Dear all,
As promise HTC and his French importator (Dangaard) released yesterday the new French ROM with GPS enabled.
Before, the only French ROM with GPS was made by French operator SFR (model name is S300+).
By now, the regular HTC H3600 is available in French with GPS enabled.
We (I and friends) test it and let you know.

Now checking GPS is working.... Prochaine étape: test du gps

Everything looks fine after install, but I can't get the GPS to be recognised...
TomTom shows 'No GPS' and I don't get any data in GPS Viewer either...
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to setup anything in GPS parameters? How can I check that the GPS is activated?
Thanks for your help...

At least with my (s300+ SFR) version, Bluetooth needs to be on in order to make the GPS running. So in TomTom, select "Other Bluetooth GPS Receiver" and choose "GPS on COM9". First fix (after install or soft-reset) may take some time, so be patient.
Bye.

Hi,
This rom is not the French official Dangaard update for France. It's the belgian one (also in french). So, be carefull for warranty.
Dangaard France official rom is not yet plublished.

Thanks LuMe96, but this does not solve the issue... The GPS is still not recognised...
I had the same problem as you yesterday night using TomTom: No GPS device found
When using TomTom… I had only the opportunity to choose between the 3 GPS devices:
TomTom BT Antenna – Other BT antenna – Wired Antenna (something like this)
I tried a lot of combination with the COM ports and other settings staff… but no way…. No GPS… No signal.
Fortunately I remembered that my TomTom is version 6.01 (the default included in the TomTom DVD) and an update (6.03) exists for the HTC P3600.
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=6736&Lid=1
I downloaded it using TomTom home… Installed it… And I had another possibility in the TomTom GPS devices (in addition to the 3 listed above): Internal GPS Chip.
And now every think works…
I hope it can help you.

Thanks Cyrus Kourosh, but I do have TT6.03 installed, it shows 'Internal GPS' as an option, but still I can't get any signal (even waiting long time and hanging outside...
I did set the Programme COM to 9; anything else you think of I should do?
Anyone faced similar issue lately?

Sorry for that...
Concerning the other settings I have (I do not know if it has an importance or not).
Using the HTweakC utility... I activated the GPS icon in settings and it is set now as :
Port programme GPS : GPD1
Port materiel : COM9
Débit : 4800 bauds
Acces : Gérer GPS automatiquement activé

Thanks again for these infos, Cyrus Kourosh... unfortunately it still doesn't work! I am now wondering whether ther actually is a GPS chip in this box!!
I guess I'll try a rom update from scratch, and/or wait for a new version!
Cheers

Hello FroggyZ,
Sorry... I know how it is frustrating this kind of problems :(
Also you can check ppccool.com French forum (Trinity section)
If I remember well some people have the same problem as you... perhaps you can find a solution there ?

YiiiiiiHaaaaaa, it's working now!
So, for those facing similar issue, using the latest French (Belgian!) ROM: After installing the Rom, the GPS would not be recognised; I played with settings with no success; then decided I was gonna re-install. I only did a HARD reset, followed by a SOFT one when the '3 seconds' HTC message appeared... and now the GPS device is recognised in TT6.03 easy! For info, I did another hrd reset with no consecutive soft reset, and it still works great!
Thanks for your support:)

Dear All,
I've loaded the rom in my trinity and I still don't see any item related to GPS parameters in the system menu. Have you the same pb and is there any parameter I missed to activate after the reflashing? In other words, is there any way for me to check wether the GPS is properly activated?
Thanks for your help.

Hello
One member of PPCCool : Smak posted the link for Official rom from HTC France (http://www.ppccool.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=6181&view=findpost&p=48367):
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html
It is available since today ;)
Of course, you need French serial Number or IMEI
Special Bonus on this page:
- Tomtom 6 + one free map from a French town
- French operators setup file to configure data for French operators.

I have the SFR 300+ version of HTC Trinity. I can't download the ROM because my IMEI / SN is not recognized by HTC...
Is there a way I can download it anyway (for example by providing another IMEI)? Will I be able to flash it? Will I be able to install Tomtom afterwards?

I also have the SFR version and the GPS IS enabled. Try the supplied tomtom and as mentioned, select built in GPS.
Can anyone tell me if it's worth upgrading the ROM anyway and if so, where I can find it? Also, would changing to an English ROM invalidate my warranty?
Thanks.
