Thank goodness, no more green :) . One thing that bothers me about the new rom is that a few people are still reporting that TomTom continues to locks up with it. Apparently the Dopod Test rom (which I'm running) never did have this problem. Someone also said that the Orange rom fixed this issue. I don't want to change my rom if TomTom is going to start locking up. I have never had this problem with the Dopod Test rom. Any ideas on what might cause this problem? I'm also using performance Tweaks, maybe that helps too.

BTW, in the LVSW version Transcriber has been removed. Is it that big or slow the system down??? I don't use it that often, but i'm just wondering why remove it?

First, congrats about the new rom .
I just have two questions, the extra storage did it come from whitting down the rom or from merging with part of the extrom?
I also noticed that used ram was almost 20.5 megs ,is that right after a soft reset ? Because on the new WWE rom you get about 17.8 megs, and ram is a precious commodity.

It takes GPS-Drivers?

Is necessary to install with this ROM the HTC WaveDev.cab - BASS boost (2007-02-24)?

1) did you also remove the dopod sms(169kb)/email(333kb)/ringtones(288kb)?
2) and the extra MMS app VGA resources? ( present in the last DOPOD Official rom, MMSRes_480x640.dll 484kb )
3) Maybe those help files and associated images could be removed to add even more device storage. ( html=208kb + resources=? )
4) 1-nature_15fps.mp4 - 208kb

Hello, it can be something insignificant what I am going to say to you, but watches if the ROM that you want to install is the one of this thread and not previous it of Lvsw. You I say it, because that went what it happened me to my. The connection was defective, or I was mistaken, and when I watched the name of the ROM I observed that he was the previous one. does this rom even have GPS enabled ? I assumed that this was a cooked rom from the new official HTC GPS rom.

I applied the reg changes and changed the tomtom settings according to the GPS settings and left my Trinity out in the open for a nice 30min but still no signal.

I heard some people had to wait a while the first time from a cold start but I'd think 30min is long enough.

Has anyone tried GPS with this rom ?

lvsw stated in earlier posts that this release is for all devices...

My interpretation of this statement is the following one:

"You can install this release even if your device is CID LOCKED, so there's no need to unlock first"

This is true ?!

It is truth…

My HTC is CID LOCKED, and I have not any problem to install the ROM of Lsvw.

For that reason Lvsw speaks of which the ROM is SUPERCID… for all, because the own ROM includes the tool SSPL that allows to jump the CID.

After i installed the new ROM, I installed iGuidance 3 on my P3600. at first, the program was unable to find the GPS receiver, but then i selected "auto-find" and iGuidance found the GPS receiver on COM 9. a few seconds later, my location was on the screen.

Note: i never tried TomTom, but i read that it locks up on people sometimes. iGuidance locks up on me too, but that's only if i close the program without exiting iGuidance. If i want to close iGuidance, i go to "file" then "exit" and that closes the program completely. i found out that if i do that, iGuidance doesn't lock up on me the next time i run it. hope that tip helps

btw - Thank you for the ROM update, lvsw!

Impressions of the new ROM after a day of use...

1) the "G" on the top of my screen is now and "E". does that mean Edge? i don't think t-mobile has Edge yet, and even so, i never signed up for t-zones.

2)The GPS works perfectly with iGuidance 3.

3) before the update, i was unable to view the pictures i took with my camera if i saved the pictures to the storage card (i have a 2 GB card). i had to store the pictures to the phone if i wanted to view it later or transfer it to my PC. if i didn't save it to the phone, it would be stuck on trying to open a picture when i want to view it, then i have to do a soft reset. but after the update, i can save the pictures to my storage card and view it later.

that's it for now

To LVSW...

First of all thanks for the great work. I sware that the call volume is louder and the internet speeds are faster with this rom, or at least that is what I have noticed when I moved from the Dopod gps rom. My question is you stated in this new rom " - STANDART storage (more stable)", what do you mean by that? Does the new rom not have 59.45 Mb. of ROM anymore. I haven't noticed any stability issues yet but don't know if I should be looking for something or not and don't know if I would benefit with an upgrade or if the new rom will net me anything. Thanks in advance for your input and keep up the GREAT work:D

So far I like this ROM a lot. I think the Transcriber was a large (though very clever) chunk of code. Regretably my handwriting is darn so awful the Transcriber could never read my scratchings anyway! I appreciate the extra storage and don't miss the Transcriber at all.

I know I may be in a minority but I liked the green. But is is very easy to add back in any themes you like and this ROM still leaves a ton of room.

Am I nuts, or is there no radio update in this ROM? Not a problem at all, just a check on my own sanity. As my radio did not update I just installed the stand alone radio update 1.38.00.11. Worked fine. Please would somoene kindly clarify this (just so I can measure my own stupidity or lack thereof!).

