Hello guys.

Well.... after all these days playing with this rom the ghost of cannot-turn-on-wifi-pressing-once-on-comm-manager attacked me. I just cant turn on wifi of course i softreset my device, overclock the app via battery status at <260 mhz and still the wifi wont turn on.

Any suggestion??

Ive been looking for the cab of the green comm manager which i hear solves this problem, but i couldnt find it.

Can someone repost it or attach into this thread??

Edit: I underclock the comm manager program via battery status and it work perfectly,perhaps it has somenthing related to the speed of the wifi activation request. Try it if you have this issue, let me know

I am new to the forums here and a bit experienced in the PDA area but some questions I have need to be answered before I attempt to load a new rom (this is from previous experience in the smartphone area and the phone not working after rom install :( although I did fix that problem).
I have a T-Mobile MDA and want to know:
1. Will this rom support my current Tmobile Sim?
2. Bootloader 2xxx is required to load the new rom, where can I get this if I do not already have it?
3. I understand this is not a WM 5 or 6 rom but an original from HTC, is this correct?
4. is there any other TMobile users out there that can verify this rom will work and connect to the TMobile network?
5. Last but not least, I am a huge user of a Pharos GPS (bluetooth) reciever and Mapopolis Navagation software with my MDA. Has anyone had any problem connecting to a bluetooth reciever and or a problem with Mapopilis with this new ROM?

It should work with any SIM - the SIM part is not affected by the upgrade.

I think you'd really have an old phone if you didn't have an IPL/SPL 2.x ... the big question is do you have a G4 or a G3 phone ... There are plenty of threads where you can find out how to check that, and if you haven't read all of them and/or you don't know the answer to that question, you shouldn't be playing with upgrading your "proto-brick" until you know what sort it is, and why knowing is important. Once you know the facts, you can go see how to upgrade your boot loader ... There are threads on almost everything on this forum.

3. I understand this is not a WM 5 or 6 rom but an original from HTC, is this correct?

Faria will need to answer that one - but it's a generic HTC Wizard WM6 OS as far as I can see (i.e. not a modified one for another phone).

4. is there any other TMobile users out there that can verify this rom will work and connect to the TMobile network?

Not me - I'm on Dutch Vodaphone, and it works on mine, in Ehglish. It even has a service provider setup buit in .. lemme look ... yup - USA T-Mobile_VPN+wap and UK TMobile are there - is that what you needed to know?

I use a no-name, el cheapo, bluetooth GPS receiver from Korea and Tom-Tom talks to it effortlessly. Takes Ca. 40 seconds from cold start to an accurate acquisition and fix ... I would expect if mine works, yours will ... but no experience with Mapopolis and Pharos directly.

If and when you are ready to try, make sure you have an OEM original ROM to revert to if all else fails ... then you won't need to worry about your BT Navigator. You can always flash back if it doesn't work ... and if you don't have an original before you start ... well ... you didn't read the complete thread anywhere near well enough.

Sorry to seem obscure in places, but from experience I can assure you that there is no substitute for going out and finding the answers rather than asking for them. I read too many "I screwed up what do I do now?" threads from people who only skimmed the surface of the information, asked a couple of questions, and then flashed ... so if people don't provide direct answers, it's because they want you to know for yourself. I'm a real noob when it comes to this PDA/XDA game, but I've been successful 3 times so far so something on this forum is working right.

Faria, I haven't flashed in a very long time. I was looking for something more lasting and I have found it, I think. Hard to tell from only one day of use. So far so good. Obrigado!

All went well; however I had to reset about four times to get past the initial boot lag instead of the one time you mentioned. All is slick now and I am impressed with the included apps. I wish I didn't buy Resco Ex and Tweaks 2k now but that was ten months ago. I have only installed one app so far because I have everything I need utility wise. May add resco pic view, tcpmp and pocket player later to the card.

settings/system/registry wizard for all of those who want to get certain reg hacks back (I got really tired of reading about this over and over again). People you just have to look around a bit.

The answer to your question is that the faria rom (and most roms for that matter) is attempting to install features that are contained in the extended (ext) rom. Since you have a LOCKED G4, the ext rom does not get installed when upgrading your ROM. It is a security feature of the G4 chip set.

My suggestion is head to the G4 section of the wizard forum and read about how to use the different tools (shell tool) to upgrade to cooked roms with a G4 phone. Also, if you want to unlock your G4, the only way to do that is to go through IMEI.co.uk and pay.

Anybody else having problems keeping your Bluetooth set as the handsfree?

Anytime I go into the phone, the Bluetooth doesn't show anymore.

I have to go to Bluetooth, Settings, Press and Hold my Bluetooth headset until the context menu comes up...then Set as Handfree.

Shouldn't it maybe keep a check mark next to it?

Anyway, I have to do this every few hours. When a call comes in, I need to do that procedure, then jump back to the phone call status..otherwise, handsfree doesn't work.

Note, I never had this issue until running this ROM. My WM5 cooked worked across reboots and always kept my bluetooth headset as the handsfree.

