View Full Version : Make NEW SoftBank AP setting on ANY Hermes ROM W/O cooking!

itamae
16th March 2007, 08:37 AM
After I posted ROM-cooking method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297687) to create new SoftBank flat-rate data connection, another Japanese X01HT user has found more easier way today.
I would like to introduce new method with respect for his great work...

Now you DON'T need ROM cooking!

Step 1. Unzip the attached file, and run either ConnSBM.CAB or ConnSBM_noproxy.CAB for your purpose.

ConnSBM.CAB: make a connection, overwrite WirelessMgr_Service.dll and enable hidden proxy (webopen.softbank.ne.jp:8080), it is fully compatible as X01HT's standard connection.
ConnSBM_noproxy.CAB: just make a connection (no WirelessMgr_Service.dll and hidden proxy installation).
The connection will be created, however password entry is still empty at this moment.

Step 2. Run ORE2cert.cab (self-signature certificate for WIFIwake.exe).

Step 3. Copy Out.xml and WIFIwake.exe into \Windows folder.

Step 4. Just RUN WIFIwake.exe from \Windows.

The password will be created into the connection made by ConnSBM.CAB.
To confirm whether success or not, check the connection "Internet > SoftBank", and click "Edit -> Next -> Next". If "****************" is shown at the Password field, the password has been successfully created.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Updated WIFIwake.exe as self-signed version. I've prepared Hermes and Universal version separately (the difference is internal string for each model name). For Universal, at least I could have successfully made the connection on the DarkForce WM6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1172213) for Universal.
Download ConnSBM_ORE2h.zip (for Hermes X01HT) or ConnSBM_ORE2u.zip (for Universal JASJAR) and try it again if the password is still blank.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: It seems to depend on CID...
To make this operation correct on non-SuperCID device, it requires to edit internal device name and CID. The attached file for Hermes seems workable for X01HT(Model: HERM200/CID: VODAK801) or SuperCIDed HERM200 device only, and for Universal, also only for JASJAR (PU10/CDL__001) or SuperCIDed device.
If you cannot create PW, you need to edit CID (01C798h-01C7A7h) using Unicode or UTF-16 mode of binary editor (for non-HERM200 or PU10 device, Model [01C760h-01C76Fh] also), and sign yourself... However, if you burn them into your cooked ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297687), it may works correctly without edit binary (I've successed on my JASJAR, using original WIFIwake.exe from X01HT).
You can determine your CID using info 2 command of mtty.exe.

Because it is necessary when using it from the personal computer as a

It seems this CAB utilize WiFi manager or something?
When I extracted the files from ZIP and executed the CAB, copy the Out.xml and WIFIwake.exe to \Windows folder and executed WIFIwake.exe, nothing happens. The connection Internet was created but the password is still blank.

Nice, I was messing around and the wifiwake will not put the password without the out.xml file but I was able to edit the text in the out.xml (which was about 300 letter As) and add some more random letters in there and it created it. Anyone think they can decompile the exe and look for the actual password?

Is this guide for fresh devices only, or can I use it on the phone with all my current programs and files intact? I mean, do I need to hard reset the phone to get this to work, or will it work regardless of whether I hard reset or not?

Hi,

Excellent work, I could create a GPRS connection and a password.

But there is a unique problem, the internet explorer is giving a problem. its giving an error stating

"The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again."

My wi-fi connection is working fine as when I installed Opera Mobile, its connecting to the wi-fi internet. But only Opera from my device.

When I Uninstall the cabs, internet explorer is connecting using wi-fi internet connection.

Pls let me know how i can solve this problem.

Thanks in advance.

thanks a lot, it is working well to connect to Internet.

However We used to have ActiveSync connected over 3G in SSL to synchronise with our company Exchange server, this is not working anymore. No matter how Many times we tries. ( It is like it is not even trying to initate the 3G connection ).

With Softbank OS it is working after importing the certificate but our Boss ( Foreigner ) is not going to be able to use Japanese OS so I am still stuck for the moment.

Well I guess I could just try to use another provider like Docomo or..are other provider in Japan also keeping APN password secret ?

Very annoying as it is a tool for work, which also use by Many Foreign Employee.

yusuke_mik
11th April 2007, 01:07 PM
Nevermind, Finally got it to work :

- Hard reset
- create the softbank connection Entry manually with a blank password
- setup Exchange server and try to synchronise ( of course it fails once as the password for softbank apn is still blank and no security certificate )
- Then do all the process written by Itamae except I skip directly to the Step 2 ( Step 1 works but then ActiveSync with Exchange server is not working anymore, don' t know why it is stucked )
- Import Security Certificate
- synchro works, boss happy yeah :)

Thanks again to the author of this workaround !

