Hello,
I've got a strange problem. It happens when the battery is severely drained and my sd card can not be supported anymore because of it. When I recharge the battery I get the message Unknown usb device. You can input a name and then get unable too install USB device I haven't got the correct name in yet. But when that happens nothing works. You get a lot of errors.
The only thing that works is a soft reset. I'm happy that a soft reset brings it around but it is still annoying. Does someone else have that problem?

G'day all.
Ok, I'm new to the forum but not to PC's / PPC's.
The installation of the ROM was a breeze, really. And playing with it the last couple of day's was even more fun - been running the stock latest release iMate JASJAR ROM till now. REALLY like the interface, really like the new app additions and generally everything about it. BUT; in my experience at least, she ain't that stable.
I only installed two apps HandySwitcher and MemMaid and no registry hacks and frankly, I was not impressed with the performance or the stability. Now after reading through the posts and getting the general feel I seem to be the only one… that speaks up anyway.
So, what am I missing? I would really like to use this new version as I like the interface and the added features but; being a full time user - this is my phone, diary, planner, toy, book case, document library and basically my life – I cant afford to boot in the middle of a mail or sit and wonder if I will ever get out of this freeze.
How about it, am I missing something?
PS. Just finished loading ROM 1.30.76 and my it's ugly...

I recently changed from the WM5 to the WM6 Crossbow.
I found out that I often accedently delete mails and SMS messages, because the WM5 Outlook left Softkey was "New" message.
But know they have changed that to "Delete"... why does Microsoft changes something like that suddenly?
Is there a way to change this back to "new" in the registry for example? I don't find settings to be able to control the default softkey behavior for Outlook to do this from the menu for example.

I'd suggest you look for the QTEK ROM 1.30.77 or the TMobile ROM 1.30.115
Better than the IMate ROMs, plus they both support A2DP, if you use BT Stereo. I don't think IMate released a version with A2DP support.

Thanks for the reply cktlcmd, but I think you misunderstood: the ROM I was referring to that i installed is Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM Update 2.02.00 WWE.
My PS statement was simply an observation of the iMatae ROM I had to revert to after all my stated problems with Jwrightmcps's ROM...

I guess you're in the minority - not that that's a consolation!
Unless someone here has a bright idea I think there are only three things you can try:
1) Try a different version of the Radio. I can't really help with a surefire winner here because it seems to depend on who you are with and where you are, but 1.09, 1.13 and 1.15 all have their fans. You should be able to get the Radio ROMs on the FTP site. I'm using 1.15 and I'm very pleased with it, but YMMV.
2) Do a hard reset - hold down both soft keys on the keyboard and poke the reset hole with the stylus. Then at the prompt press 0 for a reset to factory defaults. This will give you a clean copy of the ROM.
3) Reflash the ROM. I know it sounds silly, but it can work. Just don't connect your phone to the PC through a USB hub!

Hi dadio22,
Yes, I do experience such an issue sometimes, the last one being some 3 days ago, but, unforunately, I don't have a solution for it.
I noticed it first in J's 2.01.06 ROM, but it keeps showing up in 2.02.00. It starts just the way you have reported, but if you tried to play a little bit with it, perhaps you might have noticed the very strange behaviour I have posted on that old ROM's thread, which you could find at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1164485&postcount=868. It is really annoying !
I hope Jwrightmcps is able to track its causes down for his next release.
Cheers !

Heey,
I tries 2.01.06 for a few weeks and not once did i get the unknown usb device error. And I always plug in my phone on the net when i absolutely need to.
So I'm a little stumped as too what the problem is. I heard rumors about new roms coming from t-mobile (my provider) for the device but haven't heard it from anyone else. The roms were AKU 3.3 and a crossbow rom.
anybody know if it's true??

I had the same thing happening while deleting a few hundred megabytes from the SD card. Suddenly my screen went totally white, and the SD card was not recognised until a second soft-reset. My IMate JasJar was connected to the charger, it had nothing to do with the battery in my case.
Works fine again after the soft-resets.