You will save yourself a lot of pain and heartache if you shell out the $40 and get your G4 CID Unlocked... http://imei-check.co.uk Numerous people on these boards have done this and they upgrade with no issues. Granted a lot of people also don't do this and use shell tool and upgrade to most roms with no issues, but I've seen numerous reports in this thread of G4 upgrades not going as smooth with shell tool.

Here's the obvious reply... You probably want to go to the Atom boards and ask there. This is a Wizard forum, and this ROM is for the Wizard. Get someone that knows about the XDA Atom to look and answer whether this is doable or not, or to point you to what is available on the Atom.

Installed this ROM and it is really GREAT!!! Just 2 issues and it wourld be 110% perfect:

1. As a german native speaker I would like to use MS Voice Command german 1.6 instead of the preinstalled english one. I treid to install the german one on the storage card, I tried to overwrite the english files... -> it didn't work. Afterwards both versions didn't work.
Does anybody know how to change voice command english to german?!?

2. On my hardware-keyboard I have no "Umlaute" (äöüÄÖÜß). When I type an "u" and the the "dot"-button plus "Sym" -> nothing happens!! Not an ú or an ù or an ü. Just *nothing*. U stays u. Tried to replace the sym.txt in windows, but it is in Rom and write-protected. Totalcommander and Reso fail to replace the file...
Anyone any idea?!?

Hi Jimmy!

#1: install + reinstall + install should solve your problem, i think i read this somewhere in the forum, sorry if it´s not working.

#2: there are 3 or 4 reg keys to change =>wm6: changing keyboard language
+ copy sym.txt to the windows folder (set sym.txt read only!) i did this several times on my desktop, and it works

or search after Hades German Language pack for WM5 - thats easier + works on WM6 + German Word complete!

Interestingly enough, I thought I had a CID Locked G4 (well .. AFAIK I do) from Vodafone NL. Its a few months old, and runs 2.16.001 IPL/SPL. In error, I installed the Faria ROM using the full install, and not surprisingly, when I rebooted, it came up with the old Dutch OS .. but when I then installed the Faria OS only, using shelltool, it found the extended ROM contents, and installed the extras .. I'm confused, but happy :) ... I'm not complaining, bu for the record I would like someone to tell me what I'm missing in my thoughts .. the XDA works fine, but the brain that owns it is still defective ...

Have you tried phone settings in phone app?

While in phone app, go to Menu/Options. In phone tab, there is a "keypad" field. Make sure it is either short tones or long tones. Mine is the first one.

By accident you've gotten the whole rom. On a G4 only the OS won't flash the "normal" way on a CID-locked phone.... you've replaced it with shelltool, so you've got everything now!

Okay, I found out my problems go well beyond just the DTMF issue. I unlocked my G4 with the UK company, and my wifes as well. I flashed my phone and did not notice several items missing from the ROM. Looking at my wifes phone, hers has all the fancy odds and ends. I used the same ROM file for both phones. Not sure what is going on here. Any ideas why mine did not take?

I did some poking around on my MDA and see if this helps:

Bring up the phone dialer.
Tap Menu.
Tap Options.
See what Keypad: is set to. Mine is set to short tones and that is what it should be for T-Mobile (or so I seem to recall from training... I'd have to check at work on Sunday to be 100% sure).

Hello i was reading this site last night and saw some of you guys had got WM6on the wizard. I tried to install the MUN version last night on my wizard but had no success, it would run through the setup and say it had installed.. but when i boot the phone it would be the old factory o2 rom...

I treid to do a CID unlock this morning according to the loki program it was successfull.

Re tryed the MUN WM6 and still the same. It just keeps loading the old rom up.

What could i have done wrong?

Also when attempting to install the MUN version the 'new image name' is blank on the MUN WM6 setup.

Just now i was going to try faria's rom but the download link is dead???

Just have a look at the first thread "how to flash a wizard rom". Or read a lot before using a cooked rom.

By the way - yes is normal - and it is normal that flashing hangs on 99% for several minutes.

MS Voice Command 1.6 worked on my Cing 8125 without hacks (unlike the 8525). But the incoming phone call announcement feature never worked. Then I upgraded to the Faria Crossbow WM6, and voila, incoming phone call announcements worked!

Could you share how you got incoming call announcement to work--may help solve the problem on other phones running WM6 (like my Excalibur). Thanks

Like we keep on repeating, for ALL G4 Wizard owners with upgrade problems (original OS comes back after upgrade): read the post in the Wizard G4 threads, a special section is made there only for you!!! : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=343

it's there that you will find some solutions (i guess) and it's definitely there that you have to ask for help to upgrade a G4! (using shelltool)

If you have a G3 wizard, and you still get the old OS after unlocking and upgrading, than you will have to DOWNGRADE to Button's 1.05 rom in order to unlock correctly. After this downgrade you can upgrade to for example a 2.26 rom and then upgrade to WM6.

I once copied this info on the forum here, it can probably help you too:

1. How to tell if your device is G3 or G4

G3 is the older version, G4 is the newer version. There is a change in the hardware. To see what you've got:

Soft-reset your device
In the bootloader screen, you'll see the versions of IPL, SPL, GSM(Radio) and OS.
Look at the IPL and SPL Versions.

