Transcend 4GB SDHC
NOT working correctly on ROM ruu_trinity_htc_dan_1.23.403.2_103_6275_1.38.00.11 _108_ship
It works when I start it and I can fill it with the 4gb, but after the phone goes in lowpower mode (screen turned off) and I turn it on again, the card is either gone completely or only first level of folders on the card are shown.

Default formatting as when it was bought (fat32). Pocket mechanics does not find any errors on the card and benchmark tests shows that the speed is acceptable. it is however not acceptable that the driver looses connection to the card.
One time I even got a popup stating that a USB device was not recognized and that I had to input the name of the correct driver.....say what!?! how should I be able to do that?

Transcend miniSD 2GB 80x works fine -used for recordings
Corsair miniSD 2GB works fine - used with Garmin Maps
Sandisk miniSD 2GB works fine - used for music storage

Initially, the cards were formated FAT32 (4KB cluster size).

After running a few speed tests using File Explorer for a 32MB file transfer, and Anton Tomov`s Pocket Mechanic for file system performance, I found out that FAT16 (32kB cluster size) results were 5-10% better.

Now I`m using all four cards (1 Transcend, 2 Corsairs, 1 Sandisk) FAT16 formated, and I haven`t encounter any problem so far.

The only moment I`ve lost the info on the card was when I tampered with Anton Tomov`s Pocket Mechanic file system cache settings.

For how long have you tested it? Mine seemed to work fine for some days, but then it started to lose connection to the system (or vice versa) At some point I had to restart the mobile twice a day in order to keep connection with the card. after formatting it with pocket mechanics, I can now keep it connected for nearly a week without having to reboot.

I've just received my TopRam 4GB form ebay (4 days a go) and I'm having problems (hangs when accesing music files, hangs when closing Tomtom 6.03, hangs some times for starting windows). I have to remove before start Win.

My mistake.... ejem.

I found the problem was some settings with Trinity Hack about performance. I can't select any of the settings because causes the crash of the system with this memory (TopRam 4GB). Without thouse selections the performance of the memory is good (Pocket Mechanic marks 11x).

Now working good.

Still Testing. Will report :D

Hi

I use Extrememory miniSd 2GB 133x, its fast but instabel, in two minths ii erase all information 1 time and when i use programs that write lote of information in the minisd like Rss programs it begins to stop by seconds, at final i must do a soft reset.

In my last PDA i find the best and stabem SD card it was the Transcend 4g 150x what a card...

In this moment what is the fastest and stabel miniSd in the market, anyone knows... Transcend have miniSd 2Gb 80x other labels have speeds from 150x for the miniSD, what is the fastest and more stability in our Trinity device.

Thanks in advance

I've been using the 2Gb Transend 80x without any problem for 2 months.
From what i have read, if you want a stable card then you cant go wrong with this. Most 4Gb cards seem to be a hit and miss affair and not worth the greif although some will post below and say mine works...... Lucky you !

The Corsairs were better performers in terms of read speed than the others:
~15MB/s (that`s why I used them for the maps), but the write speed was lousy - below 2-3MB/s.

Transcend was the balanced one: 9-10MB/s read and 5-6MB/s write.

Sandisk performance was poor: 4-5MB/s read and 2-3MB/s write. But for listening to music is more than enough.

Hope this helps.

In the past 3 months I`ve been using a 4GB miniSDHC made by Twinmos. Worked flawless so far (on WM5). Yesterday I switched to WM6, but I had no time for thorough tests.

Using this right now, seems to work well. I've also upgraded the rom (Mary 2.0) so i can't tell you if the improved speed of my Trinity is the new rom or the card, but it's smokin' fast lately.

Used the SanDisk 2GB miniSd for 5 months for original WM5 Rom and some cooked WM6 ROMs, worked perfect.
Just upgrade the storage card to Kingston 4GB Class 4 miniSDHC (model SDM4/4GBKR from buy.com), everything is OK with the HTC_Trinity_3.00.07.18.PV ROM.

Since changing to WM6 I've not had any of the problems that I used to get with 4gb cards. I'm currently using 2 x 4GB Dane-Elec cards (purchased from expansys advertised as Ora brand) been a few months now. No problems, even taking them out and using in readers quite a lot.

My Topram 4GB card has worked flawlessly for the past 6 months however it died a few days ago.

It is not recognised by my Trinity and when used in a card reader it says the card needs formatting but won't let me.

I think the 4GB cards have a maximum 6 month lifespan.

Does anyone have one that has worked in excess of 6 months? What manufacturer do you use?

