my guess is that happens if either the carousel registry settings are missing, or you are missing all the pngs. I have both on mine just now so I can't differentiate. Did you have both the pngs and all the reg entries last time?

But interestingly DllRegisterServer means that loadlibrary did succeed.

do you have a full list of the reg entries that need to be made. I have added the 2 that were suggested back on page 2 in the /clsid key.

one interesting thing that i noticed is that when i boot up my phone with the card wheel homescreen selected, i see "Loading..." in the lower right smartbutton area of the screen. anyone else seeing this?

yup...I tried it a few times and i only see the "Loading..." on bootup. I suspect I'm not quick enough (to get to the home screen) when i just change homescreens through the menu.

I know absolutely nothing about this, just thought i would mention that before i say anything.

I have been playing around with my I600 for the last couple of nights. While i was looking through the windows folder i noticed 2 interesting things.

1) There is an exe file called CheckHome seems a weird name might be related.

2) The orange homescreen seems to be an exe file called MobilePortal. Lets say i am in resco and back on my homescreen i have a standard homescreen. If in resco i run the MobilePortal.exe it brings up the orange homescreen but it is actually an app and i can close it down with task manager.


Just wondering whether it is not just xml's and dll's we need to be checking for the carousel homescreen, which to be clear is not on my phone. I seem to have all the files for it but no xml. When i add it in i get the white screen when selected.

I've just managed to flash my Italian (TIM) i600 (i600AIGB1) with i600XXGA2. It works perfect and has the carousel :)

So here are the steps:

1. Execute the 'BJ3Open_Rev15_XXGA2.exe' file from your PC
(Please note, do not connect the device to the phone yet.)
2. Make sure the device is powered off and then connect to PC via USB cable.
3. Change the device to "Downloader mode" by holding down the power key, right side soft key (RSK) and the Camera key on the right hand side of your phone together.

4. Press the Start button on the 'BJ3Open_Rev15_XXGA2.exe' application, you'll see it run through some tests and start to transfer the ROM.
5. Wait until the process is done.
6. In case of failed downloading, you just need to re-flash again.

Right guys, just as a follow up to my post about the orange homescreen.

I have been able to get the I600 orange homescreen working on my I320.

As i already stated above, the orange homescreen has a few parts to it. It has the xml file. The dll file that needs to be registered, and it has an exe file. If you just run the exe from resco or something then it opens the homescreen as an app that can be closed.

Has anyone checked to see whether the Samsung homescreen has an app or anything that we have been missing.

The orange dll looks like it must be loading the exe within it.

-i600 is european frequencies + wifi
-i607 is usa frequencies and no wifi

All I can say is you need to give it a try ;) I flashed the entire rom, including Radio to my Blackjack and the radio's would not work, not BT, or GPRS however the PDA function of the Bjackjack worked just fine. I did run into another issue though...

On the Cingular Blackjack, when you do an update, you go into Start > Settings > Data Connections and Select "USB" then you shut down the device, and connect it to the computer.

With the i600 ROM the "USB" option does not exist so I had no way to get the "Blackjack" rom update tool to connect to the device so I could reflash back with the released Samsung update. The Samsung update looked for Com 5 and the i600 update tool looked for Com 6.

So be aware if you flash with the i600 ROM, you very possibly will not be able to flash back with the Samsung i607 Update. At least I was not able to figure it out....

you know, thinking about it now, the one thing I did not try was using the i600 updater (the one that allows you to select the portion you want to upgrade) and point it to the extracted Samsung i607 udpdate. That might have worked to reflash... but not sure

Somewhere in this thread is a link to a "fixed" version of the i600 rom. Along with that rom is an installer that allows you to select only the portions of the rom that you want to update. So you can select PDA and point it to the main .nbh file and it will not update the bootloader or the radio. make sense?

