GPRS worked straight away for me after installing this ROM. Did you select the right provider when you setup your phone? You can rerun that (to verify) by going to Start > Programs > Accessories > Operator cfg (The phone will have to do a soft reset after this runs).

I have Cingular with an MDA (unlocked); I selected the right provider, checked all my settings... the "G" or "E" icons do not even appear; i just have two arrows and an "x"

The two arrows and the "X" means your Wi-fi is on, but cant find any wifi or hotspot connection. Go to comm manager and turn of the wifi.

here is a silly question.
Go into your comm manager and see if your Phone icon is on or off. (look to see if it has an X on it). If it is on, turn it off.. wait a minute... then turn it back on and see if that helps. Sounds like your phone is stuck in flight mode.

Wifi was off at the time - I made sure it was. I rebooted the phone multiple times with no avail... :(

VanFanel,
Yes, I had the same problem with Faria's AKU3.3 rom. I'm using Tmobile and for some reason, nothing would allow it to reconnect to GPRS after about 1 day of use. Tried soft reseting, pulling the battery, disabling wifi, disabling and re-enabling the phone, making new connections profiles, disabling push, disabling activesync OTA, etc. You name it, I looked into it. I did a hard reset on the phone and it worked again for about a day and then just refused to connect again. Finally, I just installed the MB WM6 rom and everything has worked for the past week or so. The GPRS connection did pop up with an X for about 1/2 a day, but I have a feeling that was actually caused by Tmobile's network being down or unreachable in the area (thunderstorms), because GPRS was connected again in the morning. I never did figure out what exactly was wrong but I feel your frustration.

Yessir did that - nothing.
Doc_lee - excatly but i did not even have connection period. The funny thing I tried the mUn WM6 ROM and that worked just dandy, then I upgraded to Farias - and no dice, then I downloaded to Farias AKU 3.3 and it works just dandy.
Blah - I'll wait for the next revision :(

I know why!
If you use "registry Wizard" you need to reenter your password, which is "tmobile" for your internet gprs connection.

Not sure what you are talking about. I don't see any option for a GPRS password within "Registry Wizard". Can you clarify or provide a screen cap?

Hey, I was experiencing the same problem with my orwells rom. I tried something but it's only been tested for one day...so far i have not experienced a drop out in my gprs connection like before (same as urs). create a new gprs connection with the exact same information as your previous one, just name it differently. go to settings-connections-add a new modem connection-put the same info as your current gprs settings - in "enter name for connection" put a different name.then under advanced- select networks select that "connection" as "program that automatically connect to the internet" then reset ur fone and see how it goes...just make sure u name ur connection differently compared to the old one - like creating a whole new different connection, only with the same gprs info

So let me get it straight - you also had the "two arrows and x" icon instead of the big G/E for the GPRS connection, then you tried a brand new connection and it worked fine?

I think that you are on the right path here. I had this problem before. When I used Registry Wizard for the FIRST time, I lost GPRS (e.g., after a soft reset). (It might have happened again as well but the steps below fixed it for me.) So, what I did was to make sure that the following items in Registry Wizard were unchecked:
- GPRS always on
- GPRS always off
Then what I did was go into Settings > Connections > Connections > Manage Existing Connections
Then I selected and edited the GPRS setting. Many times, if you had an issue, there was nothing populated in the "Number" field prior to editing. So, when you edit, just go through the screens. You don't need to change anything (unless you have the wrong settings for your carrier). Then when you save the setting, you should have something populated in the "number" field (e.g., I have "wap.voicestream.com"). After that, you should be able to connect to your GPRS. (You can click/hold and select connect from that screen.)
Let me know if that works!

yes I used to have "2 arrows and x" icon instead of G.I would soft reset and it would work fine for a few mins then it would go back. I created a new connection with the exact same settings as the one i use and selected it as my connection as "program that automatically connect to the internet" soft reset and voila. It has been 2 days and i have not lost my gprs icon yet (it is important for me because i use gprs to get my office emal via activesync) try it and let me know if it works for u..

Try flashing the new faria wm6 rom (with regards from faria) thread..
When I first flashed 'the real thing' I would intermittently lose my GPRS connection as well (would come back after a while with a soft-reset).. The newest rom does not seem to have the same problem (for whatever reason), as I have not lost my G/E any at all!

I must say I have similar issue, but it happend diferent way.
After flashing to The Real Thing gprs worked fine for about 2 months from flashing. G or E icon should appear even where is no carrier set in connection for it.
2 weeks back I wanted to send MMS and it happend that my phone crashed, I mean suspended. There were no reaction on buttons, so I did soft reset with the hidden button. After that my G or E icon never appeared
I didn`t changed the ROM so far, i tried only with the radio from 2.69 to 2.19, but it also didn`t helped.
When I started to think it is a provider problem, I called and they say nothing changed. I also put into Wizard SIM of my friend of differet provider and the icons also was not showing
So you see for me it is not the problem of connection settings because I was not changing anything.
Hard Reset also did not changed anything, just "arrows with the x"
Do you think my phone get corrupted somehow :(
I will try to change ROM for different one if it may help with this, but I was very happy with The Real Thing and would really like to stay with it :(

Seems similar to my problem.
After running mfrazzz' XDA 3 for a few months, the G icon suddenly turned to the x.
A soft reset brings it back, but only for a period of about 4 hours.
I was on radio 2.61. Switched it back to 2.19, but it just got worse.
Today flashed the damned thing to the latest TNT, with radio 2.61; but it seems the problem is still there.
I strongly begin to believe my provider is the cause of this, and not the wizard.
Update: 2.61 seemed to drain the battery with this rom, switched to 2.19. Wether battry life is better, don't know yet.
The problem with gprs however hasn't gone...