Yes, I undersdtood you correctly, that is why I suggested the 2 Official WM5 ROMs from 2 different operators, because IMHO, those 2 are better than the latest IMate Official WM5 ROM you posted you want to revert back into.

WM6 is good and stable with the following ROMs I tried: Dark Force, JWright, PDAViet, Helmi, and any ROM based on Helmi's ROM Cooker (like yours and Laurentius). My gripe is the instability of switching from GPRS. All WM6 I tried had the same problem. WM5 don't have it. So rather than spend time performing a soft reset just so I can reconnect to GPRS without any problem, I downgraded to a ROM I know I can depend on so as not to loose the connection. I also tried different radio ROMs with WM6, but to no avail. The only combination that I found works is WM5 and any radio ROM. Now, I'm happy again. :D

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. Can this application allow automatic switching, for example if GPRS is down, will it automatically switch to UMTS without to manually press any button?

Yes !
you can choose "use GSM band only" in low coverage areas.
and it works in auto mode if you don't choose "gsm band only"
(you can also let it switch do different "profiles" at pre determined time )

Actually you can use the upgrade tool if need be.You just need to follow directions.I will be honest.I have had my JasJar for a year now and bricked it 1 time, how and why?NOT READING THE DIRECTIONS!I let my jasjar actually sit for a few months untouched and unused since december from the last JW upgrade. When i got the word that there was another ROM upgrade to WM6,what did i do?Tried to install the new ROM using an external hub (which i know myself was and is a NO NO!!)and bricked my device. After a a couple of hours of reading, finally figured out that it was my own fault.Taking the time to read the wiki pages are very useful and some if not all questions are answered here on the forum in a more than timely fashion. If you are new to upgrading your device, and you are unsure about something,ASK BEFORE YOU DO IT!Because once you start upgrading, this voids your precious warrenty. So take the time to ask and read posts before upgrading and pointing fingers at someone that is bringing nothing but the best to the table. My hats off to you JW!Aniel1-i have been very busy my friend, glad to see that you are still very active here in the forums!

Thank you so much for this fantastic ROM. I was very nearly going to dump my M5000 as there are no obvious upgrades for this otherwise superb phone but this ROM update has refreshed my interest in keeping this phone. It seems faster than the old Orange ROM and I love all the new found functionality (having voice command as standard is great!).
Looking forward to any updates that may be coming.
Great work!!

Hi John
Great To have u back
There is no greater cheer in one as talented as you to be among us
I installed yr new rom, It was going great but i forgot to take out the Mem card and it stalled, stuck at BL screen did a MTTY and re started the procedure, this time around i was in the car and my Laptop battery died on me :(,well there i was with a semi finished JJ and i did a MTTY (set 14 0)again and this time went on smoothly. I face a strange problem my Radio seems to skip and fade out frequently, Is this a common problem. I cant place my hands on yr older AKU3.2 ROM as well so i cant downgrade as well.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Even if u dont I am looking around..
Thanx for doing such a great job for a multitude of PPC afficiondos

Off-topic, I know, but here's a link to a software downloads page for the HTC P3600. Scroll down the page for the Network Settings Wizards. I downloaded the UK wizard which works perfectly on the Universal, at least for O2. I'm pretty certain that Orange's settings are in there too.

Hi,
I'm hoping somebody can help me with this bizarre problem.
My voicemail key no longer works after flashing this rom (and DARK FORCE WM6 ROM). I've now found out why and i'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction AND hope that if anybody has the same problem this will help them.
My voicemail access number is +440697.... It's set in the phone correctly. However when using this ROM and the Dark Force ROM, the number ACTUALLY dialled is +44697 (ie. no 0 after the +44). This causes me not to have access to my voicemail (I get the response 'you have dialled an incorrect number').
I flashed the latest T-Mobile ROM back onto my phone and the voicemail access number is again the same +440697... HOWEVER, when I dial this it actually dials +440697 (ie. it does dial the 0 after the +44). I can then access voicemail every time.
So the problem is that one little 0 - however I have no idea what is causing the phone to skip it. Dialing rules somewhere that deletes the 0? But where!!?!?
Anybody any ideas at all? Any help? Anything? I really don't want to have to go back to Helmi's old ROM (which worked fine) or the T-Mobile ROM (which is full of crap as we all know).

