Tips for people using Helmi WM6 v1.1

Dears,
as you all know this is the best WM6 ROM you can get on the net...but somepeople face minor problems with this ROM...following are some tips for this ROM users:

1) if you ever face a freeze....this is because the Today Screen....DO NOT INSTALL RESCO TODAY plugin....it cause freeze during incomming calls...as i noticed the battery indecator in the resco takes long time to show the status of the battery which it seems cause the freeze...i am using SPB mobile shell on today screen and working great.

2) DO NOT USE the HTC X Close....it is really making problem with WM6 ROM and may cause freeze.

3) if you want to use M$ voice command....install it from scrach....on the internal memory of the device ( not on the SD )....i did and it works great with my Jabra Bluetooth....but still not able to get notification on incoming call throught the bluetooth.

4) if you live in the Arab world you can use the Arabizer v339 or v342....works great with this ROM....very fast in changing the languge of the screen keyboard....NO PROBLEM AT ALL..the only issue is the external keyboard...there is no Arabic and this is the problem of the Arabizer on all ROMs even WM5.

the lockups on soft reset can be fixed by changing the sd card block size.

which setting to use, currently 64, btw tried uninstall htc x button but it is still there in the SETTING. any idea?

yes it's my g3.

Also 256 is the block size that stops them.

Hi,

I have a G3, but I can't say I had many soft resets when I increased the blocked size on using Helmi's ROM.

I now am trying JWright's. Give me some time and to settle the issue with regards to the SD Block size of 256. I will do my own test and increase it to 256MB on my G3 Universal to settle all doubts about that FREEZING.

OK, so far no FREEZING after 25 soft resets by poking the pin hole. Tried opening apps, still no FREEZE. Tried making a call, NO FREEZE. Tried my BT Headset, NO FREEZE. Watched a movie, NO FREEZE. I can't comment on battery consumption as I am using an extended battery. I think I'll keep the 256 setting.

I guess it is safe to conclude that having a G3 does not necessarilly mean if I increase my SD Card Block size to 256 would cause any FREEZING. It must be something in the ROM or probably the type of SD Card.

Just tell me what you have on your Today Screen?.....this is the main reason

Please guys read what i wrote in the first post.....what do you have on your Today Screen????....this is what cause this problem....do not use recso today plugin....and you can test the other today plugins yourselfe....for me i have sbp shell and working very good....just use the ROM for some days without any extra programs as see yourself....

now i have changed the version radio(1.15)and installed the cab sound fix from rom dark... we see...

My tip:do not use SPB Mobile Shell in RealVGA mode,I mean just don't let its today item appeared in RealVGA mode.
Otherwise you will face a freeze and the only thing you can do is to hardreset your device.

What was your previous Radio.....this is one tip i forgot to meniton......Radio 1.14 is so bad with WM6....the best radio is 1.13 and i mentioned that somewhere in the forum few weeks ago....sorry not to mention that before......

Agree with that. Radio 1.13 is the way to go with WM6.

I'm using Imaginet Arabizer v342 but I have two problems!

1. When I'm writing an English SMS which it's 160 Character per 1...it shows them 70 like the Arabic one.

2.While writing the SMS it always scroll down to I can't see what I wrote in the above line!

Agree with that. Radio 1.13 is the way to go with WM6.

BTW, I am running Jwrightmcps ROM 2.02.00 WWE and Radio 1.15.00, found no issue at all. I even believe it's got better reception and signal strength -as far as I experienced!

Okay. I have gone through all of this and after several trials, I got through. I have installed one of the newest imaginet .cab files that contains two font files and the rest with v.337 and then my SMS in one shot writes 160 and no missing lines!

Try these two files by dropping them into your %CE% folder (i.e. \windows\).

Do let me know what happens coz I do not feel I would have tried in vain!

For me, 1.15 works fine as well.

For me 1.15 is the most stable radio ROM. I'm using it with Helmi's v1.1, and have also tried 1.11, 1.12, 1.13, 1.14.10, and they all seem to have problems of one sort or another.

The earlier versions seem to have better data handling when going from cell to cell, or from a signal/no signal/signal scenario, but seem to suffer on call stability. v1.15 is undoubtedly the best ROM in all aspects in my experience - good data and call handling.

I'm on T-Mobile in the UK with an XDA Exec.

i am using jswright's ROM V2.02.00 and arabizer v342 and i have like this problem before that i was using PDAVIET V2.01.08 with arabizer V337 with no problem
what should i do now? this is very important for me

I have not encountered any issue with v.337, nevertheless the latest rom of Jwright, seems to support arabic font except that it is read mirrored! You must install arabizer to read it correctly and even write arabic.

So, my advice is to install v.337 and try!
