The radio upgrade knows NO language. It is Universal, as far as I know.

sorry..I ment that when installation beggin I have to choose provider from drop down list of providers, but I dont have any provider on this list, and with red letters is written that advice is not to skip this step, but I am forced to skip it...is it there any way to correct it....

about language...I see that Radio versions work only with specified language...? So I need universal Radio for Universal...I think..

I'm sorry but I'm no able to help you. on the 1st issue.

About the second I think it's a known problem, the access time to memory card. You did find a solution so maybe it's not worth to keep searching.

Nevertheless I must say that it's not needed to post the same topic 4 times on the same post:

I can't answer your question because I used the MaUpgrade NoID Tool rather than use JWright's .exe file to upgrade.

O.K. my friend...look this issue...I also used MaUpgrade NoID Tool ...anybody could give some help?..I tried to make upgrade on Universal_Radio_1.14.10 ( so called "Universal Radio") and this is what I have got..."language problem"...

http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4685/capture17032007115045ol9.jpg

maybe it would help to tell that I bought device at HTC dealer, not from provider...but it seems that I do not have such problems that others who are stiched to providers...JWright's UNIVERSAL 6 works apsolutelly stabile (except video call of course),but it seems that choosing providers form instalation list could be avoided...I did not have such error before...

Try this.... go to active sync and connections ... take of the tick next to usb connections (so that active sync will not use usb for active sync)... restart the maupgrad noid tool and try again.

Hope it works for you also.

second problem: convert mp3 ringtonez to wav format and move it to the windows folder. that will significantly reduce the delay.

Please, follow the aniel's directions and let us know whether it worked or not. I would really very much like to know - somewhere some time ago I read that if you have a 4GB SD card, Universal is not able so save pictures taken by its camera on the card.

I am almost about to buy a 4GB SD card myself, but since I use the camera in my Exec from time to time and need to save the pictures on the card I would reconsider my intentions and stick to my 2GB SD card instead.

Too bad. Has anybody succeeded to capture video or pictures from the built in camera on a 4GB SD card?

Up to 2GB card the camera works.

What about the CoolCamera program? Does by chance anybody know whether or not the CoolCamera can handle 4GB SD cards properly?

Going forward, would it be better if anyone with an issue also provides a detailed spec of what they have installed (programs and peripherals)?

Posts of 'It crashes when I boot up' could be down to a ROM issue or easily something they have installed which is clashing...

For example, my Exec is running a lot better since I stopped tryig to run todayplus. With a full spec people can begin to see patterns and possible causes of issues.

For your second request, just open the Messages app and just tap the drop down menu in the top right corner and select 'Received'...should fix it.

actually snipes..
that's not the problem..

when i open a text message up, the screen is all white and i have to scroll up to read it.
in the folder the text messages are arranged to show the latest received at the top. when i click the message i want to read it opens at the bottom of the text message, i have to scoll up to read it.

thanks, though. wonder did anyone find a work around to this?

Hello Jwrightmcps,

First of all, let me thank you for your excellent work on this ROM (and the previous ones), each version is getting better and better.

I have one question: are you aware of the situation where soft-resetting the device programmatically (not by pressing the reset button), actually hangs the device? This issue is there from the first WM6 ROM you've published, but did not had time - until now - to investigate it.

It seems that the method to soft-reset the device via KernelIoControl() is somehow broken or there is something else that prevents the machine from rebooting properly.

Upon invoking the above call, the Today Screen disappears and the only thing left is an almost non-working top bar, forcing you to soft-reset the device with the button. Normally that wouldn't be much of a problem, but it prevents some applications (e.g Spb Pocket Plus, Spb Backup) to work correctly (in particular only Spb Backup has the problem, because the program needs to reset the device after performing a backup).

Initially I thought that Spb Backup was at fault, but turned out - after using a routine that worked in WM5 - that it wasn't and the problem was specific to the ROM or WM6.

Again, thank you very much in advance for your help and efforts in providing us with this ROM. :)

This is identical problem I face too. yesterday I had to reset my device at least 5 times in a go to get the dial pad show by pressing the green button. Perhaps -Jwright will come out with a solution.

Overall an excellent rom with lots of extras. After all no rom on this forum is perfect, so we all got to live with few niggles here and there.

