View Full Version : TCPMP WMV9 Fix (Orb Fix)
doc_lee
16th March 2007, 09:51 PM
Some people are having issues getting WMV9 in TCPMP working with WM6, particularly those of us who are trying to use TCPMP with Orb and are getting a nasty WMV9/WMA9 not supported error. This is because WM6 includes newer versions of the WMV and WMA codecs, which are named differently than WM5's codecs. Orb does work with WMP Mobile 10 and Conduits Pocket Player, but the video is incredibly jerky for some reason which I haven't been able to nail down yet, and I doubt I'll look into the matter anymore now that this works.
The fix is simple...just drag the old WM5 codecs into your Windows/ directory and reinstall TCPMP. After that, you should be able to use TCPMP to watch your orb stream (Windows asx stream on Orb 2.0).
I've included the codecs here in this post. This fix was tested using the Most Beautiful ROM. Let me know if it works for the other ROMs.

Thank You! =)
Now I can watch my news streams again which the crap Windows Media "Player" couldn't play! I don't think you have to reinstall TCPMP though, I just copied the dll files and did a soft reset (probably necessary) and everything works. If only there was a way to stop the 0.81 TCPMP from switching to portrait mode on launch then everything would be perfect...
Edit: just noticed this was a Wizard forum. This fix works with Universal WM6 as well (Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM Update 2.02.00 WWE).

http://www.okias.wz.cz/tcpmp/files/language.tgz - copy this file to TCPMP folder(replace old), and WMA(only WMA) audio start working with TCPMP, WITHOUT COPYING ANY NEW .dll file :-) but for WMV you must copy wmvdecoder.dll :-)

Got the video stream working again on tcpmp.81, but the video is extremely choppy! My ORB stream speed is set to 400. Conduits Pocket player plays fine when i switch orb to .pls format on the same settings? Am i missing something?

I'm getting very choppy video viewing WMV in either WMP or TCPMP. I've just installed NewsBreak and downloaded some video podcasts, yet they are unwatchable in either player. It now plays in TCPMP thanks to the codecs in this thread, but has the same performance as in WMP.
I can play an AVI file via TCPMP with Raw Framebuffer that works fine (apart from the known issues with tearing etc), but not video podcasts in WMV format.
Is there something I'm missing, or am I going to have to lug around another device for viewing these (which was one of the selling points of buying the TyTn II in the first place - so I could avoid this).
Thanks.

Am I doing something wrong? I cannot unzip the .dll files. I tried extracting but that didn't work, the only recourse I have is to beam the .dll files separately to my old device and re-beam them back to the TCPMP program file folder.
(I am using TCPMP directly from my PPC-6800)

dude your over complicating things, Download the zip, unpack it on your home computer so you have 2 .DLL files, copy both those files over to the windows folder on your PDA !! FINISHED

I got it working, somehow when I did a soft reset then TCPMP played the codec.
I did not use a desktop computer to extract the file. It works fine, thanks.

I just got my xv6800 and I am trying to use Orb.Com to watch TV as well. I used to have a motorola Q and never had as much trouble with Orb before. The video on the xv6800 is very choppy. I installed TCPMP .81 along with the codecs but the video is still choppy. Has anyone been able to fix this issue? Also, is there a way to suppress the "File already exits" message when clicking an ORB channel link? I appreciate all your help. Thank you.

I finally got it to work. Unfortunately, the only to get it to work smoothly is to change the web speed on my.orb to no more than 285kbps. It's not as clear as I hoped but I guess the xv6800 can't handle anything higher. Oh well. Hopefully there is a fix for this eventually.

I dislike posts with no information.... simply send an email to customersupport@mobihand.com for a refund request.
Now if you want to work through this... pls post more info on the type of files you are trying to play and i'll help you. Also, AC3 is NOT supported and will not be till after 1.5 when we release plug-in support in CorePlayer.

Pls PM me your reg information so I can look up the purchase. We are looking at the possibility that it might be cause by our protection system halting video playback.