What exactly is different between connSBM and connSBM_noproxy? If using the one with noproxy, will I be charged normal packet rate instead of the open AP unlimited rate? A bit confused here.

Must I manually put in the proxy server address all the time I want to use the connection then? Please advise.

Are you having any problems with LSVW? I have tried LSVW WM6 and Black 2.0 and the Softbank connection dies after about an hour. The only way I can get it back is to softreset the device. Very annoying.

Sometimes it shows the "connected" icon and Activesync shows "Connected" but when I press Sync, nothing happens.

Actually not in my case. I am using LSVW WM6 with Radio 1.38/1.40 with an O2 XDA Trion and the Softbank connection never dies.

I have a TyTn, I am subscribed to Softbank, and use it in Japan without any problems using the "Softbank AP" setting described in the OP.

BUT, is there any other way known to make a GPRS connection using Softbank than by the "open.softbank.ne.jp" connection. I have tried the settings described in this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276643

But they don't work anymore. Any idea?

The reason why I am asking is: I am considering to get an Athena and want to use it with my Softbank contract - but of course only if I can make the GPRS connection work, and I am not sure that way described in the OP works with all WM5/6 devices.

I know that Softbanks "flat rate" tariff" is based on "open.softbank.ne.jp", but that does not matter, as I use my phone for business purposes.

Hello,
I am using an unlocked HTC8525 (HERM100 is the product ID) in Japan with success as a phone with my Softbank account. I setup a Softbank connection without the password, and kept getting the "cannot connect" errors, which led me to this thread...

I followed the instructions, and although cannot figure out which version to use (proxy vs. non-proxy) or why (any comments?)... I was able to get the connection working (it seems). I no longer get the connect errors. I am receiving messages (only MMS, even though I am sending SMS messages to myself from my wife's Softbank phone). The phone acts as if it downloads it, but I cannot read any of the body of the message. I can only see the header with the subject.

Also, the old Cingular connection has seemed to disappear, which I will need when I take my phone with back to the US next week.

After I did this process the first time (using the non-proxy version), the softbank was created, and the Cingular disappeared. I tried downloading some mails without success.

I went back to the connections, and only the "My Work Network" was there (this was while the internet was supposedly connected). I then disconnected the softbank connection and the cingular showed up.

I reinstalled using the proxy version, and it seemed to work, and created the softbank connection, but the cingular disappeared.

Any help would be appreciated...

I am also not able to access the internet via Softbank, but it's probably a related problem.

thanks a lot in advance. I don't know how long my wife's patience will be with me not being able to receive my messages while on my biz trips :)

I am a little confused about all this. I just subscribed last month to the Yen 980 data plan, which apparently caps at Yen 9800 for the month or something (as I am only in Japan a few times a year). I still use the vodafone APN for data on my Hermes. Do I need to use this fix?

DUDE!!! $800 for two months and you didn't die from a heart attack?!?

I KNOW! I was on the fricken phone all week with SoftDick and all they
could say was "you will have to do a hard reset". Well, yeah that won't
work when you have a different OS eventhough I still have the patch
ExtROM minus the 0182.exe file.

When I asked them why they couldn't just give me the password so I
could enter it they said they don't have it. Later that changed to we
don't give it out. Why?!? Stupid laziness is what they amount to at
SoftDick.

In the end I think I will just say PHUCK them at SoftDick and just use the
phone as a phone only with them and WiFi for the 'net. This way I am sure
I will never get a surprise bill from them from internet usage. If I can't
connect when I'm trying to, then I sure as hell won't be able to by "accident".

Try this: when you've copied the files, run the certificate maker, and run wifiwake, open the connection settings dialog. From there, just edit the softbank connection and click next, next and finish without touching anything else.

This worked for me once when it didn't connect properly.

It's not so much the simlock and data access block but more the way that
they assign ONE password that is the SAME for every customer. If something
does go wrong with your connection all that SoftBank can say it "hard reset".

If someone hacks this password it will teach them a lesson NOT to be lazy,
but then again why are they worried about this? I mean we still have to pay

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276643

But they don't work anymore. Any idea?

The reason why I am asking is: I am considering to get an Athena and want to use it with my Softbank contract - but of course only if I can make the GPRS connection work, and I am not sure that way described in the OP works with all WM5/6 devices.

