Hi Folks,
finally the first (?) official AKU 3.3 Rom arrived. It's a t-mobile branded german rom.
You can get it here: http://www.t-mobile.de/privat/0,1788,13082-_,00.html
Change the model according to MDA Vario ("Modell ändern")
Click on tab "mehr..."
Click on tab "Software/Konfigurationen"
and finally on "Geräte-Software"
First Impressions:
After Cleaning the AutoStart folder (it's StartUp in english roms) it works well on a good speed. til now (i use it since about 12 hours) it's very stable, better then any unofficial version i tried. so I don't have to use the old AKU2 Rom any more.
a disadvantage is that the branding is not restricted to the extended_rom. dialer skin and carrierlogo are preselected to t-mobile style and the t-mobile today scheme is installed but not enabled. mms folder is preinstalled.
Versions:
Rom-Version: 3.8.2.2
Rom-Date: 11/10/06
Radio-Version: 02.69.11
Protcol-Version: 4.1.13.30
OS 5.1.461 (Build 15671.3.3.0)
For my interest: Midlet Manager 11.1.7.1029 (Risidoro extracted 11.1.7.1023)
maybe the none german speaking user are interested in the new radio rom. so it would be very kind, if someone could extract the radio rom.
i'm, interested in the new bootloader versions. Can I still downgrade?

Same missed call issue with WM6 as 2.61?
Also, can I use this ROM IPL/SPL 3.09 instead of T-mobile 2.26 as a base before I change to a different custom ROM??

You got that right ...Sigh... another useless post. That dose not answer his/her question. ...Sigh...Blow me.
His first question was "is this link english?" the answer was obvious if you clicked on the link...no, it is in German. His second question was "will it work on TMo USA?" which was answered in the other thread. He then clarified his original question, "is the German ROM availiable in English". That answer is no, but you can bet that as soon as it is, it will be posted here on the forum.
Frankly, if you feel the post was useless, then PM me, but to add another "useless post" complaining about a post is just plain stupid. For what it is worth, "dose" is spelled "does".

Is there any way to convert the German Rom to English after you have loaded it on your phone?Perhaps. Look in the registry and change the MUI from 1031 (German) to 1033 (English). It is always better to flash in your preferred language, doing that generally will give you a more stable system.
You may need another .dll but I am not certain, the # change above should work.

:) Hi,hi,hi
Yes, there is a way, very simple way.
If you are a native englishspeacker and start to learn German you will translate this rom in your mind.
But be carefull, because if you learn to much German you will not translate it anymore but just use it in German ...

The first OFFICIAL AKU3.3 ROM out for the HTC Wizard; German only!!
As was reported by the excellent XDA-Developers folks (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1206215), T-Mobile Germany has just released the first REAL and OFFICIAL AKU3.3 ROM for the Wizard we’ve been waiting for half a year. It’s indeed great news that operators do release AKU3.3 ROM’s for the “outdated” Wizard.
http://www.winmobiletech.com/042007SindbadDrPocket/WizardOfficialAKU33Update.bmp.png
(As can be seen, it’s indeed AKU 3.3.)
A screenshot of the desktop installer (http://www.winmobiletech.com/042007SindbadDrPocket/AKU33Update.png); the Device Info screen with the ROM versions (http://www.winmobiletech.com/042007SindbadDrPocket/WizardOfficialAKU33UpdateDeviceInfo.bmp.png)
The direct link to the file is HERE (http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/?redirect=http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/t-mobile/ruu_vario_aku3.3_3822_382120_026911_tmo_de_ger_shi p.zip).
No, if you don’t speak German, don’t run to download it – it’s all German. However, if you DO speak the language, and want an official 3.3 ROM, you may want to check it out.
Some benchmark data and system information I’ve measured / collected on my G3 (!) Wizard:
Boot-in time: ~43s; that is, slightly worse than with some of the not-so-official AKU3+ ROM’s (36s with for example KTamas/bepe AKU3.2 beta) and about 2s better than with Faria’s AKU3.3/8M pagepool with all the niceties installed (!) and enabled (default operation)
Free RAM: 24.36M with an inserted memory card and 25.76M without; nothing running. That is, it’s way worse than Faria’s ROM with 8M pagepool without a card (28.86) and about the same (24.39) with a card.
Free storage: 42.88M, nothing installed; that is, about one Mbyte better than the Faria 8M version (41.57), while the latter has a LOT of additional goodies well worth the one Mbyte (Adobe 2.0, Intent 20060907, MMS, GB-Tweak, just to name a few apps.)
Factory-installed apps:
There’s built-in MMS support (http://www.winmobiletech.com/042007SindbadDrPocket/WizardOff33ROMMMS.bmp.png)
The version of the Intent Midlet Manager is 20061012 (http://www.winmobiletech.com/042007SindbadDrPocket/WizardOff33ROMIntent.bmp.png); that is, pretty new (and newer than even the one in Faria's ROM (20060907)).
As far as third-party apps are concerned (note that I didn’t let the initial T-Mo customization installer run – have soft reset the device right after it has finished the initial screen calibration & the usual questions), it contains Clearvue 2.42.452 (http://www.winmobiletech.com/042007SindbadDrPocket/WizardOff33ROMClearvue.bmp.png). There is no Microsoft Live.
Bluetooth
As far as the new 3.3 features are concerned, there is NO Bluetooth FTP support (http://www.winmobiletech.com/042007SindbadDrPocket/WizardOfficialAKU33UpdateBT.bmp.png) (unlike on the HTC Trinity, which does have it). This is certainly bad news.
All in all: it could be better and, of course, it'll only please German speakers. I fortunately also speak German (as well as a lot of other languages), but this will be a problem for many.
On the other hand, it’s official - no need for using "cooked", "unofficial" ROM's, which are plain unacceptable in, for example, the enterprise. Hope English versions will follow soon (it's better NOT to try to convert this one into English).