OK, I've been using this vbersion for almost two weeks now

here's my list of problems:

1. It seems to eat battery life : My device falls dead when it reaches ~50% battery, it may be the battery itself is defective, but then why it reports 50% load ?

2. I am experiencing many calls disconnections when i try to access the device during a call. even accessing the contacts is almost always failing the call.

3. Working with two Bluetooth devices is not possible. I tried using My Headset (Motorola HS850) with a Bluetooth GPS Device, NO GO!

4. SIM Manager - When I try to Copy contacts from device to SIM, It doesn't show the contact list like it used to, on ver 1.30.XXX.

does anyone else experiencing such behavior or is it just my device ?
I'm downgrading to 2.01.08 now, will tell you guys if this solves the problems.

Thanks for the help.

P.S. I still can't sync with my Vista/Office 2007 Laptop, though the windows does recognize and install PocketPC Device, and delivers no error after sync process. the Error appears only on the device, and microsoft support pages order me to contact network admin. (I also tried disabling the Vista Firewall, and open the appropriate ports but it didn't seem to help either).

1. Definately the battery. It might be that the battery is actually 50% full in terms of measured voltage, but any kind of current draw will kill it dead.

2. On my M5000, on UK T-Mobile, I have seen no such problems...just spent 15 minutes trying to reproduce it, so maybe a conflict with an app you have installed?

3. This definately works on my M5000, I use my headset and my copilot GPS every day to and from work (120miles) with no problem at all - not sure what to suggest here

4. I'm afraid I dont use this function

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. I have been running this ROM since the beta and was just thinking about giving my updated views when I saw your post. In answer to your points:

1. I don't have this problem. Battery life is exactly the same as before.

2. With Radio 1.13 this ROM was good (reduced delay and pretty good 3G switching). With 1.15 it is even better (desipte what Mamaich says here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1178670#post1178670)

3. I'm with jasonkruys - it works fine (Nokia HS12 and TomTom GPS 2)

4. As with jasonkruys, I dont use this although I seem to remember trying this on the beta and it worked.

Generally, I have been using this for about two weeks or so now and it is by far the most reliable ROM I have used (bar the O2 original ROM which desperately lacks (1) features (2) looks and (3) speed (even in corporate mode). Thanks again J!:D

Hi ChesWiz,

I second what both jasonkruys and apd have posted ! My Exec is faster than ever and each battery charge seems to last 3 days now, with both GSM and BT turned on all day long. It's just amazing ! Thousand thanks to Jwrightmcps for this wonderful ROM!

But I have achieved zero lockups ONLY after I've disabled MSVC (I've replaced it by the patched version of CVSD) and have experienced a general boost in speed after I've loaded radio 1.15.00 into my Exec.

Wish you luck in solving your problems, though !
Cheers !

1. I've been using this device since v1.13.88, and never had those problems before the upgrade, battery used to last until it reached 10~15% before it died, so it somehow related to the upgrade, On the other hand, I've been using this device for almost a year now, so it may be the battery is dying on me simply out of old age :-) , So I'll look into the bigger battery pack, any one had experience with the BIG one (the HTC 3800mAh, or the Honk-Kong made compatibles 3200mAh ones) ?

2. The Only app I added beside the preinstalled ones is iGO 2006, And it never gave me trouble before.

3. as I said I'll try v2.01.08 and let you know.

4. Doesn't any of you use the device as cellular phone?!?!? I found it's good to have your contacts backed up on a SIM, especially when your device is failing repeatedly and you need to be available!!!, oh, eehh, oops, I guess I see now why none of you need it :-D

BTW: I've already noticed that while in v2.02 I seemed to have partial (display only, no input) UTF Support (for Non-Latin Characters, i.e. Hebrew), v2.01 does not have this! is it a bug or some of the system's new feature ?

Would the Final WM6 version support Unicode and All Non-Latin Language natively? would it be with or without input support? oh !#$# I'm straying from the subject, guess I'll search for this in the forum....

Thanks again for your help !

Obviously, but what do U do when you're out of office, and your phone is dead ? you can't just move your SIM to a backup device and continue work, can you ? Usually you don't need such device if you're in your office near your outlook all the time.

BTW :
has anyone tried to sync his device to Linux/KDE Kontact PIM ?
if so, does it sync everything (i.e. Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, etc.)?

