You will have no problems I am on this rom and radio, check the screenshot. You will need to set the phone up for your network though.:)

It looks like you too are missing the last two options being:
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+850)
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850)

Plus... on these option I have a vertical scroll bar which you dont.

Anyone.... How does one put these band selections running WM VI BEv1.2 with radio 1.38.00.10?

Thanks.

I still think you will be safe, as there is a reg edit you can apply as shown in your link, if you are worried about it, why not upgrade the os only, that is available somewhere in this thread, then the radio version will stay the same. :)

Boz & CrazyC

Cheers for all your help and your posts. Boz I have pinged you a pm. All of the posts and me going around in circles is doing my fruit in!!!! I am gonna call it quits for the night and attack it first thing in the morning. When I get it sorted (and I will) I will send all of the details with screen shots if I have to. Until then...........
Warren.

Could not pm you back as your message settings need to be changed to allow them!

Hi, no worries. Did you try this link here as it contains a lot of useful information and troubleshooting. http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

First off do a hard reset on your phone this will reload the phone and put it back to default settings (it will show you how in your user manual), then retry the cab files. If that does not help you do another hard reset then your next port of call should be Orange uk, give them a ring and tell them you want all the settings you need sent directly to your phone this will then autoconfigure your phone for you, give them the model number of you device but do not say you run wm6 as this will make no difference to the phone set up.

If this does not work ring them and tell them so, and they will talk and walk you through the settings, after all they want you to use their services! If after all these steps you do not get any joy get back to me and I will help further, let me know how you get on.

Cheers boz.

I'm having the same problems as wberesford - M3100 on Orange and 3G isn't working. Previously (only had the phone a week) I'm 99% sure all I did to get 3G working was to goto Connections, add a new modem connection, pick GPRS/3G and enter orangeinternet fo the APN.

I can't see any other settings that would affect this? IE sticks at 'locating', and 3G looks like it successfully connects - the 'dismiss' message comes up, then the little 3G appears above the signal strength bars.

Boz,

Cheers man! Your a legend in your own forum.
It is good to see that I am at least part way to the correct thought process. I have reset the handset a few times to get myself back to a clean basis and then tried mms / gprs / internet etc etc. Things still not right. I am supposed to be having my number ported from o2 to Orange later today (yes its that late at night) so when that is done I will get them to send me the settings. When that is done I am thinking I will have my first attempt at a 100% end to end set of instructions for other orange users.
As for the time being - I cant touch the handset cos I am upgrading the Radio rom ........ why oh why can't I just leave things alone.........hahahaha

Cheers for your help.
Warren.

Hm, sods law: It hadn't worked for about 30 mins, then within 5 seconds of writing that post miraculously started working. Looked kind of like a huge DNS delay. Haven't had 3G long enough to know if it occasionally goes down?

wberesford: The only things I did to make this work were in my previous post above - adding a modem with 'orangeinternet' APN

You need to check with orange on their website to see what the coverage is like in your area, it is infamous for going down, my area is crap on O2 they are well behind other networks with 3g transmitter coverage! :)

I downloaded the Black ROM upgrade to use with my Cingular 8525. I'm not sure what SPL version to choose. Do I pick.....
SPL-1.01MFG Bootloader
SPL-1.04/1.10-SPL-1.09 Bootloader
SPL-1.11/1.13/1.30 New Bootloader
or
Force using SSPL
or
Is it Hard-SPL?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have a feeling this reg edit (from the link) only works with WM5 O/S and not with WM6.

Can someone with WM6 please confirm?

I tried this rom last night. All installed fine and good looking on the device but once I added SPB Pocket Plus 3.1, it ground to a halt. I tried removing safe mode and re-starting but it was just too slow.

Gone back to XDA Live 0.2 for a while...

Windows Mobile VI - BLACK EDITION v1.2
................................once you try black you can't go back!

Developed by the two psychopaths in Melbourne Australia! - jasjamming [the iron chef] and walshieau [programmer with a vengence]

Feel free to make donations to us in terms of BEER and WOMEN! (ummm. please?)

Thanks for all your support and feedback in v1.1. We have sorted many issues as well as added better functionality all in a tight and compact form factor. Here are the details.

