hey whats up every1... I hope everyone is alrite... well lemme stop with the brown nosing points and get straight to bizness...

i got SPB Back up 1.5.1 and when i perform a full system back up, errors come about. The only errors that come about is that NK.exe wouldnt allow access to a few files... any reason why? What is NK.exe as well? Thanks

I got the NK.EXE error only with the file Compimeh.0409.dat. It may be not important, the backup is valid; I restore my machine every night cause I test WM6 but I need all my data ready for my job the next day.

NK.exe is the OS kernel. It does not allow access to the file(s) because it has them locked for its exclusive use. Since it is the OS kernel, it can't be stopped by Spb Backup and therefore it does not release its locks on the file(s).

Spb Software does not officially support WM6 yet, but I expect when they do there will be a fix for this. In the meantime, if you do a search, there are workarounds documented in other threads to (a) have Spb Backup ignore the error with compimeh.0409.dat and (b) to enable scheduled backups to complete successfully.

this issue has been discussed womewhere here.
just add regisrtry to something like this (i forgotten already):

HKCU/Software/SPB Software/Backup/Skiperrorfiles/

add one more key and put the error file as the value.

I'd found the same file, compimeh.0409.dat as the culpret as well and was just about to post this issue. I had done custom backups excluding that one file and the backups complete fine. Now to search out if it's possible to have SPB ingnore this as a normal setting and not have to manually go in and uncheck this file in the windows folder.

Fix: Edit this string:HKLM\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House\Spb Backup\SkipErrFiles
Add new string:
Name 6
Value: %Windows%\compimeh.0409.dat
You add a new string for all the errors putting the run in exact way.

Not my solution but easy to find and solves most of the issue

I am having the same issue with compimeh.0409.dat with Sprite. I think it will all be fixed after the developers test it and qualify for WM6

There is no SPB software for WM6 yet as WM6 has not yet been released. Expect compatability issues.

nk.exe = Kernel Task

Well, AFAIK there is only one file that cannot be copied - it should be the user dictionary for word completion. Do you use it?

Only issue I had with SpB Backup: Scheduled copies would not start. Since I needed a hard reset 3 days ago (CommMgrPro 9.0.15 :( ) I did a restore from Backup and for some reason the Scheduled copies would work from then on.
