I had problem with other roms an dthis rom too. I make GPRS/3G connection. Internet connets through my isp. When i go to browser and type an address to open, GPRS connection doesnt connect automatically. I am using radio 1.35. I have asked this question many times and in different threads but got no reply. Are there any specific settings that I have to do? Please help.

usually when you open/read a sms, the top of the page shows the sender's name, followed by the message. so you don't have to scroll to read the sms as it's already there for you.

now when you read a sms, it automatically opens the sms but shows the sms when scrolled all the way to the bottom of the sms which is nothing, you have to scroll up to view the sms.

Black v1.2 now comes packaged with SPL 1.13.Oli. This SPL prevents you from bricking your device in future as well as eliminates bad blocks if you have them. This is a MUST with all the flashing going on these days.

There is also a new HTC SPL Boot SplashScreen.

by the way, what is SA ROm? you mean South African rom? as far as i know, this is WM5. and you are promoting you country this way, right?

i just wasted 45mb of HSDPA data to ensure that the link works. It does Work. next time just redownload it, it may have fucked up in your first attempt.

I was suggesting you do an official WM5 ROM flsh so that you can see wether the problem lies in the ROM or the device itself.

I think that error means you need to have Microsoft .net, go to the Microsoft website and download then install the latest version. This should solve your problem. :)

Yes you need to have .NET Framework 2 installed in Windows XP.

This is a must for any WIndows Machine as many applicaions are written with this framework.

i use resco 5.4 and it works. TOday I installed the beta resco 2007 and that works flawlessly as well.

Please note that older version of apps designed for wm5 will most likely not work / or have some compatability issues with wm6.

Does anybody have a CAB of the "modem emulator" from WM5? I don't quite remember what the app was called, but something like that.

I realize you may think this is the wrong thread. But there are so many sensible people in this one, maybe one of you will have this! It's about three hundred million times simpler to use, and at least in WM5 there was no problem connecting via BT. Does anyone have the modem emulator from Wm5? If it works in WM6, I'll let you know. Internet Sharing doesn't work well for me even via USB/AS4.5

Hi dbaser.

Cingular black is my rom which some guy just added the carrier settings. that was removed pretty much within a day by moderators.

the official WM Black is on the first page with the carrier settings for cingular made by shogun mark.

If you are using the unofficial cingular black u will notice that u have less storage space in your ROM as the guy who cooked it wasnt aware of the consequence of recooking a compressed rom (which black v1.2 is)

there could be other issues that could creep up in terms of stability on that unofficial version so be careful

Im new round here so please bare with me, Ive tried to install this amazing looking rom today on my Tytn with radio rom 1.34.00.10, and the installation appears to go through smoothly, however I have a bit of an issue in that I can only see white where the text should be on the today screen and I can only see white on the start menu aswell, with just the logos, Isnt the background supposed to be black, I have tried loading the theme from the today screen settings and this didnt work either... please help... Thanks

I set most of the notificaitons in the Sound and Notifcation Setting to vibrate but it not vibrating the phone when I recieve new email or text or whatever I set that I want it to vibrate for.

A bug or user error? Is there a new vibrate setting in another location?

I managed to figure out what was the issue with vibrate in WM6.

For the vibrate to work, you have to select both sound and vibrate enabled.

It must be a bug becasue in WM5 I could just select only vibrate enable with sound deselected/disable and it would vibrate.

The new vibrate pulses now instead of one long vibrate and I think the pulsing is easy to miss or barely felt if it was in a jacket pocket.

For example, Spb PP is not working correctly for me even with uninstalling the safe mode; O2 Plus is working partially, but the alarm scheduler is not functioning at all.
Any other apps we should avoid?

I know that, however for some reason, Windows LIVE wouldn't sync saying that the time didn't match even though the time showed correct. So I went ahead and installed DST just to try and it fixed that problem....

As I have previously stated I have used this Black Edition 1.2 rom from its first release and have had absolutely no problems after all patches, fixes and cab files were applied. I run O2 plus and use O2 UK phone settings .cab, and have had no problems with these or anything else software wise. I cannot see how it causes your problems.

It runs better than any WM5 rom I have had installed! :)

What radio ROM are you using?

Might be a Telstra specific issue.
I am with 3AU and I have no problems

what you could do is load up HtweakC and in there there is an option to always keeps your data connetion ACTIVE. therefore it wont drop out.

try it out and tell us how u went.

I loaded SPB Shell & SPB weather last night and it would seem Shell is causing major problems. Phone takes forever to boot, and when the screen eventually comes up it runs as slow as a wet week and most of the buttons don't work. Just had to do a hard reset to get my phone going again.
Anyone else had issues or have it working?

What radio ROM are you using?

Might be a Telstra specific issue.
I am with 3AU and I have no problems

what you could do is load up HtweakC and in there there is an option to always keeps your data connetion ACTIVE. therefore it wont drop out.

try it out and tell us how u went.

