How about some details about your device? What is your current IPL / SPL at a minimum? Did you CID Unlock your device before trying to flash? What rom were you trying to flash?

If you want the stock Cingular, its on the HTC website. Or you can flash the TMobile 2.26 rom (if you are CID Unlocked) and it will work fine for you and give you a good stable base to then work with custom roms.

Go to http://www.america.htc.com/support/8125/software-downloads.html to get the official Cingular ROM.

If you have the rainbow screen, you are in bootloader mode, and when you connect via USB to your computer your 8125 should show "USB" in the lower left corner. Doesn't matter that you can't use Active Sync, in fact don't even try - ignore or cancel anything about Active Sync that pops up.

Just run the official Cingular ROM .exe file - it should have this title: RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe . Close all other programs on your computer first, and remove your SD card or dummy card in the SD card slot. Watch the progress bar for 10 minutes or so and you should finally get to 100% and it will reboot - it may pause for what seems like forever at various points on the way to 100%, but it WILL get there, so don't panic.

Once your 8125 reboots, follow the screen alignment and tutorial cut and paste, then it will do the "Customization in 3 seconds" deal where it loads all the Cingular stuff from the extended ROM, then it will reboot again.
