NOTE: The installs have been digitally signed for your confidence and safety!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How-To Verify a digitally signed file against a known serial number
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1
Download the file you wish for your device.
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.zip")
Step 2
Unzip the download.
(double-click the ".zip" file and then click on "Extract all files")
Step 3
Open the directory that you un-zipped the download to.
(i.e. folder "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship")
Step 4
Locate the InstallSheild setup program in the ROM folder, then right-click it and choose "Properties".
(i.e. "JASJAR_WWE_20108_20301_11300_wwe_ship.exe")
Step 5
Once the file properties is open select the "Digital Signatures" tab, then in the "Signature List" double-click the "HTCCertificates signing authority" signature.
Step 6
Once the "Digital Signature Details" is open select the "Advanced" tab then compare the "Serial number" with the known one.
(My S/N: “ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61”)
Step 7 (Results)
If the serial numbers match then rest easy because you are using a "TRUE" Jwrightmcps ROM that has not been altered and is virus-free.
If the serial number does not match then it is not my original work and should not be used!
NOTE: I did this is case these files make it onto other sites, it will give you guys a way to tell if it is really mine or not. I will always use this serial number (ec b8 10 3b e7 65 19 ba 4f 05 48 14 e3 34 97 61) from now on to sign all my work, so please make note of it!

Downloading now.
I wouldn't usually ask this on a new release thread, BUT...
I just got my first Universal, an O2 XDA Exec. I have been waiting for the new Crossbow release before doing any flashing. I have been reading and reading the Wiki and the assorted faqs/threads, but I am still a bit unsure of how to proceed.
Do I just run the InstallShield as described in the OP, or do I need to do something else first? I have the Unlocker and the Bootloader 1.01 (I have a G3), but not sure if I need to use them.
[EDIT: Started reading the thread for the last release, and now know just to run it. Awesome!]
[Edit2: But everyone please bear with me, as I am new to both Universal and Crossbow!!]
Thanks,
Richard
ps: THANKS FOR THE EFFORT... totally psyched for WM6 on the Uni!!

Thanks a lot, Jwrightmcps!
You are really one of the greatest SW developers out here. I have it loaded in my Xda Exec for a couple of hours now. Everything seems to be perfect. I have not activated the video call cab because there is no 3G in my area yet. So, no botter. I have not experienced any of the issues I had with version 2.01.08 (posted in your 2.01.06 thread) so far. Perhaps it's is due to the fact that I've made a full reloading of all my apps, without restoring them from a backup through SpriteBackup. I'll keep you informed in case I detect any flaws from now on.
Thanks again, :D
Cheers!

Any reason for that?

Ahoy there,
Excellent effort on this new release. Flashed my device and encountered 0 major issues. Voice Command works flawlessly now with my I-Tech Clip S and am very comfortable in issuing Voice Commands to Media Player when playing my Audio Library. Apple will no doubt steal this mode of interface now and claim it to be their own innovation!
The major issue of the OS lock-ups during boot-up are definitely gone. Good Job!
The "Sounds and Notifications" still contain entries that produce no sounds. This is obviously not a hinderance to the performance of the Universal.
Noticible changes in the Radio is that the "3G" icon has now become the "U" icon. Regarding the performance of the Radio, no obvious improvement or degradation so far from the last 1.13.00 Radio Release.
You said that the Video Call CAB file is still in beta and under construction. Will wait for its release. Right now, the Video Call hard-key directs you to the normal voice call interface.
Will keep you posted of Radio issues I encounter, if any.
I will be reverting the ExtROM back to 2.03.01 WWE since Virtual Earth Mobile is totally useless outside the US.
I will also be setting the SD transfer block-size to 256K. Why did you throttle this down to 64K in 2.02.00 WWE anyway?
Anyway, Kudos for this achievement.

Some of my experience which made me revert back.
1. Long boot up time - 50 secs
2. Temporary freezing after boot up - 30 secs to go away
3. Furthur freezing when using apps - 30-60 secs to go away
4. SMS not coming in (due to freezes)
5. Phone call not coming in (due to freezes)
Crossbow beta seems to still be rather unstable.
Maybe I'm the only one experiencing this.
Today apps I Used:
- Pocket Plus
- Pocket Breeze
- Phone Dashboard
I restored over 25K worth of emails & smses, though I doubt this caused the freezing.

