Guys,

Just plugged in a USB mouse via the 4in1 socket. The device powers the mouse after a soft reset and I can use the scroll wheel to scroll.

Anyone know if there's a facility to enable a mouse pointer like on the Athena?

Cheers.

Oops. Yep, pretty much. What I meant to say is:-

Clear something up for me guys. With my T-Mo Ameo, i received the the mains charger, a USB cable, and a VGA out cable. Should there be another one for connecting USB devices? What is this 4 in 1 socket?

Hi,

It's an optional cable, which you can buy:

Yep, I have one too. Hence the question.

I've tried USB Keyboard, Hard drive and Mouse. All seem to work, but I need a mouse pointer to see where the mouse is pointing obviously and I can't seem to find one.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Mr Wavey, as soon as my cable arrives I'll see if I can answer your question ;)

Hi
I've tried the 4-1 cable and have also had no luck with the mouse pointer. Tried downloading the iGo Stowaway BT drivers but no luck. I think I will wait for expansys to get the new iGo BT mouse in stock in April (about £35) - they list the Advantage as being compatible. Unless anyone has any other ideas?

On a seperate note - I've managed to get VGA out working on my LCD TV through the PC input but have so far not had any look with sound. Ideally I would like to be able to plug in into my aux of my hifi but so far my cables don't seem to work?

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

I found application called sphelper, it was meant for smartphones to enable one to run. ppc software...and it gave an on screen cursor
www.bobsoft.com/sphelper

Shows a cursor....
I will try it, unplugging now :)

....

..
plugged in mouse, the mouse still works but its invisible and my cursor is in the middle of my screen :(

Oh well, I didnt have much hope. Just thought I might be lucky...

The search continues......

I have found a lurverly little tool discovered/created? by non other than Paul who runs www.modaco.com

http://www.modaco.com/Athena-Test-Mouse-Driver-t253431.html

Try this my brothers, it's nifty it is.

Remember to:

-Install cab file

-Soft reset device

-Only then, once you have seen the little screen pop up saying test mouse or something, plug in the adapter and the mouse.

I have found it works exceedingly well. The pointer can stutter slightly but I have not found it a problem at all.

Enjoy!

I don't really want to sign up with Modaco just to get the file.
Can you upload it here?
Good find, by the way....

Thanks for that Yarod....you're right, it works a treat!! I can live with the occasional stutter. The Athena is becoming ever closer to a Mobile PC.....just with a different more limited O/S but superb connectivity options.:)

just click ok and plug in your mouse. remember not to plug in before soft reset. the language does not matter.

I would be so happy if it works :-)

Just installed the cab file and can I say its brilliant everyone should download it and give this person a couple of £ for his efforts truly amazing.

Heres the result installed as cab from device, reset machine, mouse activation window appears clicked ok.

Now for the good bit :D inserted a Belkin usb mini bluetooth mouse sender, pressed on the connection button and voila, bluetooth mouse working perfect & to an extent in games to.

Only works in about 4-5 ft range about a meter and a bit not sure if thats down to the usb powering the sender. But is works great in Landscape, portrait is kinda confusing as the directions are then sideways.

I'm sure thats not to hard to fix. Please keep on working on this as this is brilliant.

I can sit and watch a film with TCPMP or Core Player on the LCD TV without getting up :D what other phone lets you do this ! lazy I know but cool.

Just thought I'd update you all.

Thanks
Paul

Just got my 4-1 cable and its proper bo! Got that applet installed and can now use monitor, mouse and keyboard! The only minor point is the VGA output isn't enabled after a reboot - you have to load it and force it to switch. Its also a shame you cant up the resolution on an external connector - my 1280x1024 LCD makes 640x480 look quite blocky.

But hey, still so VERY cool to have this functionality.

That is probably because VGA output doesn't include sound. You need to take a lead from the headphone output of the Athena and connect that to your hifi

I have tried it following procedure but I can't see pointer...
:(
...any suggestion?
Edit:
I also have tried this one http://www.deje.gmxhome.de/software.html but pointer doesn't come out!
Could it depend on mouse? I'm using a standard optical MS Mouse...
:(

Modaco's mouse driver is working for me with the Ameo and the Deja Mouse.
I had bought a new one, really small (fit for PDA) and would use it with the driver, but:
- no mouse pointer available, but the mouse is working (if I blind klick on start, the menu start open)
- If I go back to the bigger mouse, the mouse point are available, immediately if the USB is connected.

Should I could switch any registry option to bring up the mouse pointer to the smaller one, if it connected?
It's not so easy to to work with the small mouse on my notebook and with the bigger mouse on the PDA...

If you are working with WM5, please try :
http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=bluemouse

If you are working with WM6, the mouse-pointer is already avaiable. nothing to install.