ROM VERSION: WM VI Black 1.2 (3.22.200.4)
CE Version: 5.1.195 (HEX-edited from 5.2.968 to support BBconnect)
Build: 17217.2.3.0
FREE STORAGE: 54.06MB
FREE RAM: 29.86MB

The Kitchen Used: ROM Koch (prerelease) by "dutty" - the bat out of hell programmer!
RUU Installer: Custom RUU 3.6 OLI (the fuckwit)

So, what does 1.2 contain (MUST READ):

1. Memory Cache Patch
2. HSDPA Icon Enable
3. SD Card Disappear Reg Hack (only works on some SD cards such as Kingston)
4. Bigger Screen (vjtoggletoday)
5. Brighter Screen (vjlumosIII)
6. Flashlight (vjCandella)
7. HTTweakC 2.1
8. MagicSS (Screen Capture)
9. Windows Mobile VI Black Edition splash Screen
10. WMBE.tsk (with black bars) set as default
11. SMS Backup
12. (TaskMan and RegEdit) in programs (the task manager has an integrated registry editor)
13. Connection Manager Icon tray removed
14. XButton (alias Task Manager in Settings) set to "close" when tapping and holding X by default
15. ATImageON Performance Patch
16. No EXTROM - simply unhide your current one with HTweakC and use it as storage space (another 10MB sweet)

Differences from Version 1.1 (READ THIS ALSO)

17. Removed PHM Registry Editor because 12. above has a built in Registry Editor
18. Major Boot Issues Resolved (thanks to the new version of dutty's ROM KOCH)
......NOTE: SPB pocket plus safe mode feature may cause problems (compatability issue with Wm6), if so Soft reset again and OS will load then uninstall Safe Mode from PocketPlus.
19. Cleaned Windows directory as much as possible removing rubbish/redundant files (SAVE STORAGE SPACE)
20. Compacted the ROM to its optimal size via use of tadzio's imgf tool chain
21. Because of 20, Windows Update was removed as the OS.nb is minimal and leaves no ROM room for updates via M$ (who needs this anyway, we are running hacked ROMS)
22. Cleaner Icon set for 3G/E/G/U etc.
23. Batti removed due to popular demand (its listed under optional apps below)
24. BBConnect & Goodlink Work (OS version HEX-edited to 5.1.195)
25. Softkey Manager
26. The funny green dialpad with white blank numbers issue is resolved (removed this crap)
27. Restored Remote Desktop link under Programs
28. Removed all alarm sounds except 1 and removed all ringtones except 3 standard ones. Users can copy across their own sounds (why have garbage when we can save ROM space)
29. Added WPA support with AES for WLAN
30. 3G Video Call option (please see list of optional applications). Video call was not embedded to save ROM space for people who do not use it.

Optional Applications for 1.2 (attached to this post)

1. WM VI Black Cyberon Voice Dial
2. WM VI Black Cyberon Voice Commander (taken from Dopod ROM) - this is similar to MS Voice Command except that it also reads emails
3. WM VI Black Batti 2.1 by David Andrš
4. WM VI Black VIDEO CALL Dialer with smart Dial
6. CWW Enterprises AUSraliat Operator Settings (walshieau)
5. Other applications/utils such as Windows Live or Pocket MSN etc can be found in the Wiki under cooked ROMS.

Well, this is probably the fastest and most compact WM6 Rom (in the presence of useful everyday tools that are added), We hope you enjoy it!!!

Known Issues to Date

1. Turn OFF Wifi option missing in popup bubble
2. Today background does not appear initially on the BLACK (WMBE) theme. You must reselect it in Settings\Today and then will show up properly. This is only work around at this.
3. My wife tells me to sleep on the sofa from now on (and she took my visa platinum)

----------------------------------------------------
Note: This upgrade also install SPL 1.13.Olipro Bootloader which is a must to prevent you from bricking your device in future. This SPL also eliminates Bad Blocks if you have them. A NEW BOOTLOADER SPLASH is also included. Your RADIO ROM is not touched, dont panic!

If you want the OS.nb only, extract it and flash it yourself (for advanced users only)

To install, run the (.exe). Then select the current bootloader you have. If you havent modified your BL (SPL), then the option you select should be SPL1.04-SPL1.09.

Disclaimer: NO warranties! LETS keep this thread clean and only post messages regarding v1.2.

----------------------------------------------------

SICK OF READING, then DOWNLOAD (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2N6SKZZK) ALREADY!!! If you already have v1.2 installed, you can install this update then restore your backup from SPB or the like.

