I remember that this Space Invaders version is unplayable under Hermes cause when you advance it gets more and more quickier and controls doesn't runs.

The ROM seems to be really fantastic but I want to know the real build number :)

yeah, that happens sometimes when soud is enabled in space invaders.. but you normally have that disabled.. as the space invaders sound is more of a nosie :)

btw, do you have any last-minute wishes or request for good, lightweight applications to be included? and damnit, check out the new explorer ;)

Do you have a good RegEdit included? (I usually use the one built into TaskMgr but I donno if there's better free ones). I also often use Total Commander - haven't tried the new File Explorer you've inculded - maybe it's just as good (better) or at least does the things that MS's File Explorer doesn't that I need. :) These are all nice and easy enough for me to install - just mentioning them because other people might want them.

Other then that - I like the Hearts game that WMXL includes but I have no idea where to find that other then in that Rom (if anybody has a link I'd love to get it!)

Now all I need to do is make a damned cab that I can run to put my Name/Address/Phone/E-Mail back into the personal info on the phone - I'm reinstalling these roms way to frequently and it get's anonoying to have to keep putting it in time and again! :)

It can be fixed: install this cab.

This happens because Hearts is part of a pack and some games shares some sounds.

if you can give me the cab with the sounds i´ll include it in the rom..
if you got more small games/tools i´d love to include them, would be cool if they´re < 100kb tho..

i haven´t got a registry editior included as i thought it would of no use for the majority of people..

The cab with sounds is one post above yours :)

In fact, the pack includes these microsoft mini-games:

Blackjack.cab ...................... Blackjack
Chess.cab .......................... Chess
Cinco.cab .......................... Cinco
Freecell.cab ....................... Freecell
Hearts.cab ......................... Hearts
Minesweeper.cab .................... Minesweeper
Reversi.cab ........................ Reversi
Sink The Ships.cab ................. Sink The Ships
Space Defense.cab .................. Space Defense
Taipei.cab ......................... Taipei

But I don't know if all of them are shareware or not.

The only reason I'd lean to say they were is that the Hearts game was included in WMXL and he was pretty clear he only wanted to include free/shareware so I think they should be good though i don't know more then you do

Hey dutty,
Let's not overload this ROM with games and tools :D, I would like to use my 2 GB Storage Card. Anyway, hopefully it would come in two flavors (one with games and tools, and the other with just fixes and a few tools.).

Oh here's the TaskMgr I use (I think it's also built into a couple roms here). It's pretty nice - has lots of features built in (including regedit). You don't have to use it but thought I'd put it out there incase you hadn't included it and were looking for something of the sort :) There's no install - just run the exe! :D

I'm pretty sure that it will be shareware (at least, them are out of sell now) cause them comes with my old Compaq and are really old. So, here they are, for your viewing plasure. but I think that the ROM will contain as less as possible to achieve free storage.

I like the tetris you have - hearts that have been posted. The freecell I posted is known freeware and works fine but the MS version that Viva has quite possibly might look better (I don't image game play of Freecell changes much) - haven't tried it. I also often play the MS Cubical Caos which is a purdy breakout clone from MS. I think it's kind of large in size which is why I haven't suggested it. Too bad Age of the Empires doesn't run on the Hermes (and isn't free either - it came with my HP 4155 and I used to play it for ages).

Just installed the freecell included in the Old MS games pack and it is very similar to the one I've included plus is a little smaller. If you include Freecell, you might as well use the MS one since it shares sounds with the other games in that pack!

I generally agree - I enjoy uncluttered roms myself (so I can then clutter them myself!). However, this is Dutty's cake he's cooking and he'll use what ingredience he wants - if you don't like Pineapple - don't eat the cake! I posted the games I use because he asked - if he installs them great (saves me the install) if he doesn't no biggy - only takes me a minute to reinstall the games I use! :)

I do fear that the cooks get turned off when too many people start telling them what they should/n't use in their rom. If they ask for opinions give them. If you have a suggestion that hasn't been made already suggest it. But when everybody starts going crazy - what's the phrase, too many cooks spoil the rom? :D

Just my 3 cents worth (I know - that's 50% more then I should be giving!)

the real build number is a little lower then whats currently out..
but i still like to release this rom as it´s really snappy and no show stopper has been found (yet).

if i notice that there is a show stopper i could port my whole rom to another base within a few hours.

apps i cook are generally really small, like freecell - it´s like 50kb, thats not really eating up storage space.
i mainly started this rom to test the koch v2, but it´s become a really great rom :)

Open Task Manager.

dutty: just a suggestion.

stick all the files in the rom by all means, (i assume you know not to copy them with initflashfiles.dat adn to use them from the windows dir) but leave the shortcuts out and have them as optional cab files to 'enable them'.

