OK, I'm trying to get this ROM to work on my 8525, all seems good, but I can't get a gprs connection established. I've tried running the Cingular settings cab, and inputting the settings myself, but as soon as it tries to connect, the phone freezes, and I have to do a soft reset.
Anyone have any ideas, this is the first ROM that I've seen this problem with.

;) the build numbers dont really count now, since dutty will have performed MANY mods on the ROM (in the cooking process) to make it even better the build number is invalid now. The real build is actually "6.0dutty" and i can imagine the next one will be 6.1 etc....
the CE version number is the real clincher

The build number is the build number and it clearly indicates which version of the kernel was used as base. I don't believe that the cooker rebuilt the kernel of the OS.

Yeah, I'm having the same problems with Gprs connection even reflashed off a hard reset.....any insight or fix'd be great.
Interestingly, the face button freezes the device, manually going to settings and connecting works.
Perhaps using a different button for IE.

Whats the point of altering the build number?
build number, version number, any number as far as it is concern for the ROM are important for most of the developers and debuggers..
if you want credits then put your name somewhere else from the "about", maybe below the number.. besides some text.. after the other word.. not in the build version..
it make people confuse..
as far as i know the latest build is 5.2.1413..

Exactly. I mean, the ROM isn't based off CE 6.0, otherwise this would be Photon.

These ppl trying hard to obtain the latest OS build and trying to make it available to us in the XDA community..I am sure there are some kind the "risk" because MS might go after them... We should appreciate these people's hard work instead of arguing with the verions number here. The version number really doesn't matter to us as long as it runs in our hermes smoothly. Why would we care about just some text numbers? If not these great ppl, we are still running the buggy WM5 in our hermes.

i don´t know the cause of the internet explorer problem and i don´t think there is a quick fix to it, microsoft probably broke something in the browsingcore in this build. if this is no show stopper for you, you can still use opera :) ok, next release.. soon!

Not possible, I can't access the SD card anymore. It's anyway not booting anymore. When I put in the battery the tri-color screen appears with SPL 1.40, that's it. I can't even switch it off/on anymore. The power button does not work anymore. Hard or soft reset gives me the tri-color screen. If I try to flash a ROM with RUUWrappper, I get the 260 connection error.
I have flashed many ROMs before. Never happened before. I wonder it's related to this ROM, or something else went wrong.

You'll have to fix it using the MS PB..(platform builder) in KITL mode. Hold down the com manager and hard reset...if you can see the KITL mode..you are in good shape...then just follow the wiki..

First of all,
We're not worthy!!! (from Wayne's World Movie). Thanks for the gift of your time and talent. I will show my appreciation with a donation.
In regards to the IE issue, I also experimented with the same issue as reported by Webhmaster. I could not even stop the application. I went to programs --> System --> Reset Device (great tool) and after soft-resetting my devide and I able to use IE and navigate using activesync.
if a soft-reset does not work, perform a hard reset. Your data will be back when you sync. You will need to re-install your apps.
To hard reset the tytn/8525:
Hard reset: hold both soft buttons while pushing the stylus into the reset hole.
or
hold down the two soft keys and power the device on.
So far this version of the ROM is impressive.

May I humbly suggest that we just let Oli, LVSW and Dutty handle this between them. The rest of us should probably not get involved unless we actually KNOW something, rather than speculating. Especially throwing out bullshit accusations like addind and then deleting cab's and stuff. C'mon. Let the guys who actually have a stake inthe discussiopn handle it. At least, that is my suggestion.

That is right!! What we really care is have a great community taht all of us share information and make a better ROM every week!!
Actually I prefer a clean version of ROM and put the rest as CAB files for personal choice... I think many of you will agree on that! Like I careless of VoIP because Cingular's 8525 will not work...

From what im aware of the BB connect problem is due to the build number, black 2.0 and XDA Live have this hex editted to 5.1.195 so it shall work with BB connect.

Anyone using TCPMP or Coreplayer could you see if the ATiImageon device is available (I havent got the option!?!?!? only directdraw and the usual others)
EDIT:: quick update, installing sleuth's ati fix has no effect :( (directdraw still works a treat though, ATI is better dammit :D)

I would hate to see this forums trning into a war zone, especia;;y as late ihink this forum is one of the best educational and tutorial place ive been and will never leave. there are so many great chefs in this forum and i hate to see them arguing< whether its a general mistake or not i would love to see JJ, DUTTY, KYPHUR, LSVW and all who contributes mainly in supporting our devices come together and build one greaat rom which we could call
{ xda unite 4 us v6 ] which symbolises all the members in xda.
I call on dutty and lsvw to sort this out between themselves and hopefully these two great rom cookers will unite again.