Hi and welcome!
The T-Mobile MDA Compact III is NOT an HTC Universal. This means you flashed it with a ROM for a completely different device... no wonder it hangs. I think that phone is known as the HTC Artemis.
What you will need to do is to re-flash your phone with a ROM meant for it. Since the phone at least starts to boot, I think you will be successful. For a WM6 ROM, You will want to go to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=302955).
I don't know how to put your phone into bootloader mode, but that is probably what you'll have to do.
Good luck!

Have you tried using just 0697 as the voicemail number? (on O2 I just use 901)
Is it removing the 0 as it follows the UK dialing tone?

Thanks for replying. There was a typo - my voicemail number starts 066, but anyway, the rest is still relevant.
I've tried:
0667
066
and in these cases the phone actually dials 0667 and 066. When I dial +440667... (either manually or by pressing the voicemail button) the phone shows +44667 (ie. the 0 is missing). When the call ends it shows 'Last call +440667...' (ie. the 0 is there).
So the phone is actually accepting +440667 but when it comes to actually dialling, it's removing the 0.
This to me sounds a bit like dialling rules (ie. skip the 0 after a +44 which is normal as it you're dialling a number in the UK from abroad, you do skip the 0).
I didn't know you could get dialling rules for normal numbers and the dialling rules under Connections is turned off, although I don't think these are applicable anyway.
I am at a complete loss as to what is going on. My phone isn't anything different from other MDA Pro's. I've flashed it and reflashed it. I've went from WM6 to WM5 and back the way and the two WM6 ROM's I've tried have this problem. The two WM5 ROM's I've tried (Helmi's and T-Mobile official one) work as they should!

I just tried on my O2, I got to leave a message as the other person was unable to take my call! :D
Virgin used to have a number that you put in front of your whole number less the 0, +44065, I wonder if that would become +4465 on WM6?

Now that I know it's not just me, how do I submit this as a bug?!
Mate, I don't know what your going on about. My XDA Exec loaded with this Jwrightsmcps WM6 rom has not had any probs with voicmail. I just press and hold 1 and it calls voicemail (T-Mob). All I did was select T-Mob during set up and all has been well.

In fact, I have got to say thanks to Jwrightmcps for an excelent effort. I held off upgrading from Helmi's AKU3.5 for a while, but took the plunge a couple of weeks ago. Bloody glad I did now. Works a treat. Not had to reset as often as I did b4 (touch wood).
Many thanks

Mav,
I'm not sure if you meant that to sound quite as confrontational, but it did! If you read the original post you'd know what I was 'going on about'.
I've done everything you've just mentioned (installed T-Mobile UK when the ROM finished) and it doesn't work. As I said it keeps missing out the 0 after the +44.
Maybe your phone dials your mobile number when you press voicemail, which as some kind soul pointed out, actually works. That's what I'm using now.
I'm glad yours works. Mine doesn't. That's why I'm looking for help. As I've pointed out this is the second WM6 ROM I've tried that does this so it's obviously not the ROM that's the problem (unless they are both based on the same base ROM) but probably WM6.

So have I. It is one of the best ROM's I've used (but then this is only my fourth so maybe my opinion doesn't count).
It works a treat although I hate the new dial pad, but that's WM6's fault not Jwrightmcps's!
Keep up the good work. I'll PM him about the problem I've been discussing!