I know that Softbanks "flat rate" tariff" is based on "open.softbank.ne.jp", but that does not matter, as I use my phone for business purposes.

After running either method, I get an error message when accessing any page that has a bunch of kanji followed by (WJ46000E). I'd post the message but it wouldn't display right, most likely. Any ideas?

Some people might be able to solve their problems connecting by changing the registry key:

HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Internet Settings

Change EnableAutoDetect to 1

Good luck, worked for me.

I just gone through all the post and I'm interested in doing it...

but just to clarify things out, Making new Softbank AP setting does this mean unlimited PC dirrect usage with minimum packet plan??? I know using basic packet plan would max you out to 10,000 yen then goes unlimited...

please clarify this for me.

it might sound stupid but does this work also on Softbank rom...for I tried on mine but nothing happens.

Question on the first and second step: should I run the program from the phone itself or should I run it through active sync?

please help...

I guess I was able to answer my own question. I was doing it wrong the first time and finally figure out how to make one...

but one more question that keeps bothering me is that, what does this new Softbank AP actually do? does this mean you won't pay extra after "packet 10" plan or it allows you to have a flat rate on /Packet (128 bytes) use?

any answer is greatly apreciated before I end up paying more that what I should expect...

Hi all, I've WM6'ed my X01HT, and have also ConnSMB (with proxy??). Internet browsing works fine, but for the life of me, I can't get my POP3 mail which had been working fine under Softbank's WM5 build. It's a connectivity issue as looking at my mail.log, I'm not even getting a POP3 login/connection.

It is connecting via open.softbank.ne.jp (same as for web) but doesn't reach my server. Has anyone else experienced this? Any recommendations?

hi,

1. Flashed x01ht with new HTC official wm06,
2. Softbank ap settings are generated using getting done. password is created using ConnSBM.
perfect till now. no issues. I could access internet with this gprs connection.

3. Now after this, I configure my home wifi connection to connect internet.
wifi connections is connected. i can see the connected ssymbol. but my PIE is givinng me an error, "page not found".

at this point if I install "opera for pocket pc", it is able to use my wifi connection. at the same time, skype for ppc is also using my wifi connection.

on the other hand, when i try to open windows live(new wm06 feature), it is trying to connect to GPRS connection and getting connected, but not taking the current active connected wifi connection.
but the main issue is PIE is not working and windows live is not able to use wifi.
now I delet the softbank AP settings created by ConnSBM, and every thing i have on my device is working fine with wifi connection. no issues. at this point if i need to recreate softbank AP its not creating a new connection as it had created earlier. THE ONLY OPTION AT THIS POINT IS HARD RESET.
I ahve done it several times till now and used diffrent sequence. but,

PIE, windows live has problem working together with wifi and gprs.

sequence #2 which i tried,

after flashing, run ConnSBM to get softbank ap settings. after done, without using PIE, get wifi settings.
now goto connections and just edit open.softbank.ne.jp, without touching anything finish it.

GR8, now gprs and wifi is working with PIE. BUT now WINDOWS LIVE IS NOT able to connect to internet.

pls. let me know how I can make Windows LIve get working to use the direct to push(which is my prime interest for wm06 with win live).

POF I seek your help here!!!!

CAN anyone here would like to give me some correct method to do it.
let me know if any perticular information si needed to solve this prob. Did anyone had this prob before?????

It's pretty much required to enable the autodetect key after you run the AP settings.. you get a short error message in kanji if you don't do this.

@onake I assume Chainbolt was referring to the ai@softbank connection which does not fall under the flat rate plan.

In a related issue, did anyone else recieve a SMS yesterday (9/10) from Softbank warning X01HT users about extra connection charges when sending S!Mail and/or connecting to the Internet?

Could this be a warning for people like Jeff Harris (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1300245&postcount=48)who got caught out?

Or perhaps this is a warning that they are somehow going to start cracking down on those of us who have used these AP settings to get our flat-rate connections back after upgrading to English OS/WM6.

I received it as well. I suspect there has been users complaining about extra costs and they want to avoir legal issues... Softbank has prviously been charged with abusing users with deceiving wording on their plans...
I dont really see how they could "Crackdown" on users and distinguish between the way people get connected

@onake and chainbolt etc.

I have been looking at the differences between the SB AP setting packages for the universal and the hermes, and from what I can tell only the WIFIwake files are different.