Trying to get back to topic. Aside from the IE bug that I found, another bug is when I installed InClose as a task manager the phone application would fail to come up. Well, more correctly, it would come up but there would be no buttons or call list. Just a gray screen. I have come to like InClose. I used to use Magic button but the overlay always messed up my icons at the top. PBar would miss a lot applications when I would close them and have other oddities. The built in task closer does not have a task manager to switch between apps.
InClose is a great solution but will not work on this ROM. I should point out that the only flaw I see with InClose is that its a bit big size wise.
I have attached it for testing purposes.

Have noticed that the RAM allocation is much better in this OS version...after all my appz installed I have about 24-25MB ram free...and after a day of usage the RAM drained only about 0,5mb...that is impressive if compared to other OS WM6 built...nice done dutty! :)
Noticed also that PhoneAlarm (1.58) with some skins that allow direct WIFI on/off does not work...it maybe the new Com manager that affect this...the shortcuts in the PA skin could be wrong...and also have some issue with PA beta...my phone rang but no incoming call bubble only the Signal bar (on the top) was showing an incoming calll...of course this is a PA issue ;)

Had same issue with PA and WIFI - it is the new comm manager - although I think it can be fixed by the chefs.
Which beta are you using - so far I have found 1.6b3 to be the most stable. I have played around with versions up to 10 so far but went back to 3 today.

Using the b10...but will go back to 1.58. Although the ROM is the fastest right now and it is also at least as stable as Black 2.0...

Just run this REG file on your Hermes and you'll be able to switch WiFi by using PhoneAlarm
(It's a question of buttons alignment in CommManager window)

The IE bug is horrible, I have tried all 3 versions. IE is sometimes working sometimes not, some sort of random approach. In the worst case it's freezing, same with all versions. Then, when it works, I can't get a GPRS connection, it tries a few seconds and then freezes.

A promising rom, but too many werid things! Firstly, I thought my battery was bad with Black 2.0 but with this rom, it seemed worse... also my vario frooze a few times when connecting to the internet and my push email notifications seemed some what slow!
On the positive side, its a very fast and IMO has probably the best memory management out of all current versions.
I look forward to the next release, but until then I'm going back to LVSWs!
Despite the problems I encountered, its a great rom! thanks dutty ;)

Nice release, also experiencing the IE problem. I also seem to be stuck on 3G network, can't move to just GSM, I get the error 'data in call' try again later. Problem is that when on 3G my battery won't even last a day with push email and maybe 20min phone talk time, no BT, no wifi. Otherwise, nice release, can't wait for future releases.

At first, thanks for dutty's work.
I need czech keyboard so I am using method that the customized file sym.409.txt is copied into the directory /windows on TyTN. But this ROM version ignored this file.
I am using LVSW last two versions and everything works well there.
Could it be solved, please?
And is anywhere foreign files for no english wm6 hinting?

I haven't tun into the ie problems ... and i've been using it for a while... but i also prefer opera mobile browser (i highly suggest it cuz the webpage layouts are 10x better than with ie)
However, i have had issues with the phone dialer. Every so often, if i open the phone dialer to call, it goes to the dialer program but i don't see any buttons!?. they are practically invisible. They are still there cuz when i press down on where the buttons are supposed to be, the number shows up. But its just a blank grey page. I have to soft-reset frequently to get it back. Anyone else having these issues?

That would be very nice, because this ROM is very fast. I have quite intensively tested it over the last 2 days and found though that not only IE has the tendency to "hang", requiring frequent soft resets. I have tried all versions, and it's the same "behavior", so I guess it's related to the OS itself. :D Looking forward to a revision.
Another issue, as mentioned above, is the phone dialer: Sometimes the buttons disappear.

Precisely and exactly the same issues here with all 3 versions. And because this is rendering WM core functions useless, the ROM is not yet "usable". But it's fast, it has potential. :D I am looking forward to test a bugfixed revision.

Has anyone found a fix for the keybaord lag and dropping letters? Its either a ROM issue... or hardware... if its hardware... im beginning to get REALLY annoyed with this phone. I never ran into this problem with the wizard/MDA/8125
For ex: If I wanted to type "Hey Whats going on!"
I would immediately start typing after i pull the keyboard out, and it would lag. Then when the letters catch up, it would look something like:
"Hy Whts going on!" (more or less)
In order for me to prevent this, i have to actually wait for it to go landscape, then another 2 seconds or so, then start typing. I've read in other forums to either decrease the word suggestions to 3 or omit the feature overall. I didn't see a difference. I have mine now set to off, and it still drops letters.