Perhaps we can run a WM6 in german some time. O2 will bring the Herald (HTC P4350) with WM6 at the End of April. ANd I think P4350 and wizard are nearly the same. 200Mhz OMAP, and and and... SO perhaps we will get an official WM6

Does this ROM support the WiFi WPA2/WPA2-PSK Authentication & AES Encryption? Obviously we have this working in the unofficial AKU 3.3 and WM6 ROMs but this is using a hacked file from another device; an official 'tnetwln.dll' file might be a nice addition for a ROM cooker?
Are T-Mobile developing a WWE version of this ROM? It seems a bit strange that a German version was released before a WWE, I would have thought WWE and then other languages?

Considering that T-Mobile is a German-owned company (Deutsche Telekom) it doesn't seem THAT strange...
I love the delicious irony- usually all of the PPC upgrades are English-first (or sometimes even English-only) and everyone posts "is it also available in Turkish (or Arabic, or whatever)." Finally we English-only speakers get to experience first-hand how the rest of the world feels waiting for Microsoft software updates to filter down to their language! ;-)

OK, I'm addicted. I couldn't just be happy with my nice x-plore 1.1 rom because my wifi stopped on me, and there's always the possibility that the "other rom" will be better, faster, etc. So, the latest official Wizard rom is this one, but its in German. So what to do? Try to get it to run in English, or as close a possible. In the end, I "almost" succeeded, and think I was on the right path, but the reality of needing a functional Wizard for daily life superseded, and I'm back to x-plore for now until the bug hits again. So, for those who want to pick up where I left off, here's what I learned:
How to get the thing running in English (pretty much).
First of all, you should be pretty comfortable flashing roms, and with the WM5-6 interface. This will help when you are confronted with a familiar icon with an unfamiliar label.
Step 1) Back up your old rom, in the likely event you get tired of the whole thing and want to go back the tried and true.
Step 2) Flash the new rom. (you know how to do this already, been there, done that, several times). I soft-reset before the extended rom loaded, so I don't know what that does.
Step 3) Using file explorer (look for the familiar icon, it's called datum-something), create a new subdirectory in the windows directory called "Start Menu", (no quotes), in this subdirectory put a shortcut to "fexplore.exe" which you'll find in the windows directory.
Step 4) Load a registry editor, and using it's search function, search for "MUI", anywhere you find keys with that name, replace any values you find of "407" or "1031", with "409" or "1033" respectively. Exit the registry editor, wait about 10 seconds, and do a soft reset.
When the machine reboots, you will see the interface has changed dramatically to mostly English, and is generally usable by English speakers who are familar with WM5-6. However, issues remain:
1) You will have to build your own start menu by copying the folders in the German one to the "Start Menu" folder you created above. You can copy and paste the whole programme and settings (I forget the German name) folders from one place to the other.
2) Change your region and time settings to correct values.
3) Connect with activesync as guest, and load your backup program, and backup your work so far to your sd card.
4) Next, you can rename all the shortcuts which remain in German (many will revert to English on their own), to English.
Now you can start loading programs and setting up as you'd like. If you re-synch with outlook, initially you will see Kalendar, etc for Calendar, but that goes away after a few times. You can use a tweak to change the left softkey label to English (the right one changes on its own).
Generally, I liked the clean interface, and it seemed pretty quick. I would have kept working on it except for the following: The interface between Pocket Informant and the phone app, didn't work. (I'm used to tapping on the phone number and the phone automatically dialing). This was the breaker for me, and I didn't have time to figure it out.
Other issues (that likely could be resolved): 1) The onscreen keyboard remains in German. You could load your own keyboard (Resco, Fitaly) and they work fine. Or you could probably copy the appropriate English version into the windows directory from an English rom. 2) The word completion and spell dictionaries are in German. I turned them off, but again you could probably copy English ones in. 3) You will need to copy the templates into a new "Templates" directory in order for the Office applications to be happy. 4) If you want the tray, etc, copy the shortcuts in the "Autostart" folder into a new "StartUp" directory
Well, thats about as far as I got with it. I think with enough time one could do an almost complete transformation. But maybe its easier to just wait for T-Mobile to give us the WWE edition down the road!
Regards,
Szegedi
