we are not complaning....but we see it just a wast of time....every ROM after Helmi v1.1 was just a pain in the ass....just someone tell me what is the difference....i will tell you....just more bugs....more posts asking for solving these bugs...this what i call it wast of time....if the new ROM added a Video call option for example...i will be the first one to thank the one who did it....but i can not see any thing new....so why we wast our time while we have a good running ROM ( Helmi v1.1 )...this is my openion

To answer your call log question, please make sure you don't have a filter enabled. (i.e. only outgoing calls)

Also the sync error, are you talking about Windows LIVE? If it is Windows LIVE and not MSN, then please read the error details (click the error info tab) and post it, so I can have a look...

great work jwrigtsmcp.... your'e a pro bro...

after testing this rom for couple of hours now... i find it very stable and speedy. how every the slight memory leaks are still felt. The phone pad and smart dialer is very efficient and smooth.

i have felt something as if it has a little problem in the call history log. i am after a while it stops storing the incoming or missed call status. maybe i'm the only one to have this problem ..... have others come across something like this....

further the problem of msn not getting signed in persists from the day one... it fails at 5th point with a messege unable to synchronize... the service is temporarily unavailable.... :(

on the whole ...... the ROM is amazing.......

First bug I noticed. When I go to Start>Settings>System>Regional Settings>Date, if I change the Short Date to a different one, the change does not stick after a soft reset. Not a big problem, All I have to do is go directly to the registry settings and change it there using a registry editor.

I'm not sure if I could contribute with something here. I placed a comment at Jwrightmcps' 2.01.06 thread about my i-Tech R35 and other BT headsets in general. It is located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1150961&postcount=623.
I'd like to say that perhaps you could perfom some tricks to make the other headsets on your test, which didn't worked properly at first, play music through A2DP just fine.My maingoal of the post was to file a bugrepport in the hope it can be fixed in the following release. The Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 was working perfect (probably used for the test of this stack) and others need a trick or tweak to work.

I'd like to comment my observations on the MS BT implementation as well. I think when A2DP is started, all sounds generated by the device are simply routed to it. That's why you hear reminders on your stereo BT headset.I think this simple, quick and dirty way is not the best way to handle this. Other manufacturers like Nokia and Sony Ericsson are more progressed in this.

Finally, I suppose you were unable to start A2DP from the headset buttons due to a battery power saving strategy. A2DP is a very heavy protocol.Don't you mean AVRCP? I think if you choose for this strategy as developer, you're missing the point of AVRCP. I realy hope this will be fixed!

The other data hungry wireless protocol is WiFi. That's why you probably experience freezes on the Universal when you try to run them both at the same time (e.g. for VOIP applications).I didn't had WiFi on at the moment of test. But I think this should fine work because on my P3600 Trinity I can be connected trough WiFi with a streaming radio or tv station while I listen to the audio by my A2DP headset.

When there is no audio to be played, A2DP is diconnected. At the moment you press the play button in WMP, A2DP is immediately reconnected again.I think it is not disconnected but it is placed in a sort of parking mode. If it was disconnected the Parrot MK6000 un-muted the radio. Instead of this, it keeps it muted.

I also use A2DP en AVRCP with this ROM but have no problems at all. My headset is a Jabra BT620s. Here's how i make it work (every single time)

It's not a solution as far as software goes, but it may do the trick:

Pair the headset with the Universal and turn all bluetooth OFF (both headset and Uni)

1. Turn bluetooth ON on Universal.
2. Wait for it to fully start and go to CommManager >> Settings >> Bluetooth settings. Just let it sit there on the devices tab.
3. Turn headset ON.
4. Wait a second or two to make sure its ready to recieve.
5. On universal go to the Devices tab, and select the Headset and select 'Set as wireless stereo'. A little sound notification will play and an icon appears in the top bar showing that the headset connected.
6. Start Windows media player and play a song

This sequence is the only thing that works for me. If I do it any other way it skips and stutters or wont play at all :S

On my 3rd day with J's fantastic ROM I second everything you've stated, specially about disabling MS Voice Command. After I have disabled it, no more freezes of any kind! I've loaded Cyberon Voice Speed Dial instead, and it works flawlessly.

I have looked into the reports of the OS locking-up during reboots and have found something that may explain it...

When I reboot the device and wait until the system is fully loaded (i.e. after today screen loads and adjusts itself), everything is great.

However if I reboot the device and start trying to click on things the second the today screen displays (before it has a chance to adjust), it will lock-up!

Can the users that reported the issue please try rebooting using both methods a few times and let me know the results?

Basically it appears the system needs 2-3 seconds after the today screen appears before the system is really ready for use... I will try to correct this if I can but need more solid info...

Sorry, I noticed this but thought it was common knowledge. :eek:

It also appears that it is less likely to lockup if the XDA is not connected to the PC on reset (or so it appears to me).

Eh...I didn't have a problem before, but the second method doesn't really cause any lockup for me, only locked up once out of about 7 tries to do it.

Edit: Make that two...the last reboot locked up without me doing anything.