MAKE SURE YOUR WINDOWS XP MACHINE HAS .NET 2 FRAMEWORK INSTALLED. if not, download it from microsoft and install it first before ROM Upgrade.

OK

1. The ROM is ENGLISH, no greek option

2. SPB backup restore will not work as you are doing a ROM upgrade. you cannot restore files from a previous ROM on a newer ROM. Thats the reason why u had to HR.

Are you ***sure*** you want to go back to WM5 just because you are having an activesync problem??

I had so many problems with WM5 that I'll NEVER go back. The activesync issue should be easy enough. Do a complete uninstall of activesync (control panel add remove progs select active sync and click remove) , restart PC, delete the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync and everything in it. Go to www.microsoft.com and download the latest activesync 4.5 (MUST BE 4.5), install, connect phone etc.

I know this works on XP - with Vista I am not so sure.

Stay with the dark side of the force bro...

Hey sir, i believe the white screen problem MAY have been connected with HardSPLv4 at some point. If you do not have SPL 1.35.olipro then flash black 1.2 aswell as HardSPLv5 (http://www.mrvanx.myzen.co.uk/hermes_guide/black). (the guide takes you through both)

mmm Downunder brothers are still in the kitchen this can only mean something good is cooking.

6 days on BEv1.2 and it hasn't missed a beat. I even stuck the new bootloader splash on to it and SPL 1.30.Olipro. All I can say is bring it on....

OK

1. The ROM is ENGLISH, no greek option

2. SPB backup restore will not work as you are doing a ROM upgrade. you cannot restore files from a previous ROM on a newer ROM. Thats the reason why u had to HR.

Read the forum topics first,

maybe is my bad english..

i make a backup in this rom..not to an other...and i am trying to restore it after that, but the phone stucks...

i am not trying to restore a backup from an other rom!!i am not so stupid:D

what am i doing wrong?

Generally this ROM has received a good rating, if it was genuinly buggy as hell there would be MANY posts saying so. Generally the problems are caused by 3rd party s/w causing havok. Almost all 3rd party packages are designed for WM5, there are subtle differences in WM6 which may not work correctly. I suggest Giving your device a Hard Reset and doing some trial and error research into the software you are using. Your radio seems to be a stable one so i would rule that out.

It seems at this point very clear that the reason you are having so many problems with this ROM must be because of other software you have installed not compatible with it (like SPB). Many people use this ROM and as you can read in this forum almost no one has the same issues you mentioned, and the very few that do have been able to trace it to other software not made for WM6 . So my advise to you is look somewhere else to blame for your bad experience.

Sorry to hear that mate but my experience with this ROM, the same for many others, is totally the opposite. If you are running any SPB software it is most likely the source of your woes. SPB software does not, as yet, run correctly on WM6. I believe SPB are working on updates. In the meantime I have been using alternatives such as O2 Plus and SBSH weather. They are working fine as is my X01HT.

Thank you for your help but i followed all your steps including add/remove of activesync and then deleting the folder from program files, and the reinstall of 4.5. yet the problem is still occuring, after installing 4.5 and connecteing to it with my cingular 8525 i then attempt to flash it with rom 1.30 once the screen shows the colors active sync automatically disconnects and the window minimizes????? any other suggestions?

there is a CAB file to fix this for the cingular 8525, search the threads. One of them for WM6 has a lot of helpful CAB files to fix a lot of known issues with wm6 and 8525(Hermes in general)

DOES ANY1 AT WORK HAVE A "NO CAMERA POLICY"

If so,

What if I release, along side with the standard Black 2.0, a Black 2.0 No Camera Edition.

Will that comply with your company policies?

What this means is that the camera application as well as all drivers to the camera will be removed, hence no photo/video camera and no 3g calling wil be possible.

Let me know what you think?

Not sure how convincing this would be to e.g. the company security staff givent he device still has the physical camera hardware on both the front and the rear. Trying to convince the security officer "... yes but I have no software for it anymore ..." may not be very effective after all.

So in short: not needed.

Maybe... but the core of the issue is the "rent a cop" at the door. They see lens on the phone and you are in trouble (specially with a Hermes, which in their eyes may look more like a camera than a phone)

I do not think that explaining firmware subtleties will make a difference to them.

