I need to know the most stable Radio ROM for WM6. Even with 2.19 i was missing calls and text messages.

Since several days i use the 2.69.11 radio rom.
In combo with NBD.v4 (Not Big Deal) WWE which i am using for testing.
Overhere i had with all radio roms 1 til 0 bars. (Country side)
With 2.69.11 i have most off the time 2 bars inside my home and outside a full signal.
Althought i'm not a big caller i never had lost calls or disconnections.
Even when i am driving and use my Bluetooth GPS reciever and make a call via my Jabra bt200 i can recieve sms messages or sent them.
Without losing my 24/7 up gprs connection or call.
About the battery drain i can't tell you my findings because last couple off days i flashed my device several time and due the testing my device is almost 24/7 attached at my USB cable.
But i noticed when i am at work and my phone left at home, 8 hours later my phone has lost 10% off his power.
Until now no numerous problems

Faria posted an excellent thread earlier today and it seems to be right on the money... Basically the best radio rom is the one that works for your provider. Unfortunately WM6 seems to add a wrinkle to this so even the Cingular 2.25 doesn't work on Cingular well (or it doesn't for me). So I'm using the T-Mo 2.19 UK one and I haven't noticed any missed calls or SMS since switching to it. But every time I put 2.25 or higher on my phone with WM6 I see issues with missed SMS and Calls.
So if you are missing with 2.19, You should probably try another rom like 2.25 (Cingular or T-Mobile, but they are different, just the same numbers). 2.47 never worked well for me even on WM5 so I've never tried it on WM6. 2.61 and 2.69 both gave me lots of missed calls and sms.

Yep i've read that topic.
My provider has the 2.18 rom provided with there Wizards.
By luck maybe the 2.69 works for me.

I have had terrible problems with all radio roms above (and inclusive) of v2.19
2.69 > So many missed called, unbelivable
2.47 > Exactly the same as above, but much quicker at finding a signal
2.19 > Missed Calls (no missed sms), couldnt dial often (just ended) and signal kept dropping
2.07 > Came with the phone, and Im going back to it in a few mins! Never a problem!

I see on the ftp site there is a Summiter 2.17 . Anyone ever use that one?
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Radio_Roms/Radio_Only_Thread/Summiter_2.17_Radio_Only.zip
Also see there is a 2.07 on there from QTek (is that the one you are referring to, Whiterat)?
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Radio_Roms/Qtek%20RadioRom%2002.07.10%20NLD%20(rip%20from%202 180706%20NLD%20RUU%20Prodigy).rar
If not, can you upload the one you have? Is it a radio only rom?

Its worth a read. My own experience contradicts it some (ie: on WM6, the Cingular 2.25 radio doesn't seem to work as well as the T-Mo 2.19 UK radio for me), but for the most part I think it makes a lot of sense.
Upgrading the the latest radio isn't always the best thing. Find the one that works for you and then stick with it (for us geeks, thats hard not to always be on the latest version though ;))

mfrazzz:
I downloaded the original update from o2 (since mine is a mini s) Extracted the NBF from the installer then extracted the NBF into the individual NB's.
One of which is the GSM :)
If you would like it then I can upload to FTP.

My experience agrees with yours Mfrazzz. Since I moved to WM6 I've only had consistent luck with 2.19.11 UK. I've read that most of the issues seem to be with Cingular on the higher numbered radio roms. I had particularly bad luck with the 2.61 rom in missed calls and late notifications of voicemails, despite its higher signal strength and faster data throughput. I also tried the 2.25 Cingular rom, which worked well for me with WM5, but missed calls again. Since then, I've been paranoid about trying anything new.

I have had missed calls and notifications with every radio rom and WM6 from 2.19 and up. 2.19 was the most reliable, but not completely.

Are you sure its not just crappy service or possibly you have no signal when your missing calls and texts? I have ran 2.19 with every rom I flash and have NO problems ever.

I can honestly say I haven't had any problems with missed calls/SMS with ANY of the radio ROMs. I've tried them all -- 2.19, 2.25, 2.47, 2.61 and 2.69.
The only dropped call issue I've had was due to the inability of the radio and GPRS playing together at the same time. But that's already been discussed as being one of the quirks of the Wizard . . . ad nauseum. So, no reason to revisit that. Once I was aware of it, it didn't matter and I changed some of the settings for my programs that automatically update so I don't notice the problem any more.
I'll have to go along with the line of thinking that it doesn't really matter so much on the radio ROM as it does the coverage area that you're in. But, that's just me. . . :)

After I flashed 2.19, it seemed to work ok, but a few days later my wife said she called me and left a voice message, I never got it (but it was there when I called my voice message). So, the next day I called myself from my landline a few times throughout the day. I had full bars on the wizard, and one of the calls didn't go through, although the phone rang 4 or 5 times on the landline end (not the normal 1 or 2 when the wizard is off). I then left a voice message, that never came through. I waited a few hours but I was never notified of a new voice message. I then called my Voice message and sure enough, it was there. I only happened 2 or 3 times, but it did happen.

My experience mirrors that of many others and I have tried to characterise the issue based on the state of the phone.
It seems that if I am "using" the phone for surfing (via WiFi or GPRS), checking contacts, playing Bubble Breaker, etc. then an incoming call will get through on radio ROMs higher than 2.19.
If the phone is asleep due to power save then the call will be missed. When I look at the phone under these conditions, the lights in the left and right softkeys illuminate but this then goes away.
With 2.19 I find signal strength here in South Florida and in my house not quite as good as later radios but it has to work as phone reliably which it seems not to on the later radios.
Has anyone else been able to isolate behaviour like this ?