I just manage my battery carefully.

If I am in the car using it, (Tomtom, etc) then it is on charge, at work it is charging on sync (or charging even though it won't sync ) and then I charge it overnight.

If I am spending a day away from a charge point, I am careful what I use it for to ensure it never gets below about 40% (as it dies somewhere around 30%).

I've not run out of battery (when I needed it rather than just to lazy to plug it in) for a while now (famous last words).

You say your Uni die somewhere around 30%. !!!
That's what i had with my previous WM5, at around 25%, Uni stop without a message.
Now i move on WM6, i experience a low batterry yesterday night, at 20% message pop up say me low battery. i close my apps and the lid, let only the phone on (no BT or wifi on). 1 hour later, i plug it to power, uni was saying 18% left, but was still ON.
Wm6 seems to be better on this point.

I don't think that it is dying any quicker than ever before, I just think that there is something wrong with the battery meter (could be hardware on a Uni with a battery that is nearly two years old, or WM6); your findings indicate similar.

I've never looked too closely at the actual level it dies, but Magic Button's battery meter looks to be in the final third somewhere :)

I have been running this for a while now, and it is far better than the initial release.

I can now use my Nokia car kit and pressing the button on the car kit starts voice commander :o) and no problem using it with my GPS reciever at the same time.

The only negative I have is that SMS alerts seam to be intermittant. That is if I rest the phone they will work for a period of time and then all goes quiet - no tone or flashing LED. If I (soft) reset the phone all is well again for a while.

Has anyone had the same problem?

I agree with grayme - this sounds like the battery meter is reading the charge differently.

As to the cellular phone point - I realised quite early on that if you want to use a UNi a lot and you wear a suit (therefore no extended batteries), you have to carry a spare battery! Like others, my contatcs are backed up to Outlook.

Chezwiz, reference your battery problem...It is indeed a combination of issues. The first issue is that the battery is simply old, and tired....The second, is that many people have reported when a new ROM is flashed, the battery meter isn't reset properly, and potentially reports an incorrect charge. This may be backed up by the fact that each official rom release advises having your battery at 100% before a rom flash, suggesting that it does have an effect on the battery monitoring.

It does seem, however, that this problem only occurs with dodgy batteries..

I had the same issue, and after reading the many posts on the forum, bought a new genuine replacement..My battery now performs (and reports) as expected. I have retained my 'duff' battery, and put that in the device when flashing new ROM's..

Yes it will void your warranty. It is not an official Imate rom.

Whether you should install this ROM all depends on how technically literate you are.

With all flashing there is a (very small) chance that things may go wrong and you will have to work out how to resolve it (there are tools on here to help).

According to Microsoft, some people have gone to their phone providers who clearly haven't a clue what the problem is, this is part of their call to remove the ROMs from this site as the providers complain to them.

If there is a hardware issue, you could always try to reinstall the offical ROM before going back to the provider... ;)

Hello,

thanks for this WM6 ROM. I installed it on my O2 XDA EXEC a couple of days before and everything seemed ok.

Until today, when the device wouldn't boot - it doesn't get past the initial screen with O2 logo with all the system information displayed:

PU10 64Mb RAM
ROM build info:
Date Mar 07
19:22:03

R 1. 13. 00
G 42. 47. P8
D 2. 02. 00 WWE

I am syncing regularly, so I'll be able to recover almost all data from Outlook. I'm also using 4GB SD card, so no my EXEC getting stuck is no such a big deal data-wise.

I guess this is the price I have to pay for getting a free ROM (which is awesome, anyway!).

But I would still like to know what is the problem as I don't want this to happen to me when I'm out on the travel in Yellowstone with two weeks' worth of not synced data and with no chance to reinstall all the programs from scratch.

Is this a known issue that can be resolved in some other way than by hard resetting the device? Of course, I tried taking out the battery, using another battery, booting with/without the charge cable plugged in, with/without the SD card, with/without the SIM card etc. Still nothing works.

So I guess my only option now is to hard reset the device, correct?

Thanks much for any help,
Michal

I've never suffered this and don't recall anyone else doing so; I would suggest taking the SD card out but you have already done that.

If you are going to do a hard reset then I suggest you could try redownloading the ROM in case the one you got is corrupt in any way.

