange, and changed to WM6 from this thread, and all problems with free hands and tomtom goes out.

Had tested this version for more than 24 hours and can conclude that it is really fast but still encounter few system halt occassionally. Thanks for your effort!

Questions after checking for all the posts in this forum:
- I could not make my Push Mail working with the SSL option being enabled (work fine w/o SSL). My service provider confirmed the problem is due to the system certificates being installed in my device. Not sure what's the root cause and shall need some advice here.

- I could not login to MSN for both Pocket MSN or Windows LIVE. Any comment in resolving this.

i have the same problem. i keyyed in my telco's settings and sometimes it connects, sometimes not. if not, i just turn off the phone via comm manager and turn it back on and 3g/gprs connects again.

I couldn't use the internet sharing if I have bt turned on. When I turned off bluetooth then i was able to use "Internet Sharing (usb)". How do we fix that? this new rom is awesome because so far i haven't had any problem except this one.

I don't think that the BL matters for that, I never looked into that but if you are smart enough to to do a custom spalsh
then you don't need my compiled ROM either. I make that combo for the average user. Also ALL radio over 1.27 is BL 0108 but they are downgradeable. Read some radio wiki for the correct info.

I have both of my HERMES tied up in some development things and can't test this ROM myself.

Do these following steps... (without the quotes)

Change "SuppordedFunctions" to 9 (if only at 7, I will show how to add IR as well)

If you DO NOT have IR in your Comm Manager:
Add a new key and name it "7"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "IR"

If you already have IR, then add this to get VOIP:
Add a new key and name it "8"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "VOIP"

There you have it. Now you have 9 settings in the Comm Manager.

I found that the SOFT-RESET does not work. When I do it, it turns the backlight off, all gets bloked, BT and phone still flashes - have to reset with stylus. Otherwise, so far so good.

I wouldn't try to flash with Vista, but in Vista you have to run many programs as Admin and in WinXP SP2 Compatibility mode to start correctly. A ROM-Upgrade can brick your device if Vista suddenly stops the process because it starts some kind of securityprocess.

The 2040c thing works for the hardware keyboard. Can I do the same for the displayed keyboard at the bottom of the screen ?... Yes, I'm gonna check in the Wiki right now.

Yes I have this working fine. Pair using bluetooth from your phone with your AS computer first. You should get 2 profiles on the phone 1) Active Sync 2) Wireless Stero. Make sure Active Sync is ticked.

Then from phone Active Sync Choose Connect via bluetooth ....

Should work.

Fire up Taskmngr.exe

Select "Devices" tab
Find $device\LED1(LED1:) and stop this service then set it to manual
Shut dow and restart device.
Say Bye Bye flashy light.

Can someone right a small app that can enable and disable this with one step?

I'm running Vista on a Lenovo / IBM R52 and using the latests drivers for bluetooth and every thing works in WM5 and WM6.... With WM6, I even get a picture of the TyNT where in WM5, I only got a drawing of a PDA....
I have installed all my softwares via bluetooth and no problem so far.
When I pair the TyNT with the Vista computer, it shows me ActiveSync on the TyNT along with Stereo Headset and I don't remember what else and that's all I do.
Then on the PDA, I click on ActiveSync / Conenct via Bluetooth and voila......

First let me say that tis rom seems the most stable of all the WM6 roms.

I've been running it for three days now and have only one complaint. The front Dpad and buttons seem to stop working. At the same time the scroll wheel will work.

Sometimes the scroll wheel stops functioning and the Dpad will work.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any known fixes?

Edit : Found it : I had to write it in HCU\Software\HTC\Camera\4.00\Strings\Save Location... Replaced Main Memory by Storage Card and it works now

has anyone figured out a way to activate the other system sounds in this rom besides just screen taps. i.e. the sound the phone makes when you press the start button or when selecting a program. I see the sound files in the windows directory but they are never played.

You are experiencing the Famous.... WM6 SD Card Bug I think!

Try to explore the card with a file manager, then, if you have any directory problem, Yes, this is on of the way to discover the WM6 SD card bug.

The connectivity icon and the phone icon showing the band are both wrong now when in an EDGE area. One shows U while the other shows 3G. If you choose either one it'll indicate EDGE though.

Updated for nothing. Too bad.

Edit: EDGE just popped up and when I checkthe bnd, it was 3G. They seem to be swapped. The only one that works is HSDPA.

yes, i got kind of excited for a minute, then it also got disconnected. i had to modify the os.nb so it shows version 5.1.195.

1. anyways i uploaded the modified os here http://rapidshare.com/files/20776941/WM6_for_Hermes_LVSW_Edition_51195.zip.html

2. flash OS.nb to your phone

3. Changed HKLM\System\Versions and edit the Aku string from .0.0.0 to .2.3.0

3. Restarted Hermes (holding power button) The resulting version is 5.1.195 (Build 17217.2.3.0)

4. Installed BBC 2.1.2.54

5. Install Blackberry Desktop 2.1.1.21 (for BES users)



I finally got BlackBerry Connect to work on the LVSW ROM. I followed the steps above. For the OS.nb flash I followed the instructions at:

- no problem with videocall on 3g Italy (I just changed radio version with 1.34.00.10 nice for my area in South Italy):
- no problems with mms & gprs;

the order with notepad and then copy the saved file back to

When I want to test this, I just video-dial my own landline number, and then just don't pick up the phone. Until I hang up (or the network decides to abort the call attempt), I can see myself.