G3 Wizard:

IPL: 1.xx or 2.xx or 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has TWO 0's.)

SPL: 1.xx or 2.xx or 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has TWO 0's.)

G4 Wizard

IPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has THREE 0's.)

SPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has THREE 0's.)

2. What does this mean?

Your Phone may have a SIM-Lock (you can only use it with a SIM of your original Provider) and a CID-Lock (you may only install ROMs that are released by your provider).

As we are talking about flashing the Wizard (= installing a new rom), we have to remove the CID-Lock.

With a G4-Wizard, your are unable to remove the CID-Lock without paying money at www.imei-check.co.uk. Currently there is no known solution to CID-unlock a G4 Wizard using free programs. There is a high chance of turning your device permanently unusable (="bricking" it) if you try the freeware meant to unlock the G3 on a G4.

A G3 Wizard however can be CID unlocked using tools like aWizard, lokiwiz and such. Go browse xda-developers.com if you are owning a G3 and want to CID-unlock it

IMPORTANT:

Even if you successfully CID-unlocked your G4 you can't install every ROM that is available. As far as i understand, with a G4 device you can never flash the IPL / SPL parts of your rom. If you try to install a full rom (= IPL / SPL, OS and Radio included), you may brick your device.

You have to download Roms that are specifically made for G4-Wizards (=without IPL / SPL)

or

install Roms from your Provider

or

uncook a G3-Rom, remove the IPL / SPL Stuff an rebuild ("cook") the Rom just with radio and os parts. This is advanced stuff, i wouldnt't recommed it if you never even flashed your device before. Read all the threads on xda-developers.com about cooking your own rom before even trying.



As the rom in this thread doesn't contain an IPL/SPL part, it should work on G3 and G4 wizards.

Again, read xda-developers.com to learn how to flash your device.

- Downgrade to button's 1.05 ROM
- Reset and watch the IPL/SPL to make sure both are 1.xx
- Verify your phone is unlocked with lokiwiz app

I know what I have, the way to tell on my wifes does not yield enough info. I have read the thread over and over, and read the G4 forum as well. I am pretty competent around computers, and I spent a lot of time studying before I did this. The problem is, even the Shell tool is not working. I am not getting my old ROM back, I am getting the WM6. I am just not getting the extended rom, the one that allows little things like DTMF tones so my voicemail works (and yes, I tried everything mentioned here to get that working). My wife and I got our phones from the same place at the time. Not sure how they ended up different......

I know what I have, the way to tell on my wifes does not yield enough info. I have read the thread over and over, and read the G4 forum as well. I am pretty competent around computers, and I spent a lot of time studying before I did this. The problem is, even the Shell tool is not working. I am not getting my old ROM back, I am getting the WM6. I am just not getting the extended rom, the one that allows little things like DTMF tones so my voicemail works (and yes, I tried everything mentioned here to get that working). My wife and I got our phones from the same place at the time. Not sure how they ended up different......
Was not ment for you only, no offence...I understand it's harder to get it work, just because you have a 'newer' phone...

take a look at HTweakC (http://www.fit4cat.de), I think it has an option to set the DTMF settings in the registry. Most of the tweaks used can be found here and can thus be applied manually...I'll take a look to see if it's possible to upload the cab's from the extended rom. that way you can apply them yourself..

Went to the Wiki did the reg tricks and changed the MMS settings to the right ones for T-mobile but still no luck on it working. I still get the system administrator saying the message was delievered and my mms still doesnt work. Am I missing something? Thx guys.

I did look at the Reg Wiz. Helped my problem. I found that my settings weren't correct I had the wrong numbers and simply switched them and it worked. Also, I found that you have to disable the delivery notication in the messaging settings. however, does anybody have any suggestions on the MMS settings. Read the Wiki and the Reg Wiz, put in the settings for T-mobile but when i try to send a message to myself or others it times out, thx guys

But i then tried to put the T-mobile2.26 rom on as it states to do so down the 'flash wizard' page. You apparently haven't followed the directions completely or missed seeing an error when you ran lokiwiz. Based on your description, you are still CID Locked. I assume this is a G3 wizard since you are doing the steps you are doing. If its a G4, you are lucky you haven't bricked your phone.

Go back and follow EVERY STEP (every single line... don't skip anything) of this guide:

If something doesn't work, or you get an error then stop and post in that thread (not this one) on what problem you are having.

It means that it is cleaner, that is no 3rd party software will most likely be added however it may contain some reg. hacks.
This is what clean ( vanilla ) versions are about.
I feel you should not wait for this version unless you are familiar with implementing reg hacks, installing softwares onto your PDA There are plenty of already customized roms out there why don t you try Farias already released version? That is considered to be the best at this moment, you can find download link in the first and second post of this thread. But you ought to read a lot before upgrading your device

You're a wizard for the wizard: this rom is, by far, the best one i've ever seen.

Now, let's keep on with the magic: i was experiencing since about one month serious problems to the display (with other WM6). Actually, i had thought i cooked some components, since i've been running for a while at 300+ MHz knowing that the omap was Temperature protected.

After installing your version, the problem has disappeared! well, at least it looks like but i need some more testing....