I have installed the ROM today on my Exec and all I can say is a big, big thank you. Just the speed alone was worth it and as of yet I haven't encountered any problems, but I have SPB Mobile, pocket plus, weather, diary and finance to install yet.

Love the USB HDD, opening up files directly off the storage card is very useful and I can dispense with the Softick Card Export program I would to have installed. :)

All in all one very happy bunny...

Sure thing! Ig you can unhide the STORAGE, while you are on the OEM/Operator rom, you can copy those CABs and throw them back when you are done with the upgrade.

Just becareful to copy what you need only!

Hi rpodos,

I'm not sure whether a post of mine on this same thread, found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1168154&postcount=236, which, by its turn, references another post (also mine) on J's 2.01.06 ROM thread, might help you in some way or not. They make some considerations about BT stereo headsets in general.

Hope it might be useful to you, though.

Thanks for the quick reply (btw, I assume you meant post #236).

I've tried turning on the BT headset, turning on the player, and "Set..." in various combos and orders, none of which have worked. I get the severe skipping and / or stoppage of sound that others have reported.

Interestingly, AVRCP seems to work perfectly!!! WOOT!!! j/k

Yes, you're right. By the time you've noticed the wrong post #, I had just updated it, anyway.

By the way, as an answer to my post #623 on J's 2.01.06 thread (that one I've mentioned as referenced), WhiteMonkey has reported that he had to make a phone call prior to activating A2DP. Please take a look at his post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1151717&postcount=637 and check if it might apply to your case as well, or, otherwise, you might try some other tricks of your own, on this same line, to try to have A2DP running fine with your BT heasets.

Hope you succeed!

Carlos

Make a phone call first? That's a new one for me! Just tried it, and no joy.

Ah well, at least the Uni stock headphones are halfway decent... I'll be watching for further reports on BT stereo.

i have tried this rom and its fantastic. right now my only problem is MMS with Vodafone Australia. i am now trying the darkforce rom and while it may seem quicker, Jwrights rom is much neater and cleaner and more generic. it seems to be a more standard installation with no little manufacturer apps and what not. we shall see how the darkforce goes, but i recon i'll be back to this one...

Sorry guys I had to take some time away from the forum...

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that I have been working on yet another ROM update to patch the remaining bugs. I am now putting things together and will be contacting all you beta testers from the last round to begin testing soon.

Also I did figure out the rest of our radio issues with direct push users. It appears that ActiveSync was causing the issue where after you lost your cellular connection it killed the GPRS and could not connect again (until radio or device reset). To prevent this, I have added a new service.

Now If you use direct push the system will stop ActiveSync when the cellular connection is lost, only starting it again after your connection is restored. This prevents ActiveSync from killing the GPRS thread and corrects the issue.

One more goodie before I go... I also got the "Encryption" feature working now. (pretty cool feature, now that it works!)

Got to get back to work now, but I will be checking my pm's and this forum when time allows...

Hope all is going well for everyone!

Jwrightmcps,

I want to upgrade my JasJar to Crossbow, but flashing is quite an extensive process (i.e.: reinstalling loads of applications, restoring your data, reconfiguring, etc) so I don't want to do it several times.

Any ideas when we should expect a release from you containing a final (non-beta) version of Windows Mobile 6? Really don't want to flash it to a beta of WM6 to then have to re-flash latter on :D.

Thanks,
P.

I have tried several times but I get COunty id error. I have extensively searched the forum but the only solution is to have .nbf files and flash using MAUpgradenoid exe.

How can i extract the files from the .exe files provided so that I can flash my o2 with a jasjar rom (since I am not using the O2 network)

Thank you for your help and for the great work you are doing

Run the update without the jasjar conected, go to the documents and settings folder>your user folder>local settings>temp, open one of the last folders created and there you'll find all the nbf files.

The only problems I am having with this ROM are the soft reset freezes and I'm still trying to find a good Radio stack I tried 13 then 14 and then 09 which is better than the other 2 - but I believe 15 is out now. I use it on T in the UK so i'll play.

Hi

I apologise for my igorance on the matter, but I didn t know that all the roms are the same. Since I had a JASJAR Rom previously installed I was under the wrong impression that they where slightly different (thus after the hard reset there is the operator customisation)

As for your ROM BLOODY GOOD JOB.