Using Radio version 1.35.00.11, I have that HTweakC auto-connection setting on but just noticed it lists both the 'Existing Connection' names and the 'modem numbers', eg Telstra.Wap, so will try changing from connection to modem number and see what happens,

As I have previously stated I have used this Black Edition 1.2 rom from its first release and have had absolutely no problems after all patches, fixes and cab files were applied. I run O2 plus and use O2 UK phone settings .cab, and have had no problems with these or anything else software wise. I cannot see how it causes your problems.

It runs better than any WM5 rom I have had installed! :)

Well, it doesnt cause many problems, it just silently and smoothly doesnt work. :) The profile scheduler, I mean.. Cannot switch from Silent to Normal at a certain time and date, for example. Anyway, I didnt need it that much, so uninstalled it..

Jas, looks like you're right again. Just installed SPB weather after my hard reset (no other apps installed yet), did a reset and it took 5 mins to boot up and the start menu doesnt come up.
Looks like another hard reset coming up.
Anyone else got this to work?

sorry if this is not the right thread (although I cannot see a different one more appropriate). I was just wondering if we can create a list of programs which run flawlessly with WMBE 1.2, or maybe better a list of applications that have disfunctionalities.
For example, Spb PP is not working correctly for me even with uninstalling the safe mode; O2 Plus is working partially, but the alarm scheduler is not functioning at all.
Any other apps we should avoid?

So far I have:

Resco Explorer 2007 beta (was using ver 5.40 with no problems as well)
Microsoft Reader
Google Maps
TCPMP

All I really need at the moment, everything runs without any problems.
Although if someone could recommend a good (i.e. actually works) backup software that would be cool.
Managed to wipe out my wifes contacts at one point and the 2 hours it took her to re-enter them meant I was very unpopular......

Well... Was going good until I decided to play with HTweak. Changed a few settings and then it took about 5 min to boot. And was terribly sluggish. I changed all the settings back, but still unusable.

HARD RESET -> Then installed most apps again. Ran fine. Tried HTweak again to see if that was what really did it. And sure enough... HARD RESET again :eek:

Problems with Internet Sharing (Wireless Modem)

I'm using XP and a USB cable. Used to work OK before upgrading to WM6 Black but now I get Error 797 on the PC saying modem not found or busy!

Any ideas?

Yep, confirmed. 1.6.2 of SPB weather works a treat, but stay away from 1.7.0 as it will stuff your phone right up, with Hard reset only option.

nope it wont downgrade ure SPL.

The UI is about 2 days outdated as it doesnt ask u if you have oli 1.30. selecting 1.1 is fine.

SPL will remain as 1.30

aha -i guess it doesn't need the DUN any more?

The connection on the desktop tries to get an IP address from the WM Device for 30 seconds then gives up.

Does this work OK with XP?

I've presently got LVSW march 20th, w. 1.38 radio & spl oli 1.10. Tried setting the RUU to Spl 1.11/new and ticked Hard SPL as per u'r instructions-
Herm goes into bootloader, RUU starts updating... 0% and stays that way, nothing happens, then after about a minute, says Error 262, goes into recovery mode. Reboot gives a normal Herm with no errors, still LVSW of course. WinXP all up to date, wasn't many days since I flashed LVSW... Ideas?

Let's be honest here people SPB Shell has not been updated for WM6. Most of the third party apps aren't. WM6 Devices haven't even hit the market yet.

Any APP you install to replace the User Interface will have an impact on your device.

The best thing to do if you are going to flash and keep flashing is to keep your third-party applications to a minimum...only install the ones that you really REALLY need. That way you can enjoy your device and the speed.

I'm with you. I'm a Flash-junkie myself. JJ said there were some surprises coming up in 1.3. That made me all sweaty & shakey.

I have just reflashed with LVSW OS version only and its only gone and done the bloody trick - back to a working phone

You should be able to move the new "Welcomehead.96" file to your Windows folder to replace the other. You can try that, it worked for me on the 1.2 that I am using.

You probably will need to generate a nbh with new MainSplash and SubSplash then flash it to phone.

When I installed this, it was after I had already updated ROM to 2.06 (unreleased AT&T ROM)

I still have the AT&T Boot screen. I would actually like to get this image instead... I like it! What do I need to do to get

one the charger note...is this a HTC Charger? 1 volt, or a .5 volt charger.

I had a .5 volt motorola charger...had the same problem, Got the HTC charger, all is well

in regards to car charger, read the accesories thread, u will realise why u have to SR your device.
Its because of the USB cable.

in regards to number 2. this does not happen, if u have paired ure device then its fine even with discoverable turned off.

It is just a text value to change to whatever you like

Change the registry key
HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\LongNamePrefix

from 'UMTS' to '3G'
This will then show as '3G Orange' instead of 'UMTS Orange'


Also double check that
HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\Enable3GLongNamePre fix
is set to '1' ie. enabled

I flashed this Black Edition v1.2 ROM with Radio 1.38.0010 and now my phonecalls don't work at all anymore....

Half of the calls I get connected but can not hear the other person... the other half of the calls I can't even pick up! Some for me initiating a call, half don't get connected, other half I can't hear the other person....

Bit useless to have a phone that can't phone....