Apart from this, this ROM is nice and smooth.

If you don't have a MMS setting in Messaging and you used SPB Backup to restore any settings or email, that is the reason.

I just used it to restore my emails before restoring email there was a MMS setting, after there was none. This also happens if you restore system settings. On a side note when I tried to restore my PIM data with SPB Backup Contacts wouldn't start afterwards.

Moral of the story, start over from scratch.

copy the old contacts backup app to the rom [ my documents]....reboot...now run it, you can restore the old format backups now.;)

after that backup with the new one...and you set for the future.

does anyone have the cab file for the older version? specifically one that reads .csv files (like the one in molski's 2.26 rom), not .csc like the one in this rom.

To fix the problem what I did was factory reset:

Hold your Comm Manager button + Voice Command button, and while holding them, press the Reset button then release it. (Keep holding the Comm Manager button + Voice Command buttons still though) when you see a black screen saying "Press Send button to restore factory default, Other keys to quit", release the Comm Manager button + Voice Command buttons, and press the "Talk" button (also called "Send" button). It will tell you its Formatting partition then the phone will reboot... that should fix the problem.

I got one Wizard to go through the update completely, but i'm doing another and i'm stuck... These are the specs:
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.18.0.0

While i was doing the update on the phone i came to the point for the phone to reboot, and when i did, it was stuck at the screen showing me my IPL, SPL version etc. What do i do now? Bare in mind too, the OS version before the update was not 2.18.0.0, it was 2.10 something or the other... Anyone have any suggestions?

I have waited till I was finished reading ALL 40 or so new pages since my last post to post this and someone beats me to the punch [grin].

I too, am experiencing phone not ringing at least once (just like 3.2 rom) along with:
a. phone has locked up twice. Once I could not hang up. Once FREAKIN alarmclock (ver .04) was ringing for 2 hours (don't ask how I didn't hear it). Both times no buttons or keypad would respond. Forgot to try reset (don't use stylus much) and pulled the battery.
b. In the middle of a conversation, the call dropped.

I am going to attempt flashing with Tmobile official rom and then back here to see what happens, as my base has always been the Cingular official. Most people here it seems have IPL/SPL at 2.26 instead of 2.25. I'll probably also change radio from 2.25 to 2.19 as well.

Faria or anyone, could the pre-custom flash be a cause (2.25 instead of 2.26)?

This rom is both fast and stable. The mod and app included are perfect!!

However, one small problem I have is that the Jabra BT320S cannot be found in the BT. I have tried many times..... soft reset...etc.
Can you suggest a workaround?

(I used to use Molski 2.26, the BT works fine in that rom.)


p.s. Is it possible to use the tytn camera sofware in wizard? 'coz the stitching capability and the interface are very nice.

did you try to change the Regional Settings (Start -> Settings -> System -> Regional Settings).
If that doensn't help you can try with the application 'Registry Wizard'. If you still can't find it, I can look up the registry settings...

Love Farias ROM... nice, quick and stable...

However,

I cannot get it to sync correctly with Vista!?!? It works once, but only when you sync manually from active sync on the Wizard. But after the first sync, it subsequently trys to go through the syncing process (when connected), but doesn't actually sync anything!

It also seems to reset the time/date (back to February, 2007)!

Syncing works fine with Muns ROM - but I prefer Faria's ROM.

Any suggestions?

PS It's my new work PC, so just using XP isn't an option!

for some reason, after flashing Faria's ROM using ShellTool on my CID-locked G4, the original O2's customization cab runs and installs all kinds of crap on my phone, changes the wallpaper to the original one, and reboots. when the phone starts again it gives me an error which says that sddaemon could not be started.
what do I need to do? I flashed MB, underground and Mun_Rus and never had that kind of problem. I tried to hard reset and to flash again, twice, but it's always the same.
any advice, guys?

BTW, before flashing faria's ROM I flashed O2's latest ROM using bootloader method. any connection between that and my problem?

This ROM is Stable, no hangs runs perfectly and I didn’t notice any problem yet, I’ve been using it for about 1 week and I didn’t notice any problem.

This is another thing I'm trying to do. I have an unlocked t-mobile mda and I'm trying to put the Cingular 8125 ROM onto it. All hardware is the same for the Cingular 8125 and T-mobile MDA.

I tried downloading the Cingular ROM from the HTC Wizard manufacturer site but I get and Error [296]: Upgrade Only. This NBF file cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please get newer NBF file.

Any help would be appreciated.

So do I. I have been waiting for Faria s vanilla wm6 since it was announced with the customized version.
I have got wm6 MB for a month or so and just cant wait to switch to the vanilla version. So far I have been strong enough and have not tried any other vanilla version yet but I do not know how strong I can be so it would be great if we knew when it is planned to be released.
Hopefully it will not take long and we all can enjoy Farias latest masterpiece with no customization.

You must make sure that you have the phone unlocked before you do anything. I would suggest that you read Dr. P's guide it is a sticky under the upgrading forum. You are also going to need to check as to whether you have a G3 or G4. Before you do major harm to a very expensive device spend some time and read. In the end it is worth it.