Hi,

I have an I-mate JasJam and the ROM - O/S has not been touched since new.
Currently running:
WM5 AKU 2.3
ROM v1.31.305.2
Radio v1.20.31.10
ExtRom v1.31.305.103
on the Telstra Network (in Australia / Melbourne)

I am ready to upgrade to this WM VI - BEv1.2.

But before I do, I have one concern:

I am wanting someone to confirm that if I upgrade to this O/S (WM VI BEv1.2)with Radio v1.38.00.10 will I get the same BAND Selections and Network Type?

I currently have:

Select Network Type:
Auto
GSM
WCDMA

Select your GSM/UMTS band:
Auto
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)
GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
UMTS(2100+800)
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+850)

Extra tones were removed by the cooks to save the space. You select the tones that you want to have, rather than having the crap windows ones eating valuable space.

Both these points were answered earlier in the thread. I know its getting big but you can refine a search to just one thread.

:confused: so I don't have to read 90 pages of thread?

1) is windows mobile 6 black based on an offical release of WM6?
2) If I download this and install it, and I need to hard restart, what will my phone revert to?
3) Where do I get the program and how do I install it?
4) I'm on my second cingular 8525 (just got it after white screen of death) and does anyone have any 8525 success stories with this load-up?
5) Why would I do this?
6) What will it do to the other software I already have installed?
7) Will everything still sync with my XP Desktop?

Thanks for the feedback!

Why not read the 90+ pages, we did

1) No, the next version should be official tho
2) If you hard reset, you will get this rom
3) Read the first post or read the 90+ pages for other mirrors
4) Some have had white screen, but if you use the latest hardspl you should be ok. You have to read about it tho
5) your decision
6) You will loose all apps and will have to reload them
7) yes

Any possibility of getting the VOIP calling back in the ROM?

VOIP will be offered as an additional CAB installer developed by walshieau.

It will not be intergrated in the ROM as many dont use it, so why waster valuable ROM storage space.

Cheers :)

Hi,

Thanks for checking... Can you please advise you too have an Imate JasJam?

Thanks.

Sorry mate be you really need to do some reading. My signature tells you that I have a Softbank X01HT. It is in fact a Hermes 200. Imate Jasjam is a Hermes 100. A little bit more reading of the XDA Wiki will tell you that the guts and specs of these phones is the same with slight external appearance differences. RTFW champ!!

doing great,,,, the ROM is looking good, fast and stable, no problems with SPB software,

no BETA crap anymore like in editions currently avail on XDA, WM LIVE fully integrated in OS (not beta but official), newest build avail to date,

thats all i will give right now,,, :)

nooooo lol myself as I'm sure many other people don't use LIVE so if its a significant amount of storage space please consider following the trend of having it as a cab file for those that want it.

Hi Jasjamming and walshieau, when do you plan to release this VOIP cab? With WM6 Black 2.0?

Thx,

Got a weird problem with Windows Live (Messenger). I installed Opera and had some oddities - i think Opera crashed, and I had to end-task some stuff and restart. At some point Windows Live stopped working - when I tried to start it it just brought up a tiny window with a red error-x and nothing else.

So I uninstalled it and thought I'd reinstall - didn't work, failed during installation of the cab on the phone with 'installation of windows live.cab unsuccessful' after aout 2 seconds of the installation message.

So i thought I'd re-flash WM6BE, which I did and reinstall Windows Live

But after the reflash, installing exactly how I did initially I get the same error message - after a couple of seconds after the start of the install I get the same error as above.

Nope, LIVE is staying in there, it came with the OS, not added by me.
If i make it a cab installedr(hard job as there are so many frikken files and reg settings) then everyman and his dog will use it on other releases. Now:

1) i dont have the time to remove it
2) its a full official, not beta, and I cannot risk it being distributed

If you dont use live, then dont click on the program or remove the LNK from program files.

If you dont want it at all, then dont install the ROM.

I dont have all the time in the world to cater for everyman and his dog. I work full time, support a family full time and do this in my spare time, usually during the night.

I hope you appreciate it. if not, install another ROM.

Why don't we let him finish HIS ROM instead of bother him with so many requests and questions, so he can finish it ??!!!
Then we install it try and if somebody do not like it...well there are many fishes in the sea and there are many ROM's online (I doubt any nearly as good as the one I run now):D

After the first 5 pages of "hurry up hurry up" it got old.