I am happy with my Hermes, but I am also interested in seeing other phones freed up to work on the SB network. I don't know exactly how, but couldn't someone take apart these exe files, look at their differences, and figure out a way to change them so they would work on other phones?

Obviously I am out of my depth here, but I have a feeling that editing these files isn't impossible - for someone else that is.

Okay, I got the WIFIwake.exe files open and I can't make heads or tails of most of it. However, I have found a string of about 200 or so random upper- and lower-case letters, numbers and symbols.

I have a feeling that the password is being taken from somewhere in this string. It looks passwordish.

I assume I am looking for a string that is 16 symbols in length (as the last one was).

I have one question for anyone who may know: Can this password contain symbols (like + or |) or is it strictly numbers and letters?

hi chainbolt,

what is the 'regular' way? still cannot get the flat rate setting done. : (

The "regular" way is using the SB "Packet Communication Service" at the AP "softbank". The big difference is that you have to pay, depending on the plan, for the amount of packets downloaded, whereas the AP "open.softbank.ne.jp" connection is flat rate.

The "regular way" is configered automatically by the network wizard, if you have WM6. Or you can do it manually

AP: softbank
user: ai@softbank
password: softbank

But again, the regular way is much more expensive.

Data connection is not the point. You can make this easily with a Hermes using "Softbank". ;)

AP: softbank
Username: ai@softbank
password: softbank

This makes a GPRS connection and you are charged for the actual number of packets - which can get enormously expensive.

The AP "open.softbank.ne.jp" connection described in the first post of this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1172318&postcount=1) gives you access to Softbank's flat rate connection. That's a totally different matter. ;) We are talking about a lot of money here if you use your Hermes on a regular basis for browsing.

Allan1, I haven't tried this connection, but I would think any softbank connection would work to get MMS when using the MMSlite program. Does it work for you?

Also, many people on Softbank with non-Hermes machines have just opted like you to use their Wifi instead of using Softbank's more expensive conneciton. Pretty stupid of Softbank to dissuade their customers from using their services, but then there you go.

Just a little question regarding the data options: I got a simple White Plan (only) card yesterday and tried the "ai@vodafone" and "ai@softbank" APs with it quickly and without any problems. I also created the flatrate connection and password using the above mothod. But whenever I try to connect it puts my Uni into an endless loop without ever establishing the connection. I tried the same with a friend's (White Plan) card and it connected without any problems. Any ideas what might be the problem?

larsuck

You say you just got the white plan? To access the flat rate you have to sign up for the packet-shi-houdai (all you can packet), which is another 980 yen a month minimum, 10000 yen maximum.

Also, to use the internet at all, you have to sign up for a 300 yen basic pack (or some such bullshit name) that includes email and packet internet usage.

Or at least that is what I have been led to believe. Sorry, it is late where I am.

Hmmm... That is interesting. I guess that 300 yen pays for MMS only then if you can access through the regular APs.

Or perhaps, and this may be totally off, but perhaps the regular APs are charged on a time basis (like phone calls) and the 300 pays for MMS and the packet connection (which is charged by kilobites).

As far as usage and money is concerned... I'm really not the guy to ask. I actually hardly use the GPRS connection for internet. I only use it to look up something on wikipedia, or to check train times once or twice a month and never enough to go over the initial charge of 980.

However, I am signed up for the 10000 yen cap because I mess around with my phone a lot, installing lots of different things, and you never know when/if one of those rogue .cabs is going to start updating or pulling weather data off the net every 20 minutes or refreshing rss feeds every hour or whathaveyou. I would rather pay the 980 just for the piece of mind that I get from knowing I will never get a 80000+ bill (which someone on this forum reported getting once).

Basically, a good rule of thumb is - if you are going to use the internet everyday, then the 980 plan is probably worth it. It is definately worth it if you are having email pushed to you or have any programs that update regularly (like the weather program on HTC home).

Are you pointing your browser to a keitai site? Or is your homepage set to a keitai site?

However, I want to use the Softbank settings that were ported from the Hermes phone but as I appreciate the CID is probably different and after having tried to use Wifiwake.exe there is no password generated on my Eten device....very frustrating as I actually subscribed to pay for the anytime service through Softbank!

Can anyone help me SuperCID my device or even alter the device CID to look like a Hermes device so that I can use the Softbank settings via wifiwake.exe??

Hey Larsuck, tks for your reply. I'm not using Netfront, neither I'm pointing the browser to a keitai site. It seems the password was generated correctly, so the problem could have to do with CID thing as my phone isn't super CID. In this case, what should I do?

tora201

I had this as well. What you need to do is go to:

Hkey_current_user/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/InternetSettings/EnableAutoDetect

and set the thing to 1.

