I set up initiallly my outlook to be HTML format, but once it completes sync the format is on plaint text and on the settings gets switched back "plain text" and is gray out. Deleted the account, soft reset, do it again, and the same.....????

My pop email displays HTML format fine.

Has sombody notice this? and has a solution for it???

PS, I did not have this issue on WMXL 2.01 so I know it works fine on exch 2003 which is the Company's version.

Wisbar Lite Update is available now working with WM6, so Start isn't written besides the Startbuttun anymore and instead showing the tasks.
Installed Opera Mobile 8.60u2 on this ROM and changed the User Agent, and now its working like a dream.

This ROM is the BEST!

Right On! Wisbar Lite is one of my favorite 'lite' and a great task manager -- most useful battery indicator, cascading menus rock, and mapping wisbar lite to button 5 gives you 1 handed task manager -- thanks to Chris for responding to the WM6 community so quickly with the new WM6 specific release. And thanks to LVSW for putting together a very tight ROM.

Cheers

?????? HTML Email exists on Exchange 2007 not 2003. We use Exchange 2003 at my job and we have never had the ability to use HTML Email. It is an Exchange 2007 feature and I am trying to get my job to upgrade to 2007 so I can use it. I am loving the HTML Email feature on my Hotmail though.

Ok, one more thing, and Im still trying to solve this on my own. Incoming calls do not override my data connection. So if I am data connected, even if Im not doing anything and I just forgot to use the comm manager to disconnect, my callers just get 3 or 4 rings then my voicemail. Ive been searching the settings but cant find anything on this? A little help please?

Just a quick note on this. UMTS/3G specs support simultaneous talking and data transfer, while normal GSM/GPRS connections do not. Are you getting callers diverted to voicemail when having an active 3G data connection? (3G/U/H)

Overall great stuff - thanks to those that worked hard to get this together. It's certainly snappy and the inbox search and immediate attachment downloads are great. Looking forward to HTML mail when my mailbox moves to Exchange 2007.

Few issues:-

3) Default homepage for IE (with the drop down favorites and history) is cut off in the middle - maybe PIEPlus specific?

Yes, I searched before anyone flames :)

i also get the same problem. i love to set my homepage to "about:blank"

To clarify and not mislead: If your carrier has adequate 3G or 3.5G coverage, set your phone band to UMTS only and enjoy simultaneous data and voice services. It's sort of like DSL over your home telephone line...

For best stability, I prefer to set carrier "manually" to prevent auto-switching and to set the band specific to GSM 900+1800, UMTS 2100 and band to UMTS only.

Guys: I know it is annoying when some people post questions that were answered earlier in a given thread but it is really rude to respond in the manner some of you have. There are 44 pages of posts!!! It is actually pretty annoying to read through all 44 pages not knowing whether the answer to your question is even going to be in any of them and since this is a DISCUSSION board (not just an FAQ section) why not be kind enough to just answer the simple questions? Most of us have not contributed much here in comparison to those offering entire ROMs that we are all using FOR FREE so calm down and help someone else out a little bit. Maybe it will come back around to you at some point and you will appreciate it.

The entire reason threads get so out of control and so many pages is exactly why people get upset. Asking questions in the wrong places, asking the same question multiple times makes the search engine more and more useless, and those that are actually trying to help themselves can't do it easily. You have a $400 or more device in your hands, use your head to protect your investment. If you don't understand what you are reading then ask in the appropriate place, and people will be more than willing to help out. It is very frustrating to want to get the details and issues on a ROM and having to sift through 300 posts of how do I .....? when there are only 2 or 3 DIFFERENT issues. And if everyone just followed simple rules the threads would be 20 pages instead of 60.