I was wondering what the source material of this WM6 is? Is it developed from a WM6 beta into a custom version, or is it more accurately portrayed as "WM 5.5, an independent production"? Most of what I've seen on M$ site regarding the development direction of 6 is a big yawn, but this looks really cool, so I'm considering it. I just don't have another $500 if my 8525 eats it and goes brick, because I know after this Cingular is gonna have a big laugh if I need support.

Also, is there a way to back up my current ROM or is there a version of WM5 out there as a ROM in the event I need to "roll-back in case of critical system failure"?

Thanks for the info!

you ask too many questions without reading posts, but anyways welcome to XDA developers.

You know yourself that WM6 is not yet released therefore all WM6 releases to date has been based on BETA's.

I assure you that you wont brick your device if you upgrade your OS. Just be careful and ensure that you have Oli's HARD SPL installed.

Be careful or radio upgrades coz if things go wrong you will fuck things right up.

Things will change soon.

Jas, I am still having issues getting WM VI Black tethered with Mac bluetooth PAN. As a noob (been a member and prolific reader for many months though) I have read thoroughly on this forum and elsewhere and it seems that some OS and versions (Cingular AKU 3) allow PAN tethering in OS X 10.4.9. but there are no explanations as to why some versions work and others do not.

Does anyone know WHY this cant be done with Black 1.2?

Will this be solved in the full WM6 release - aka Black 2.0?

Hi JJ hope your having a good weekend with your fine lady!

Was just wondering if it would be possible to have the add-on .cab's as windows installers?

As a long time PDA user; LG Phenom Express, HP Jornada 720, Compaq iPaq 3970 (Pocket PC 2003 upgrade), HP iPaq hx4700 (WM5 upgrade) and now Psion NetBook Pro and T-Mobile MDA Vario II. It's always bugged me that there was never a universal install path for developers to use so I've always wanted .cab files to install from however after a hard reset or reflash there's nothing more satisfying than seeing all your programs reinstalled for you on first resync and if all files could be neatly installed to say 'C:\PDA Program Files' and be kept well away from the main system files I would love to use this system again as it was intended...;)

P.S. Expect a couple of development donations over the next couple of months. I keep paying for upgrades but have never found somewhere where the development continues and is customised for the users to the extent that BE and the other ROM's at XDA are well worth the investment!

I have the same thing. It must be something in the BETA that disabled Live after some time. I did not install nothing and today I wanted to use Live Messenger but I also only get the small error box with OK in it.
Maybe other people have this problem to. Or they are getting them now. Im GMT+7 so others might follow.

Anyways to JJ.... I love your ROM. It's the best thing I have ever had on my Dopod 838 Pro. Great job and looking forward to the new BLACK 2.0!!! :rolleyes:

Hello,

first of all I'm sorry if this has been somehow answered or mentioned, a search in this thread didnt bring any results.
I have WMBE 1.2 and with some pieces of software installed. It works acceptably, although I feel it works worse than WMBE 1.1, but maybe it;s just because I have a lot more software installed on 1.2.
Anyway, I have just bought an original HTC BT handsfree called HTC BH M100 and it doesnt seem to work too good with my TyTn. Pairing and everything went perfect, but all persons complain that they cannot hear me clear, my voice is very very interrupted when I use the handsfree. I tried to SR the TyTn, repair the devices together, but same result. Also, the handsfree works flawless with a Motorola phone, but not with its sister-device HTC TyTn.
Any ideas, suggestions?

Thanks.

Basically, I just went on a search to find a quick little program to allow me to do a "Press and Hold" on more then just the PTT button. AEButton is what I found, and it's more then was I was expecting. It makes EVERY button have the option to do 4 different tasks...

Single Press
Double Press
Triple Press
and Long Press

AEButton Home (http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php)

I also found Double Launcher (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&osId=948&jid=779DFEE26ECD48D7EX35AF558D2C29X8&N=4294916022&Ntt=button&R=41503) on Handango, which appears to be exactly the same button function. I don't know which of the two that is the original, but I can tell you AEButton works great and may have more extra commands... And according to Handango, the newest version for AEButton (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productId=182670) was on 3/5/2007 and Double Launcher's (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&osId=948&jid=779DFEE26ECD48D7EX35AF558D2C29X8&N=4294916022&Ntt=button&R=41503) newest version is 2/19/2007

Here's Hanango's description to AEButton:
Extends functionality of hardware keys on Windows Mobile devices.
It allows you to:

* Intercept almost any standard button: application buttons, WM5 SoftKeys, Volume slider, Enter/Action and even Red/Green phone buttons;
* Distinguish up to 4 different keypress events on each button grabbed (single, double, triple and 'long');
* Remap each of the keypress events to virtual application button (assignable via standard system settings dialog) or directly assign one of the built in actions.