The only problems I experience are
the 2 sec delay
virtual earth will show only a blank white screen
the phone pad does not close unless using the red botton (problem solved after hard reset but might re-occur)

Wish list
I would like to have the one click connect /disconnect on toolbar for wifi and GPRS

Again I apologise of my ignorance that the ROMS are all the same, I live in Malta and I am using Vodafone

Thank you for your understanding and explanation

after trying the 2.02 and 2.01 versions, where my battery died on ~50%
I've downgraded back to 1.30, and voila, the battery is now lasting until
~30%!

So although the new version has worked quite good for me, I'm gonna stick to the old one for a while, until my new 3200mAh battery will arrive.

Thanks for all your input.
Side Note: I'm going to try the Linux Version soon, as I'm seek and tired of Micro$oft snuffing any Development effort that does not make them money.

I hope Jwrightmcps will take the effort in that direction, after the last slap the forum got from micro$oft last actions.

Does it last any longer when it goes down to 30% on the older ROM though?

A 'feature' of the WM6 ROM is that the beam settings are set to 'receive all' by default which is a waste of power IMHO.

heyyy jwrightmcps;

my mms has started creating fuss since 2.02.00 WWE. mainly i have two problems.

1) What happens is like when i try to send mms to anyone... it starts sending and the percentage starts running... but as it gets to 99% , the baloon disappears and the mms either remains unsent in the outbox or moves itself into the drafts folder.

I called up my carrier and they say there ain't no problem with their service and my settings rather it is a total handset related problem.

2) Second problem is like... when i used to receive mms, the pictures are always resized. E.g. if the sender has sent me a photo of size 640x480 (file size 70 KB) it gets resized into say size 105 x 80 (File size 7 KB). what i want to know is if this action is normal or are there any settings fix it an get a full sized image as sent.

when ever an mms is sent to an email address it is always as the original size as sent but not in the handset. pls guide if there are any settings the arcsoft mms client 3.5.

thanx & regards,

Outstanding questions:

1) Is there any way to increase voice volume over BT?

2) Is there a stable "GPRS Always On" tweak or CAB?

New question:

3) Has anyone gotten Pocket Player to work properly? There seems to be a small-ish conflict in general, resulting in intermittent errors on exiting, and also setting up for BT seems not to work at all.

When you installed the DLL though, do you remember how many times you had to click Yes or OK? I'm looking to bin my restrictive & expensive Orange UK GPRS simcard, and replace it with a T-Mobile Web N Walk one, but will the sim just insert and work or do I need to get my M5000 unlocked first???

Thanks

I don't know if your phone is locked (my O2 XDA Exec isn't), but you can find out by borrowing a friend's sim from another network; the rom isn't locked.

Some report errors unless the card is over 2Gb full, but we Transcend owners laugh at these statements mwahahahaha.

Sorry, don't know what came over me there

Another strange problem happened last night. My Storage Card disappared and all shortcuts went blank. On clicking I got Certificate error. I removed SD and Re inserted but no Joy. I looked at File Explorer and see the name od my SD Card is now changed on its own to "StorageCard2" . This is strange.
I also see another folder as "storage card" listed in the File explorer which happens to be the original path and nothing inside. I delete it and do soft reset and my SD card is again back to normal with all icons and shortcuts in place.

Anyone exprerienced this?

I am wondering whether it will happen again..... :(

I had this experience using older versions of Wisbar Desktop. It is a bug. Randomly, on boot, Wisbar cannot see data it is looking for if it is stored in the SD Card and establishes a new card (storage2). Do you have Wisbar installed and activated? Latest versions of Wisbar have fixed this bug but at the expense of not allowing storage of graphics data on the SD card, only on internal memory. If you want to stick with your present version you can continue to delete the new card safely and reset.

I had something similar before with JW 2.01.06 that I'm still using.

If you have any program running that uses resources from the SD ( ex:opera cache) and SD is removed ( or by a strange reason it stops working), the system will create a new folder with the storage card reference to allow the program keep working.
Inserting back the SD and deleting the previous folder will put everything OK( reset needed )

That's my interpretation of the facts.
Cheers

Thats what I did prior posting my problem in here.

And I dont have any wisbar application installed.
However, it gave me a scare of my life as I thought I had lost all my data in the SD card.

