[BETA] WM6 Dailer Skin - Big Buttons & Smartdail

At last:
Now we have a way to have a big button Dailer Skin WITH Smartdail.

I have rebuild the dll from scratch, and now we can use it for dailerskinning WM6.

The attached skin is a BETA, this means not everyting looks nice, but it is a great starting point for making new skins, or adapting existing skins.

To do (DLL):
-Layout tweaking (I am not happy yet with the overal layout)

Please post your suggestions here, and I'll consider them, and the good ones will be incorperated into the dll, and eventualy into the dailer-skin builder I am working on.

OMG I freaking LOVE you man! It looks amazing! I am going to keep it! It looks a lot better than the standard layout, and GREAT for dialing with the fingers (I have an invidisible shield screen pretector so its practically scratch resistant). Not only that, for some reason, it FIXED my redialing issue. With the new crossbow rom, it wouldn't call the most recent person on the history list because it was organized in alphabetical order. A history log should obviously be organized by TIME. But i dunno man, it works and I just wanted to say kudos! U have really made my device a million times easier to call vai touch screen. It is something i would consider using permanently. However some minor suggestions would be to shrink the text of the list of last people called so you and possibly widen it across the screen, so you could see more than just two recent entries.

As for the sugestions:
The backspace button is a bit in the way for the calllist, but I'll try to widen the list and still keep a backspace button in one form or another, or else find a way to edit the fontsize of the list.

Well, I am working on a program that will create the skin for you.
Just choose the background, select the button-layout, adjust the transparency of the buttons, press: build cab, and presto, you have created a new skin :)

I am beta testing a part of it now, looks very promissing :)

It's a feature from wm6..

Ugly feature lol, have to press 5 times to dial number. Ah well atleast the buttons are big and it does predict the number :)

Hey this is a great skin. Loved this in WM5, and now we have it for WM6, thanks a lot!

If you wait to immediately dial the number, don't press the center button, press the send button. It won't go through the contact to dial the number.

1) Most of us will have the Internet Dialing feature. In original skin, you can see which network you are using on top left of the screen in phone. For example, for me, the original Wm6 skin shows: Orange when I'm on my GSM network and "VoIP" when I choose the internet dialing.

#3 is due to smartskeys disable it in the \windows\smartskey.ini the dpad there are comments in the file you`ll see :)

Great skin! I notice that it does not re-orient properly when the phone is in landscape mode, is this a bug or just not implemented yet?

First off, thank you for your hard work, I have enjoyed using this skin, and until now I had no problems with it. I recently updated from Faria's vanilla kitchen, to mUn/Double-Ofour's Kitchen. The number pad buttons are inop or wrong, the smartdial is not right, and when I switch to call staus, it gets all skewed...
it happens with version 1 &2...

Any Ideas?

FYI this is working great on my Cingular 8525 (Hermes) with WM6.

Which one did you use the 1st one or the secound one ? I tried the secound one with the CUSTEL WM VI Professional v1.3 and the buttons were screwed up. I just got my 8525 and The buttons are too small. How did you get it to work for you ? REally really need this. Thanks.

So anyway to get this to work with the 8525 ? I found a big button E-Ten skin and it works but it has the old WM5 type of layout and the history and such I like the new WM6 where you can see the history from the main screen. ANy help is greatly appreciated

My latest does work with faria's last wm6 release, I am still using it.

As soon as there is a standard kernel to work with, I will go furter with this project.

I`m on hermes and using the custel WM6 this is the 5.2.1236 Build 17741.0.2.1

and that file can I jsut send you from the \Windows ? is that fine or you need it from the ROM it self ? Thank you so much for helping me I really really appreciate it !!!!!!

Please!! I am using mUn's latest, Do you just have to change the dialer or is it something we can change I am cooking my own version with DoubleO4's kitchen.

The mui file is placed in the xip.

Never tried to cook a rom with my own mui, always used a cab.

You can extract it from the rom by dumping it, or you could get it out of the kitchen.
I have to see your files to uderstand why it's not working.

its still 240x 320 so its still qvga and the skin it self looks ok just the buttons are out of place and the smartdial wasnt running, I think it has to do with the kernel like you said before. If you can tell me how to get the files out I`ll get them out. THis is the ROM that Im using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307213

Interesting. I had problems with button misalignments, so i just scrapped it. I always assumed it was a skin error when I couldn't edit the images right to fit. Didn't think it could be a rom problem, as the older paulya skins worked fine with every wm5 build i ever used. I'm using Xplore currently.

Is there someone who can explain how to build these diallers and the dll's for them? The current dialler (beta) doesn't have the button down images for instance, and I'd love to modify the skin, but don't know where to start...

im also looking for the smardial that has a capable of skinning the caller ID.. you know when some one calls and that calling message is skined.. thats available in the smartdial version XX something.. thats doesnt availbale in our build in..

Because with the original wm6 dailer, and wm6's own smartdail it should work.

Also everyting should turn back to normal after uninstalling the cab.

Yeah when you uninstall it looks fine. But it doesnt work with the new releases. All of them not just hermes..... Strange :( I dont think anyof them have anything extra cooked in.

Smartdial feature still works on this Big Button Skin. See screen shots below.

After you install, you will notice that the smartdial box has a very light background. Some pople like it, some people don't because they have a hard time seeing the white text on a light background. Therefore I have supplied some of the smartdial background images that i have edited for those who wish to have their smart dial section look like the screen shots provided.


Instructions: Unzip dark back.zip, then transfer these images into the Windows Directory of your phone. Enjoy!

The dll resources are a bit different, you can use my resource dll to activate some functions (yours still has htc smartdail instead of the new smartdail).

Howto:
Open my layout-only.dll (this is actualy tapres.dll.0409.mui)
Change the resources you need (eg. [dialog] 22500 ; 22507 ; 22509 ; 22510)

Then use a resource editor like restorator 2007, open both the phcanrc.dll, and my layout-only.dll; copy and paste the changed resources to your dll.

Then save your new dll, and sign it.

The layout only is only to use as a layout file, the resources must be copied to the new dll, and the new file has to be signed, otherwise it will fail!

Also leave the HTC smartdail out of the registry so delete all [HKLM]software/HTC/smartdailing/ keys in your cab.
This will give the microsoft smartdail a chance when using the new resources ;)

PS. I also added your dll ;)

Just unzip the dark back.zip and place it in your windows folder. It makes it 10x easier to see :) (see screen shots in my other posting [#55])

After installing the cab, I no longer have any buttons at all. When I open the the dialer, it looks just like the original dialer except there is no buttons. You can touch where the buttons used to be and it will dial, but there is nothing but blue screen.

I released the reTOUCHed dialer based on the HTC touch dialer quite some time ago.
It has been used in many roms.
Frankly I really appreciate that dialer the most.