Well the big question I have is "Was it the radio update that killed the radio?" I am actually wondering if since they are different chipsets they have different drivers in the /windows direcotry to allow the OS to recognize and use the radio so it is very possible just updating the PDA portion will still cause the radio's to be non-responsive.

What I would really love to see is Samsung release this application formallly for Blackjack owners either as a stand alone update or in the WM6 release.

That's what i was thinking too...I realized there most likely is a driver in the pda portion of the rom and with the i600 driver on a i607 device i'll hose myself either way.

I think i decided to back off for now :P

Hello everybody,

I have flashed from a French version (I600GCXX4) on my SGH-i600 to a USA operator download v1.2 (SGH-i607) for Xcingular Blackjack.

Why you may ask... I just wanted to see the I 607 version 's differences before to flash with the I600GCXX6.

During the flash process, everything was OK. The 3 digit counter kept running, before i removed the battery.

Now, I lost the wifi, all the sound, the bluetooth etc....

Also, I can not connect at all, no Activesync, no explorer.... Nothing.

When I try the Bootloader mode, I have only :
*USB Downloader-Xcingular V1.2
[Phone] Active OFF

I have tried to download the modem driver and lot of things but I can do nothing. The phone is not detected by my computer on USB.

I think that I have to replace the boot loader! Perhaps with the MicroSD....

Can someone please help me!

You won't be able to get radio's woking. The reason is that the Blackjack and the i-600 use different radio chipsets and the Operating system has different drivers installed. So basically your Blackjack rom is looking for Blackjack radios however your phone actually has i-600 radio.

You can try this, go to Start > Settings > Connections > Data Connections and choose USB. then shut the phone off, connect it to the laptop and put it into bootloader mode. If that doesn't work, then I am afraid you are out of luck my friend.

What you are experiancing is the exact reverse of what happened when I flashed my Blackjack with the i-607 ROM. You probabaly should have read through the last few pages of posts to realize this wasn't a good idea :(

radio chipset encompasses all those functions...fact that the gsm portion works does not surprise me at all as it's the only thing those two phones have in common on the radio chipset.

Hmmmm... sorry to say it but the 320 has an Intel PXA processor, while the i600 has a TI OMAP. The OMAP is speculated to be the main reason we can't flash i600 firmware on other devices.
Good idea though, the i320 looks much nicer than the i600 imo (faster processor too).

I have followed this thread with some interest as I have a UK orange branded i600, which seems to have all the carousel software but it is disabled.

Is there a way that we can extract the registry? I am sure that there is just a setting somewhere that we need to add/edit to get this to work.

If we can extract it then if someone can provide me with one from a working i600 I will compare it with mine and see if I can find the difference.

That´s a good idea - I recently sold my HTC TyTn and got my self a i600. The only thing I miss from my TyTn is a good navigation software and XDA forum. I haven´t found one single forum for samsung i600 that is woth to mention :)

Not to be a Hard A** but if you had read this thread, you would have found out that very issue. I was the first to flash my i607 with the i600 rom and I found no way for it to recognize the USB after the flash. In effect, your BJ is worthless now :(

I can´t understand why anyone would want it ? I have been using my i600 for two weeks and I found the card wheel cool for one day but when I tried Facade I realised that it really sucked. Nothing can compare with running Facade and some nice skin.

Yeah :) The only thing that made me keep my TyTn as long as I did was this forum. Without the knowledge and support in this forum the TyTn would have been a real expensive piece of garbage :) I do not regret getting myself a i600, it works super. But this forum got me hooked even though I don´t own a HTC phone anymore and don´t think I ever will

basically, i come from the world of the Himalaya, i have flashed it from a orange french version (spv m1000) to the undergroung but great wm2005 rom (thx buzzz and tofclok if you read this)...now i search a new toy (the i600) because qtecks 2020 are deprecated but before i will buy it, a question runs in my bread, can we replace the orange french rom by the european samsung rom (it's only a question of price, lower when you buy it with a operator retail than if you buy it by the registrar of the brand samsung), if yes and i real suppose it, tomorrow i will be the owner of this new "pet"...and at last but not leat if you would mind giving a url to download the latest rom from the samsung (i supose it's the i600xxgc or maybe a wm2006), it will be great....Strange i'm come back on xda for a samsung, this site is georgouse....sorry for the spelling and the writing, i'm a horrible french count !!! thx everybody