You need to follow the unlock instructions, and flashing instructions exactly--that is why they are there, so you can read them, and do them. ;) You don't have too, of course, but you will have a really expensive piece of plastic AKA, "a brick".

Nothing personal, just some advise..... read, read and read some more. One should read the threads here for a few weeks to gain knowledge before flashing a custom ROM. First reason is that you stand a better chance of not doing something stupid that might brick your device. Second is that you might not be asking the same questions that are asked time after time by people too lazy to read.

And flashing custom ROM's isn't for everyone.

To answer your question, yes you must unlock.

Any further questions you seriously risk getting badly burned (ie FLAMED)

Take some time to read on the forum. Dont be so ambigous. If you have identified a problem take time to analyse it and try to repair it your self. If you cant describe excatly what is happenning with your device and what you did trying to repair it. Then and only then you will recieve feedback and perhaps if someone else has the same problem you should get an answer.

First: Wow, this is the best wm6 update so far. Snappy, no noticeable battery drain, my sensible sudoku works, and the start screen layout is art.

Second: I chose USA T-Mobile from configuration, and my web browsing is broken. When I try to go to a url, I get "Connectin to T-Mobile GPRS...", then I get "Dialed: The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them, tap settings". When I go to Settings, I do find T-Mobile GPRS as one of the existing connections, when I edit , I see Celluar GPRS, and for Access Point Name: internet3.voicestream.com, next screen has blank fields for user name and password.

Do I need to enter any furthe rinformation to make it work? I reflashed just to be sure, and no difference.

Personally on WM6, I've found the TMobile 2.19 UK Radio to be the most reliable. Unfortunately it does not have the best reception and is slower to acquire the signal than newer Radios. But I need a stable Radio and not missing calls and SMS messages so I stick with this one (for now).

What Radio (GSM) are you on? Personally I've had trouble with 2.25 and above. For WM6 I always flash the TMobile 2.19 UK radio. I ran with the Cingular 2.25 for a day and had issues like you described. Also tried the 2.61 (on WM6 MBE) and withn a few hours had multiple missed SMS messages and 2 missed phone calls.

Well, I can strengthen your 2.25 theory because I'm also running the 2.25.11 Cingular radio.

Nope. I live in Colorado and it works fine for me and there are lots of others here using this radio all over the world. Its only called 2.19 UK since it comes from the UK TMobile website (just like the TMobile 2.26 is US version but works elsewhere for a good clean base rom).

There is a thread where they are trying to find out why the newer roms don't work well with WM6. Faria has been busy cooking, but hopefully will be providing assistance there as they want to use the AKU 3.3 comm stack plug in and make the newer ones (like 2.61) work better with WM6 (2.61 worked great on my stock Cingular 2.25 ROM and on Faria's AKU 3.3).

Let it error out on your PC before you disconnect, but it sounds like communication was lost between your phone and your PC since the percentages don't match.

More than likely your phone will reboot back to the bootloader (Rainbow) screen. Just try reflashing, or go grab an official ROM like the TMobile 2.26 and flash it. Yes, Activesync will not connect, but you will be able to still flash it in the bootloader mode.

BTW, when I said the app was at 50% proc usage, that's a fluke. What I didn't realize is that that's windows way of telling me it's maxing out one of my processors. So, yeah, it's really @ 100%. Most definitely frozen, wouldn't you say?

I successfully reflashed the tmobile base rom. I was seriously nervous that I had bricked my wizard, partially due to my bad experiences with reflashing a pda before, *cough* toshiba e570 *cough*. Anyway, thanks for the advice.

One more thing, the updater for this rom (farias WM6) is now telling me to get an updated updater. This is probably a bad sign, right?

Glad you got it flashed... Yes, it can be very scary when things don't go quite right...

As for it telling you to get an updated updater, it means you aren't CID Unlocked. If you have a G3 then read and follow this EXACTLY (don't skip steps, and do EVERYTHING):

If it was unlocked before and you have never went back to a 1.xx rom, then it should still be unlocked. But based on the message you stated, it sounds like its CID Locked to me (CID Locked is different than SIM Locked)

As long as you stay on WiFi you won't be charged. But if Wifi drops, the phone can switch to GPRS . You can load this cab and then turn off the other data capabilities to avoid this from happening.

FYI, the 8125 does not have GPS built in. If you have an external GPS, yes, there are plenty of GPS apps for the 8125.

WOW i must say this ROM rocks ! ! !

my only issue was getting MMS to work again, once that was fixed ive been good to go. i have tried any other ROMs but i think im gonna stick with this one.

Frankly, getting MMS to work should not be considered an issue with any of the WM6 ROMs...

After all, non of the ROMs are actually announced to be linked to any particular provider...

My suggestion is, for all guys who have moved on to WM6 of any chef to keep an eye on ALL WM6 ROM threads not just their particular choice of ROM thread. I am using MB edition but I have been watching all the WM6 ROM threads (even in the Hermes, Prophet and Universal forums) and it has been very rewarding and also interesting.

Anybody else having problems keeping your Bluetooth set as the handsfree?

Anytime I go into the phone, the Bluetooth doesn't show anymore.