Current set of built-in actions:

* Run any application with optional command line parameters
* Emulate keypress of Enter (Action)/Esc/up/down/left/right keys
* Emulate standard application buttons (calendar/contacts/etc)
* "Virtual Application Button"
Being specified as keypress action, "Virtual button" appears in standard Start -> Settings -> Buttons setup dialog and may be assigned here.
* Volume up/down
* Emulate Soft Keys
* Close (terminate) active application
* Switch next application
* Alt+Tab (switch between two last applications
* Built-in Task Manager with charge level / memory summary info. Task manager may be operated with directional pad (up/down - choose application, left/action - switch to, right - terminate) or finger/stylus
* Ok/Close
* Start Menu
* Switch Display Off or On. Once you switch display OFF you may turn it back ON by the same keypress event or simply pressing Power On button.
* Switch BlueTooth / WiFi Off or On.
* Vibration mode Off/On (WM5 only)
* Rotate Screen
* Go Online / Terminate connections / Trigger Online mode
* Power Off
* Soft Reset
* Switch to Today screen
* Clipboard operations: Select All / Copy / Cut / Paste
* Clock display
* Memory Monitor
* Battery Monitor with uptime forecast and voltage/current/temperature info
* Pop-Up menu with most important actions and command line parameters support

Having read the posts in this thread, I upgraded by SPL to the newest version, but then noted that when I loaded Black 1.2, it downgraded my SPL? With many apologies for asking this, do I need to flash 1.2 differently to maintain the appropriate SPL (i.e., 1.35 or higher)?
Thanks.

P.S: Okay, I found the guide for new SPL and flashing 1.2. Apologies for the "newbie" question.

I just wish there was a way to use BB Connect and surf the web and/or use MSN Live at the same time (since you can't send or view attachments with BBC :mad:) I'm loving JJ's and Kyphur's roms. I'm sure this is a dumb question, but if I flash a vendor's ROM (e.g. Cingy 2.06) then flash let's say Black 1.2 or 2.0 (when it's available) will I have Cingy running on WM6? Said another way, is the WM OS version inextricably linked to the ROM? I'd like to try one of the WM6 flavors while retaining some of my vendor-specific functionality, e.g. CV, working camera software, etc. I'm not worried about re-setting my network configurations, either through a CAB file or manually, I just don't want to lose some of the "branded" functionality, especially the camera software.

I've read and re-read the wikis, many forums, flashed the radio (without having to re-install apps!!! :D ), updated to Olipro-1.40 etc., and I haven't seen anything addressing this type of customization.

I've read and re-read the wikis, many forums, flashed the radio (without having to re-install apps:D ), updated to Olipro-1.40 etc., and I haven't seen anything addressin this type of customization.

When you run any rom upgrade it will delete everything on your pda and replace it with a completely new operating system, such as the one in this thread. The main functions like the camera are kept of course, but if you liked some of the other applications on your Cingular that will be missing on this rom, you will have to add these by cab files or create your own extended rom with everything you want to your tastes in that. :)

Wow, you are quick Boz!!

OK maybe this is a Cingy question, but let's say I flash Black 1.2 or 2.0 and assume that I'll lose my camera software, since I'm not seeing the camera app on the Ext ROM as a CAB file and it's not on the original install disk, I'm guessin' I'll need to find this app or other camera software to make Black work for me?? Where does the camera software live??

Any hardware built into your phone, e.g. the camera, buttons, keyboard, screen etc, etc, will always have software installed for it in an operating system rom upgrade, this is inbuilt into the rom and is going to stay there even if you have to hard reset. The rom chefs make the roms for the masses it is not like buying a tailor made suit!

There will only be minor fixes needed and these are usually things like a button might need remapping or you might want Microsoft Messenger as this was not included in the rom. All the answers you need and the cab file fixes can all be found after a bit of searching.

