Why is it only for belgians?
If it is an official WWE version, it should work on every WWE device, am I wrong?

But this doesn't work on other WWE devices?

From my experience all WWE roms designed for the HTC Trinity brand will work whether posted in Germany or in Belguim or in timbaktoo. It is designed for the HTC unbranded trinity. Therefore I can carefully say it will work. Unless a more experienced person here can smack me on my head and tell me to jump off a cliff if I am wrong lol.

And I suppose that the warranty won't be voided with this ROM, right?

If somebody has a Dangaard device… He can check the official Dangaard web site ROM upgrade.

oVan
26th March 2007, 07:12 PM
I said for Belgians because the download site will check for a Belgian IMEI. As it is a Dangaard-website, it might be available on other Dangaard-sites too.

There should be a Dutch and French language version also, but as I have an English language device I cannot see them.

I'm uploading to RapidShare now, I'll post the link asap.

I registered and ran my IMEI and it will not allow download; probably because it's a UK CID. I guess we'll have to wait until someone with a Belgian IMEI downloads the ROM or until the UK version comes out.

I'm sure that this WWE rom will work. However the rom version looks lower than the latest Dopod rom, you could just upgrade the existing Dopod rom with the new 1.38 radio.

I was looking at the installation process of adding customization after the rom upgrade. does it include the day time saving time or do we need to install it on the device? also is is AKU 3.3.1 different than the AKU of the Dopod GPS Rom?

The difference in the numbers 1.23.707 ,1.23.405 between the Dopod and this rom might be due to customisation issues ,on the whole I think this is a newer rom ,and its a HTC original .

This for sure the "real one" everything works fine, GPS, 3G and HSDPA icon when you receive , and a extra streaming media program , on HTC simlock free we didn't have that in ROM before .
Camera works fine, seems to me that the sound is much better ???
finally , something came up..... I can recommend for everybody who wants a WWE official ROM

Skype still comes out the speaker. Playing AVC/AAC no noticable improvements in CorePlayer, though it no longer has the screen jiggering that it used to.

27th March 2007, 01:46 AM
Is it safe to do a Sprite backup before upgrading, and then apply that backup to this new ROM? Just wondering whether the registry may have a different structure or something?

I don't know of any phone/device where Skype didn't come from the speaker. I've always used the wired headset for Skype.

What about the bug where a busy signal comes from the speaker? Is that fixed?

Thanks!

Sorry, I'm sure I sound like an idiot, but what is wwe? (probably somewhere in the faq but I haven't seen it yet)

Also, if I upgrade to this rom will it void my warranty? I have a Dopod D810 on Three Australia. Will I loose all operator settings eg mms settings etc. If a wait for an official release from Three Australia (from the dopod australi web site) will it keep all of the operator settings?

Thanks

EDIT: Just found out that wwe means World Wide English. Anyone get the answer to my second question?

Guys I've just unlocked my HTC P3600 with pof's unlocker and as a result, its also SUPER CID unlocked.

Anyway, after the unlocking I downloaded this ROM and installed it and it seems to have worked fine without any problems at all.

But I cant seem to find the GPS settings anywhere!

I dont have any GPS application installed yet such as tomtom for example, but I'm sure there is suppose to be a GPS setting somewhere. I had an HTC P3300 and on that there was a GPS Setting.

Here is what I have on my device:

Rom version: 1.23.405.2
Rom Date: 03/11/07
Radio Version: 1.38.00.11
Protocol Version: 32.71.7020.12H
ExtROM Version: 1.23.405.103

Thanks for the download to the original poster and to pof for the unlocker.

Cheers.

To enable GPS icon in the setting tab, change in registry:

In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings

1. DWORD marked Hide (if present) - change the value to 0
2. Delete the DWORD marked Redirect (if present)
3. Add a DWORD called Group and give it a value of 2
4. Soft reset the device.

Well i think to work on vista you have to install the drivers from xp... i saw this in a post here. I haVE VISTA but to install a rom i use xp.

Why don't you just flash from the SD card? Much safer - no risk of USB comm problems, no laptop that can mess things up - and MUCH faster:

DeathWarmedUp thanks a lot for your quick response. I changed the value of HIDE to 0 but there was no REDIRECT string. I then added a GROUP string with a value of 2 followed by a soft reset and it worked just fine.

The GPS setting now shows in SETTINGS\CONNECTIONS\GPS

Just one more question. Isnt there suppose to be a GPS setting within the main GPS setting where it allows you to connect to the internet to download GPS data so that when you start your GPS application, you get a quicker GPS fix?

Just curious as I saw this on the HTC P3300.

Also since this latest ROM update is suppose to have enabled the GPS, why are we having to change registry values to find the GPS Settings?

Dont get me wrong I'm very greatful for the help provided by DeathWarmedUp, but these boys at HTC are just pissing me off!

I'm close to hitting someone with the Trinity. There is a new device out from Samsung, the Samsung i710. It looks pretty decent and I'm thinking about switching! Check out the size and weight of it  :D

These GPS settings are not necessary. There is no benefit to have them! Just use your GPS software, which recognize your built-in GPS receiver ad that's it.

dont want to brick my precious.