I'm starting to think it's a hardware issue. It happens to me all the time, no matter what ROM. I've had two TyTN's now, and each one of them have experienced this. The first TyTN only had WM5 on it, and it had that issue. On both of mine, I also get, the screen going dark, then coming back on, or what REALLY pisses me off, is after awhile of texting, the keyboard stops responding! Nothing will fix it besides a soft reset. THAT is a hardware issue. My first TyTN was an HT636, this one is a HT630.

Well this happens on a even on fresh reboot. I could really care less about lag, as long as when it catches up, the it doesn't drop letters. I have the HTC Tytn / Cingular 8525. Its almost as if it has to stabilize after it switches to landscape, before it can accept any letters that you press (accurately)
I also have the T-mobile MDA (Vario, k-jam, wizard) which runs the same rom as the Cingular 8525. However, even though its half the processor speed, and even if i have programs running in the background, the most it would do is just lag, but i can continue typing out my entire message. After some time, the lettes catch up with my fast typing, but it DOESN'T DROP A SINGLE LETTER. Which is why it is so frustrating with the new device HTC Tytn/Cingular 8525 and all similar devices. Its like this device took two steps forward, then TEN steps backward... a HUGE burden... i hate having to wait 2-3 seconds when i have to text or punch in a number in the To: section of the text field when i pull out the keyboard...

I haven't tried that yet. How would i go about doing that? But this a problem that MANY people have and there have been other posts about it, and no resolution (aside from removing auto word fill; which doesnt really help). I've noticed this problem only with the custom wm6 roms.

the info for all you need is in the wiki .
it is know that if you have a bad block and a file is occupying the area it will create problems because the operation system my not be able to read the file correctly or at all, this is similar to hardrives with bad blocks...as far as i know.

Hi, I upgraded to dutty's WM6 on my spv m3100, but dont seem to get any sms reports, I made sure it was ticked in the options menu, also checked the registry, even tried using sms provider cab VM to see if that helped and SMSDRfix for WM5, but still no luck

I have had the blank phone keypad problem on and off since upgrading to this release. I would say other then the already mentioned IE issue, its the only other 'bug' I have encountered with this build. Every time I encounter the blank phone dialer pad, I have to soft reset which is a pain, sometimes one soft reset does not resolve it and two are required.

Not sure where I should report this, but on my vanilla tytn, the camera software is pretty buggy. Sometimes black screen, other times I get weird overlays of half a photo once it's taken.
regardless, appreciate the effort dutty, as always.

;) the build numbers dont really count now, since dutty will have performed MANY mods on the ROM (in the cooking process) to make it even better the build number is invalid now. The real build is actually "6.0dutty" and i can imagine the next one will be 6.1 etc....
the CE version number is the real clincher
Since he went out of his way to say that this Rom is based on a different build than the other ROM's which are out there, it'd be nice to see which build he's talking about.
Also, the Wiki suffers because he's hidden this information. We can't review the various roms to pick the one which started with the newest code.

That sounds like you are accidentally in the Panorama mode to me. The icon looks like a piece of filmstrip or a bridge.
Panorama mode is cool, you take one picture and it puts part of the right hand side of the picture as an overlay on the left to help you line up your next shot. After taking 3 pictures like this (from left to right, using the overlay to line things up...) it gives you a nice panoramic picture.
The quality isn't the best, but it's a neat feature none the less.

When using Duttys ROM (vanilla/med/full) the entire unit freezes after approx 3 secs when trying to connect to internet. I am able to send/receive MMS via gprs (which uses the same technology except different accesspoint.
I've download the Hermes WM6 vanilla rom, all is OK. I also tried the Black 2.0 & Black 2.5 rom, again all is OK.
I'd really like to use dutty's rom, but without access to the internet, I'm lost!
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

hi, all,
I upgraded my X01HT to dutty's WM6 last weekend. My general comment is that the performance is very good when compared with WM5 but I found the my phone will freeze sometimes when I am using SMS (around 5-6 times for the past 2 days). Anyone has the same problem?
Apps installed in my phone:-
- CE-Star 2.8 R3
- Phonoalarm 1.6.2
- SPB Phonesuite 1.0
- SPB backup 1.6
- Resco Explorer 6
- WebIS Pocket Informant 2007

At first, thanks for dutty's work.
I need czech keyboard so I am using method that the customized file sym.409.txt is copied into the directory /windows on TyTN. But this ROM version ignored this file.
I am using LVSW last two versions and everything works well there.
Could it be solved, please?
And is anywhere foreign files for no english wm6 hinting?
Weird thing is I have made the follwoing changes to my registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
"Default"="e0030411"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]
"Default"="e0030411"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
"Layout"="197649"
The above regEdits worked before with the SB ExtROM but then I would get
that stupid white screen requesting the SIM unlock code so I reflashed the
phone again with NO SB ExtROM but now even after do the regEdit again I
still get a messed up KB layout.
Is there some trick to fixing this?