Hey all. I am amazed by the pace of development going on here! After reading threads for far longer than I should and totally neglecting work, I am still unsure on how to proceed and completely ready to eat flame for asking...
I'm about to flash my Herm, and I'd just like to confirm if I got things right.
1. I want upgrade to LVSW's OS only of the 13th of March, I understand it may be slightly more stable than the one released yesterday?
2. Separately upgrade to the 1.38.00.10 radio ROM,
And I understand if I use the 20070313_HermesWM6_LVSW_edition_WM6Style.exe I don't need to install the Hard SPL first? Or do I? It contains the Oli 1.10? See how confused I am?
Everybody says to read everything, but it's hard to sift the chaff from the wheat if you know what I mean...
Any advice is greatly appreciated. If the advisor is anywhere near Warsaw I'd be happy to buy them a big drink.
My hat goes off to LVSW, Kyphur and all other Galactic Overlords.
(I have an HTC TyTN w. 1.18.255.3, radio 1.03.03.10 so you can see why I need this upgrade :) )

Out of curiosity did you happen to setup your exchange server BEFORE you setup your GPrs SERVER?

If so then delete the exchange server and then re add it.

Hi the LVSW's OS only of the 13th of March works without any problems on my device, even running Resco Explorer without probs.
I have Radio-ROM 1.34.00.10 installed and no problems ever. The 1.38.00.10 is new, so nobody can say if the battery standby is good.
You need Radio 1.27up for this WM-ROM, so best is you install the wpbear-Package, which includes all you need. SSPL will be put on your device when updating, you'll see asking your device installing ENTER-BL.exe.
But if you install Hard-SPL 1.10 OLI you do good, because its very much safer than your current Hard-BL. It's only running 2 exe files with Active-Sync connection.
First the Hard-spl-Update.exe and then the WM-Update.exe of your choice. The wp-bear package has Hard-SPL/Radio1.34/WM in one ROM, so only 1x clicking .exe

Yes I thought the same was very wierd. I downloaded and nbhextracted it and it does have the radio, ext rom etc...

So it is the full ROM. I would like to run it just to see what is in the extrom.

Hmmm... I could swear lvsw had written that the "complete" ROM didn't include EXTROM. That's kind of contradictory, but that's what I recall.

mine is okay without any problem. btw, I can't activesync with usb instead. the program is just looking for the device but doesn't sync actually, i doubt it's my system's wrong, not caused by the phone

Are you using Activesync 4.5? If not, try it.

for item number one. If you install HTCTweak 2.0 or 2.1b you can edit the registry to include the "time zone" tab in the Phone menu. From there check the box and reset. The phone should pick up the time from the network.

number 2 I believe the 3G represents an area that supports UMTS and/or HSDPA. When you actually connect to the network in a data session the icon will change to a U or an H depending on what protocol you've actually connected at.

@sgtb73

Number 4, no, you still need to SIM unlock. You can either ask Cingular for your subsidy code, and they may or may not give it to you, depending on your length of time with them, what day it is, and what mood they are in. :(

Or you can SIM and CID unlock by looking for POF's free unlocker v.3 in the stickies of the Hermes Upgrade section of the forum. I have not used it, so I don't know if you can just SIM unlock with that app, but I get the impression that you cannot.

Be aware that CID unlocking (going SuperCID) probably voids your warranty and once you go SuperCID, you can't go back.

Ben

EDIT: Good news! POF's unlocker lets you unlock SIM and/or CID as you wish! I just reread his first post.

I have a Cingular 8525. I looked through the forum and I have done a search but either missed it or its not there. Can someone please tell me how can fix this. I may be searching the wrong thing. One more thing I can no longer connect to Cingular 3g nor the gprs. I think it must be a setting issue. I would appreciate any help in this matter. And BTW thanks to the creater of this awesome rom. Just a quick note on this. UMTS/3G specs support simultaneous talking and data transfer, while normal GSM/GPRS connections do not. Are you getting callers diverted to voicemail when having an active 3G data connection? (3G/U/H)

The problem was me, when I put cingulars settings in for MY ISP I used the wrong access point (the one for tethering). As soon as I changed it over to the proper MY ISP settings it worked properly. For anyone else doing this with cingular their site can be confusing. There are three seperate internet settings, one for tethering, one for PDA unlimited access and one for WAP proxy browsing. The PDA and Wap one both use WAP.CINGULAR as their access point but the settings differ greatly from there. The tethering one uses ISP.CINGULAR as its access point. This will work fine for your web browsing but will not allow you to see any incoming calls.

okay i have some bad news. i'm still having this wake up issue on this rom as well. when the phone has been in stanby for a long period of time...maybe an hour or so, it does not turn back on. the only way to get the phone back on is to soft reset. i had this problem on xda live .10 and .20. now im having it on this rom :(.

i must say, this rom is much fast and more stable than xda how ever. good job.