After running a pretty intensive ebook through Adobe Reader LM 2.0, I can only conclude that the performance hit is not enough for the device to be unsuitable for multitasking.
Besides, the comments:
# Zooming in too far will make the program run out of memory and cancel the zooming.
# Some PDF files may crash the program. Please report!
# No support for non-western character encodings.
... is enough for Pocket Xpdf to be excluded from the ROMs, don't you think?

Having given up with testing new ROMs because I couldn't get any reliability out of using it as a phone or from the data / push email I am giving this latest release a go because Jwrightmcps stated that the Radio issues should be sorted.
As usual a very good base ROM with everything as I would expect; so far no lock ups, phone calls received and made (whilst data connection active) push email working without a problem. Yet to test the GPRS to 3G hand over & will run a trip into London test later in the week to see whether the Radio / ROM issues really have been sorted.
Minor complaint about the lack of "ring tones", sure this is either an oversight or easily fixed.
I agree with others about the inclusion / exclusion of Acrobat & Virtual Earth. If you don't like them remove & replace.
One thing that is better is that Opera now loads when I have other programs open, on my other XDA with the O2 AKU 2 software it won't load when other programs are open, it complains about storage but will run when I close all apps.

Help me please am stuck in the boot loader screen & i tried using mtty utility as i did before but i can never find the USB port in the ports drop down menu
any ideas please???!
Thanks Jwrightmcps for the umpteenth time!
Quick question: is there a way to get rid of the lower bar on the today screen (that is battery icon and com manager) so that I maximize today screen real estate?
I tried it by registry editing with your last rom but then the universal froze and had to do a hard reset.

Try substituting radio 1.13 with 1.09. This sometimes solves the freezing problem. See if she freezes without the Today plug-ins.

Thank you! So, if I have 256K block size, the transffer speed to the SD card will be higher than in case of 64K?
Let us know how the stability goes, the reason it was reduced was the higher block size was eating battery and causing freezing.
Great new rom.
Sure I only installed it a few hours ago but so far everything seems to work just find.

First I had the wm2006 rom update 2.01.08 WWE running on my Imate Jasjar. There were some bugs, but I managed to cope with those bugs.
Now today, I decided to upgrade to the new wm2006 v2.02.00 WWE. But after the upgrade my phone won't boot up properly. The iMate splash logo would show up as well as the version numbers of the Radio, OS, and Extended roms, but afterwards, nothing happens. It just freezes. I've tried flashing it back to wm2006 v2.01.08 but it would refuse to flash the Radio ROM.
I was then advised by "satanisme" to go to this link and read more about Radio failures...

After carefully reading the instructions, I carried out the Mtty procedure to restore DOC partitions as instructed and this is what I got:
USB>task 28 55aa
flFormatPhysicalDrive:status=23
DOC_format failed!
USB>
Now I've even downgraded to wm2005 v1.90.96 & Radio v1.13.00 and it still keeps hanging on the iMate splash screen with the Rom versions being displayed... :-(
Please help... I don't know what happened here... I was simply upgrading to Jwrightmcps's new wm2006 ROM and all this just started happening.

Well, the reason why you feel overlooked is probably because nobody uses the Arabic language.
FYI, the suffix WWE means "World Wide English" which obviously is not Arabic. Also, your query isn't exactly precise either. Are you referring to the OS language being in Arabic or simply Arabic font support for apps?
The probability of v2.02.00 WWE being Arabic at the OS level is 0%. But I think there are ways to make apps support the Arabic fonts, all you need to do is install the font into the device - something which I know nothing about.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I cannot find a Hide Comm Manager cab on the ftp site nor in the cabs included with the new rom. Can anyone tell me how to entirely remove the bottom bar on the today screen (or let me know what cab to install).
Thanks,
casouzaj