This sounds like a different issue than what was reported, I will contact you via pm for more details... Maybe you have a bad download and should try downloading it again.

I have checked this and the text size seems fine to me, also you can change the system text size by going to Start>Settings>Screen and select the "Text Size" tab and adjust the slider to fit your needs.

I understood the concept the moment i loaded the new rom. I agree one has to wait for the today screen to initialise as it has wifi and phone to complete its searching. If one starts clicking before it will hang. So far not a single freeze or hangs. I loaded Oxios Hibernate and it takes care of all memory. Tks Jwright for a fantastic rom. Almost same to yours aku last. Very stable indeed.:)

u cannot install it on other rom, becouse helmi already put all files needed for speed dial to rom, and cab file makes only necessary registry changes and shortcuts.

Jwright, would like to concur with the boot up freeze problem if clicking before fully booted, and especially if linked to PC when booting.

Done some good testing with this ROM, lots of data testing and it's really flying. I did have an initial issue with originally configuring Live mobile, but think that it may be due to low signal level. Had 1 bar when I configured it and it seemed to freeze when downloading contacts. On reset it started working fine though.

Again, I don't really have that much running, but no freezes when boot is left alone, excellent space and speed as always. Very happy indeed, but then, I didn't expect too much less.

This happens to me when I made a backup using SPB Backup which forces a soft reset after making the backup. The device reboots and freezes at the Qtek splash screen. A soft reset DOESN'T help. It will reboot, but doesn't go any further than the Qtek splash.
Only by removing the battery the Qtek will "move on" while booting....

I don't like Oxios Close Apps because from my testing on other WM6 ROMs, it causes WMP to stutter every 5 seconds. That is why I extracted only Oxios Hibernate before placing it on the windows folder.

Unticking Task Manager is fine, but on mine I always left it ON, because I prefer to close my apps if I am using it on portrait mode.

USE THIS VERY OLD VERSION OF OXIOS HIBERNATE IF YOU DON'T WANT THE WINDOW TO APPEAR STATING HOW MUCH MEMORY YOU GOT BACK, SAVES YOU TIME FROM CLICKING THE OK BUTTON, IT JUST RECOVERS THE MEMORY IMMEDIATELY. JUST COPY THIS FILE TO WINDOWS FOLDER, SOFT RESET, AND CREATE AN ICON ON WINDOWS>START MENU>PROGRAMS. THEN JUST ASSIGN IT ON ONE OF THE HARD BUTTONS FOR EASY ACCESS.

Many thanks Jwrightmcps for all your hard work, as a JasJar owner all seems to work fine, I have no lock-ups, so I guess I should just count myself lucky and offer sympathies to those that suffer from it. Please let me give you my observations in the hope that we all work together to reach a common goal.

Bluetooth Stereo: There are some issues here with stuttering and loss of sound. For my 2 cents worth, I think this is related to RANGE. I own a set of Oakley Rokrs and they worked great with my WM5 ROM, the range being at least 25 feet, and they work great on my WM5 Smartphone (Qtek 8500).
However I notice that I get very clear sound without stutters if I put my JasJar within 20 inches of the bluetooth set, but as soon as I move it further away it starts to stutter as if slipping out of Range. I agree with others that there may be some power-saving feature which is affecting the range of the stereo bluetooth. Can others try their bluetooth stereo sets and report findings regarding range - please note this is specific to "STEREO BLUETOOTH" and not just bluetooth headsets. (Please note that all my experiments have been done with WiFi off and even tried turning the Radio Off to see if there was a power boost - not so)

Second observation relates to Task Manager and closing tasks. I generally tend to steer away from third part apps as much as possible so as not to clutter up my JasJar (maybe this is why peoples experiences of lockups are so different!!) and do appreciate the addition of the Task Manager Close application, however it does not seem to allow for exceptions. The only exception that I would prefer to have is of course the "tmail.exe" which handles the Email, it always takes so long to load if constantly shut down, so would be nice to have it resident in memory at all times.(essential I think)

Third observation which really is tiny, the sound icon on top, I may be going mad but I'm sure that in WM5 when all volume sliders where turned down to zero, the mute icon would show (I know when you actually click on the Off button, the mute icon does appears with the X). This may be something which WM6 has changed, but am I bovverred, NOT!

Keep up the great work and let me know all your Bluetooth Stereo findings

I don't have a tool to create a CAB file, sorry. But I did post a better version of OXIOS HIBERNATE for everyone to cherish.

It is a better version because you don't have the popup window showing how much memory you restored. It just automatically does it. Have fun my friend.

Just highlight the app you want to create an icon and press menu, copy the file, now go the the folder you wish to create an icon and press menu again, if you go to edit, there is an option there for you to create a shortcut icon, you can rename it to any name you want.

I just upgraded to the 2.02.00 ROM last night but still have the occassional lockups. I need to do a soft reboot to get the phone to respond. I believe when it locks up, the radio is still running since I see the blinking Green LED for the GSM. I have to switch off the POWER MANAGEMENT option of "Turn off in x min in not used" for battery power to be able to use the device for calls. The only level of battery saving I am stuck with now is the Backlight auto-off and the beam settings.

