Hey guys,
I'm guessing that a full sized usb drive ( with external power supply ) would work no bother with the Ameo, do you knwo if one of the iPod sized external drives would work? ( would it be ok with with power drain )
thanks heaps

Hello,
I got a Freecom 1.8" 40GB external HDD to work, over an external powered hub.
But my old Ipod 1.8" 40GB HDD in an ICY case didn't seem to work at all.
Also with some different 2.5" HDDs I've had no success until now, neither with self-powered, nor with external powered devices.
3.5" drives I haven't testet at all - I'd like to use external devices in vacancies, so 3.5" is to big for me and requires 2 different voltages (5V and 12V) requiring an external power supply while the others requires only 5V which I can supply with my external 5V battery from Ansmann 3200 mAH (USB connectors as inlet and outlet).
May be it depends on the build-in controller of the external HDDs too.
But as the Hitachi drive in the Freecom case has an other connector than the Toshiba drive of the IPod I can't test it at all.
Hope it helps quite a little bit.
Greets