I have to go to Bluetooth, Settings, Press and Hold my Bluetooth headset until the context menu comes up...then Set as Handfree.

Shouldn't it maybe keep a check mark next to it?

Anyway, I have to do this every few hours. When a call comes in, I need to do that procedure, then jump back to the phone call status..otherwise, handsfree doesn't work.

Note, I never had this issue until running this ROM. My WM5 cooked worked across reboots and always kept my bluetooth headset as the handsfree.

I have the same problem with my handsfree set. Looks like the setting is not remembered. This problem also shows up in the Underground version so I suppose it has something to do with WM6.

I tried to flash my MDA again, and this time i read the text inside the shelltool over and over again..

Now i know what i did wrong..

There are 2 Cabinet files (Cert_SPCS and EnableRapi) that should be copied to youre MDA's root.. After that you should install this trough youre MDA... Otherwise the shelltool can't reach the CIDLOCKED area..

I missed that.. but i can say that it works great..

I really like this ROM and big thanks to faria! I am, however, experiencing huge battery drain. After charging my phone all night, within 2 hours in the morning (2 or 3 calls of 3-5 min. each) the battery was at less than 10 percent! The battery status goes down a point almost every minute. Any suggestions? Will reflashing this ROM help? I don't think it's my battery going bad because this only started happening with WM6. There was no problem with WM5. Thanks

None of the solutions posted here helped with my DTMF issue. If you turn the key tones off in the phone settings, it should still send the tone(this is how my wife likes hers--quiet). What I found out was that the entended ROM had not flashed properly, and that somehow prevented this feature from working. Go to settings->system->device info-> and check the extended ROM. If it is not showing Faria V5.0, then you need to reflash. With mine, the IMEI-check program had not actually unlocked my phone like it was supposed to. I have to downgrade to the wizard love ROM, and re-unlock it, had to do this 2 more times before I got the Faria ROM to load. Hope this helps.

thanks punkcellIs your phone unlocked? Did you take the SD card out? Are you running any other apps on your computer (or surfing) while you are flashing? (don't).

If your answers to the above are all "yes", you might try reflashing 2.26 from TMo and if that works, try flashing Faria's WM6. When it gets to 99% you also need to wait, times vary, sometimes 15 minutes... There is a stickie at the top of the forum with hints too...read it, know it, love it ;)

We should start some sort of initiation in order to access ROM threads... A quiz that one must pass in order to gain access... Might be a big impact to the forum though... Threads and members will need a "ROM" flag and everyone would need to take the quiz... hmm... if the majority of these questions are coming from Junior Members... maybe only have them be required to take the quiz?

#1: battery drain has been an issue for some people it can be fixed with a few of the following cabs:

#2: something about caps lock fix, not sure what it's about but faria has it in his first post (download cab)

Only one problem when i restore backup of my contacts+sms from SBP backup tool, contacts and msn live stops working and i have to clear storage.

How to restore my contacts and sms backup now ? from my last working backup (working in old version of ROMs)

I am running 2.47 on mine, works with DTMF. With a G4 you really need to be careful not to flash a ROM that has a bootloader in it, otherwise brick-o-rama.

I am trying my hardest to not be a n00b, so I have search this entire thread and not found anything that relates to my problem. I cannot seem to find the overclocking feature. I've read that it is in battery status. So I assume that means on the Today screen you just click on the line that has the battery status and clock speed displayed. When I do this nothing happens it bolds that line but it won't pull up any additional application.

I thought I could just launch omapclock drirectly, but when I did a search for it via TotalCom it just found 2 hits. One was a DLL and one was a .lnk file in Windows. When I tried to run the .lnk it gave me an error something about cannot find file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just tap and hold over Battery Status section on Today screen. You'll get a menu. The options is the one to go. You'll find OMAP settings in one of the tabs.

An alternative way (and a little more complicated) is to go to Settings/Personal/Today, choose "items" tab, mark "Battery Status" and click the Options button on the right.

To be a little more precise, you have to tap and hold the little icon on the left of the batterystatus line (looks like a battery or a power plug) That will bring up the menu and allow you to choose options (or other things).

To be a little more precise, you have to tap and hold the little icon on the left of the batterystatus line (looks like a battery or a power plug) That will bring up the menu and allow you to choose options (or other things).

I just wanted to put in my 2 cents about this rom.

It is awesome, and so far without a doubt, the best Windows Mobile 6 ROM I have seen.

Although I did experience the first-boot lockup Faria mentioned, after soft resetting it once, I was able to get into WM6. Since then, I have not needed to reset (Hard of Soft) even once. Previously I was running Molski's 2.26 Final WM5, and while that ROM was also great, I did find myself soft resetting at least 2 times a day.

The speed of this ROM is unmatched by any other WM6 ROM out there, in my opinion.

I also wanted to provide an external link to the patches / tweaks that I have installed, which compliment the ROM very well.

I'm experience hard time synchronizing with the calendar, I've office 2003, no problems with the contacts, however, with the calendar it gets stuck and have to hard-reset :(

Scratch the last post!