But is there a possible solution to nip this thing from happening again.

I know the last my battery charge was close to 1 percent and my jasjar
restarted after i connected to the ac supply. Therafter , I saw this problem occur.

In other words one must charge the device when the battery charge remaining is 3-4 percent I guess.

No problem. I will do it in some minutes. I just removed the Sd to copy some files to watch on the train when I return home.
I don't want to get an extra storage card folder, lol

I checkd my settings txt and found the answer:

You must create a "themes" folder and then put the theme folder you want inside. Probably you cn even use the sd for that, but I wouldn't recommend. Mine are inside the wisbar folder.

ANIEL...

here is tutorial from my site and how could you do that what you want...STEP BY STEP..

As first, you must have Wisbar program...When you UNZIP file you will see somthing like this..

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/143/56758986mf6.jpg

As a first you sync your device with computer...all files (NOT FOLDERS!)... you should copy to Windows folder of device( I have marked today theme files)

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/5117/pccapture1av5.jpg

then...folders from computer copy into device into Program Files/Lakeridge/WisBar Advance/Themes as you see here:

http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/3816/pccapture2sw7.jpg

now go to START/SETTINGS/PERSONAL/ and open TODAY menu.....

tin2404
30th March 2007, 03:26 PM
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/4870/pccapture3xd1.jpg

and you will find there THREE NEW THEMES called "POCKET OSX"(MAC):

select and apply one theme of your taste or which you like best (those are today themes which we copied into Windows folder of device) :

...

we are not finnished yet...Now go to START/PROGRAM FILES/WISBARADVANCE/WISBAR ADVANCE SETTINGS/

Maybe a new forum should be setup - Customisation - then wisbar, themes and other items could go into that. Would also attract the non-HTC PPC crowd though I think many visit here any way.

Would also stop the original post going off at a tangent as sometimes happens.

Easiest way of doing it is to hardreset yourphone. If you don't want to do that you can sync with outlook so that all your contacts are copied across, delete them from outlook and sync again (you can back them up into another outlook contacts folder before you do this if you don't want to loose them all).

I'm currently using Jwrights ROM and must say, my first impression is: "gorgeous", nice job! A lot of cool new options, programs which I was using on the previous version as well (am considering to delete the Virtual earth eventhough it is kinda cool).

There are, however a couple of things which bothers me:

I couldn't get past the "tap the screen to setup your Windows mobile based device" message, untill I shortley saw a little white area in the top right corner of the screen and touched that. Before that the screen wasn't responding at all (am I the first one experiencing this problem?)
Takes a while to boot
can't seem to configure the soft keys anymore
The ROM is a little bit slow in use (compared to the official WM5 ROM update given by T-mobile NL)*

I've installed it only 10 minutes ago because I've been thinking "what if things go wrong..." But after a tiny problem with the official T-Mobile WM5 ROM I decided to give it a go and for now, I cant find any real bugs/glitches yet, I'll keep you guys informed :) and try to find solutions for the problems I, and others have came up with

*Working speed does seem to increase after being idle for a couple of minutes

==========
EDIT:

Just got my first freeze after installing and uninstalling Batti v2.1 (uninstalled it because it would keep my left soft key to say "notification" instead of the usual "calendar" but apart from that, I still haven't found any problems yet.

I am still looking for a nice battery indicator because I dislike the stock one... anyone got any tips? I've allready tried Resco explorer with the today plugin and I thinks it looks cool but after about 10 minutes it disabled itself stating that my 14 day trial has expired :s

so suggestions are welcome :)

================
EDIT 2:

Hows battery life anyway in this ROM version? doesn't it still last very long as on WM5 or has it improved... Charging seems to take longer

vinay_rb
4th April 2007, 08:33 AM
It has been almost two days since I have upgraded to WM 6 (2.02). I must say that the 2.02 is one of the most stable ROM updates I have done so far and must commend all the work done by Jwright (Many thanks to you!).
I have then upgraded the radio version from 1.13 to 1.15 and following are few things that just cant go unnoticed:
1. Amazing performance, improved 20% +
2. Responsive, the EXEC has been working as though it is on steroids.
3. Better call management. No delay while answering and ending calls. No call drops whatsoever (I was facing frequent problems with the O2 ROM earlier)
4. Improved screen refresh, no more screen freeze's while changing from potrait to landscape modes.
5. Almost all applications have shown improvement in performance (Explorer, IE, Office mobile, Camera, you name it). I am still checking the stability & reliability of 3G & GPRS.
6. Improved battery life & no issues with bluetooth & WIFI so far.