This is not correct. My 8525 uses ISP.Cingular, and I receive calls while having an active data connection. If you are in an EDGE-only area, you cannot have simultaneous voice/data, but in UMTS/HSDPA areas you can have both at the same time :)

I'm tethering right now, and was able to continue the data connection while talking to my wife on the phone, so I know it works correctly (I'm in a 3G area).

I have not noticed this issue with the xda live roms nor the LVSW Edition (2007-0315) Are you having a HARDWARE issue maybe?

I have two minor issues:

1. I can ONLY turn ON wifi from the TOP BAR and not turn it OFF? When wifi is on it only offers me to turn ON wifi when it should say TURN OFF.

2. When I added the registry hack for the enabling of video calling I was not able to connect via activesync. I removed the hack then all was fine? I was able to solve this by going to settings >>>> connections >>>> USB to PC and remove the check mark for Enable advanced networking functionality. After I did this I can connect to my pc via activesync again.

Any ideas on the wifi issue?

Yes, this happens to me too! On Cingular with 8525, LVSW Edition (2007-03-15) and Radio 1.34. Also tried LVSW Edition (2007-03-13) and had same results.

The FIX I found is to use HTweakC 2.1b and 'Set Connection AlwaysOn'

It works, but would be nice if we didn't have to resort to this.

I have read about the Wifi issues but have never seen this discussed in the forums. When I turn on my Wifi and use PIE it stalls and finally loads after about 5 or 10 minutes. I recently installed Opera 8.62 then connected to Wifi and it seems to work flawlessly.

I wonder if the probelm is PIE??

I had the same issue and had to hard reset my device (Cingular 8525) twice, seems lik you haveto follow certain steos in a particular order. I made it work and later found this thread in the XDA Live thrad, which pretty much follows the same steps I followed, hope it works for you.

Quoting Slytony:

"Don't know if this will help. Had the same issue, and could only resolve by performing the following steps (in order):

1. Clear device data (hard reset, start from scratch).
2. Bypass any ExtRom autoconfig (if you're set up this way) and manually set up carrier GPRS/3G settings FIRST (skip activesync setup). Soft-reset.
3. Once restarted, set AutoAttach GPRS in HTweakC, then save and shut down with power button (not soft-reset)
4. Restart, then set correct date/time before configuring Exchange server in Activesync.
5. Proceed to load other apps, etc.

Something with the clean setup with power-down seems to do the trick. I don't know what exactly caused the error, but I was finally able to get everything rolling fine using the above steps."

Can somebody explain something about the ExtRom? Why isn’t in version 15-03-2007 and what does it do?

In a nutshell: ExtROM is the thingy that gives you all your operator customisations.

I have found an interesting problem with the ROM (using the 3/13 version). When I am typing quickly in the messaging application I find that MANY of my key presses are simply skipped. I read through a message I have typed and I find that there are letters, spaces, and symbols missing even though I am absolutely certain that I have NOT missed a key with my fingers.

I do not have this problem if I type this quickly in Word, the Calendar, or anywhere else that I have noticed. It is limited to the messaging application. Is there a way to get rid of this problem? I might consider downgrading to WM5 again because messaging is the most important use I have for this phone.

Another serious issue I found. But its maybe WM6 related.

I cant find any way to take a second call while having one already. Anyone a solution for this?

Thank you sooo much. This seems to have worked. Appreciate your help. Do you know how to get the time to automatically synchronize with Cingular?

I had the same issue and had to hard reset my device (Cingular 8525) twice, seems lik you haveto follow certain steos in a particular order. I made it work and later found this thread in the XDA Live thrad, which pretty much follows the same steps I followed, hope it works for you.

I second that... I thought it was me at first being in a hurry... it seems it only sometimes starts off bad, just like its busy doing some other process rather than displaying each key that I'm pressing!

It started hang again and again today after i have installed CE-Star Suite. Any solutions for this yet LVSW?