I have been on this rom since its release and I can honestly say I have had no major problems, only the usual teething problems which I have fixed with some searching and remapping. :)

Press and hold the 'OK' and 'POWER' buttons and then push the 'RESET' button in at the bottom with your stylus until the boot screen shows, you will then see what you need to know. Then soft reset to go back to your original screen. :)

Understood...thanks Boz.

So, if I flash Black 1.2 or 2.0, I should expect some basic camera functionality, but maybe not the software app that came with the stock Cingy install? Sorry, I'm not trying to be pissy, I just thought that the camera software/UI was a Cingy install and not a WM5 or WM6 component.

Well this noob didn't see the setting for locking off word completion to more than x letters...so thanks for the tip...that's perfect!

Once again thanks for this ROM, WM5 is UNUSABLE by comparision....I "ain't going back" to coin a phrase.

So what's all this about version 2.0 then? and what's going to be in it. This time I'll take the precaution of synching my contacts with outlook before flashing and therefore keep them - hahaha, I confirm my noob status with this comment!

Looking forward to next release.

* Intercept almost any standard button: application buttons, WM5 SoftKeys, Volume slider, Enter/Action and even Red/Green phone buttons;
* Distinguish up to 4 different keypress events on each button grabbed (single, double, triple and 'long');
* Remap each of the keypress events to virtual application button (assignable via standard system settings dialog) or directly assign one of the built in actions.

Current set of built-in actions:

* Run any application with optional command line parameters
* Emulate keypress of Enter (Action)/Esc/up/down/left/right keys
* Emulate standard application buttons (calendar/contacts/etc)
* "Virtual Application Button"
Being specified as keypress action, "Virtual button" appears in standard Start -> Settings -> Buttons setup dialog and may be assigned here.
* Volume up/down
* Emulate Soft Keys
* Close (terminate) active application
* Switch next application
* Alt+Tab (switch between two last applications
* Built-in Task Manager with charge level / memory summary info. Task manager may be operated with directional pad (up/down - choose application, left/action - switch to, right - terminate) or finger/stylus
* Ok/Close
* Start Menu
* Switch Display Off or On. Once you switch display OFF you may turn it back ON by the same keypress event or simply pressing Power On button.
* Switch BlueTooth / WiFi Off or On.
* Vibration mode Off/On (WM5 only)
* Rotate Screen
* Go Online / Terminate connections / Trigger Online mode
* Power Off
* Soft Reset
* Switch to Today screen
* Clipboard operations: Select All / Copy / Cut / Paste
* Clock display
* Memory Monitor
* Battery Monitor with uptime forecast and voltage/current/temperature info
* Pop-Up menu with most important actions and command line parameters support

thank you very much man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems that even though the pairing is done seemlessly, the voice path is very much interrupted and unclear. Ive tried this handsfree with a nokia and motorola phones (god i hate those phones) and it works perfect. I have also tried a Nokia BT handsfree with my TyTn WMBE1.2 and it is working perfect as well.
Any ideas? (Please dont suggest to use the Nokia handsfree with my TyTn. :))

Double check your settings, some people have noticed that the IP settings etc.. dont seem to work correctly unless you use a full 3 digit number ie:

JJ,

sorry if im being too persistent with this problem/question of mine.
I have a serious problem about using the original HTC BH M100 bluetooth handsfree with my HTC TyTn WMBE1.2. My question is: is there anything special about the BT stack in this ROM? The headset is working great with all other devices I have tried it with (Nokia, Motorola, Eten, HTC P3300), but not with this one.
I will flash a different WM6 on my device and see if the problem persists and keep you all posted.
Or maybe the Radio ROM 1.38 to be the one to blame?

Using a Dopod and BE v1.2 (love your work jj) and Radio 1.38.00.10. Also used "CWW Enterprises AUS Operator Con.cab" to set my data connections for 3/Three AU. It sets-up connectivity as 3netaccess, 3services, and 3mms.

For messaging, I have set my 3/Three email to be checked every 30mins with connection through 3services. The '3G' icon changes to 'H' when it connects and checks for new mail, then drops back to '3G'. It remains connected to 3services.

After a few minutes (or when I go into messaging), I will get a pop-up prompt/notification that ... "In order to send/download MM messages, the current active connection may be closed. Do you want to continue?". I then have to tap menu and have a Yes or No option. Select No and the notifications disppears, coming-up again soon after. Select Yes, and the 3services connection is dropped and it immediately makes a 3mms conection. The connectivity icon changes to 'H' and it appears to be checking for any MMS's sent to me. It then drops back to '3G' and remains connected to 3mms.