Man...give us some evidnece, that all builds are based on vanilla...othewise stfu.
i´ll give oyu some prove that builds are different, it´s easier :)

ok i used the file gwes.exe (the window handler of windows ce ) as comparision because i am sure they often change that file.
file#1 is lvsw 26th march and file#2 is obviously my unreleased rom.
i compared the first xip stream (file is attached)

here is a part of the xip imageinfo from lvsw:
Module name: gwes.exe
e32_objcnt: 00000004
e32_imageflags: 0000012F
e32_entryrva: 000070EC
e32_vbase: 00010000

e32_subsysminor: 00000002
e32_stackmax: 00010000
e32_vsize: 000FA000

here is it from my rom:

Module name: gwes.exe
e32_objcnt: 00000004
e32_imageflags: 0000012F
e32_entryrva: 0000709C

e32_subsysminor: 00000002

Well we will all be happy to believe you. Once Dutty has release his rom, please do enlighten us with HARD PROOF that it is from the same build as LSVW, Vanilla and Black. I don't see how you can make such accusations when he has not even released the file yet!

He thinks, that ALL BUILDS (LVSW, BLACK, WMXL...) are based on the Vanilla build...not only dutty's...

I try myself, but I don't have the guts to put something up for fear my work will destroy more than just my phone (haven't fried it yet, but I'm trying).

What does it matter, the build number? If the build works, doesn't fry the phone, receives calls, and does all the other groovy stuff that these god-scratch that, HTC-forsaken machines do...

...then YAY DUTTY.

He's already contributed a GREAT deal to this entire website with his knowledge of how our HTC-forsaken machines work with our Microsoft-forsaken OS.

Why cause trouble? Why create tension?

We're all playing here, and this swingset is for everyone...

wrong again... :P was based on vanilla ;)

I stand corrected. I thought he had a rom that was leaked to him that he was working on but didn't want to release because it had traces to who leaked it so when Vanilla was released he moved his mods over to it and released the first release but after that, a number of builds had been leaked and he got the go ahead it was ok to use his first rom so he used it for the second release.

WMXL v0.20 no longer uses the Vanilla Rom as it's base. I have been given the okay to release using my Original Base Rom

but maybe there was something I was missing :) No biggy - I'm not known to be the smartest guy in the room (and I live alone)

How about StopTime and MagicButton and also Total Commander?

stoptime?
magicbutton is not necessary, the HTC x-button app is included.
totalcommand is also not that important, the new explorer is functionwise and GUI wise better. the missing registry feature is not that bad because we have the taskman, that comes with a very good regedit! besides resco regedit it´s the only regeditor that can import regfiles :)

Hard time not to flame shafez... but what to do about a old man that claims he's 44 and acts like a 4yo.... I am wondering what great contributions he has made. Where can I find his totally original rom images ? Perhaps a bug report ? Even a helpfull sugestion ?

Anyway intresting stuff for in a rom image:
I like InClose mobile as a taskmanager.
Task+ and agenda+ are nice improvements on de standard today plugins
although i tend to go for pocketbreeze
as mentioned by others total comander is a very nice explorer / reg editor

I forgot to mention batti :)

StopTime - http://home.comcast.net/~jonsachs/

I personally like Magic Button as I use it to switch between apps. And it has the very nice battery indicator as a line at the top of the screen in all apps. It my opinion that Magic button has more functionality. But I might be missing something in HTC x-button. To me its the combination of functions.

On the issue of the explorer... I guess I'll have to see it and play with it a bit to decide. I like the combination of functions in Total Commander (File, Registry, Lan)

Thanks Dutty - I too am looking forward to this release and also your next Rom Koch.

Have a few questions about this rom:
1) Is it beta? If not then
2) will the wifi bubble be fixed, or will the work around be applied?
3) Is this build the closest to the final completion of wm6 or is it just a build that was never released??

Thanx!

Been using Black 2.0 for a couple a days now. The default page size of 6MB has been giving me alot of memory issues with the Widcomm BT Stack.

Not sure if this goes for this ROM aswell.

Dutty, here you go, posted below.

On a separate note, I would also vote for the inclusion of InClose (CAB posted by someone in an earlier post) as a better option than either the HTC x-button app or MagicButton. I have tried them all and this seems the most complete and elegant implementation of the x-close + task switcher concept.

Thanks for the excellent work and ruining my family's Easter plans by keeping me glued to the PC...;)

Age of Empires Gold Edition from around 2002 is working fine on my 8525 with WMBE 2.0. It didn't work on Black 1.0 or 1.2 though.

That's weird - that's the version I have - just tried loading it again and still doesn't work :S Maybe it's because it came on a SD/MMC card which was locked down to keep you from copying files off it. Linux didn't seem to have any problems copying it I thought but maybe it did?
