You only can use one at a time, you have a STK application to switch between SIMs, you have to cut the SIMs to put them inside the adapter.

where I can get it?
search in eBay

The problem with these dual SIM adaptors is that none so far are really made for 3G SIM cards. I know some 3G SIM cards work. Can people state where and what network they are on???
I personally was looking for one that you dont have to cut the SIMs... The Trinity seems to have a bit of space between and the phone so one fits easily. I dont mind if they dont have the STK application or if I have to switch the phone off each time to switch SIM...
Is anyone aware of any?

I'm using the same ANALOG-Dual-SIM-Adapter from Hot-Wire-Telekom with my Trinity!
You switch between SIM's by using the HTC-Comm-Application (switching Flight-mode ON/OFF)

Procedure: Switch Flight-Mode ON - wait 10-15 seconds - Switch Flight-Mode OFF

Works like a charm, but once in a while I get a SIM-error, but after repeating the switching-procedure everything works fine again. So no problem at all.

Highly recommended!
Also be aware of the fact that DIGITAL adapters (switch via SIM-Application-Tool) WONT work with UMTS-SIM's!!!!
Took me a long time (and 30 bucks) to realize this.

My Analog-adapter works fine so far with Hutchinson 3G Austria ("THREE" is an UMTS-only Provider) and Telering Austria (GSM-Only Provider).

Thanks for the info but you have to cut SIMs from:
http://www.hot-wire-telekom.de/index.php?aktion=detail&suche=alle%20Handys&asuche=HW130010&uid=24e81e5fcfb3c8f97a3e4817e4a6330d
Is there a non-cut solution? I have cut in the past just would prefer not to :)
Plus must be a tight fit the Dual Sim Adaptor in the Trinity SIM slot... isnt it?

Is there a non-cut solution?Only possible non-cut solution is sim emulator. Silvercard (SIMEmu 6.16i firmware) based one works perfectly on all my devices.
It supports up to 10 (or even more - don't remember) sim's and sized as an ordinary sim card. Silvercard itself is priced about 10$.
That were advantages. Drawbacks are:
You need a smartcard programmer (priced ~50$ but if you have some electronics and soldering experience you can diy in a hour).
3G SIMs are not supported at all.
Some 2G SIMs could not be copied to emulator too.

Hi,

I use the 12th generation Digital dual sim card adaptor which works like a charm (with a 3G & 2G sim cards with cutting) but the only thing is that it drains the battery.

I this german analog dual sim adaptor supporting the 3G?

Is there any other producers or any links?

Thanks

I've used the digital dual sim card adaptor (12th generation) which drains a lot of battery.

I purchased from freeyourmobile.com the power on/off dual sim card holder which works great with 3G cards. The battery does not drain any longer!!

This is a solution where u have to cut the original sims of course

Wow, I am very happy

Hi guys...

I'm about to get a Trinity PDA and was wondering if it was possible to use a twin-sim adapter on it, this is how I came across your forum.

If I believe what I read it works fine, I was just wondering if the only way to operate it was to switch on and off the flight mode, or if a piece of software such as SimSwitcher (http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=19046) could help.

Thanks for answering ;)

No need to power off/on the HTC. Flight mode off/on is enough to change the network. You can also use sim switcher which works great.!!! No battery drain anymore!!!

Hello, recently I have bought of www.freeyormobile.com New Power on/off stardand dual sim.

I am very happy, since it works very well and it does not consume much battery.

Yet, I can differentiate in the TODAY when I use one or another SIM?

How I do it?

Hi I bought the sim adaptor from freeyourmobile.com suggested above and it doesnt work for my Trinity. I keep on getting an invalid sim error. In the mean time I have butchered my sims which thank God still work individually.
The sim adaptor works fine with an old smartphone (Typhoon) but not with my Trinity. I am not sure if this is because it is not compatible with the device or has to do with the way the sim adaptor sits in the sim socket of Trinity. Did people have to move the sim adaptor around before it worked?
To make things worse freeyourmobile.com dont have a contact number and are only contactable be email...
Would appreciate peoples input...