Ive installed this Active UI program on my HTC s620, Unfortunately it doesn't come with the carousel wheel home screen and there is no option to download it, you can download others for about 1-2 Euro but no carousel :(

Not yet - the closest anyones come to it is reflashing an i607 (blackjack) to an i600 (Euro unlocked). This, however, would be a bad idea, as people who did this no longer have functioning radios or usbs.

A buddy of mine just upgraded to the WM6 AT&T rom for the Blackjack and now he has a customizable application that pops out from the side when he presses the scroll wheel while in the home screen. Does that sound like the app? if so Try the new ROM.

I read ev'ry page of this 3D. And the only thing I understood is that what all of us want to do is almost (?!) impossible, certainly very hard.

I upload my Carousel files got from ppcgeeks.com (http://www.ppcgeeks.com).

This is the list of what's in the file attachment:

PS: I tried ev'rything yet described in the previous posts, and I got the same results: "7e" error for "Carousel.dll", successful registering of "CarMpPlg.dll", and the flashing appearing of "Loading" when I reboot after selected the "Carousel.home.xml", and the (obvious) blank screen.

PPS: I used these programs to register the dlls:
- regsvr_arm.exe,
- regsvrce.exe,
- WM5_REGSVRCE.EXE.

The only thing I don't have done is to added manually the registry setting found in the "Qtek8500.Cingy.carousel.zip". BTW, someone in this 3D has yet added these keys without succes, so I don't think this is the reason why the Carousel Homescreen doesn't work.

Unfortunately no, I was never able to fix the problem. The i600 and i607 use different radios and different USB drivers, once you flash teh i607 with the i600 rom the PDA portion of the phone works but that is it. :(

Carousel aka Card Wheel plugin is part of AKU 3.4 and not a special feature of Samsung i600

Hello everybody,

I have flashed from a French version (I600GCXX4) on my SGH-i600 to a USA operator download v1.2 (SGH-i607) for Xcingular Blackjack.

Why you may ask... I just wanted to see the I 607 version 's differences before to flash with the I600GCXX6.

During the flash process, everything was OK. The 3 digit counter kept running, before i removed the battery.

Now, I lost the wifi, all the sound, the bluetooth etc....

Also, I can not connect at all, no Activesync, no explorer.... Nothing.

When I try the Bootloader mode, I have only :
*USB Downloader-Xcingular V1.2
[Phone] Active OFF

I have tried to download the modem driver and lot of things but I can do nothing. The phone is not detected by my computer on USB.

I think that I have to replace the boot loader! Perhaps with the MicroSD....

Can someone please help me!

its done you cant reflash without the port so its over i look at card wheel if the port worked i would just hook itup and see how it works on my i607

Any solution ? I have the same problem.

Try this,

Turn on your i600 and go to Start > Settings > connections > Data and make sure that "USB" is selected. You will be prompted with a warning, hit ok then Shut down your phone.

Now put your phon in bootloader mode and connect it to your laptop, see if the OS recognizes it. If not, you might need to get the drivers from the Cingular CD that ships with every Blackjack.

yea i did the exact opposite with my i607 and no it wont work the ports change in eather the software or the actual hardware but there done for now or until there can be a way to use the port only in bootloader which i cant

the only one new thing i've discovered is...
Carousel aka Card Wheel plugin is part of AKU 3.4 and not a special feature of Samsung i600

So why is it not prsent or working on any other AKU3.4 or above (WM6) landscape smartphone?