Is this something others are having as well or are any applications the culprit?

Once again because i didnt get an reaction/solution...

When reading a email-message longer that 29KB i cabnnot select any links/text beyond the 29KB limit. The only way is to use "Select All" from the menu.

It was the same behaviour with Helmis WM6.

Thats especially bad when i want to select a link in the email to open up a webpage...

Dear Jwrightmcps,

I can really see some of the improvements in this new build. But phone app is not that responsive. For instance, someone called me and I pressed the answer button from the phone bubble but ring continous and I'm pressing the (HW) green button and it's same, nothing happens. Sometimes green button works but tooks so much time to take the button action.
Is the same problem happens to everyone? :confused:

For you information, the phone app was bit slow but I didn't have this non-responsive problem on earlier build.

1: It is not a CAB file. Just unzip the file from your computer. Copy and paste the file to your SD Card. Using File Explorer, transfer the Hibernate file to the Windows Folder, then soft reset. Create an icon on Windows>Start Menu>Programs folder.

2: Are you trying to create an icon on the Settings folder? If YES, then I can't help you with that. I was referring to creating an icon in the Programs folder. You need a special app for this purpose because it is a Control Panel Extension.

My friend Aniel1 thanks for letting me know about the last 2 updates.As i have stated previously i knew JW would keep coming with the best.In order to be the best you have to provide the best.After flashing the last version i did however brick my jasjar(But i knew that i had made my own error by trying to use one of my usb hubs----thats what bricked me!)
The current rom is a monster and this new one i will update to here shortly.FYI --anyone needing an JASJAR rom released by the developers here on the site.I have allways downloaded every last rom on the site to a 5 Terabyte External HDD.So if you cannot find yours let me know and ill be glad to "Put it somewhere" for you to get to.

Yes, the device will just overwrite whatever is already there with any version; it's not like (say) a PSP whereby you have a certain path you must follow to 'hack' the firmware.

I have extracted this from PDAViet's ROM, but it is exactly the same. I have not tried it yet since I personally use Handy Menu, and it has its own Running Application file.

It only seems that nothing happens, but if you have a memory indicator on the today screen, you will notice it increasing after clicking HIBERNATE. This is the beauty of this version, as opposed to the NEW version where there is a popup window showing you how much memory you got back. This version saves you time on ticking the popup window to close it.

Bluetooth Stereo: There are some issues here with stuttering and loss of sound. For my 2 cents worth, I think this is related to RANGE. I own a set of Oakley Rokrs and they worked great with my WM5 ROM, the range being at least 25 feet, and they work great on my WM5 Smartphone (Qtek 8500).
However I notice that I get very clear sound without stutters if I put my JasJar within 20 inches of the bluetooth set, but as soon as I move it further away it starts to stutter as if slipping out of Range. I agree with others that there may be some power-saving feature which is affecting the range of the stereo bluetooth. Can others try their bluetooth stereo sets and report findings regarding range - please note this is specific to "STEREO BLUETOOTH" and not just bluetooth headsets. (Please note that all my experiments have been done with WiFi off and even tried turning the Radio Off to see if there was a power boost - not so)I have tested the A2DP range with two headsets (WiFI off):
- Motorola S9: 2,5 meter (=6,5 ft)
- Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970: 5 meter (=13 ft)

Please, forgive me if I sound like lessoning a teacher. It's simply that I have already passed through it. You could copy the whole folder "40C5" you will find at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys to 40C4 (I've done it through Total Commander). Then open folder "40C4" and change key "Name" (to e.g. "Speech (Press & Hold)" ). The new button will immediately show on Start > Settings > Personal > Buttons to any application you want.

The ChangeLog included with the Jwright 2.0.2.00 mentions "improved power management".

I would like to know on what level these changes have been made or how this has been achieved - I am asking because I used to have the previous 2.01.08 version installed and then, before flashing the 02.00 version I backed all data and settings up with SpbBackup and after flashing the newest OS ROM version I restored all backuped data back to my Exec.

Now I am a bit afraid that if the changes in the power management scheme are done all or partly in the registry, the backup might have restored the previous registry setting and overwrite the newer a better registry settings by which the improvements achieved in the newer ROM are lost.

Any clue to this?

I'm still having dramas with this new version :( crashes when I activate wifi, not immediatly but after about 5-10 seconds. My battery showed about 65% charged.

This is a fresh install from a fresh download...I redownloaded and installed again because I was having this problem after the firt time I installed it.

It also crashed while I was just entering in some connection details.

And then it wont reboot again....it crashes at splash screen. I have to plug it into external power to get it to boot up. Also if it crashed while trying to make wifi connection, on the reboot it while start with wifi activated.


Any ideas?