I've got a Dutch Sim lock free P3600, do I still need CID unlocker thingy?

If your rom is WWE then you just charge your battery 100% remove your simcard from the phone sync it to your pc and run the upgrade .

I have one problem with the new rom. When I make a photo it is saved to storage card\my docuuments\my pictures.

When I browse to this folder through file explorer no images are there :(

I have deleted the My Documents folder completly. Took a new picture, My Docuements\My Picture map is created again and everything is workijng.

It is a bit scary...

Hi,

Has anyone noticed this on their machine: When you click Start and press Settings, it takes a second or so to go to the Settings menu. And when you click on any of the categories it also takes a second or so to switch between categories? Is this normal with this rom or is there something or program making it freeze for a second before responding?

Thanks,

Gilbert

Actually you don't even need to take your SIM card out. I always upgrade my Trinity by using the wonderful SSPL by Des (because my device is Italian CID) and I always leave the SIM and the miniSD in the device. :)

Personally, I never remove my SIM, but always remove and reformat my miniSD. Then copy any data files back to the card after the process is finished. That way I start with a clean slate.

Just thought I'd let you guys know about my experience with this new ROM so far...

I've been using this ROM for a couple of days now and have been using the GPS for the first time on this device too and it seems to work perfect. It never seems to take more than a minute for it to get a fix.

It seems a lot faster in general too, especially when entering the settings etc.

The only thing which is bothering me a little bit is the date which is now in two lines instead of just one! Theres plenty of space for it to be just one line as this is how it was in the previous ROMS and on all other WM5 devices that I've used. Clearly something over looked by HTC if it is indeed an official ROM, as someone has started a thread here where HTC are saying otherwise!

The GPS, however, is not very practical to use on foot. I did a little test today at work when I went out to get some food and decided to give it a try. For starters, the arrow kept pointing in the opposite direction and even though I marched on, it wouldnt turn itself around and re-calculate the route until I had reached another road but even then it would mess up again!

Has anyone else tried using it on foot?

Thats about it really. Not much I know but the fact that the GPS does work in a vehicle is a great thing.

Would be nice to hear how others are getting on with this ROM.

Regards.

Many of the Navigation packages don't have a pedestrian mode. For instance, I used Iguidance quite happily in my car and when I tried to use it on foot in a city it went crazy because it doesn't like going the wrong way on a one way steet or going places that are not a road meant for cars. I installed TomTom which has a walking mode and all those issues went away.
I think the problems that you are having are software related, not the device.

Exactly. It is not related to the GPS itself. The software assumes that you are driving ... and drivers should stay ON the road. TT and MN have a pedestrian mode and there is special GPS Software that is designed for pedestrians and even shows your postion in the woods (as long as your device can see the sky)....

A friend of mine got a NO GSM error on his Universal and when he took it to the HTC service they claimed that it was his fault for having run a rom upgrade without removing the sim card first , since then I've been very careful to ALLWAYS remove my sim before upgrading, better safe than sorry eh?

In Settings : /Change preferences/Planing preferences (page3)/

You can set then :
Ask me every time I plan
Always plan fatest route
Always plan shortest route
Always plan avoid motorway
Always plan walking route (the one you are looking for)
Always plan bycicle route
Always limited plan speed

In my case, I choose : Ask me every time I plan.
Then each time I make a planification it asks me which plan I like.

unfortunately this was the answer for me. I had the same problem as everybody where the card was disappearing once in a while, new folder created and all, but eventually it was just gone. I had no access to my SD card. Looking back, my last action was to copy some data to the card.
So I formatted it (FAT32) and now it's back.

Fellow Trinities :-)

HTC sells HTC P3300 and HTC P3600 devices.
GPS 'was' disabled on the P3600 and TyTN as P3300 had GPS enabled. 'Masters' made it able to enable GPS on P3600 and TyTN (but in the TyTN there is no antenne).
I am a n00b, but I think the hardware of the P3300 and P3600 is the same. So I guess FM radio should be enabled by our Masters.

@any Master: Would you have a look if FM Radio could be enabled?

P3300 has a SIRFIII, don't try to find it on the P3600 ... neither does the FM radio exist. P3600 does have a qualcomm chip which made it possible to activate GPS.

You should be able to plug in your phone and flash away. The update program won't let you do it if it is the wrong CID. In this case, just do a soft reset and all is back to normal.

I've loaded the rom to my 3600, and cant get the GPS to work.
I't just doesn't activate.
I have tomtom 6, and it doesn't find the GPS unit.
I tried changing the com port, tried changing tomtom settings on what GPS unit to search for, but still no GPS.
If i connect my BT external GPS receiver, it work's.
I belive the idea to update the rom, is to enable the built in receiver right ?

Any ideas ??
Thanks

Try to set the connection settings in TomTom manually: COM 9 4800 Baud. Go outside! Wait 15 Minutes under clear sky! If it works, raise Baud Speed.

It will work!