Had a weird problem, but it probably wasn't this rom. After the upgrade, I did a full backup with the commercial SPB Backup Utilty. Later on I installed NetFront and and the Realplayer Preview. My device went screwy and all kinds of basic programs would not launch e.g. File Explorer. Error message was something like "You are using the wrong version of this program". Uninstalling NetFront and Realplayer didn't fix things so I just restored my back up and things seem fine with this ROM again. I imagine those programs tripped my issue but I did wonder if it could be to do with this ROM having the developers cetificate. Gotta admit I totally do not understand the concept of signed/unsigned apps and certs at all... maybe someone would be very kind and educate me a little?

I know zero about GPS, but while you are waiting for a real answer...

I may as well share that I found that Google Maps works with the GPS Program Port GPD set to "None" (1st tab in the GPS Control Panel), the GPS Hardware Port set to COM9 and Baud Rate at 57600 (both 2nd tab) and Access (3rd tab) set to Manage GPS Automatically.

This may be irrelevant to a serious pro app like TomTom, but my guess the answer may still lie in part with those settings in some way. Dunno tho.

Good luck!

The title bar Wifi icon kept animating which usually indicates handshaking. But the wlan is established and working fine. The wlan util confirms that association is good.

Is this the correct upgrade for my device ? I already have a GPS icon on the settings screen. I am using this device with Cingular (US).

-Jim

The short answer is no.

This is customized experimental work of interest to enthusiastists. While it might work very well on your device and you might choose to install it, there are no guarantees and there is a definite risk which you must be willing to accept if you choose to try it out. It is not supported by HTC or Cingular and is not "correct" in that sense.

The strictly correct upgrade is always the official release supported by the manufacturer specificially for your phone. If you bought it from a carrier, any official upgrade will be come from them, if offered. If you bought an unlocked HTC device, strictly speaking, the only correct download will be the one offered for the country from which your evice originated. For example, if you have the UK version of the HTC P3600 the official, the supported update is at

http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html

If you want the latest correct official version consistent with your warranty, stick with the official release only.

If you are looking for the most up to date, experimental version of the software for your device and you are comfortable with that and understand the possible risks (and remedies if needed), then the LVSW ROMs may be what you are looking for...!

Hope that helps :)

Hi ..
I finally found out what the issue was with my GPS issue .... If you all won't beat me up, i ll tell u all !!! :D

I always tested my GPS signal inside my apartment hoping it would show my current location. Though i stood near the window, i still wouldnt get any signal. I actually live in a concrete high rise on the 10th floor and that is reason i wasnt getting any GPS lock. Duh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just driving outside and tried it out. Its amazing !!!!! Very very accurate and fast !!!! I installed TomTom from HTC website ... its just amazingly accurate !!!

Thanks a lot everyone ... next time i report an issue, i ll make sure i tried all scenarios :)

And LVSW .... this ROM is just awesome ... i love the dialer. Its much faster and very responsive compared to the original one by HTC !!!!! Thanks a lot ...

This ROM is very good. ;)

But the big problem with this new ROM "RUU_Trinity_LVSW_1.25.0.2_WWE (AKU3.5)_20070407", is the WLAN connection.

It's impossible to connect router Wifi with WPA-PSK protection. :(

I think LVSW must update his ROM !

Thanks.

That's totally cool. I am a GPS novice myself! I think the thing that ticks people off is when someone pretends like they are an expert when they are not! You were straight up about what happened. Fair enough. It seemed to me tha GPS takes a little while to get going first time around and it defintely helps to be directly under open sky! That said, once it is running, it seems to be that it will often keep working indoors too.

...the big problem with this new ROM "RUU_Trinity_LVSW_1.25.0.2_WWE (AKU3.5)_20070407", is the WLAN connection....

Is there a general consensus on which is the fasttes, most stable, fully functioning ROM for the Trinty right now...LVSW 1.24.02?....or maybe even back one more to 1.24? TIA :)

Sorry 'bout my typos... too tired to correct them..!

First of all I'd just like to say that LVSW is 'THE MAN', Much respect for all the good work!

OK, now that's out of my system my question is as follows......

Does the previous version (1.24.0.2) of LVSW's Rom also cause a problem with WLAN or is it just this current one (1.25.0.2)?

If the WLAN is ok in the previous version (1.24.0.2) of the rom does anyone know where I can download it from because I can't find it anywere?

Just this new one have the wlan problem...

:(
Is it just coincidence that both cooked AKU 3.5 roms that are currently available for the Trinity have WLan problems? It seems that there could be a link. I'd like to upgrade my ROM but if I go to all the trouble to install my apps again, WLan has to work, otherwise I'll have to reload my old ROM and install everything again. I guess I'll just wait and see...

I've got the WLAN problems as well, but they are not consistent.

After installation yesterday I was able to connect to my WPA-PSK router after a soft reset, though no auto connect bubble came up & I had to enter the data manually.

At home I was unable to connect to my open/MAC Filtered router until I turned off MAC filtering. The MAC address of the device DID show in the client list on the router. Once connected I turned MAC filtering back on, and the connection wouldnt establish.

Today, no go with the WPA router, despite repeated soft resets and manual entry of the data. Changing the IP config to static caused a lockup, which persisted through a soft reset unless I intercepted the Comm Manager at startup, and stopped WLAN.

So, for now its back to the official HTC ROM :(
