I don't want to make a prediction, but I believe we should watch the HTC Europe site from tomorrow on.
After the official release of the Dopod ROM today, I think our wait is at last over.
Obviously I am reffering to the long overdue WM5 upgrade.
If the Dopod(HTC) version is anything to go by we could have:
AKU 3.3.1
Radio 1.38.00.10
Simon 1219 has reported on the Dopod version today in a seperate thread, but it's release heralds the planned release tomorrow of the WWE version. (Keep everything crossed)
Of course this news will dissapoint the WM6 guys, as the official release for the Hermes will only be made during Q3.

So you do not want make a prediction... but are making one anyways? This sounds high speculative though.

I don't get it,
perhaps tomorrow there will be a WM5 update but in the near future (Q3) there will a WM6 update from HTC? Is that what you are saying?

What I am saying is that an official WM5 must preceed an official WM6 release. What is not known at this stage is if WM6 will be a freebee. But logic tells me that it must as M$ would not be able to control its distribution - like what's happening now with the various beta WM6 ROM's
It's logical - the Dopod upgrade is released and HTC owns Dopod, so the WWE version will follow.
Let's just wait and see if my crystal ball is right or not.

Many happy returns Shamanix!! :D
I emailed HTC a week or so ago (enquiring about SDHC cards, and also when the rom update will be released) they said NOTHING whatsoever about the rom release, which was unusual since they normally say "oh yeah should be soon, in Q1 etc..."
So it is possible, shame we dont see a full WM6 build to base our cooked roms on yet :(
LOL if i hadnt come to xda-devs i would still be running the ORIGINAL htc rom for the hermes, bought my TyTN the week it was released in UK!!!! :s sends shivers down the spine!

Well it looks like HTC has missed another deadline. But here's keeping fingers crossed for early next week. - I did say in my thread to watch out for the upgrade from tomorrow(Friday) on.
Well I guess you all feel as dissapointed as I am!

They covered it under warranty?? When I sent mine in here in the US, they refused to cover it under warranty because of the "foreign" bootloader on it. They wanted $590 to replace the mobo.

To be honest, I haven't received the phone yet. I will let you know if they charge anything. My phone didn't have a foreign bootloader. The phone is an i-mate JASJAM with i-mate's original ROM. The phone got bricked when I tested SSPL with firmware loaded from microSD. (I was trying to load the Arabic ROM.)

At CEBIT in Hannover (been there yesterday), the customer support service at the Vodafone pavilion had an official AKU 3.3. update for Hermes customers. Unfortunately, it was in German - not my favorite language.... They would send me an e-mail with a link for the English version, if available. My guess is that the official relaease is coming soon..as this German version is aparently ready for release.

Well seeing as all Voda ROMs come from Vofafome Germany and the official ROM site is hosted in Germany it's logical we'll see something soon so I can get rid of my HTC test ROM and have some stability to match the speed.

Make sure your phone cant boot then. I did in Denmark, and they fixed it without any notice... I cant remember exactly how I did it - but messing with the rom and deleting here and there finally killed it - and then I just send it back with some hardware failure issues (the Keyboard)
But. Perhaps I was just lucky...;)  :D

Perhaps related, but I received an email from Vodafone IE on Friday saying they had just received a new batch of their V1605 branded Hermes with a new ROM (no idea if WM5 or WM6 as the person I was talking to didn't know)
A couple of weeks ago I had to send back my unit to them after getting terrible screen alignment issues and they said they wouldn't issue a replacement until the new batch arrived.
I believe they sent it out on Friday which means I will get it on Tuesday (Monday is a Bank Holiday in Ireland due to St Patrick's Day) so will post info of what ever ROM is on it.

Dear Basilrsa,
I hope that you have already installed the new WWE WM5 ROM and so excited with its great performance that you did not have time to give us some feed-back. Otherwise I am not sure whether I can endure another heartbreak by HTC... Waiting for your good news.