Thanks, but it is not as simple as copying a folder, because the button functions on JWright's ROM is all for the quick PRESS function. So if I just copy a folder, I would just simply duplicating a function that already exist. If you would be so kind as to copy all the necessary input files on 40C4 and 40C5, that would be great. Because there is more to it than just renaming the file name. Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a simple sollution (without having to go to the registry) to change this to 256 each time I want to play a movie.
And back to 64 when finished viewing.

It has been mentioned somewhere in the forum some time ago, but I don't remember exactly where I have seen it.

After checking the registry, it seems to me that it requires the change in the following setting of BlockTransferSize from DWORD Data 64 to DWORD Data 256:
HKLM\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\MMC_Class\ SDMemory_Class, perhaps also in the ... \MMC_Class

But perhaps someone knows better, I am a newbie here.

Today I ran into a radio issue. I travel though a long tunnel (under water) twice a day. This makes me lose the signal and what-not. Pretty much all the issues from the .06 rom i had are fixed in this one.

Still one thing happend today. This morning going through the tunnel i had just the phone on, no data connection. All went great and no hickups or whatever.

When going back through the tunnel just 45 minutes ago, I did have a data connection open (UMTS) going into the tunnel. Coming out of the tunnel I checked my phone to see if the connection came back up again, which it did not. After a while a balloon popped up saying the connection wouldnt work for an unknown reason.

The connection was still in use when i tried to edit it. But the icon showed nothing (no little G), and no data was transfered when opening a website. It gave me the silly balloon again. Switching the phone off and on via commmanager didnt help :(

After a soft-reset all problems were gone.

Ill try again tomorrow (as i pass through the tunnel again :)) to see if it re-occurs, or that is was just some random event.

Eh...found a bug, I think.

When the ringer volume is change by voice, using Voice Command, it cannot be changed again unless it is with another voice command. If it is set to MEDIUM through VC, and I change it manually through the touch screen, it goes back to MEDIUM setting. I have to use VC to put it back to HIGH, then I can safely change it to what I want.

I might be wrong...lol.

Ok, my original key "40C5" has its entry "Flags" set to 10 (decimal), whereas in my created key "40C4", this entry is set to 11 (also decimal). All remaining entries are the same for both of them (except for "Name", of course). I use such configurations for several months now, through all the ROMs my Exec has already been loaded with, and they work flawlessly for me. I use them, along with PQzII, to operate my Exec in portrait mode without the stylus. From top to botton:
- PQzII makes VOL-D become BAR1 (left softkey) and VOL-U become BAR2 (right one);
- WM Buttons assignment to "Backlight" now starts GSPocketMagic (it could start the normal Start Menu, though);
- PQzII perfoms "Backlight Press & Hold", in order to start MSVC, because my BT heaset starts CVSD (or any other applications you might choose);
- Buttons again turns "Speech" into <OK/Close>;
- Buttons again turrs "Speech (Press & Hold)" (the copied "40C4" folder) into <Context Menu>.
I have not changed the camera buttom, though.
That's it: It works for me, and I don't meed the stylus in portrait mode!

I am having huge issues with the new rom ...... just keeps crashing. Particularly when I try to use wifi or use data services like connecting to planet3. Also when I go to comm manager and try to disconnect GPRS by pressing the data services icon to stop communication. Then its impossible to reboot, it with just keep crashing at he splash screen.

I have discovered that if I keep it connected to external power whislt doing it there is no problem. The battery?......well this happens even on full charge :confused:


Any thoughts?

I have also tryed reinstalling it a few times with a freshly booted PC and also have removed the extended rom and hard reseted it.

Another thing I have noticed is that in file explorer I have now got 2 storage folders, one is the storage card and the othe other just called storage and its about 9.9mb. Could this second one be the allocated space of my empty extended rom :confused:

Guys,

I have looked into the reports of the OS locking-up during reboots and have found something that may explain it...

When I reboot the device and wait until the system is fully loaded (i.e. after today screen loads and adjusts itself), everything is great.

However if I reboot the device and start trying to click on things the second the today screen displays (before it has a chance to adjust), it will lock-up!

Can the users that reported the issue please try rebooting using both methods a few times and let me know the results?

Basically it appears the system needs 2-3 seconds after the today screen appears before the system is really ready for use... I will try to correct this if I can but need more solid info...

I have had this on the 08 version (i am still running it now) and it appears as if it is one of two issues
1) as you have described above
2) may be something to do with a WiFi connection being enabled and trying to connect.

Now that you describe your findings I believe it is 1) because it only seems to hangup when I am in a rush to use it again (and hence the clicking)

DATA ISSUE STILL PRESENT: MORE INFO

I too also still have issues with a constantly active data connection. It is fair to say, that pretty much EVERY time my device switched from 'U' to 'G', the data connection failed with the old rom. ....This appears to have been improved with this rom. I have also seen the data connection re-connect a few times with this new rom, where it would not before..

Still, though, with this ROM I have to cycle the radio at least 2 times a day whilst I am at work, to regain the data connection. Unfortunately, circumstances at work do not allow me to see why the connection is lost, whether it is a loss of signal, or a switch between umts and gprs.