Voice Command is active by default. No CABs needed to activate it.
You can find Cyberon Voice Speed Dial (CVSD) at ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/Tools_and_Programs/Cyberon Voice Speed Dial v1.1 build 507271.rar (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/Tools_and_Programs/Cyberon%20Voice%20Speed%20Dial%20v1.1%20build%2050 7271.rar). Upack it, copy the file BA_WM5_Voice_Dialler_2.cab to your device (or Storage Card) and click on it. Choose the installation location. There's no need to previously uninstall MSVC. CVSD will install over it, and when you press the multi-function button on your BT headset, you'll see that CVSD will come up, instead of MSVC. You may choose to keep MSVC active, though, e.g. by assigning it to a hardware button. It will work as well. Only not via your BT headset anymore. Hope this helps answering JayRayMee.NL's original question.
Cheers!

To answer member tamerhassan, any of those ROMs available with WWE (World Wide English) are standard for the English OS. Nevertheless, they are arabic friendly (i.e. when you install IMAGiNET Suite, the arabic today calendar and prayer timer should work well. After all, it is the additional software (IMAGiNET) that does arabizer the device and not the OS!
Now, if you're talking about having arabic apps, I know most of apps developers do not consider arabic as targeted language and therefore ignored or in this case, not considered!
Should you need further assistance, PM me and shall guide you coz I have done this 1000 times. You can see my signature, 1.30.171!!

ok my initial oberservations for this rom. of course it is great. now with regards to freezes..... if you soft reset in landscape mode it freezes maybe 10 percent of the time sometimes repeadtedly but not more than twice.....if you soft reset while in portrait mode it never does freeze had soft rest my device more than 50 times am pretty darn sure of this but don't know what the cause is.
second cmon guys if you can just read through the forums then most of your answers will be answered.
third with regards to extended rom...why dont we help jwright in making this rom more stable for us and report the bugs and issues....extended rom is an easy fix....would rather have a stable rom than a personalized extended rom...what do you guys think?

SPV M5000
pdaviet 2.08.00/jwrightmcps 2.20.00
Radio 1.14.10/1.13 with jwright 2.20.00
Empty Ext Rom/until jwrightmcps obviously.
Applied ROM first thing this morning, after first reboot the phone locked halfway through the today screen. Waited ten minutes to see if it would clear (you never know). Soft reset, came back ok. Paired headset, did nothing with it for maybe an hour (I had work to do ;) ). Phone rang, BT headset did not respond, could not answer call. Missed call. Rebooted phone, tried Bluetooth, all ok. Attached to Wifi at home. Another call, headset doesn't respond. Managed to pick this one up by pressing the button on the headset (pda then "recognises" its there) then again to get call.
Installed TomTom6, paired BT GPS. Installed rest of normal software (Commontime mNotes, pocketputty, ozVGA, vjFullScreenTSC, PocketMechanic)
Phone locks up again when trying to receive a call, appears to have problems drawing the screen. Reboot, and locks in reboot.
Lose temper and reinstall PDAVIET.
I am NOT saying pdaviet (I've got similar BT problems on this one, except they don't lock the phone) is better, I'm not saying "god this rom sucks", I'm trying to point out that whilst many, many people are using this ROM without issue, I am not.
to be honest, I'm probably going to go back to the one ROM that has been reasonably stable *for my application*, which is Helmi AKU3.5.
I am happy to do any testing that anyone wants, just don't paint me with the same brush as some of these other posters.

I was then advised by "satanisme" to go to this link and read more about Radio failures...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289325
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.
I managed to brick my XDA when trying to install an earlier Crossbow version from my Visat Laptop. The only way around it (& I tried loads of things) was to re-install the officiall vendor's OS, Radio & Ext ROM from a different PC running XP.
I was able to get the XDA into Bootloader and then the XP PC was able to flash it with the older OS.
I haven't had a problem with this ROM & I doubt it is the actual ROM that has done it (only a guess from experience).
It isn't very nice to lose your device, you have my sympathy.