FYI, CE-Star for me to read and input chinese character.

one more problem is call history won't show the last person u call but didnt answer ya call one. it only shows the one who actually answer your call. any one got the same problem?

I have to go back to contact to call out the same person if he didnt answer my call .... ? bug?

Are you sure you have your settings right? With the Orange Rom, these would have been pre-installed. If you haven't reentered them manually, then Internet & Wap will certainly NOT work. Don't know about Orange UK, but most operators have their GPRS settings available on their web sites.

In HTweakC, enable the "Show Time Zone Tab" (or something like that) and then you'll be able to select the auto-update from network function in the device clock settings.

Also, regarding the Activesync issue, did you use wpbear's (sp?) Cingular cab file? I believe there is some user/server info missing from part of the config when you install it. I don't have my device in front of me, so I can't recall what exactly was missing. I do know that the other 8525 I tested on also used the cab and had the same push issue. That may be why the manual config works after hard-reset (something "sticks" after using the cab). Only a theory, but I'm running stable and don't have a test unit to verify right now.

I spent the last two days studying everything posted and I have read every post in this thread and now I'm ready to install 20070315_HermWM6_WinMobPro_OSonly ... I run SSPL on my 8525 and I get the proper .ds extension ... I then connect my USB cable and ActiveSync says that it cannot connect to my device. (The bootloader does show that I am connected USB)

Do I need ActiveSync to connect in order to run 20070315_HermWM6_WinMobPro_OSonly.exe?

Edit: Activesync 4.5 says it does not recognize my device but the Update utility says to let ActiveSync connect. My laptop recognized my device when I connected by USB but ActiveSync did not connect...

Am I supposed to do something to make ActiveSync recognize my device?

aquanaut88
18th March 2007, 02:04 AM
bkbroil,
must use AS4.5, check 'allow usb connections'. I always delete the partnership by not the synced 'my docoments' folder. (I always rename device with same name after flashing device or hard reset, then sync docs.)

soft reset device, then connect -- AS would normally recognize the device and ask if you want to set up a new partnership, select cancel to establish a guest partnership.

now, execute the upgrade -- SSPL loads (for description see the readme.txt enclosed with the cooked ROM).

After finished loading device will reset. I chose not to let the external rom run but instead chose only those that I need. Add tweaks and bug fixes, rename device, connect to AS and setup partnership, reload programs and sync data.

cheers

has anyone figured out a way to activate the other system sounds in this rom besides just screen taps. i.e. the sound the phone makes when you press the start button or when selecting a program. I see the sound files in the windows directory but they are never played.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also is anyone having issues with mms, my cingular 8525 wont let me configure my mms server settings for cingular. It lets me type in the info but it dosn't do anything when I press ok.
Dear all.

I have a similar question of noticing most system sound (like open start menu, choosing programs) missing. Any way that I can re-enable those sounds?

In addition, I notice many notification type are missing... eg. text message sent, I used to have an icon appeared when it's sent... but it's no longer appear now. Does anyone know if there is anyway to re-enable all notification.. I am running a Softbank with dopod asia rom before, but now is in lvsw.

I am pretty happy with this rom upgrade so far. A few minor issues but those are prob OS related..

>Occassionally as mentioned earlier the backlighting on my keyboard does not work. Still trying to isolate that occurence.

>On a soft reboot sometimes the system just hangs with the White HTC screen.

>When I power off the device and power it back on the Phone transmitter does not power back on. I have to go into the Comm Manager and turn it on. I think that has been mentioned before I have to re-search that and find the fix.

All in all very happy with this update. The colors and screens are way cool...

Correct, there is a handful of goodies installed from the O/S itself after the reset but as far as your ExtROM goes what you have in there currently have will remain as is, but no longer be auto-installed.
also all of my network settings are kept (i.e. gprs and what not) or should i search for these in the forum before upgrading...
I believe you're thinking of a Radio flash here. Any O/S flash results in a hard reset and with the WM6 ROMs you're on your own to set up connections, etc. (although there are a couple cabs floating about-- but only for Cingular/AT&T/US, I believe).

i am itching to get my hands (device) on this!!!
It's good stuff-- I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I can confirm that I can't be online and making a call at the same time with this ROM, but I'm not in a 3G area. I believe if you are in edge, you can't have both going at once, if you are in 3G or better you can. I'll try tomorrow at work (3G area) and make sure this is the case.