Also, my journey is approximately 60 miles from my home to my place of work.....During this journey, I lose signal 4 times in the same places. With the old ROM, the connection failed to come back up every time. With this new rom, it will fail at least once, but usually twice, and sometimes more out of the four times. There is no pattern with regard to which places the connection comes back up, or how many times.

The ChangeLog included with the Jwright 2.0.2.00 mentions "improved power management".

I would like to know on what level these changes have been made or how this has been achieved - I am asking because I used to have the previous 2.01.08 version installed and then, before flashing the 02.00 version I backed all data and settings up with SpbBackup and after flashing the newest OS ROM version I restored all backuped data back to my Exec.

Now I am a bit afraid that if the changes in the power management scheme are done all or partly in the registry, the backup might have restored the previous registry setting and overwrite the newer a better registry settings by which the improvements achieved in the newer ROM are lost.

Any clue to this?

Sorry, I can see your point now. I may be mistaken, but since for the system to accept the change of the block transfer size requires a soft reset, I expect there is no way to do the change of the fly. May be if it was in some way implemented in the software player...

DATA ISSUE STILL PRESENT: MORE INFO

I too also still have issues with a constantly active data connection. It is fair to say, that pretty much EVERY time my device switched from 'U' to 'G', the data connection failed with the old rom. ....This appears to have been improved with this rom. I have also seen the data connection re-connect a few times with this new rom, where it would not before..

Still, though, with this ROM I have to cycle the radio at least 2 times a day whilst I am at work, to regain the data connection. Unfortunately, circumstances at work do not allow me to see why the connection is lost, whether it is a loss of signal, or a switch between umts and gprs.

Also, my journey is approximately 60 miles from my home to my place of work.....During this journey, I lose signal 4 times in the same places. With the old ROM, the connection failed to come back up every time. With this new rom, it will fail at least once, but usually twice, and sometimes more out of the four times. There is no pattern with regard to which places the connection comes back up, or how many times.

First of all, as usual , thanks a lot to Jwright for his great work ;-)

Now, after a few days of testing i have to agree with Jasonkruys and Biffert: :-(

I still have problems reconnecting data connection when the signal is lost.
I always have the data connection active for DirectPush mail, and sometimes when i lose signal (ie: elevator), the device can't reconnect, which gives me an error that says something like "its impossible to connect due to an unknown reason".
I aggree with jason, when he says that this has been improved if we compare with the old rom version.

Now it seems more stable, but i would say i can't reconnect one out of four times that i lose signal so it's still anoying.
The workaround is still the same, disabling and enabling again the phone...

I live in Spain and my carrier is vodafone.
Im using the radio provided with the ROM (1.13), and i don't have any external apps installed (just to be sure that dont cause me any problems testing the ROM)

I use coreplayer, and indeed there is not a lot of difference when when using for instance "lathe" to make a qvga version of about 250mb.

This will change the reading/writing speed of the sd card.
(you can for instance view "normal" divx 700mb without buffering/stuttering)

But this will most certainly also put a lot of strain on your battery and could even cause your OS to be highly unstable.

Mine is still bootloader 1.00. No problems here for a year and a half, and I tried all the ROMs here already. He just needs an instruction guide on how to use the Ma_Upgrade No ID file.

Windows Vista might be your problem. A lot of them are having trouble upgrading, you might want to perform a search for Windows Vista problems and see if you can find some solution there.

I think people that have Vista have had all sorts of problems installing ROMs, they always seem to find an XP machine to recover...

From the numerous threads, here are the possibilities:

1st: You are upgrading using a USB hub.
2nd: You are using the wrong cable.
3rd: Incompatibility of Active Sync with Vista.
4th: Maybe a corrupt file.

This is strange,

A file of 700mb divx, just played perfectly smooth with coreplayer, without adjusting the block size !
(did not try this with 2.02, because of bad results with earlier rom versions, except. 256block version 0.8)

this must be some kind of super rom -j pulled out of his hat !

edit : file 700mb 1.18 min mpeg4 480x368 framerate 23.976fps
Coreplayer droped about 8% of the frames, but still more than 21 fps, so very acceptable/viewable.

I don't see why the Universal won't be able to handle 128. Right now, my Universal is happy with 256, I'll keep it that way for now, to further test it.

This WM6 is still going great... agreed re waiting for full boot, and the only crash I've had otherwise was with Resco Today meters.

In general, do the previously available tweaks (whether through software, CABs, or reg edits (like all the ones in the Uni wiki)) work for this WM6? I know at least a couple are bad news, e.g., GPRS-Soft, so I am afraid to apply any until I understand this issue better.

The tweak that I need to apply most is to increase phone volume over BT.

The simplest tweak that I can;t find for WM6 is how to move the IE cache to storage card?

I flashed my MDA Pro last night and here's what I've found so far:

GPRS connection doesn't work. However, it didn't work in 2.08 for a few days, either... but then one day it /did/ start working. As a note, for US T-Mobile, the option 'Use IP Address:' is supposed to be set to '216.155.165.050'. I'm going to wait a day or two to see if it just kicks through.