I will post my experiences on 3G later. The only thing that would make this perfect is Video Calls, hoping Jwright gets this too!

Cheers!

Try magic button, it's free and gives a handy bar at the top of the screen showing battery level.

Battery life is, erm, well as is :) However, you'll get more if you turn off the option to receive all incoming beams.

Hi,

I got my Universal yesterday (finally!!!) and the first three things I did were:

1) Unlock it.
2) Flash it with this WM6 ROM.
3) Registry-Hack for German Keyboard.

There is one thing I did not understand:

I tried several times to use the Qtek 9000 version of the ROM and would always get "Error 101".

Then I tried the MDA Pro version and it worked straight ahead.

What is the difference? I did NOT enter the Bootloader-Mode - I just run the updater directly in both cases.

My Universal was a German MDA Pro, it did accept WWE without complaining.

Is there any further difference between both ROM's, besides the horrible T-Online spash-screen?

Cheers,

It is included, but you don't need to use it if you just want the battery meter.

Before I used Wisbar Advance 2, I used it to close apps rather than a task manager as it was quicker.

Nopes no mayor diffeences i've got a dutch mda pro here. That splash screen is removable for a better I thought there were some threads about that. If you think that splash screen is bad you should see the original theme from t-mobile absolutely horrible. If that doesn't give you nightmares don't know what will.

Have you tried looking in the Wizard Mobile 6 forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=356), considering that the main Wizard forum is subtitled as

Also known as Qtek 9100 / I-mate K-JAM / MDA Vario / O2 XDA Mini S / SPV M3000 / Cingular 8125 / T-Mobile MDA / Dopod 838 / VPA compact II

this would appear to be the most logical location to look in.

For some reason I got around 15-20mb of RAM on my Qtek9000 after a soft reset, and 20-23 when I have disabled every today screen application. This does not bother me at all, however I'd like to know if it's normal :)

Since It's not possible to merge the extended rom with the phone's memory, can I still use it to install data or will I risk my Qtek?

Thank you for your wonderful ROM! This is my 1st attempt to flush it. It works beautifully! The only problem I faced is with my itech clip radio bluetooth headset. When I paired them and used "wireless headset" the sound is distorted and the video becomes jerkie. Any fix for it?

Once again, THANK YOU!

Cheers,

you need to input all the mms and internet settings again, at least thats what i had to do on my M5000, i called up orange and they guided me through the process. working fine now:)

im using radio 1.15 so far made 6 hours of calls without any issues

Hi,
I have all the settings configured. If I flash the image from O2 everything works fine. I also installed another WM5 image but it didnt work until i downgraded to Radio 1.09. I tried that with this image as well but no difference.

Hi Jimliew

Follow these instructions:-
Start Menu. Settings. Voice command. Remove the tick in "Enabled". Now try your Bluetooth headset. It works for me everytime. Glory to Jwrightmcps.

1. Urm... flight mode is just the radio disabled, you'll find that feature in the comms manager looking like a phone.

2. You sure you have the network key correct? Working fine on mine.

Urm... thanks SpyderTracks... but no it's not. The phone symbol only disables phone type activity. It doesn't disable bluetooth or wifi... flight mode disables ALL wireless connectivity protocols.

2. Yes... it works fine until I use the phone, then it asks for a key. In fact to add a bit more info. It actually deletes the connection altogether. I have to recreate it.

I've been meaning to upgrade to WM6 for sometime now.. and now my phone is on it's deathbed... so many probs, it's hanging for a flash...

My question: Does this version have streaming media player built in? As this is fairly important for me...

Yes it does, haven't actually used the built in one myself, but it is there.

@davidberrysmith, sorry mate, didn't mean to sound pedantic with my last post, just sounded like "one of those" questions :D Much clearer now with a little more info.

I just use the comms manager to turn on/off the phone/bt/gprs. Not sure, but maybe the third party apps like spbPocketPlus/RescoToday have flight mode operation.

No idea on the WiFi problem though, sorry.