I went out for short while taking my XDA & didn't look at it again until 45mins after I got back in. It was without a phone signal at all & kept searching - flight mode on & off got the FULL signla back. This doesn't bode well for Radio 1.13 if it can't handle a short loss of service & then pick up again.
I had a data connection established when I went out, is it possible that this prevents the phone from picking up again after the signal loss ?

ok my initial oberservations for this rom. of course it is great. now with regards to freezes..... if you soft reset in landscape mode it freezes maybe 10 percent of the time sometimes repeadtedly but not more than twice.....if you soft reset while in portrait mode it never does freeze had soft rest my device more than 50 times am pretty darn sure of this but don't know what the cause is.
second cmon guys if you can just read through the forums then most of your answers will be answered.
third with regards to extended rom...why dont we help jwright in making this rom more stable for us and report the bugs and issues....extended rom is an easy fix....would rather have a stable rom than a personalized extended rom...what do you guys think?
This might be peanuts but having MagicButton in the ExtROM would make sense as far as completeness of a ROM package is concerned.
Dumping Virtual Earth for Google Maps is also recommended simply because Google Maps is more globally comprehensive than Virtual Earth.
Anti-Virus apps are definitely not needed in PDA Phones because they are totally impractical. The best defence in this sense is your own brain since you should know what kinds executables to avoid. This is a bit harder if you are receiving mass mails though.
A "fun" app that could be considered is a "Visual Cryptography" app made by a Taiwanese software company. Not sure what its called. Maybe starts with 'Q'.
PocketRAR is also natural to have in the ExtROM.
Minimoz or Opera might also be a handy app that deserves a place in the ExtROM.

thanks for ur advice but did u try this before as i doesn't seem to be a cable problem to me
thanks
Yes I did.
On my first attemp. I got stuck on bootloader.
The only way to have USB on the device way to remove the cable and I would have it for 1ms.
Then, I used the original cable and the exit bootloader tool and the problem was solved.

@Tansoftware
When you get a Docformat failed message with task 28, you're Universal is officially screwed. It does not matter what you will try,
the only remedy is to turn it in for repairs and get a new motherboard. Believe me, it happened twice to me. I also know why it happened in my case. I did not push the hard reset buttons correctly when I upgraded and then did a hard reset again while the system was still soft-resetting from my first wrong attempt: et voila: screwed.

I must say that this ROM is a lot snappier than .06...and I am ecstatic that VC works flawlessly now...
I'm really satisfied with this ROM. I still kept the 1.09 radio though...just because it's more efficient in my opinion than 1.13.
Great ROM. Please don't make anymore, I don't wanna update anymore, this is perfect, lol! Thanks a million man, you're one talented individual.
Edit: I did have a couple of hangups, after installing some CABs and soft resetting, but nothing bad.

Hi,
My first day experience,
-Battery consumption is a lot better
-No more problems with the radio
-Rom is faster than the 08 version
-Contacts navigation is beautiful
-Calendar looks great
View hangers after softreset, disabled voice command, no hangers anymore!
I'm happy, everything looks fast and stable!
One question I already mentioned before in this thread, could you give us the videocall cab activation?
Thanks Jwrightmcps!

We had a brief discussion of this on the last thread; I proposed that each Uni gets a fair amount of stick and as such each could be unique in how it works.
You only need to see how two identical models can be on the same network and placed next to each other and see how one has full signal and the other less.
Plus, maybe the files could be corrupt on download, etc?

Tried that... Still doesn't boot up properly... I was told be someone in the forum that some sort of hardware damage is reason for all of this. And that this hardware damage was a result of improper reset button combination during the upgrade.
If that's true, then how come I could still succesfully upgrade/downgrade my Radio, OS, and Extended roms ? How could I still access my Bootloader if there's a hardware failure ?
It just doesn't make any sence...
Still confused and seriously need help :-(

A while back I tried to flash via the USB hub and seemed to brick my device, I got round it via flashing with the official O2 ROM...
Also going back to my hx4700 iPaq I did something even more silly.... after leaving the battery out all day that reflashed too.

