Very awesome guys, ive tried it and works 100%...

Only problem is that it interfears with the Text messages. It doesn't allow them to send every now and again.. It's not happening anymore though..

Did this happen to anyone else?

The registry in Black 2.0 still points to a beta URL for server token so my guess would be that Live in any current OS would get updated via Windows Update at proper launch but Live in Black does seem pretty final.

both url's are still in beta ;)... i had this confirmed by a mate.... but the Live apps and dll's in LSVW's lastest ROM and Black 2.0 are RTM (Release to Manufactor)

used GPRS and USB cable connection.. i can browse, live mail folders are syncd,

removed the check from sync options for contacts and messenger and tried getting online.. but its still a no go.. zero contacts on my list... but if i tried to add a contact it says that the contact is already on my list.

The reason I was not using new MSN Live messanger, becouse it automatically sync contact with my hotmail account, while I am using exchange server for contact management. I a, afraid it will endup as duplicated contacts and I have no idea how to prevent it. Is it still the problem, or M$ make sync contact on live messanger optional? I have 400 contact on outlook and using pushmail, and 200 contact in hotmail, and not all of them absolutely identical for different reason, so I can not merge it. Also if I merge some fields will disappear, as outlook support more property and biger notes. I do need messanger for IM, but not for contact management. Please advice.

This new version has a fix for syncing contacts and checking for duplicates. Not sure what it checks against yet but my first guess would be the first/last names on the contact, if it find a duplicate it will probably try to merge what is in outlook and what is in hotmail to make one contact. But I haven't tried it yet.

If your names are different then you'll probably end up with 600 contacts on your phone.

I know that this is more of a 'work-around' then a fix but I did have the same concerns about my contacts as you do.

What I did to get around it was; First: connect my Live Messenger account immediately after booting from a new Flash or Hard-reset, then Second: Connected my Exchange account and synced my contacts there. Live seems to only want to upload your contacts on first connect. After that it hasn't ever tried to really "Synchronize" (meaning make a copy of my contacts in both places) again. If there are not any contacts in your phone, (which there shouldn't be if you have just Flashed or Hard-reset), then there isn't anything for Live to sync on it's first connection.

Hope that at least helps you in the meantime, until something better comes along. :)

Does anyone have the .cab file ONLY for smartphone? I do not have a sync cable around for a couple days, and would like to install from my web server over the net. It looks like the installer won't extract the .cab until you hook up your device.

It is very difficult to have imaginary friends in Windows Live, I suggest adding some real ones ...... if this does not work then you might check the sync schedule. ;)

People using the old MSN Messenger - did you install this using the 2 separate installers (MSN2.2 and MSN2.3 Update I think) or did you use the Pocket MSN version? I tried the two separate cabs (don't wanna bloat up my phone with Pocket MSN that I won't use) yet it won't work, only the pocket msn version of msn messenger works?

Good old M$, can't seem to get rid of Wlive at all and from what I have seen on other posts including other PDA's they are having the same problem. I reflashed without the windows live and learned my lesson. The old MSN worked much better at least it would not cross my contacts and I could connect via wifi. Lesson learn. For any future ROM cooks it would be nice if this could be an added cab file and not included in the ROM.

i have no problem at all beta or final in black u.

sync worked fine. merge worked fine.

when using beta.... i deleted all contact in hotmail and inserted email 2 and IM address to my outlook contacts. syncd which didnt sync any

then in contacts through the menu item used add to live/messenger. worked perfect.

i now have a full 4 stage sync system (custom contact mgr database to outlook to pda to hotmail/live) and all works perfectly.

i love the sync system if u can work within the bounds of the systems in place rather than rebel against the limitations.

I have installed all the various WLM versions that have been released from Beta Non beta to the 10.12. something. The thing is none of them connects, either thru Gprs or Wifi. I keep getting message saying that data services blah blah cant be found. Pocket MSN logs in in a flash thru grprs. Any view/comments/help that ppl can give me why it is not working. That version (10.6.0026.1400) is the best yet so I assume it is the latest build but I dunno. It is newer than the latest beta thats for sure. :p

i cant belive they didnt add in the handwriting feature thou.. its a touchscreen app.. it seems so natural to have it

Anyway, to solve yr prob, goto yr messenger profile on yr PC and delete yr disp pic and nickname too.

Put the cab file to the pda with browser, and on the pda start it in file explorer.

i have extracted the files to a folder and transfer the folder to the PDA through a card reader. so there are alot of files in the cab file, which one do i click on to set up? do i have to click on all of them or just the setup.xml file is fine? and also do i need to restart my pda after i have install it?
sorry i just need some guidance cuz i have never install any such programs onto a WM phone before. i just need some steps on what to do so i will know what to do next time for similar files. thanks alot

i really don't get what the whole issue of contact sync is... the trick is to sync with outlook / exchange before you sign in for the first time with windows live...

i use to have problems saving changes to live contacts when i edited via "Contacts" on my pda... the trick is to edit it via the live messenger interface.

the new version is more stable and doesn't have the buggy "my contacts don't show up" problem.

I had the exact same problem today, from account options select switch account and re-enter your username & pwd. This solved the problem for me.

Actually I noticed yesterday, that signing in again helps. Only problem that it takes about 10 minutes to sign in again because of sync.

But... today I had same problem in the morning, all contacts seemed to be offline. Selected Switch account, signed in again, and there were contacts online. So looks like there's some problem, but don't know where.

This issue of connecting thru gprs will always exists. I think it was a understanding between MS and the telcos to boost their data revenue.

I have a strange problem.

All works once logged in, but when i go to the today screen, and open messenger again, it logs me out, and then I can only log back in after a soft reset.

Try and flash another ROM. Blacks are infamous for their buggy-ness, not only in the WLM aspect. =)