I can confirm that I can't be online and making a call at the same time with this ROM, but I'm not in a 3G area. I believe if you are in edge, you can't have both going at once, if you are in 3G or better you can. I'll try tomorrow at work (3G area) and make sure this is the case.

Has anyone gotten automatic pickup to work?
(Start --> Settings (Personal Tab) --> Phone (More Tab) Automatic pickup. Checked for 2 rings. Called the phone, never picks up...

I am not in an edge area.

It worked before the upgrade.

I got the same problem as my x01ht (LVSW edition with ce-star)freezed all the time, sometimes once it received sms, it hanged, and the new sms disappeared after soft reset........

I flashed my phone back to wm5.

- calls could not be accepted while device connected to PC via ActivesyncWorks fine for me. Did you upgrade to ActiveSync 4.5? (although I didn't think anything less would work with WM6...)

I can no longer be online or syncing my Exchange via MSDP when I am on the phone. If I am syncing and I use the phone it disconnects my data.I can do both simultaneously while in 3G... dunno about G/E.

How do I run the .rar file?Uhh.. you don't run the .rar (hint: it's a compressed file).

May I kindly suggest you do a bit more reading (particulary regarding SPL and Radio BL versions) before you go much further. A botched radio flash is a free ticket to bricking your device, and with no safety net(s) in place you'll really be screwed.

Proceed cautiously.

mine is okay without any problem. btw, I can't activesync with usb instead. the program is just looking for the device but doesn't sync actually, i doubt it's my system's wrong, not caused by the phone

Doesn't work for me either. When I set up a partnership with my notebook I can't see the ActiveSync service anymore, only serial port/dialup/hands free. This used to work fine with the original WM5. I use ActiveSync over Bluetooth a lot, because I don't want to charge the TyTN's battery all the time.

1- when d/l large files (20 MB plus) from internet the system crashes, did not have this prob on wm5, have to soft reset.
2- probs with wi-fi. seems to connect but will not load any pages.

any solutions.

You must use the handwriting input...glad to hear it works for you. Unfortunately, it doesn't support the TyTN's built-in keyboard. MactionTech said they had no plans to support the keyboard, so it I had to switch to Mobem's CE-Star. Fonts look better in Monster and the interface isn't as polished as Monster's, but at least the keyboard input (pinyin and zhuyin) work. Predictive text is also very good on CE-Star.

AS4.5 over BT works fine here with microsoft BT stack on my notebook computer. After upgrading from WM5 to WM6 I had problems. So I deleted the partnership on both devices and removed the COM port from the notebook's BT interface.

You do not need to create any ports on your WM6 device.

Turn on BT discovery on your PC. Create Incoming COM Port 6. Create partnership with WM6 device and when you look for services activesync will appear. On PC, check allow connections to one of the following and select COM 6. Reboot PC. Power cycle the WM6 device to make settings stick. Should now work for you.

I do have DirectPush working but ActiveSync is returning with an error also..I've tried all the different suggestions but it still returns an error.. If anyone figures this out...I would be much obliged.

Just found the fix to get ActiveSync working...

1. Delete the Server Source
2. Go into connections and delete the Proxy from MediaNet (or whatever connection you are using)
3. Soft reset device
4. Check to make sure that your connection is not using a proxy.
5. Connect to ActiveSync and add server source

It should now sync with your exchange server.

(I consider this a work around because I should be able to activesync while using the wireless.cingular.com proxy setting... but at least I have it synching fine now)

If MSDP is already configured and working fine you can skip steps 1 and 3, or just change to "My ISP" for your GPRS connection. If you really want to use Cingular's Media Net or CV (which requires their proxy), switch back to "Media Net" for GPRS.