According to the 1st post, included in this ROM is:
- Bundled IP-telephony (VoIP, SIP standard)
Can anyone who has installed this ROM tell me if the actual VoIP SIP application is included (i.e. someplace to set up SIP server, login details...etc) or is it just the "Internet Calling" today plugin that is present in the other Crossbow ROMs?
Has anyone managed to set it up and use it?

Don't cut and paste the Mtty commands from the post. Pasting the commands using your mouse or the (CTRL+v) method will not work under Mtty for some reason. Instead type them manually using your keyboard. After typing them, I was able to format & repartition my DOC_Tables. Later I installed i-mate's most recent rom image and everything's working fine.
I'll try wm2006 v2.02.00 again tomorrow morning.
Wish me luck :-)

All these things that are fixed in this new rom are great and Jwright's work is more than excellent.
But,i still have to say that this rom is based on the same OLD crossbow core.
The major question for me is not when are we going to have a new rom with some more fixes or addons but when we will have a rom based on the FINAL (rtm) core of crossbow that has been released already.
I really hope one of the developers to give us an answer....

RTM versions are being released months before final products see the light of the sun.Developers test them for long period and that's the "path" that we get the leaked roms...
So....
Is it early to get a leak?
Are there any developers working for a rom based on the final core?

1. Howdo I get speed dial. Its not there.
2. On the today screen the date does not show the day like "tuesday, wednesday etc"
3. Now Voice command works perfect directing the voice to bluetooth, however if one wants to direct the same back to device, how does one do it.
4. The only freeze taking place is when the dialpad comes up to enter sim password and when phone is searching the network after the boot.
5. On pressing the display light switch the display setting page keeps popping up. Any solutions.

Urm, Mr Astraman sir/madam, don't know if you noticed but there were about 750 posts to the last Jwright thread and I'm sure there will be as many in this thread... there is a reason for this. If you have problems installing ROMs resulting in performance problems, please ask for advice, if not, please ignore the 100's of people on this thread who are happily running a very sweet Crossbow setup and asking themselves for advice on any issues they are experiencing. *ends speech*
I agree with this. There is absolutely no reason to be rude (or obsequious). Just be polite while informing your fellow forum members about developments and your own experiences. Using words like "screw" does not help anyone and only serves to irritate other, well-meaning members. One can understand frustration and wrath but this does not have to be played out in such a manner that others get hurt or slighted.

Jwrightmcps,
I have just finished the full installation of your new ROM. All I can say at this time is "Thank-you" for making the installing of these new ROMs less of a 'dark art'. You have managed to make the installation of a new rom 'friendly' to those that might not be so completely comfortable with all of the 'assumptions' that are so ofter made in user groups. (let the record reflect that I can change my ROMS without .exe files!! :-o )
All is working for the moment but I haven't finished adding all my rubbish etc. I will report back with my findings.
Until then - You deserve all of the thanks and praise that you are currently getting. Your a good man Charlie Brown!

I've just upgraded my Universal (O2 Exec), to jwrightmcps' 2.02 Version
Windows Mobile 6.
Upgrade works great, and anything I tried worked OK.
While on my desktop I'm using WinXP +AS 4.5, and Office 2003 without a problem .
However, on my Laptop (ThinkPad T43), running Windows Vista Ultimate (+Windows Mobile Device Center - The equivalant of ActiveSync), and Office 2007, I'm having problem syncing the device.
I don't get any error on the laptop, but get an 0x8000FFFF error on the device.
None of my Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes etc. is synced in either way.
any one got the same problem?
it is obvious that the combination is the problem, as I didn't experience any problem before upgrading to Vista. (WinXP with ActiveSync 4.5 + Office 2007 worked fine).
any ideas for solutions?
off topic:
Should the wireless support 11g (54M) connection, as it doesn't seem to work. only 11b is working (11M) for me.

Hello,
I've just upgraded my Universal (O2 Exec), to jwrightmcps' 2.02 Version
Windows Mobile 6.
Upgrade works great, and anything I tried worked OK.

I think the error code you mentioned is to do with activesync. Just browse through microsoft site and search the error code you mentioned and perhaps you may find some clue.
For wireless check your wireless router and tick on allow all type support. I am not sure what it may be called though.