1) if you put some pressure on the dual sim adaptor (with a piece of paper for example) you will see that it is gonna work, i had the same problem first. if you do not want to put paper, then you have to make some pressure on the dual sim adaptor first, make sure the adaptor gets in contact with both sims inside.

2) sim status switcher can be found in this forum, just make a quick search, one of them works with WM5

I appreciate the advice guys but nothing really worked for me with the freeyoumobile.com adaptor... I had a look at the Hermes forum too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=273387&page=11&highlight=SIM+Status+Switcher
I tried tape, I tried pieces of paper but kept on getting invalid sim error. At the end the adaptor split... So I gave up with 13 pounds down the drain and my sim chopped. Well at least I didnt damage the Trinity!
And I am not new to this sim cutting and twin adaptor game, I had one for my old Magician...
Anyway thought Id share my experiences...

Hmm,

I presume you might have done something wrong. In my case it works perfect, another friend of mine uses the same one without any glitch.

It is either they do not sit well in the adaptor, or yours sims are not co mpatible which I do not think so...

The one I bought is the one which does not drain battery.
All digitals drain battery.

Kyri
23rd April 2007, 12:02 PM
No it worked fine within another smartphone (Typhoon) so its not a sim card incompatibility just didnt sit well within the Trinity.
You get very little control of how to position the dual sim adaptor I guess in the Trinity...
I dont know... anyway thanks for the help.

The “New dual Power on off standard sim” if it works in the Trinity and so that plugin Sim Status Switcher works has to be made the following thing:

In HKLM \ software \ Microsoft \ today \ items \

To copy the KEY of name “Pocket MSN” and to stick it within another KEY any.

To change the name of the KEY copied like “sim status switcher”

To copy the file simstatusswitcher.dll in \ Windows

To go to the KEY created like “sim status switcher” and to modify the name of String DLL to simstatusswitcher.dll

To put the KEY “sim status to directly switcher” in HKLM \ software \ Microsoft \ today \ items \

To make a Softrest

To go to Start/Settings/Today/Items and to mark plugin sim status switcher

To give to ok until arriving at TODAY

Just wanted to let people know that after cutting my SIMs as described in the posts above and failing to get a few dual SIM adaptors to work... I have one that works!!! and you dont have to cut anything!!! I can confirm that it works for the Trinity and Hermes for 3G Orange and 3G T-Mobile UK!!! Its a little bit of a tight fit behind the battery but not much of a problem...
I am sure there are other vendors but I got mine from:

(its the 3rd one down Super Dual Sim Holder (Now 3G compliant))
Hope this helps people,

Thanks, what about the battery consumption?

Is this a digital or an analog adaptor?

It looks like it is a digital adaptor which will then drain battery I think...

Kyri
6th May 2007, 12:01 PM
It is digital but the battery consumption isnt too much of an issue for me personally... I tend to charge my Trinity most evening but if I forget its not the end of the world I can get through a second working day... The dual adaptor didnt demonstrate any noticable difference in battery consumption (I dont have it on auto switch)...
HOWEVER I am afraid there is a problem... After about 2 hours of working fine I started getting an invalid SIM error. More specifically the Trinity can see the T-Mobile SIM (SIM2) but not my Orange one (SIM1). All the tests were initially carried out with the Trinity back cover off so I dont know if this is a problem of the increased pressure once the back cover is back on or related to the Orange SIM. I am wondering if the Orange SIM was the cause of my previous problems with the analog dual SIM adaptor.
Taking the cover off didnt correct the problem and my Orange 3G SIM is OK by itself... SO I am afraid the dual adptor is being returned :(

It logs into the 3G network, however no call or internet-connection is possible.
Only if logged in GSM.

Hello!

I test the dual sim card from HOT WIRE .de but it freeze my minisd card...

I cut the cards followed instructions in the perfection, using the cut pliers that I also bought in Hot Wire.