Hi,

Though I have read the whole thread, I can't remember reading about this:

With this rom, when I open the phone and select Keypad, the battery/communications toolbar will be over the last row of keys of the keypad, which is quite annoying.

Is there a way of fixing this?

Thanks,
Vitor

The new search feature in Outlook mobile is not working on mine....can someone verify?

When in your inbox, you should be able to type letters and the inbox should be filtered for items containing those letters, kinda like the contacts in smart dial...If there is nothing matching in your inbox on the device, it should inform you, and give you the option of searching the server (with exchange 2007)

Neither bit appears to work..can someone verify?

Hi, OS seems to be working great! If however, I select the Service Provider (MTN South Africa) it sends the 3g modem into a "hang". I cannot dial up etc. If I bypass this during setup, and add the connection settings manually, it works fine. Any ideas?

I had the same problem after auto-configuring with the Vodacom settings. Eventually downgraded my radio to 1.09 & I have no hangs after soft-resetting or switching bet. GPRS/3G etc. From my experience, I can only deduce it's the radio version as I had the same problem running Darkforce's ROM with radios 1.13-1.15

Jwrightmcps, great ROM........

I am on radio 1.15 and has been alot more stable than the other radio roms for me. Using jwrightmcps latest rom and on mtn.

It is the best to configure the settings manually as the settings in the cab for mtn is not correct.

Usually when I create a document under Word mobile 5 containing 10,000 words, 100k size, opening and closing the file was a breeze within 2 seconds.

Ever since I created document under Word Mobile 6 with the same amount of words, opening and closing the file took ages, over 10 seconds which was very disturbing. The problem excarbates for the worse when I use Format like Bold, Italized, Underline, bulletings.

Word documents created under Word Mobile 5 were still fast when you tried to open/close them under Word Mobile 6. It seems the delay problem occurs only when you create a new word document using Word Mobile 6.

Is this the problem with every WM6 or it is just Jwright version of Crossbow?
Would this be rectified in the final version of WM6?

Any Solutions?
At the moment I am using note whenever I am in the meeting where speed for opening and closing different files in getting different data is imperative. Once the meeting is over, I just copy the words inside the notes and paste it into Word Mobile document.

Thank you.

click camera settings,tools,options, general and saveto...storage card.

If you set up in camera options 'save to sorage card' and it's 4gb card you'll get error message 'Unable to capture. Not enough memory. 36009:111:0'

Impressed ROM indeed! The battery lasts longer than the previous build. However, my GPRS seems to connect just one until the device is reset, otherwise the connecting icon animates for a while then disappear. I dont know whether it is network or ROM problem? My wish: the bluetooth could route the ringtones to BT headset since the Uni dont have external screen to watch incoming call. Thank JW, keep up the great job.

yo bro jwrightmcps!

when are we having a newer updated rom from your side... this one is pretty stable till date amoung alll the roms on planet.

i was wondering if you could quote any target dates for your upcoming ROM.

My suggestion for the upcoming is to pls. consider the followup feature in outlook mobile as it is there in the official rom my M$. Also the newly release live messenger. its beta still but see if it is worth adding.

thumbs up again!

ciao

If you set up in camera options 'save to sorage card' and it's 4gb card you'll get error message 'Unable to capture. Not enough memory. 36009:111:0'

Fill the card on 50 %... That empty seat remains less than 2 gigabytes... As a result at you all will perfectly earn and will be kept

With the HS-12W headset you can have caller ID (name). And its not the only headset that can do that.

My problem with this rom is the bt range. Little less that 1 m!! Can you imagine that?

I wish jwrightmcps could solve this in his next rom.

Can anybody tell me how to arrange more memory for appliacations to run?
when i am in "normal operation" with my qtek 9000, i only have about 4 - 6 megs of memory available for appliactions to run in, and this sometimes causes the device to stop working.

perhaps it is due to a memory leak, because when i rest the device, i have about 20 megs available, when no applictions are running (according to the memory status tool) and when it has been running for about a day, and according to the memory status tool no apps are running, i only have 7 - 9 megs of memory available?!

any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

I think I have got it:
Firstly you need a regedit program like PHM regedit (registry editor).

You have to change the following registry entries to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction :

.)EnableCPHSONS;
.)NoGPRSAutoAttach.