After 10hrs of messing around trying to cure my calendar activesync problem and then unable to make calendar entries after 24 March 2007, I finally found out I could have cured it in 10 seconds, simply by:-

1) go to Clocks & Alarms in system settings
2) Change to any other time setting and OK it
3) Change back to GMT and OK it

I realised it was this by re-flashing back to Farias Aku3.3 and getting the same result except that it popped up with the error message about DST instead of just not entering the calender entry.

Oh well, I've learnt a hell of a lot more in the process.

Hopefully it'll work for you as well.

Hello,

While searching for a solution to this (because I'm also using USSD) I found that you can use the following program (ussd.exe) found on an other thread :

Put it on you phone and launch it. You should now have USSD working until you close ussd.exe or you reset your phone. It is actually a workaround because the original service has been deleted from the ROM. Maybe there is a way to copy it from an other release but I didn't try (The file should be called USSD_Dll.dll and the service REG is in HKLM/Services/USSD)

Is your phone unlocked? Did you take the SD card out? Are you running any other apps on your computer (or surfing) while you are flashing? (don't).

If your answers to the above are all "yes", you might try reflashing 2.26 from TMo and if that works, try flashing Faria's WM6. When it gets to 99% you also need to wait, times vary, sometimes 15 minutes... There is a stickie at the top of the forum with hints too...read it, know it, love it ;)

Sorry I'm not on this rom anymore but that issue may actually be due to Smartskey running. If you modify the Smartskey.ini file to turn off the d-pad function then I think you can use the d-pad to scroll. Most of the custom roms have Smartskey installed (FANTASTIC app!)

I had some time tonight to try a couple of things and check some settings. I do have the keytones set to soft. I tried both strings available.. no luck. I have a g4 2.26.001, radio 2.25.11,rom 2.18.0.0. I paid the $ to have it unlocked via imei check. After checking start-settings-device info for ext rom mine says 2.26.10.105. The previous post states it should save Faria V5. Maybe this is my issue? I have tried to downgrade to the Tmobile 2.19 radio only but i get "you need a newer updater for your phone message". I have ran the imei unlock again and still it wont take the older radio. Any ideas? DTMF still not working for me and its annoying.

Okay, sounds like you are having the same problem I did. This has nothing to do with your radio, so do not worry about that yet. Flash back to the Wazard Love ROM( NOT THE T MOBILE ONE) And re run the unlock program from IMEI-check( I hope you saved the unlock number). Once that is done and you are running wzard love, flash the Faria ROM again. Then check your extended ROM and make the that is says Faria V5.0. Once that is done, worry about your radio.

The problem seems to be the IMEI unlock does not alway take the first time around.

Sorry I'm not on this rom anymore but that issue may actually be due to Smartskey running. If you modify the Smartskey.ini file to turn off the d-pad function then I think you can use the d-pad to scroll. Most of the custom roms have Smartskey installed (FANTASTIC app!)

Removing the SD card is one of those things. Flashing TMo 2.26 (NOT FOR G4s) before flashing a "new" ROM also reduces the potential for screw ups (some of the cooked ROMs don't always do a great job of setting a basline or resetting the phone to its defaults).

What radio version are you running? anything above 2.19 will not auto reconnect to GPRS when signal drops with WM6 there is a thread in Wizard upgarding on this and some people are working on a fix.

As far as the power savings cab, I did not create it, so I cannot say for sure exactly what it does. All I know is that running it seems to make my phone's battery drain slower.

The Comm Manager is not required, I just run it for a better look.

Ok, Outlook 2003 did not solved problem. When I was doing another sync I had the same problem (with contacts, calendar was ok) again. This time
Start > Settings > Connections > Usb to Pc > Disable advanced network functionality
Now, I can connect and disconnect the wizard and AS always connects and syncs well.

this is the problem with wm6 roms ,....from factory they have less that 2 mb of free space.....compared to 16-18mb in my aku3.voip alone is almost 2mb!

this is why also that carriers are removing ; voip,remote desktop etc from crossbow roms.....because ther is no space left!

windows update is in....allthougth i belive that this one will never be supported in the wizard from microsoft side.

The BlueNeonSwirl.tsk is different in that it uses a different image for the start menu and also creates a striped background in Messaging and Contacts.

I've been playing around w/ ThemeGen for the past few hours and can't seem to duplicate the background (unstriped) gradient in Messaging and Contacts. The best I could do is change the start menu background.

Do you mean "caps lock fix" ? After installing and even rebooting it did not changed anything.

Maybe this patch do the same, but adding this value manually fixed problem.

What for is SAPsettings.exe? I searched and found that it is used to access my wizard's gsm module by some other devices (for eg. installed in cars), isn't it?

This is the first custom ROM that has actually been able to connect to my home network. (and hold the connection long enough to get an IP)

However, I cannot browse the internet with Internet Explorer. I get "Locating..." and then nothing. Opera works fine.

Is it possible that a registry setting can be causing this?

I am not having any issues with missed calls or MMS notifications, but I do experience long delays in obtaining a signal and also very poor reception in areas where Cingular typically has very strong service (Philadelphia area). My signal seems to be at its worst while driving above 40mph.