They even function in the perfection in HSDPA speed, 3.5G, but when I try to explore the the files on the memory card is everything very slow and it delays many minutes to open a file!

I even tested with some cards of memory of high speed, but do some bug in exploring the memory card.

I tested in a HTC P3600 of a friend and makes the same!

I tested with on UMTS and in GSM.

I do a Hard Reset on the PDA, but is the same...

If to remove the Dual Sim Card, functions everything in the perfection!

:(

PS: 6*********** for the SIMTodayCab, is very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i need a card that work on my trinity.

I Have on of these Dualsims and same happened to me, no storage card detected or VERY slow file access. But now it works all fine, with the SAME Dualsim. I can't tell exactly what i did, but it seems to be related to the thickness of the dualsim. try to not apply the metal cover of the card, and use a small piece of thick paper instead of it before inserting the Dualsim. i didn't use the paper, i had another metal cover from my old digital dual-sim (which won't work with UMTS) and this cover is a very very very little bit thinner. If one or boths sims cannot be accessed correctly after this, place one ore more pieces of paper between the inserted Dualsim and the battery, to obtain more pressure to the contacts. This worked for me, and no storage card or SIM errors until now.

While reading this thread, I encounter an advertisement above about MagicSim - a 12thA Generation Dual Sim. As this is available in my country, I purchased this one at approximately US$20 converted from our currency.

It is a digital dual sim operated by STK (Sim Tool Kit). Current Numbers display on HTC Home, but this requires cutting of SIM card. The package however came with a single SIM module KIT where you can convert back to individual SIMs.

The device works flawlessly, and it has an auto switch function to switch between SIMs (drains battery). If you don't use the auto switch function, power is saved. BTW, it supports both 2G and 3G SIM cards.

Sorry for the DualSim noob question, but I wonder how all this works. :o

Will I be able to receive a call on SIM A (prepaid) while using SIM B (broadband 3G)? Or is this Dualsim card thing just a mechanism to avoid swapping SIM cards?

I plan to use my Prepaid SIM and my unlimited data plan 3G SIM at the same time.

If so, which of all the dualsim models you recommend me using? Remember that I need to be able to use my UMTS/HSDPA 3G SIM.

Thanks for your kind help! :D

DualSim 20th A, same problem. Sorry

I read somewhere that you need to make sure the sim cards touch the adaptor - by pressing the adaptor between your fingers or adding some thickness to it

- hope it helps

Nice try, but my provider confirmed HTC Trinity is NOT supported.... nor they have any model that does.
Thanks.

There are any news of a dual sim that works in the P3600 without cut the sim and work in 3g/HSPDA?
The are a new Magicsim 23th (http://www.magicsim.com/en/dual_sim_show.asp?id=50&cp_id=10&sort2name=14), and this (http://www.peloponeso.es/Products.html) the P3600 appears in the list of compatible, any of these works??

Even if it works you must pay attention to more battery consuption... (2 SIM cards consuming power...)

I receive a email from peloponesso say this:

"Hi,
I didn't test with P3600 (but yes with P3300).
You shouldn't actually have any problems concerning batterie
issues. That happened to old models, but not with new ones.
The reading of the MC shouldn't be affected.
regards"

So I think this don´t consuption more battery.

I think it's more important to know if it can handle 3G connections and the compatibility between different SIM types (128K + 256K... 64K + 256K.. etc)... and also I'm doubtful that the trinity can fit 2 sims with no cut..

There (http://www.peloponeso.es/DualSim.html) have the specifications of the dual sim and says it is compatible with 3G.

son many manufacturer says so.. but the direct test is the only way to be sure..
I tried to put a SIM under the battery, out of the normal slot... and I'm not able to close the back cover...

EDIT: I saw the video in the link posted.. if the 2th sim is located upon the battery the back cover can be closed

impossible... the phone must have 2 separeated gsm modules.. and trinity has only 1.. there are specific phones to do this...
