Hi

Just to let you folks know what a 'GREAT' device the new Ameo really is.

I received mine from T-Mobile earlier this week and first impressions were what a 'GREAT' big brick it actually was. I was always aware that the Universal was big but I couldn't believe that anyone would put up with the increased bulk of this new kid on the block.

I now know why I have become so smitten with the Ameo.

Having spent a few days with my huge friend I am somewhat taken in by its capabilities. Firstly you could never use the Ameo as a normal phone and this is reflected in the handset restricted use ie speakerphone/wired headset or the bluetooth equivalent. Could you really hold this beast to your ear and talk ?

Using the universal always made me tempted to use it as a conventional phone and forget its many virtues ie beautiful vga screen high spec built in qwerty keyboard etc.

I have been using the Spv M700 which I found to be far superior to the Compact III(Artemis) ie wi-fi 3g high speed data etc.

I found the Compact III to be sadly lacking with so many features compared to the vario 2. I know the in built Gps is a welcome addition but the spec of the device was a step backwards in my opinion.

Back to the Ameo.

Fast processor, beautiful screen, first class innovative keypad( graffiti is my preferred text method but the magnetic keyboard is a great idea) and what about that whopping 8GB microdrive. Plus you have the ability to increase the memory still further with the mini sd slot.

You are left in no doubt with the Ameo that your main use has to be its data capabilities.

I had used the Universal for a few months and whilst I found the device to be large it was still a great piece of kit. I understand that the Ameo is not the upgraded version of the mda pro.

Last of all can I congratulate T-Mobile with its bold move to be the first UK network to release the Ameo

Small is good but big is even better