With all prior WM5 roms, I used Cingular's 2.25 Radio.

I have seen a lot of posts going back and forth regarding the newer 2.61 Radio missing calls and MMS notifications. I was wondering if there have been any advancements with this Radio, or if it is still more trouble then it's worth.

What seems to work for me is to go to comm manager, and enable bluetooth, then wifi, then disable bluetooth. Then WiFi is working again.

In conncections, use T-Mobile GPRS as the connection!

(I called the tech support people at T-Mo and that's what they had me do... it worked.

Nice rom :) , love the looks & I'd love to use it, but all date fields are completely mixed up on my device with this rom. Can't use it at all! :(

5/Oct/75 becomes something like Aug/23/73, when doing an initial active synch/download to the Wizard, or alternatively active synch refuses to synch contacts with birthdays or anniversaries at all. (Calendar takes forever, so I just don't even try) - all date fields affected & clock seemed to behave a little instable as well (not verified). Tried to switch back to previous roms and it works again, so I'd guess it's the rom (and not active synch 4.5 nor outlook 2003 on my Win XP).

Tried with installing an older t-mobile rom as a basis for faria rom instead of 2.26, same story.

:confused: Anybody else with the same experience, answer or another thread that you could point me to? - I have not been lucky to find one...

Nice rom :) , love the looks & I'd love to use it, but all date fields are completely mixed up on my device with this rom. Can't use it at all! :(

5/Oct/75 becomes something like Aug/23/73, when doing an initial active synch/download to the Wizard, or alternatively active synch refuses to synch contacts with birthdays or anniversaries at all. (Calendar takes forever, so I just don't even try) - all date fields affected & clock seemed to behave a little instable as well (not verified). Tried to switch back to previous roms and it works again, so I'd guess it's the rom (and not active synch 4.5 nor outlook 2003 on my Win XP).

Tried with installing an older t-mobile rom as a basis for faria rom instead of 2.26, same story.

:confused: Anybody else with the same experience, answer or another thread that you could point me to? - I have not been lucky to find one...

Ya, All you have to do is change the time to a different time zone, then change it back and it should sort its self out with your calanda!

Have the same setup (AS 4.5, Outlook 2003) as you but w/o the problems... One thing I would suggest is setup your regional settings and set your Home & Visiting Times to the same time zone prior to syncing... Turning off Time synchro and Auto change time zone and clock might also make a difference...

I think the time was still weird after syncing once but they went back to normal right after a reset...

Doubt the BT stack could be changed by flashing but I'm no dev... One thing for certain though, is that Faria is going to be re-releasing this rom w/ the 3.3 BT stack...

Yes. I hope he does. I have heard better things about BT Stack in 3.3 and compatibity with various Headsets.

Best would have been some cab or something which could replace the WM6 BT with 3.3

Or, I guess I would have to wait for Faria RRT Version :-(

completely agree with cab version if its posible, and i think it is. cuz im abit tired of this reflashing stuff, im using wm6 ~4 month and i want it stay that way, except for radio rom.

I now finally have my Jabra 620's (A2DP stereo) working perfectly with Farria's otherwiae great WM6 ROM. The only ROM they have worked with was Faria's 3.3.0.0.
So I went to the effort of swapping back to it , I wrote down the Registry settings and then flashed back to His WM 6.0 - 2.18.0.0 WWE
Changed the settings to look like this and bingo 'All is well again' :

Note: For those who don't know '0x<some number>' means hex value.

yep this is mono:)) but there's no distortions on high freqs with jointstereo . conclusions: better quality then before, but still alot worse then with pc toshiba stack, and now it's mono. changes always good. anyway good job duncan, but i still cant switch from wired headphones.

This is probably a question for Faria not my self, but
vcpthag.dll is the default reg setting in WM6
BTAGExtModule vcpthag.dll REG_SZ (default in WM6)

OEMAGW.dll is the .dll in Faria's 3.3.0.0
BTAGExtModule OEMAGW.dll REG_SZ (So don't use this setting in your WM6 ROM as I suspect this .dll file will not be in the WM6 ROM.)

I think the sound quality is exelent with my JABRA BT620's now. And no pauses (at last).
I also have to say that to get my JABRA BT620's faria suggested I try different bitpool values. And I didn't try 0x1e with the WM6 basic registry settings.
So this might have worked for me I guess.
I just put all of the settings in the WM6 registry that were in his 3.3.0.0 ROM.

I moved to this ROM from the Underground WM6 release. Is there a reason I can no longer search my company's GAL for contacts? In older versions of WM6 (incl. beta) I could start typing a name in the search box in Contacts and if it didn't find anything, I'd have an option to search my company's Exchange server. This option does not exist on my phone now. Has this been disabled or am I missing something?

I need assistance. All of a sudden I can not sync with AS 4.5 because the phone is not visible to the computer. I go to My Computer, click Mobile Phone and nothing shows.

I go to Device Manager and it shows that the phone is connected to the USB port (shows as a Windows CE device).

All my other USB devices work properly. This includes the printer, external hd, bluetooth dongle, mouse bluetooth dongle, usb hub, etc....

Any one know a fix to this?