If you try the 'Stop all GPRS Connections' button in the Wireless Manager while the GPRS connection is still /trying/ to connect, the spinning wheel comes up and it takes AGES to go away (on the order of 1-2 minues or longer), as if it's not working right or there is a conflict with it /trying/ to connect and /trying/ to close at the same time.

Put the Windows Mobile Green .tsk back in -- it's nice. :D At the very least, add it into the download .zip.

Please let the end-user choose their own pdf program: don't install Adobe OR any other PDF viewer. I, personally, rarely -- if ever -- view PDFs on my phone. Having one there is just a waste of space.

Same for zip program... same for virtual earth. At least Virtual Earth can be uninstalled (unlock extended ROM, then look in 'Remove Programs'). I prefer Windows Live Search for directions and I don't ever work with zip files on my phone, heh.

So far so good, though, otherwise... A great ROM, just like 2.08! :D

GPRS - that's the first time I've heard of that. The fact that it kicked in a couple of days later suggests a problem external to the Uni? Have you tried changing the radio ROM?

The Stop all GPRS connections is another strange one. What happens if you just hold down the red button for five seconds? Does it disconnect normally?

As to the choice of programs - by including them, he is letting you choose - all you need do is delete them!;)

When the search is done, about a second it will take you to the first character in the search string. Look along it to where the last 2E in the string would be and you will see either 48 for a standard ROM or 60 for Ivans ROM.
Change this in the window on the left for 80. This will give approx 8MB of page pool.

Save the file and exit XVI32.

Recode the ROM using BALs tool and flash to device as normal.

The first four 2E's on the string do change with different ROMs.

I have installed it and everything seems to be working fine except when i use oz vga (default settings) in vga mode, the phone reboots as normal when you change res, after loading it runs very badly with the live bar on the today screen. if i remove the live today bar the phone boots normally. however msn messenger (live version ) will not even load. it will however load in normal mode. I previously had helmi's vanilla ROM on, messenger and live work fine on this install even in VGA mode using ozVGA.

any thoughts woulod be appreciated.

When i install the rom it installs stuff i assume from the extended rom before it deletes them, are these some files i can have or is this intentinal. the reason is when i do a hard reset it does not re-run the files ie, virtual earth, major carriors setup

Well I have to say that I haven't really found anything I dont like about this ROM apart from one thing - I'd prefer Cyberon Voice Commander instead of Voice Command - but thats personal preference.

Maybe a few more apps chucked in for good measure so I dont need to install to memory or storage card for the next version. But i think what we ned to do is agree what are the most useful apps for most people (that dont slow the Uni down) and then they can be added to give us an almost all encompassing ROM.

Well done though Jwrightmcps - this is a big step forward as far as I'm concerned!

When the search is done, about a second it will take you to the first character in the search string. Look along it to where the last 2E in the string would be and you will see either 48 for a standard ROM or 60 for Ivans ROM.
Change this in the window on the left for 80. This will give approx 8MB of page pool.

Save the file and exit XVI32.

Recode the ROM using BALs tool and flash to device as normal.

The first four 2E's on the string do change with different ROMs.

I have extracted this from PDAViet's ROM, but it is exactly the same. I have not tried it yet since I personally use Handy Menu, and it has its own Running Application file.

Just copy the file to the windows folder and soft reset. Then open file explorer and create an icon on Windows>Start Menu>Programs folder.

As a user of Wisbar Advance and advanced Desktop, the last version of thoose applications are perfectly working on my 9000. Its a little bit faster than with wm5 before flashing (maybe because of memory allocation different from my old WM5).

Hi.. Ok so problem is a bit overrated...

The bluetooth audio playback has a tiny tiny bug... The left and right channels are swapped...

I have this audio file that plays left and right channels, and every time his voice says left, it plays in my right ear!

The wired headset is fine, as is the speaker output.... Only the headset is playing it wrong.

Shall i post the same file and get you guys to check as well?

Since I've upgraded to the new ROM I've noticed that my alarm doesn't ring reliably - Does anone else have this problem?

The alarm appears to be triggered at the right time as the 'reminder' appears - it's just that quite often the sound and vibration (I have both enabled) don't happen.

I have noticed that sometimes the sound will trigger several minutes after the alarm has fired - presumably because I have the repeat function enabled.

The only other thing that is different on this version new wm6 setup is that I'm running the new sbp Mobile Shell but I don't think this is causing the problem.

They probably customized the numbers themselves. It is not imposible to change it. Just look at this thread to make BB Connect to work on WM6 ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294218 Basically, for BB Connect to work on WM6, all they have to do is change those numbers to the one BB Connect recognizes.

Ok, been using this for 2 days now, and I got to say I really like it. Runs nicely. I have only had to soft reset once and that was about 40min ago due to only having 17megs program space (think there was a memory leak)

I just got Delivery of my Motorola s805 head phones. Earlier in the thread someone was complaining about bad playback in his car. A lot of stuttering. Well I had the same thing. Untill I remembered an other poster saying to turn off any other BT devices (my headset). I did this and then turned the headphones back on. Perfect play back now, not one bit of stuttering.


