restart your device... :)
as in a soft reset...

There is a list of ActiveSync error codes/messages on the MS web site and the ones that relate to your error message are:
0x85020006 - Cannot connect with current connection settings.
To change your connection setting, tap Settings. This error code is typically caused by not having a valid network or modem connection set up. Check your connection settings, and then try to synchronize again.
0x8502000B - Cannot connect with current connection settings.
To change your connection setting, tap Settings. Typically, this error code is caused by not having a valid network or modem connection set up. Check your connection settings, and then try to synchronize again.
Go to Start | Programs | ActiveSync, then when Activesync loads, go to Menu | Options and you'll see the Exchange Server sync details - tap on Settings | Next, then the Advanced button and you'll see what connection the server is configured to use....it should be "Internet". If it's not, then you probably need to re-configure the whole Exchange Activesync set up.
EDIT: ....assuming Walshieau's suggestion of a soft reset doesn't sort it :)
HTH,
Mark.

I did a soft reset as walshieau suggested, it didn't fix it.
Double checked the stetting to make sure it is on "internet" as Mark Crouch suggested, it didn't fix it.

i found after about 20 hours, this started happening to me too. only outlook though. IE worked fine.
quitting activesync then rechecking my email fixed it.
even though that isn't what this thread stated, it gave me the idea :) thanks Mark Crouch :)

Got it...
First make sure the settings are correct for your device.
The connection that must be used is "the internet" not your 3G connection.

If you receive the error messege "Cannot connect with current connection" disconnect your USB cable. For me the error was caused by active sync

He might mean, go to:
settings> connections > connections > advanced > select network >
And set both of the two options to whatever your main 3G connection is called.

When I go to select network I have 3 options
Media net (which is set right now)
Work

Then below that I have another 3 options

So both accounts are set up on Media net but I still can't connect. Any other ideas?

Yeah I am with ATT. I think what I might do is flash another rom. I tried a few different cabs that were suppose to set up the proxy settings but still nothing. Oh well. Thanks for your help

If you have tried the wizard, checked the connections, and tried the cabs theres nothing else I can do, I really would say try proxy cabs again, if they dont work.. then..:confused::confused:

You need to tick "enable advanced network connectivity" I think, when making the partnership.

I just had this issue on my new HTC Touch Pro (on T-Mobile UK) stock rom.
I've been pulling my hair out over this for a few hours and FINALLY solved it. For me the issue seem that when T-Mobile downloads all its settings to the phone the Internet service is called "T-Mobile Internet" where the email settings aare trying to use "Internet" (which then no longer exists).
So in short - this is how I fixed it...
At you mail inbox: Menu > Tools > Options > Click ur email account > Edit Account Setup > press Next until you get to the Outgoing (SMTP) Mail server settings page > Click the Advanced Server Settings link at the bottom > change Network connection to your internet provider instead of the default "Internet" (e.g. mine's "T-Mobile Internet") > carry on thorugh the pages until finished. It should now connect without the Error Synchronising message.
Hope this helps save someone some time somewhere!

Just check your email account is definitely using the internet connection you use to access your provider's 3g/gprs using the above method at your mail inbox. Its at the fourth or so page of "Edit my account setup" - there's a link to Advanced Settings which then has the option you need to check.
Hope this helps.

LLOYDY - you're a legend! I have been mucking around with the e-mail setting for hours now and couldn't work out why it wouldn't connect!
Turns out you were exactly right that it was simply a naming problem with the internet connection. I checked the connections in the folder you mentioned and found both "The Internet" and "Telstra Internet" (among others). I simply changed from The Internet to Telstra Internet and the connection came up perfectly as soon as I pressed send / receive.
Thanks!!

Jafo - I reckon you should be able to follow LLOYDYs menu directions and find the AT&T internet listing in the advanced outgoing server section. If it doesn't jump out at you, just try each one until you get it...
Best of luck. :)

I have this problem from time to time (6.1 ROM - forget which one - on HX4700).
For me it is solved by going into ActiveSync, then "Connection" where the "Sync all PCs using this connection" option is usually ticked, but in the drop-down there are two USB connections (as well as "BluetoothActiveSync"). There is "USB Default" connection and just a plain "USB" connection. I have to switch from the former to the latter, reboot the PPC, recradle and then it works, until it loses the setting again (don't know why it does this) at some future point in time.

Very similar issue with HTC HD2. Can't use Lloydy's method as the mail setup does not seem to have any "advanced" options at the outgoing mail server page.
Can sync email fine through Activesync, but I get this "Cannot connect" error when trying to send an email via my data connection (and yes my account has internet access with it - I can browse the web fine).
Plus - doesn anyone know of a way to DELETE an email account completely from the settings? Seems I'm only able to add a new one or edit an old one - not get rid of one!

1 - Haven't got a HD2 following Lloydy's method you should see the Advanced Server Settings link at the bottom of the screen (see the attachment)
2- From the email tab highlight the email account you want to delete >inbox>Menu>flick the menu screen up until you see tools>options tap and hold on the email account and you'll see a delete option