I don't believe it has a lifetime of 6 months but just an unlucky. However I suggest that Genuine Kingston or Sandisk or Toshiba brands as they are top quality and at least 5 years to lifetime warranty

One of my Ora 4GB Mini SD cards stopped working after 6 months (last week), but I'm putting it down to not liking a card reader that I used it in. But it could not be formatted or read properly afterwards. I sent it back for a replacement from the supplier. These 4gb cards still seem to be very touchy about being taken out of the Trinity.

Strangly enough the micro SDHC USB reader that it came with wouldn't read on my XP laptop and I couldn't find the link to to WinXP SDHC patch (only Vista) so I formatted the card and copied to it via WM5orage 1.8 ;)

Just put in a 8 gig microsdhc sandisk with generic micro to mini converter
shows 7503.32MB
running os 5.2.1437 build 17944.0.3.1

Update:
Seems like windows is windows afterall.
I soft rebooted my trinity and lost all my media files (probably because windows media player / htc audio manager was running in the background). The rest of the files on the card (TOMTOM-gps) is ok and still gets me from point a to b.

First Post...Tot I contribute my own experience with my trinity

Tried a Kingston 4 gb sdhc minsd card (Class 8). Worked initially and got corrupted after one day. And I mean corrupted, the card is so damaged that I will have to RMA it.

Got really annoyed, took a risk and got the SANDISK 8 gb sdhc microsd card (Class 4), using with a Kingston minisd adaptor. Works like a charm. Been using it for one week and no issues at all. Speed is excellent and I have got a couple of hundreds of MP3s running without any problems.

BTW...Using it with TNYSXY - CE OS 5.2.20273 (Build 20273.1.3.3). So far no problems...

Hi Pzucchel.

Bit of advice if you could (it wouldn't be the first time I've seen you giving good advice!) :)

I'm planning on getting a SanDisk 4GB microSDHC (I don't have enough money for the 8GB!)

Sandisk don't do a "minisd adapter", right?

What do you use? I've found an "eXpansys Memory MicroSD to MiniSD Adaptor" (link below). Is this what you use. Will it be ok?

https://shop.mwg.com/p.aspx?i=142629

I notice on the website above that th ecompany eXpansys do their own Memory 4GB microSDHC Card. I would go for this one (it's only a little more expesive) but everywhere I read that Sandisk is th ebest to use with Trinity.

http://shop.mwg.com/p.aspx?i=157677

I appreciate any advice you may have. Also, could you include in your reply any important steps that are needed to transfer data from my 1GB to the 4GB so that it works ok?

Thanks,

Mattster.

I notice on the website above that th ecompany eXpansys do their own Memory 4GB microSDHC Card. I would go for this one (it's only a little more expesive) but everywhere I read that Sandisk is th ebest to use with Trinity.

I appreciate any advice you may have. Also, could you include in your reply any important steps that are needed to transfer data from my 1GB to the 4GB so that it works ok?

Thanks,

Mattster.

Hi!
Sandisk DOES all kind of adapters, but they are NOT usually sold separatelly, they come bundled with different Memory cards. I even bought a "cheap" 1Mb micro SD card just to get a full set "Micro to Mini to Standard SD" of adapters. I gave for free the Micro SD card to a friend.

Hello Mattster,
buying a memory card is, in my opinion, sometimes a bet. I had used a card from mobymemory, to realize after one year it never worked perfectly and in SOME cases it was going to be corrupted. I was almost capable of generating the problem systematically, by filling it up, having an error, and then wait....

Now, i am EXTREMELY happy with a SANDISK 8 Gb which i bought from Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180269435303&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:FR:11

it was cheap (27.90 Euros), and included microsd adapter and nice package. I've seen that there are many many memory grades, and there must be a threshold for quality. frankly speaking: obviously, all memories come from few manufacturing plants, and the grades could either a commercial invention or an actual technical parameter. My philosophy: if cheap enough - the only solution is trying it out.

Yes, if i would have to pass by my experience, try this one (looks even cheaper now, 25.99 Euros)

(BTW; note that i don't even understand German...)

Don't forget that sometimes SDHC is driver dependent...but we are using the same OS (yes, we have the same underlying tnyynt OS)

Regards!

Disclaimer: this should by no means be taken as an advertisement. I have no relation with the mentioned company different from the fact i bought one memory card!

Hi Pzucchel.

Thanks for your great advice above.

I've got a new Kingston 4GB Micro SD (SDHC) Card coming tomorrow (comes with minisd adaptor and card reader)and am going to reinstall Tomtom 6 onto it.

What do you mean when you say SDHC is driver dependent... and that we have the same underlying tnyynt OS.

Are you saying that I now need to carefully choose which ROMS I flash?

Thanks,

Mattster.

Very simple and no magic: older OS versions were not very stable with SDHC...as far as i know, a problem of the past