I'm interested in that left and right channel swapped bug just posted. So If you want, post the file up and I will test it here too.

GPRS - that's the first time I've heard of that. The fact that it kicked in a couple of days later suggests a problem external to the Uni? Have you tried changing the radio ROM?

I haven't tried changing the radio rom yet, but I intend to -- people have been complaining that I sound pretty bad ever since I updated to WM6. I haven't tested this out yet as it's not a huge priority for me, so I'll try this weekend. I figure I'll try 1.09 as well as 1.14.10 and see what happens.

It seems like the T-Mobile network just doesn't recognize me at first... but then it works fine. It's a very strange issue. I also am not paying for the t-zones service since I seem to be getting full wap access and they don't seem to be charging me. :) When it works, that is, haha.


The Stop all GPRS connections is another strange one. What happens if you just hold down the red button for five seconds? Does it disconnect normally?

If you hold the red button down it doesn't do anything. It's like there is a hangup with stopping a GPRS connection that hasn't fully initiated.


As to the choice of programs - by including them, he is letting you choose - all you need do is delete them!;)

Not so -- you CAN uninstall Skype and Virtual Earth (after you run the extended unlocker), but you CAN NOT uninstall Adobe Reader or Zip. There is some choice, I agree, but not as much as I'd prefer... but at the same time it's his customized ROM, so he can do what he wants. :D

I guess I'd just prefer to have the installers included in the download rather than have them rolled up into the rom. I could either install them myself or just have more device space, which is nice, too.

If i try to start the update tell me that this version is not for mine jasjar...

I think I've found the problem: User Error! So, before I said in a post that you need to set the device IP to be 216.155.165.050 since, well, that's what it says on T-Mobile's page. I just turned it to 'Server Assigned' IP and it worked just fine.

So my guess is that it's not that it takes a few days to register my device or whatever I was imagining before -- it's a few days where I mess with the settings while not paying attention / recording what I'm doing and then finally it works and I forget that I've done anything, haha.

At least on my GPRS issues, ignore me. :p

i think it actually might be the spb, becuase my alarms work fine. they go right on and vib and ring same time. your speakers sound is all the way up?

DATA ISSUE STILL PRESENT: MORE INFO

I too also still have issues with a constantly active data connection. It is fair to say, that pretty much EVERY time my device switched from 'U' to 'G', the data connection failed with the old rom. ....This appears to have been improved with this rom. I have also seen the data connection re-connect a few times with this new rom, where it would not before..

Still, though, with this ROM I have to cycle the radio at least 2 times a day whilst I am at work, to regain the data connection. Unfortunately, circumstances at work do not allow me to see why the connection is lost, whether it is a loss of signal, or a switch between umts and gprs.

Also, my journey is approximately 60 miles from my home to my place of work.....During this journey, I lose signal 4 times in the same places. With the old ROM, the connection failed to come back up every time. With this new rom, it will fail at least once, but usually twice, and sometimes more out of the four times. There is no pattern with regard to which places the connection comes back up, or how many times.

And lastly, when the data connection does fail to come up, If I try to manually re-instate it by an OTA sync or Co-pilot sending data, it attempts to connect for a second then the same error message results every time:

"Dialed: general.t-mobile.uk
No modem at above number. To check your settings and change them if needed, tap settings"

I am able to edit the settings and save them as if the connection is not active (unlike the OP above), but only re-cycling the radio allows me to reconnect..

Hope this helps resolve the problem..I am happy to do any further testing..

I'm in the UK (Dorset/Hampshire)
Connect to T-Mobile
Have an M5000, and use the ROM you post designed for that device.
I remain with radio 1.13 (as provided in the ROM)
I hard reset after the ROM upgrade, and use no backup software to restore..

Do a 120 mile round trip to work, so see this problem a lot!

How much program memory do you have free after soft reset? Sounds like your system may be a bit clogged up? I don't have any of these problems unless my program memory is low.

When I installed the latest ROM JASJAR_WWE_20200_20305_11300, and without any other add-on such as arabizer, I was able to see localized (arabic) characters (alphabets) but are read from left to right, in any of the text based files such as SMS and contacts.

I had an issue and reverted back to JASJAR_WWE_20108_20200_20305_11300, but now all what I get in those same places is squares and just garbage!!

What would be the difference, mind you that I have not installed any outsider localizer!!

1st of all, great ROM! thanks J. and here's my findings so far: "i didn't find the need to apply additional performance registry tweak as the ROM works great".

- some members are trying to see if the sd card block transfer size causes the lock-up on soft reset. but i didn't find it to be the case. i still have occasional lock-up with 64, 128, or 256 block transfer size. i notice it's more due to whether u have programs running during soft reset. i'll get lock-up if i soft reset my device with usb cable attached to it (as it will start activesync). even if i am running on low-bat, those alerts telling me to charge my bat can cause lock-up during soft reset. but other than that it's working fine, so i can live with it. i believe J will find the solution on his next release (in J we trust).