I've been trying out the rom for some time now and this is the only thing that is still driving me up the wall. Currently the only way I can get internet on my device (i do not setup my GPRS intentionally so that I can't be charged 1 pence per kilobyte) is via the activesync connection. Well, this use to work in WM5 but appears dead in WM6. I know someone said something about this and I just wished I had payed more attention when I saw it. I disable the 'advanced usb mode' in the connections tab and this only kills the extra connection i get in connection manager on my computer, so still no joy there.

As I said, I know I have seen something about this but serious searching has not returned anything. Anyone else experienced this or found a solution for it?

I just spent an hour on the phone with Cingular on this today.

settings are:

access point: isp.cingular
login: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: CINGULAR1

Set it up under "MY ISP" and then use that for "programs that connect automatically"...

as for the media net settings there's a cab file for that that worked very well.
for the media net the settings are:
access point: wap.cingular
login: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: CINGULAR1

I had originally set the "My ISP" up pointed t the wap.cingular access point which did not allow for multiple data feeds, ie: surfing and taking on the phone, or active sync connected.

As soon as I changed settings to the isp.cingular it worked fine.

I flashed last night and upgraded radio this morning...now it is working MUCH better.

This does work... but you must turn your phone off afterwards... power off/on NOT the reset!

yeah R3 is better then R2 ... must try. R2 hang many times. R3 much stable.

Before R3, my backlight timeout would always reset to 10seconds after a soft-reset. After installing R3, the timeout stays put at 2-minutes where I like it.

I am new here :) and updated LVSW 15/3 version last night.
Just wanted to ask if anyone could successfully login MSN with wifi connection?
I tried many times in different AP but failed.
Prompt a msg "There's a connectivity problem, Make sure you're in an area with good phone reception and try again"

Isn't it different from WM5?

Thanks for any solutions, brothers ?

... several times per day. It looks of this only happens when the phone is on, not when the phone is in flight mode. I installed several programs, but already uninstalled SPB Pocket Plus and SPB Time. I need to soft reset to wake up the phone again

Who is facing the same issues and are there any solutions? Thanx in advance

Maybe a next update will fix the freesing/wake up problems.

For the rest i must say that wm6 is absolutely signifcant faster than the old i-Mate wm5 rom.

What radio ROM do you have ?
I'm having these freezes problems only when it's on standby for more than 4 hours.... (see my signature for my radio version)

I have had this issue several times, but they were all related to installed software (I use radio ROM 1.35.11).
I initially had to install Resco explorer, which stopped the hangs. Yesterday I installed xpressmail and they started again...

For better color matching WM6 Dialpads click here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295951&page=2&highlight=dialpad).

Especially the WM6_Blue from BBowermaster (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=34929&d=1172979733) seems to match best with the standard Taskbars.

@LVSW:

Can you insert the WM6_Blue Skin (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=34929&d=1172979733) into a ROM-Update.
The zip contains the new bitmaps and png, so only copy in Windowsdirectory and the Blue Dialpad (VIDEOBUTTON supported) is ready.

I had installed those skins. I cannot get the video skin to activate even though I added Enable = 1 to the registry as indicated below (there was no entry for Enabled under Skin so I added it).

Where did you get this exe from? Is it corrupt? I got a zip file called "Hard-SPL.zip" in that file there was an exe called, "ROMUpgradeUt.exe". I ran that and it installed 1.10 oli. Is that what you are attempting to do?

I'm also using Resco Explorer from the 1st day but I don't use xpressmail.
I'm guessing the freezes come from a memory leak as it continue to show me the right time when I try to wake it up. The display is just awfully slow and I cannot click on any icon.
I'm gonna try de-activating the radio stack tonight and see if it freezes tomorrow morning.

Run this from the Phone, not Windows. Copy it to your card and run it from the file manager.

I installed the Pro Mobile 6 version on my 8525 cingular. Everything worked fine at first. I set up Bluetooth with uconnect in both of my vehicles and on my Oakley Razer Bluetooth. All worked fine until 2 says ago. I have paired my Oakly's again and again with my 8525 but although it will pair, it will not communicate??? Bluetooth works fine in both the cars uconnect:cool:

Is this Des's SSPL? If so, you should be running it (the .exe not the .zip) from your device!

My laptop does not find the Network Access Service on my 8525 therefore I cannot connect over bluetooth and get an internet connection.
