Getting unlock code from T-mobile Germany

I am wondering if anyone is here from Germany and how they got unlock code from T-mobile? Do you have to pay them 99 eur or if you are not on contract do you get for free codes?

Hi,

i bought my Athena in a T-Mobile Shop (Germany) without a contract. Thus I got the unlock code for free. I sent a copy of my bill to a fax number I got from the T-Mobile hotline. After they checked my bill they send me the code via e-Mail.