I'm fairly certain that problem has been reported, and confirmed, previously...no harm in reporting it again just in case..:)
Also worth noting is that I think the voicemail number is taken from the simcard, not from the settings cab at the end of setup. It is probably that Mav's voicemail number doesn't start with +44050xxxxx or whatever, possibly just his own mobile number as suggested

I had the problem with the voicemail too, here in U.S....talked to T-Mobile and re-entered the number voice mail has to dial...no problems since.

Hi,
I spoke to T-Mobile here in the UK as I did think it was a problem at their end. They did fob me off with 'we have a problem with our voicemail system today if you try again tomorrow it will be okay'. When I told the guy at the other end this had in fact been going on for weeks, he didn't quite know what to say :-)

I used to be on Orange with a Nokia and got terrible reception.
I called over six times about it over several weeks, each time there was a temporary problem with a local transmitter.

Sorry mate, It was not ment to be confrontational. (funny, I have the same problem at work too, mabey time to take a chill pill!).
FYI, when using the international format for CLIs, you always miss out the first 0 in the actual CLI. So, 0044(0)77300..... or +4477300.... are one and the same, the first 0 of the actual CLI (077300...)is not dialed. Just verified this on my XDA, it dials +44795300...
My XDA is not dialing it's own number to get to voicemale.
Does this help at all

Have tried to install this ROM update as per your instructions, to the letter, on my O2 Xda Exec, but the phone has just gone black and lost the connection with ActiveSync and now I cannot re-connect as the device is no longer recognised as it has been wiped!!!
How can I re-install the ROM in this situation, with ActiveSync no longer recognising the phone and with the phone in this state?
Bit peeved, hoping you can help.

Try flashing with the official O2 ROM and you can reflash over that.

First off, JWright; in the PPC world your like a god when people mention your name. You don't know how ofte I hear people say "I'll put that JWright" or "I'll put that on JRom" to help them prove their point on any given subject. "If it ain't Wright it ain't right" is another one. Keep up the good work JWright.
Does anyone have a screenshots of this ROM? I would love to se em. Also If I have the Vodafone V1640 using it on a T-Mobile US network, which rom version should I use? Any help would be appreciated

I have only the problem with voice dialing. I need the old voice tags, because MS Voice Commands does not speak Polish. I do not know which one should I use, instead.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How-To Verify a digitally signed file against a known serial number
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1
Download the file you wish for your device.
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip")
Step 2
Unzip the download.
(double-click the ".zip" file and then click on "Extract all files")
Step 3
Open the directory that you un-zipped the download to.
(i.e. folder "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship")
Step 4
Locate the InstallSheild setup program in the ROM folder, then right-click it and choose "Properties".
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.exe")
Step 5
Once the file properties is open select the "Digital Signatures" tab, then in the "Signature List" double-click the "HTCCertificates signing authority" signature.
Step 6
Once the "Digital Signature Details" is open select the "Advanced" tab then compare the "Serial number" with the known one.
(My S/N: “ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61”)
Step 7 (Results)
If the serial numbers match then rest easy because you are using a "TRUE" Jwrightmcps ROM that has not been altered and is virus-free.
If the serial number does not match then it is not my original work and should not be used!
NOTE: I did this is case these files make it onto other sites, it will give you guys a way to tell if it is really mine or not. I will always use this serial number (ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61) from now on to sign all my work, so please make note of it!

Universal ROMs you'll find on many threads here are meant to be flashed into HTC Universal devices only, the branded models like i-mate Jasjar, O2 Xda Exec, SPV-M5000, Dopod 900, Qtek 9000, etc.
So, don't flash any of them into your device. Otherwise you'll, most probably, brick it!
Your i-mate k-jam is one of the HTC Wizard's versions. Please, take a look at this site (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard_New) for further details.
Cheers!

Yes, this is the forum for our beloved universal...take a look at xda-wiki, there is all instructions for you. Another thing: this is an old rom, take a look at tomal and luca work (wm6.1)!!!