And the scenario repeats itself, with the pop-up prompt/notification occurring some 28mins later when it attempts to connect using 3services for an email check.

Anyone experiencing this, and/or is there a fix. I read the whole 98 pages and used the search function, but neither revealed anything I thought applied. I would just be happy if I could get it to stop prompting/notifying me of the change in connection and did itself? Or have I got some setting wrong in my connections? Thanks.

Great ROM, and great thread. Registered yesterday as a compete noob, but using these threads for two days and a couple of Googles (plus one unhappy wife) and everything is sweet. Bought you a couple of beers tonight, but probably not enough for how cool this is. Even got HSDPA running, getting 820 - 860 kbps from Cingular EDGE compared to 230 kbps unmodded from Cingular.

The only weird thing...I CANNOT find HTTweakC anywhere on my 8525. I'm only up to message 70 in this thread so maybe it lurks in what remains...but all I've read so far implies I should be able to see it easily. But where????

If someone can expalin a few things to me Id really appreciate it.

I see there are different romms available for the TytN eg Vanilla, black etc whats the difference.

Then also I wanna know why are there different radio versions and whats that all about

The last question is do i first update my Tytn from the LEaf website and then load WM6 or not

Also this SuperCID whats that about and LSVW and HARDPSL?

thanx in advance

@smithedwin:
CID stands for "Customer ID". Each phone has a CID assigned which specifies the vendor or operator and what ROM language can be installed. The CID on my phone is CDL__001 which specifies "Carrier Devices", the "maker" of i-mate phones.

SuperCID allows any ROM and any language to be installed but does void your phone warranty if you would happen to brick it. By using SSPL or Hard-SPL (search the Wiki for more on these names) you don't need to "SuperCID unlock" your phone anymore and your warranty will still be valid.

lsvw is one of the guys cooking ROMs. I have used his 26/3 WM6 ROM and found it very good. There are several other WM6 editions available. One highly anticipated ROM is jasjamming's Black Edition v2.0.

If you want to play it safe then wait a couple of months for the official WM6 release sometime end of Q2 or early Q3.

I would just be happy if I could get it to stop prompting/notifying me of the change in connection and did itself? Or have I got some setting wrong in my connections? Thanks.

Yeah, I'm with Telstra and I'm having the exact same problem. Don't think anyone will be looking at the thread anymore given the recent V2.0 release. Fingers crossed this will disappear when we upgrade.

YOU SAY JASJAMING GOT

jasjamming's Black Edition v2.0

WHERE IS THIS NEW ROM IV GOT 1.2?

Now it's old news already but I didn't say "GOT". I said anticipated (http://www.webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?sourceid=Mozilla-search&va=anticipated).

Ok, so I finally carved out a spare hour and read a good chunk of the forum (and more importantly, a big piece of the Wiki and Manuals).

[By the way, this would not be such an odious process if a forum monitor would get in here and delete the 5 pages of "hurry up already" style posts in the beginning - I feel like I was on a myspace fan blog]

Anyhoo, I think I may update my phone's ROM to the latest "Offical" release (Cingular/AT&T - US Release) first as a test bed for the process. It seems (according to one part of the manual) that I have to first downgrade my bootloader first anyway (I have version 1.06, supposedly I need 1.04) before any of the upgrades will allow me to update the Radio version in the first place (is this accurate?)

I am going to just download all of the ROMs (including my current one, which is on the HTC website as the [current official accepted allowed blah blah blah release] just to have them handy.

If you just follow the guide to the letter, you wont go wrong and be done within an hours time. I came to this forum a few days ago, a complete n00b, never flashed a ROM, didn't even know what "flashing a ROM" meant. I read a a few threads, then stumbled into the guide thread. Having a stock Cingular 8525 I wanted to max it out to it's fullest even if it meant bricking it. Step by step I followed the guide. Now, running WM6, Black, and with a custom Wisbar theme I made with custom icons, I'm a happy guy! This forum, and community really takes great care in making the "NEW" guy that stumbles into this place feel like they actually know something. ;)

So if you upgraded from the latest "allowed" version of WM5, did the mod to black bring up your radio too, or did you have to retrograde your bootloader to get the new radio version?

Thanks