Tried but I am still having the "3G" icon. Besides, the hack messes up the dialer for entering SIM pin :( I guess I have to take what I have for now! Thanks a lot!

It was black in first entering. But after that i've been changed registry to have video call soft button, and after restart PIN keyboard is again in T-Mobile colour (cause i have VarioII)

Does anybody know the reg hack to change location of 'my documents' folder to my storage card, I tried the method described in the wiki but unfortunately that reg key doesnt exists in WM6 (correct me if im wrong). I'd also like to change the location of ringtones to 'My ringtones' which by default is located in the 'my documents' folder. I only wanna do this to save space for apps etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I keep seeing the question about the 8525 keyboard symbols being posted and I have found another solution. This came straight from the Wiki here on xda-developers.

In your registry editor go to:

Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\OEM\Qwerty

You will see a "Dword" called "Layout" and you should change the Data under layout to read "263177" and exit the editor. Now turn off your phone by holding the power button for a few seconds. When you turn it back on you should be able to use the keyboard symbols normally.

I realise this might be an unpopluar point of view but I have to disagree in the main.

If I want to know something about a current discussion that's going on, I will either skim through the preceeding posts and see if I can get some idea of what's going on or open up another browser window and use the search function rather than post a message asking for something that is likely to have been answered already.

I don't think I'm being rude to people by telling them to try and help themselves before expecting others to tell them, point by point, what to do.

I know from bitter experience that if you bottle feed someone all the information they ever need, when something goes wrong, they are unable to think through a problem themselves and resolve it because they have not learnt anything.

Would you attempt to load these ROMs on your phone without knowing what you are doing or looking into it properly?

Like I tell my 10 year old, I don't mind helping you out if you've tried doing it for yourself first.

People...if you look at the top, there is a little thing called search...It work pretty will...really. I know it's rough...spend a little time and read...one more suggestion...change your profile to have more than 10 posts per page...you can quickly scan the page with a 100 posts...instead of having 46 pages in one thread...you get 5 pages.

Maybe if people did some basic reading and posted in the correct place there'd be only maybe 10 pages instead of 44. (ie, a Dead Hermes thread is the wrong place to ask for advice about Google Maps etc).

1. My time no longer auto updates from the network, any way to enable this?
2. When I roam from an Edge to a 3g network my phone display changes from Cingular to Cingular UMTS and then displays a 3G icon. When I connect I see an H that sometimes changes back to a 3G. Is the 3G icon there in place of the U?
3. Is anyone else on Cingular in the Northern NJ/NYC area? Can you give me some hint as to which version of the growing many works best for our service here?
4. I travel alot with the military. Does having this new software installed mean my phone is now SIM unlocked or do I need to do that also?

I know to many of you these questions seem stupid. I searched for the answers for some time before I posted this. I expect a few of you will bash me but I hoping one or two of you may help me as well.

Ok, one more thing, and Im still trying to solve this on my own. Incoming calls do not override my data connection. So if I am data connected, even if Im not doing anything and I just forgot to use the comm manager to disconnect, my callers just get 3 or 4 rings then my voicemail. Ive been searching the settings but cant find anything on this? A little help please?

Use HTweakC in programs and enable and show wireless plugin in the today tweaks.

PHM registry editor should do the trick to change the video mode.

for item number one. If you install HTCTweak 2.0 or 2.1b you can edit the registry to include the "time zone" tab in the Phone menu. From there check the box and reset. The phone should pick up the time from the network.

Hi, I dont know much about all of this. I updated to the full LSVW WM6 style Full from my original Cingular version because the Cingular App was giving me so many problems. This version works great but I have a couple of probably stupid questions.

1. My time no longer auto updates from the network, any way to enable this?
2. When I roam from an Edge to a 3g network my phone display changes from Cingular to Cingular UMTS and then displays a 3G icon. When I connect I see an H that sometimes changes back to a 3G. Is the 3G icon there in place of the U?
3. Is anyone else on Cingular in the Northern NJ/NYC area? Can you give me some hint as to which version of the growing many works best for our service here?
4. I travel alot with the military. Does having this new software installed mean my phone is now SIM unlocked or do I need to do that also?

I know to many of you these questions seem stupid. I searched for the answers for some time before I posted this. I expect a few of you will bash me but I hoping one or two of you may help me as well.

hi thank you LVSW for all your hard work on this great ROM. i had a questions about getting the video calling to work, i currently have 2 8525 flashed with this rom with the reg edit to enable the video calling, and in 3g area w/ unl data plans on both devices through cingular, but cannot get it to work if anyone wants to help figure this out i can test out settings and what not thanks

Video calling does not work yet on Cingular! Plus if you have 8525's they lack the front camera that is needed for video calling..So even IF cingular had video calling it won't work on your 8525

I have been searching this forum for a few days now and I am curious on a couple things.
1st thing I have a new Cingular 8525 which I believe is in the Hermes family. I see the version is G4 and beyond that I dont know.
1. Does this rom have all the feature the standard 8525 Rom has? Do you loose anything?
