the more I read here (much of which is complete gibberish to me)...the more I think I'm lucky as hell.
althogh I'd just buy another 8525 if I bricked it.....I've gone up and down the bootloader continuum as well as superimposed about every radio and Rom available (completely indiscrimanantly)...and am sitting with a hot black v1.2, 1.38 radio and spl 1.13.oli 8525.
Grateful (and lucky) as hell I guess.

excuse my dumb question but what exactly does the SPL do? what are the benefits of newer SPL's? I checked the wiki and came up dry and I figure this thread is as good a place as any to ask...

it's the bootloader... it controls the flashing of ROMs to the device, as well as a variety of other low level tasks.

whenever you want to make any significant changes to the device, generally it's the SPL that does it,