Save changes and you will then be able to connect as per usual.

Hello everyone,
just recently I flashed the original WM6 HTC Rom. It's working great. Today I tried the method posted here to allow GPRS connection. I'm using an X01HT without SUPERCID but HardSPL 2.10 Olipro. I checked the configuration and even got *************** in the password field, however when I try to connect then I get the following error message > お客様の端末からはご利用になれません。(WJ46012E) Any ideas on how to fix it? Tks! GG

Tks Tora201! I did what you recommended but still it didn't work. I was just wondering whether you could receive MMS, because that might work only for the browser. I guess my problem has to do with CID as my phone isn't SUPER-CID.

hi everyone. Ive read through the whole thread but im still not clear on something. I have installed schaps 4.3 rom and when i use the cabs here i can mail mms but i cant connect to the internet with opera. If i use the connection wizard built into schaps rom i can do everything with no problems.

Now heres the big question.

I have the unlimited packet plan. Do I need to use the settings here or can I just use the connection wizard to setup the connection?

Hey Greengaijin, it should work fine! did you try a softreset after doing it? It fixed exactly the same problem for me, no problems. I have done this on multiple phones and all worked fine. Are you sure you saved the registry changes, etc?
Yep MMS works fine (with MSSlite). Arcsoft MMS does not work with Softbank.

Is here anyone from Tokyo area, who could help me to upgrade my Softbank X01HT from WM5 to WM6?

I bought the device in July, and I am using the default Japanese version with Asukul English translation over it.

But I want to move to WM6, prefertably English version with Japanese reading\writing compabilities. And of couse I dont want to loose the ability to use MMS\Email my @softbank.ne.jp email.

If you don't find anyone in your area, I'll talk you through it online. I'm in Gunma myself and I have flashed and set up my phone with Japanese input/output softbank mms, etc over 20 times.

If you are interested, just drop me a PM.

Has Softbank changed internet settings again?

Cuz for the past several days I have problems connecting to it.

I Can send MMS and receive, but after one or two messages, I cant connect anymore. If I try to use Pocket Internet Explorer it says "Remote Modem Has Disconected".

And I also cant send MMS. It takes me 3-4 "retries" before I can send something.

Usually soft reset or turning on/off flight mode helps, but just after next MMS send time :(

what can it be?

I've updated my X01HT to WM6 LVSW latest build yestreday.

Now, I cant use Pocket IE.
when i try to connect to internet, it connects, but than when opening any page it says:

エラー発生しました。リクエストが不正です。

what can be a problem?

p.s MMS, SMS, phone calls make\receive work fine.

After I posted [URL="http://forum.xda-
[B]ConnSBM.CAB: make a connection, overwrite WirelessMgr_Service.dll and enable hidden proxy (webopen.softbank.ne.jp:8080), it is fully compatible as X01HT's standard connection.
ConnSBM_noproxy.CAB: just make a connection (no WirelessMgr_Service.dll and hidden proxy installation).
The connection will be created, however password entry is still empty at this moment.

does anyone can explain what is the differents between two settings?

when i use the first one - my internet connection doesnt work it when i try to connect it says "エラー発生しました。リクエストが不正です。(WJ46000E)"

the second settings works fine, but one of my friends says, that this satting doesnt work with flat rate, so if i use it i can get a huge bill....

can someone explain the difference and also maybe there are some new settings and\or proxies to use?

Hello everyone,
As I'm trying to do all the SIM-unlocking, ROM flashing process, I wanted to have some answers about X01HT and I thought it was an appropriate thread. Sorry if it isn't!
I just cannot understand if the ExtROM is important or not to be connected to the Softbank network. As I will be flashing the device, maybe the ExtROM will disappear (as I want to unlock it and because there is the annoying "update_h182.exe", I have to make it disappear). Do I have to reinstall the files in order to be recognize by the network, or is it only for splash screen and so on. The Internet configuration (including the password everyone is looking for!) is inside the ExtROM or not? I think I never really understand what the ExtROM is useful for, but I've read this forum for 6 months, and I never found its real importance!
Thank you for help!

So there is visibly nothing interesting in Softbank ExtROM.
Such an interesting waste of memory... Anyone could precise the contents or not? Just out of curiosity. Even noobs want to know what happens...

I have been trying everything and con not get this *@&N phone to get a cell signal. Please help with somewhat easy language on what I can do to get this to work. I have an old X01T from softbank if I can just copy some files from if need be....