Using Xplore 1.1 and previously Nottoosmart vanilla. 2.19 seems to be clearly the best one.
The other ones, I had weird problems where I would leave it in my pocket for like an hour or so, and I would get missed calls. My phone would work okay only if I'm using the phone, unlike keeping it in my pocket. Kindof hard to explain. It's like when I'm not playing around with the phone and stored in my pocket, my radio rom doesn't work.
For your voice mail problem, are you sure you have voice mail notifications activated? This should be in your voice mail options.

That's what I was trying to describe in post #15. When in this state, if you call it, did the LEDs on the two softkeys light up but otherwise no incoming indication ?

I don't remember my light lighting up. All I know is, when trying out other roms in Northern California, my friends would complain that they tried calling me many many times and I don't pick up, when really, I never heard the ring. My stock radio rom was 2.25 and that worked well with WM5, but for some reason, moving to WM6 and using the radio rom only 2.25, that gave me the problems. I stuck with 2.19 and clearly gave me the best results on WM6.

I am in South East FL, USA and on T-mobile. I've never had any problems with any radios and I've tested every version that I have been able to find from 2.19 upwards except for 2.69.
I hear a lot of issues with people on Cingular in this area. Me thinks I'll stick it out with T-mobile. I mean, yeah, I am dying for 3G and a better aircard besides my Wizard but it does you no good if you can't get signal.
Currently running 2.25.11 wth IPL/SPL 3.08 and NotTooSmart_vanilla_WM6 with no overclock at all. Works great with all calls, texts, MMS (rarely used but I did test), Push email, internet radio streams at the gym, SiriusWM5, etc.... I use more data than anything.
My wife is a student at a Univ here in South FL where cell signal is absolutely horrible and she has same configuration as above. On hers, I have found that only 2.19 can get her signal while inside of building on campus but even then it is still marginal at best. 2.25.11 is a complete washout almost as soon as she hits the hallways there. 2.47 works but same results as 2.25.11 when she gets to school. She uses more phone than data.
I'll let 2.69 age a bit more and get more feedback before I try it. No rush.

Hey guys,
I noticed that I am not the only one around here with this kinda headaches...
Anyone is willing to suggest a solution to my problem?
My smartphone is working perfectly (IE, Tomtom, WiFi, Bluetooth, phone, etc.) but if it is left idle for a couple of hours I am not reachable by phone.
The phone makes outgoing calls without any problem and by doing that it sort of "wakes up" and suddenly I can again receive incoming calls until its incoming calls function "falls asleep" again!!!
The GSM coverage is perfect and the reception gauge is permanently indicating full signal.... What should I do?
Thanx a lot.... SiperX

I have T-Mobile and the only reliable radio stack I've used was 2.19. With the other ones, I would miss texts and calls. And for whatever reason, it wouldn't always let me know I had voicemail messages. If anyone lese has had luck down here with a different radio let me know.

Radio ROM 2.19 is the only one that works for me too. Unfortunately, I don't think the RF performance in terms of signal is as good as the later ROMs. Also, as others have mentioned, if signal is lost it takes a longer time to obtain signal again compared to the others.
It has also been my observation with 2.19 and WM6 that the battery life isn't as good as with the later ROMs. I have tried 2.25, 2.47. 2.61, and 2.69

I do overclock. Right now up to 273MHz using the beta 3 version of BatteryStatus with the CPU Scaler. I use that one because I really like the built-in tray launcher.
I tried using Batti and like it but it doesn't make nice with WM6. I kept getting errors on boot about it being an unisgned app and wouldn't be loaded.

On WM5, the Cingular 2.25 Radio I think is better than the T-Mobile 2.25 Radio. I also used the 2.61 radio on WM5 and it seemed to work fine.
On WM6, the only choice I seem to have right now is the T-Mobile 2.19 UK radio as any version higher than that has missed calls and SMS. You said you are on T-Mobile though, and I see others with T-Mo reporting good results with 2.61 and 2.69. You really just have to try it. But if you can't afford to miss calls, then stick with 2.19 on WM6.

Im using Faria along with the as standard O2 2.07.10, never changed it.
What do the other versions do that 2.07.10 doesnt do? Apart from miss calls that is ;)
The only issue I have with 2.07.10 is that when I call someone I never hear the person saying " hello " They have said it and then wait for me to answer. It be a delay on answer.
How easy is it to change the radio version on a locked G4 out of interest?

I'm done with the other roms...the UK 2.19.11 radio rom is as good as it gets for me...the other roms have nice signal, but a wide range of issues...2.40.11 is horrible in my experience...it doesn't recover from signal loss at times...in my opinion 2.69.11 is better, but my dailpad does not respond to this radio...I'm even having major battery issues...I do not know if it has to deal with the radio roms I am putting on my phone, but I just bought a new battery from T-Mobile and I'm still experiencing a major battery loss (not as much as my old batter fortunately)...did the T-Mobile MR1 come with a radio rom? If so, what is it? I might just rely on my carriers capabilities rather than the numbers :o

I kinda agree with you. I'm using the same ROM and I don't see a reason to upgrade. As far as I know I haven't missed any calls, other than because I was in the middle of a data transfer. 2.40 is pretty bad. I lost signal on the way home tonight travling I-65 and it would not recover. I had to turn the radio off and then back on. That's not acceptable. I'll try the same think with 2.25 Monday.