- changing the block transfer size in fact causes WMP to play mp3 not smoothly in the first 10secs, but it will be normal after that. i am not sure if this is due to my sd card. so i change back to 64 and it's playing smoothly since the beginning.

- on tweaks to make the device run faster, like changing the glyphcache cache limit, sysfnt cs, changing the storagemanager cache sizes, etc., i found that it will only reduce my free RAM with no apparent effect in performance increase. i think wm6 has much better memory mgmt such that u dont have to tweak any values. so i kept my device registry value to default.

- i also encountered the 2 seconds delay before talking after answering a call problem. btw, it's not the 3 seconds delay before ring problem. anyone has solution for this? btw, i am using 1.13.0 radio.

Same problem I have with last 3 ROMs 06, 08 and 2.02.
And next main problem for me is memory leak. I soft reseted my device yesterday morning, after SR 26,3 MB free memory. During whole day i had one missed call and AS synced my email every 15 minutes. At 6 pm device had 14,3 MB free memory. I used Oxios Memory Hibernate software for free up memory, only 800 kB released :-(
Has anybody similar problem ?

Sorry, mate... I actually reverted back to XP because of all the networking and sound issues I was having with Vista, so didn't give it much use.

Thanks Dear for ur prompt reply...i can remember that ome of the members here mentioned that he is syncing with vista normally for alll versions of crossbow including this one...but i couldn't find his post even through the search...i hope that he will be reading me so i can compare my settings to him

Maybe I'm wrong but the problem is not "3 rings delay before ringtone but" "Caller can't hear my voice for approx. 2 seconds after answering a call, so when I answer a call I have to wait 2 sec and I can only start talking to caller after that".
Same problem I have with last 3 ROMs 06, 08 and 2.02.
And next main problem for me is memory leak. I soft reseted my device yesterday morning, after SR 26,3 MB free memory. During whole day i had one missed call and AS synced my email every 15 minutes. At 6 pm device had 14,3 MB free memory. I used Oxios Memory Hibernate software for free up memory, only 800 kB released :-(
Has anybody similar problem ?

on my side I see the memory mgmt is really bad in wm6. I have to reset the device when want to run TomTom.

Have a most annoying problem with incomming calls, we have to wait 2-3 sec before one can hear the person on the other side and visa versa. I also appear to experience a memory leak problem, drops sometimes to around 12meg. For the memory leak problem don'r know if its the new version of the ROM or caused be other application programs loaded.

I am located in South Africa and a MTN SA subscriber. I have a specific problem also experienced with .08, when setting up phone for the first time using MTN SA operator settings the 3G / GPRS does not and will not work at all. To Fix I had to reload and use the Vodacom SA operator settings and everything ok. So there seems to be something wrong with the MTN SA settings.

I had no problems with memory leak ( version 2.01.08) until I instaled Wisbar and pocket breeze. At least with the newest versions. I'm not sure if I had problems with some older versions. I don't think I had.

About the call delay, well, maybe that's the price we have to "pay". Fair enough for me.

Just set it to launch "NONE". Make sure you UNTICK lock all buttons on the settings when the device is OFF.

Jwrightmcps great rom and great work with this buggy os . most of bugs such as meory leaks has been killed .but. some bugs of live / such as
1, freezes on start . 90 seconds need to start
2. unstable with most players / when i am open player with for example game / player kills yourself (sad)
3. today that phone give me terrible bug. after reset my uni toally freezes on load desktop. no additional software has been installed (uni after hardreset)/ this bug i solve by hardreset :mad:
4/ screen refresh . When programs take off or crookedly come to the end. The top panel. Shows that that was in the program or a picture seemed at moment of crash or application end. also the start menu quite often hangs. That is after opening the bottom part of the menu all the same view (the screen not refresh).

Problem number one and number three. Have been destroyed. After a upgrade of the radiomodule up to version 1.15 time of full loading was reduced from 90 seconds up to 30. Also after a upgrade 2 second delay was gone at incoming call.

could you possibly include or look into two changes?

one is using mp3s as alarms
the other is

when you open a text message the message opens at the very bottom of the page and i have to scroll up to read it... when it opens is it possible to have it already scrolled to the top? just slightly annoying.

For your second request, just open the Messages app and just tap the drop down menu in the top right corner and select 'Received'...should fix it.

Also I heard that the HTC S710 Vox will be available for sales in two weeks, it will be the first WM6 model.

When you register for earlier versions, you can install the updates with the same serials.

Otherwise, no complaints. It's fast and stable, and I appreciate finally getting support for e-mails in HTML.

I'm unable to count how many times I've had to reset my Exec until now with J's 2.02.00 ROM, but as I have PocketZenPhone running, and it lets the user specify any ringtones for each one of its 7 possible profiles, pushing them over the WM's ringtones, I couldn't detect this default ringtone issue you have experienced.

Didn't work for me twice...noticed it was missing files as compared to radio 1.14 or 1.13...copied those files to the 1.15 folder and now I'm flashing....the rom that is....