wow somthing weird load any other theme besides card wheel with all else default your theme color should be black now load cardwheel and dont restart yet look at your theme color it should still be black now restart when you restart the colors will change to purple and grey and you will notice the loading icon i know thats been noticed but all i see is progress being made let me know if the same hapens or had been noticed before

wow i lovve my i600, the carousel card wheel is awesome to use. looks really funky and professional. this is the future of smartphones people!

battery life is quite good (2 days without charging) for a smartphone, and they give an extra batt with an external charger, so thats awesome! also i love listening to my 1 gig music library, thru A2dp wireless bluetooth on my headset, better than an ipod in that sense, no wires!!!

however , the only MAJOR drawback i have is with skype, it locks up after the first call and i have remove the battery.
apart from this major flaw, (which is prob on the side of skype), this is the BEST phone i have ever used! and all for us$400 with 1 yr warranty, what more could u ask for? apart from the skype-related issue, it never ever locks up.

ps: the 3G video call camera also doesnt work too well under low-light situations, but works amazing outdoors...

Yes, you can change your Orange Rom by the european samsung i-600 rom. But be carefull with the US blackjack rom (it's not realy compatible with the european model unless you will say byebye to your wifi....)...If you choose the european, no problem, everything is working nice, language is automatically detected, caroussell mode is perfect...just a little tip :
you need to use win Xp to do the upgrade (not working under vista) and if you will update the phone version, inside the rom pack, there is a folder named modem, you need to install it under windows....if else you will have just have the main rom and the boot loader which will be upgrade !!! Enjoy !!!

As far as i know: this is the latest eu rom (install the driver modem from the pack, by this way, the radio rom will equally update)

Ok guys flashed successfully but a small problem

PDA Version: i600XXGD1
Phone Version: i600BVGD2
Eboot Version: i600XXGD1

As you can see the Phone Version hasn't changed but everything else has!

I did what Jahm said to do and installed the Modem Driver but I keep getting a Port Jump Fail Error.

But other than that phone seems to be working fine.

I did try to flash it a few times with the same result. Gona try again tomorrow and see if the Phone Version changes.

The WM6 upgrade has Switzerland in its parameters. So all fine as long as you choose Switzerland and your operator (Sunrise, Orange or SW)

To select your country/operator:

select preconfig
password *#81230*#
choose Switzerland and your operator (for GPRS & MMS settings + config)

Your device will restart with the correct settings.

Hello... Perhaps someone here might help me out. I have Samsung i600 with i600BUGC3 software version of WM5 on it and I would like to upgrade to WM6. I tried to use 'xippon's' method as it was described on MoDaCo but I get stuck on the first step. It says that I need to load a clean firmware (WM5) first and that I should download it from their wiki site. However even though I follow the instructions to the letter the upgrade says (when I click start) 'choose an image to download' What is that? Does anybody have any explanation or another way I can install wm6 onto this device?

I have Win XP, did kill activesync, install the drivers and did all other works by the book...

After install I delete the ccore.dll which basically means it reverts to the original ccore.dll which is already in ROM. After doing this I didnt get the blank screen but NO Card Wheel. I think what is missing is the mui file specifically for Card Wheel. Can someone have a look at the dump ROM if there is such a file. I have cmhomeres.dll.mui.0409 in my current WM6.1. The other related files are

CHOME.............................Card Wheel (I believe the equivalent)
cmhome.dll .............................carousel.dll
cmhomeres.dll.............................carousel res.dll
cmhomeres.dll.mui.0409................the missing link??

hey i also tried the cab and all i get is the blank screen. my girlfriend has an i600 and i have a i320 and ever since i saw the card wheel on her phone i wantd it. plz help us out were hungry for it! maybe i can try and find the mui file u lookn for in the meantime? and for the people who do have the files and cant copy it, try using the Total commander file explorer instead of the built in one... the built in file explorer doesnt allow u to copy protectd files. thanks for all the hard work