I'm starting to think there is no solution:mad: I have unlocked and uploaded and reloaded and re-unlocked, etc but still the same problem...My phone can not access the cellular network. I did a manual search and my phone does not acknowledge the JP Softbank network. I have put different kinds of ROM's and OS upgrades, etc, but still no success. I'm starting to think that these great unlocked PDA's only work in Europe and North America and not in JAPAN.

I have seen several other threads with others having the same problem so I am going to try to ask this question in several different threads.

I have no errors and everything works fine in the process, just like everybody says it does, but still nothing for acquiring a signal. It just either shows an exclamation point or searching dots. I have compared the various carrier options on my phone to other Softbank phones and everything is the same networks except acknowledging the Softbank network.

I'm praying there is some smart person out there who can figure this out...PLEASE...PRETTY PLEASE...

Tried flashing to a different radio? What is your radio version, anyway? If you can get NO SIGNAL at all, then it is most likely a radio problem.

Will the fix mentioned in the first post still work today? That post was March 2007 and I read elsewhere that the AP has changed since April 2007....

I am still using the ai@softbank connection and I an concerned about connection charges. At the same time I dont want to try something that will sever the connection completly.

Thanks!!!

Yep, alive and kickin' ! The last time I used it was in January and it always worked well. I accumulated 150,000 Yen with roughly 150 MB that month which were cut down to 10,000 as I was using the flatrate. So to all those who are using the old Vodafone access point:

BE
VERY
CAREFUL

This will burn a huge hole in your wallet even for casual usage scenarios. Don't even think about using push mail all day or (god forbid!) running Google Maps on it. But even with the flatrate it's extremely expensive in my opinion. Japan is seriously falling behind when it comes to data pricing.

I hope I can go online once more once they adjust their prices to a more sane level. 5000 Yen would be acceptable for a mobile flatrate (aka 5GB these days), but for volume tariffs it should be much below that. I just wish that E-Mobile was an option for me...

I just set this up and am chuffed! My company is picking up the tab so I can be online 24/7 (nice.. or not).

What pisses me off about this is that even when I'm on wireless the bloody 3G wants to kick in.. Seems I can't even stop the bloody thing.

But.. since I've resigned myself to paying IchiMan a month for the service, I suppose it doesn't matter.

That doesn't happen to me ever, but if you REALLY don't want to connect using 3G then you could just turn the Phone function off in your CommManager.

Now, I have been using this patch since its release and i want to thank you very much.

However, I recently bought a HTC Shift and tried to install the connection
within SnapVUE after liberating it. Installation went smoothly, but when starting WIFIWAKE.EXE i get an error message, in Japanese of course.

it tells me that a file is missing. So I tried the update versions from this post. No error message, it creates the connection, but doesnt insert the password.

I have no clue why it wouldnt work.

WIFIwake is unfortunately coded for specific machines. As of now, there are three versions, one for Universal, one for Hermes and one for Kaiser. Other devices that have been CID unlocked have reported success with the one or the other, but there is a good chance none of these files can be used with a Shift.

I am using latest CRCs ROM (12.5) and I cant install ConnSBM.CAB
I juste a message saying it s unsuccessful...
Edit: actually if running the cab uncompressed (ie unzipped to a folder instead of running from unrar), I get the following message: "The previous version of Customization Customize_Tool will be removed before the new one is installed" . Then it says it cannot be removed and asks if I want to continue installing the Customization Customize_Tool and then fails

Don't sweat. ConnSMB is just a shortcut. You can make your own connection without it. Use the following information:
Start>Settings>Connections>Connections
Add a new modem connection
Name: Softbank
Modem: Packet (GPRS, 3G)
Access point name: open.softbank.ne.jp
User name: opensoftbank
Password and domain blank.
Finish.

Then run WIFIwake and see if it puts the password in for you. If not, please let me know. There are other solutions.;)

This should work on any 8525.

Are you sure you are using the ORE2H file? The ORE2W won't work on Hermes.

unless you have somehow changed your model number to something strange. Try this, put your Hermes in bootloader mode ( reset with stylus while pressing and holding the side OK button and the Power button.) There should be some information on the screen. One of these things is your model number - perhaps something like HERM200 or something. Post this info and we will go from there.

I assume it is WIFIwake that is not working. The ConnSBM.cab file installs okay and gives you the Connection settings, right? Then only the password remains blank and the WIFIwake doesn't make the password?