It won't sync now with Vista, since I used the Internet Connection sharing.
It worked before using Internet Connection Sharing.

I had the same problem so I uninstalled WMDC and then reinstalled it again and it now works finr.

Are you sure it's the radio? There must be some interface between OS and radio. It's just that some would appear to be having success with this OS and radio 1.38.00.10.

I am using 1.38.00.10 on the LSVW WM6 rom with no problems at all in terms of phone calls.

Although not sure if the radio works better with different networks.

you must have an issue with your computer.. as i have no problems connecting via bluetooth...

performed a softreset and re-paired. its working now, sorry for not doing that before posting, but there seen to be several issues with bluetooth as it is sometimes not possible to activate bt with the comm manager

My battery was suffering as well so for kicks I went into HTweakC and set the GPRS to auto-attach and always on. I figured that would kill my battery but I guess since it doesn't have to keep connecting/disconnecting it saved some juice.

I decided to try to install Yahoo Go! (beta) to see what would happen ... installs fine and gets my mail, but when I try to open a message, I just see a blank white screen.

Anyone get this to work on WM6? I know folks don't like Yahoo Go!, but I did appreciate getting my Yahoo mail on my PDA without paying for some Yahoo premium service.

Does anyone have any alternatives to this? I use yahoo email all the time and would LOVE to get it on my 8525 without paying them for the Premium POP option...

Took some work to realise that I needed to unlock it first - I have just moved over from the completely unlocked Universal!!!

6 days on BEv1.2 and it hasn't missed a beat. I even stuck the new bootloader splash on to it and SPL 1.30.Olipro. All I can say is bring it on....

Not being rude to you but try using the search function in the forum. This question and similar ones have been answered a million times. The best idea is to read the entire thread to see who has had what issues and then learn how they were resolved. ;)

For some reason this Black Edition 1.2 didn't work for my device with Radio 1.38 or 1.34... I couldn't use the phone anymore.

I reflashed to the LSVW Rom as that didn't give me any problems.

Too bad as I really liked the work you did on the Black Edition!

I will surely give it another try once there is newer version.

For me, the bluetooth service will not start. When I try to turn on bluetooth, I get the spinning 'wait' icon for 10 seconds or so then nothing.

As I seem to be the only one with this problem so far, i'll stick with it and eagerly await v1.3 :-)

You will have no problems I am on this rom and radio, check the screenshot. You will need to set the phone up for your network though.:)

I have an email server and the smtp port is 27 and not 25. When I setup email in Pocket Outlook I enter the smtp server as mail.whatever.com:27 but I see the phone connect to port 25 on the server. This worked fine in WM5.

Is port 25 hard-coded somewhere or am I just a moron? :)

Having problems with the phone slowing down to a crawl or not coming out of sleep mode.

Just wanted to say thank you!, and share my experiences. On Monday I upgraded to wm6 black edition V1.2 with no problems at all (very vast indeed). After installing the OS and updating the dialer (xelashiu_crystal_black, it just looks great), on Tuesday I updated the radio to 1.38.00.10 SSPL, man what an improvement in the 3G/HSDPA! After some bad experiences with WMXL Windows Live! (It keeps calling through 3G even if there is Wifi), I went back to the old Pocket MSN. My TyTN is now running the following apps with no problem:

TomTom V6
Skype (TyTN Beta)
WorldMate Pro
Google Maps with GPS.
And more....

The only issue I have found is when wifi is on and the phone is put to sleep is sometimes doesn't wake up (needs a soft reset). I don't see this behavior when wifi is off. But other then that, thanks to everyone who really upgraded my phone! :)

Being a newbie, one strange thing I have noticed is that I'm not select all contacts in the wm6 dialer, although there are in my contact list.

When I received a call or made one, the contact is in the call history :confused: :confused:

I have got loads of forum details even downloaded a couple of the cabs that are out there - any way. To cut a long story short I wanted to do a hard reset on the unit to attempt a clean installation. I followed the wiki instruction on performing this action but all it does is perform a reset.

Any ideas?

Need to make sure you are holding everything down firmly and long enough for the hard reset.

But, before that, what issues are you having with Orange? I am on Orange UK and WMB1.2. I have set the phone up both manually and using cab with little problem.

I thought the soft keys were the same as on the universal - as in the ones under the screen when the keyboard is exposed - WOW how wrong was I????? SORRY

As for Orange Issues - I just cannot get picture messaging to work (send or receive) and I even had problems with getting it onto the Internet.

I have (honestly) been using all of the forum details and have actually copied off the version contained in a response that I got to my thankyou. I have changed the url to contain the / as previously indicated and amended my port from 8080 to 9201 all not working.

Any thoughts gladly welcomed.

Tested data - and it looks like it is trying to find something (as in the circle goes round and round and the status bar indicates locating but again nothing resolves and it comes back with an error message of "The page Cannot be found". I think the BBC and google are both still there :-)

I struggle with the MMS at the moment as well, but data should be fine.

You should have two orange data connections under My ISP. try switching the selection from Auto to the Orangeinternet connection.

I have even seen the mighty H whilst on the train!