Have you downloaded the latest version of this that is now a release version ?
I have never had a problem with WMDC & the XDA whatever version of OS is on the XDA; been using Vista for 8 months without sync problems.
When you attach the XDA to the PC does Vista tell you that it is adding device drivers for it, if not then it may not be a software issue at all. Can you try different USB ports or a different cable ?
I know that this may seem basic but in WMDC under Mobile Device Settings - Connection Settings is USB enabled ?

Could you tell how you over clocked your universal, and if one wants to revert back how is to be done. :)

we are not complaning....but we see it just a wast of time....every ROM after Helmi v1.1 was just a pain in the ass....just someone tell me what is the difference....i will tell you....just more bugs....more posts asking for solving these bugs...this what i call it wast of time....if the new ROM added a Video call option for example...i will be the first one to thank the one who did it....but i can not see any thing new....so why we wast our time while we have a good running ROM ( Helmi v1.1 )...this is my openion
Just wanted to report that I tried removing the comm manager and battery status in order to be rid of the bar at the bottom of today screen, but as before when removing the comm manager my jasjar has difficulty rebooting and when it eventually reboots it becomes very sluggish. In short, I have not found a solution for effectively removing bottom bar (I used the cabs suggested in earlier posts).
New suggestions are welcome,

No offense, but...
Firstly, my opinion is, that you do not need to change the size of your text. Everyone who owns a UNI should be able to read "normal" sized text messages.
In second, why do you care about the time of others? If it's waste of time for you, just simply don't flash it or even read and post to this thread (since this should be time wasting in your eyes too). My definition of time wasting is scrolling through threads that has tons of posts like yours...
Cheers, and by the way: take it easy man, we're here to have fun and learn something...

Well thats YOUR opinion, I myself find this ROM superb.
My M5000 fis real quick now
Its clean and has loads of free memory.
After unlocking the ExtROM all my installed apps fitted in here with the exception of TomTom6
I have never had any freezes and have had no issues to be concerned about.
The phone app plays up now and again, but then that is no different than the official Orange ROM and is probably to do with RadioROM.
The only thing I have noted and others may be interested is that I had never had any issue with Memory loss until the last couple of days using this ROM, but since switching OFF the HTC Task Manager this issue has gone away, never used it previously, which lends me to think that it isnt actually close apps properly as the ammount of memory loss does tie up quite closely to the ammount I now get if I leave the same frequently used apps open. Just a thought for you all.
So anyway in summary
1. Superb ROM
2. Dont use the HTC Task Manager.
3. Dont come here moaning about a ROM if you aint gonna use it, just stay over on your forum thread and leave this one to the people that are using it happily but have a few minor issues (usually which are a result of installed apps)

i am also happy with all the developers....but if there was a develope....we all know that there will not be any develope at WM6 unless we get a device running WM6 in hand....so why every day someone come and promis people here that he will give theme the very best WM6 that they ever seen.....and when we flash our devices...you know the rest of the story and you can go throuth all the posts talking about BUGS....just stop promising people that you got or done something others do not have or done....

Few small issues.
Tks. Other wise its one of the best rom I have got, rather I have enjoyed all Jwright roms on my Jasjar. Now the buzy signal is back too woot!.:)
:)
Hi Aniel1,
I'll try to make a little contribuition with things I have already passed through:
1. I've tried to answer this question to someone else on this very thread. It is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1166594&postcount=115.
2. You might try to go to Start > Settings > System Tab > Regional Settings > Date Tab > Long date dropdown menu. One of the options there will show what you're looking for.
3. Theoretically, every BT headset should have some means to redirect the voice back to the phone, either by short pressing the MFB twice, or a combination of other keys. Please, check your BT headset's user manual for intructions about it. In case you are unable to to do it, you could just turn off your BT headset: audio would be rerouted to the device in this case. As I've said, this is theory. I have not tried it, though.
4. I haven't enabled SIM password. I've set the device's password instead, and I have not experienced any freezes after soft reset this way.
5. It has been answered by someone else before, and you've already read it.
Hope this could help you.
Cheers,
Carlos
