Can't find any reference to this issue, so I'm hoping someone might be able to assist.
I installed a legal copy of Tomtom 5.21 on the 8525 and it works great, except for the fact that the screen doesn't stay on or locks when there's no device activity for more then 5 minutes. I have the device being used on battery and the power settings will only allow me to extend the backlight to 5 minutes. Since I use the Tomtom rather infrequently, I don't want to disable the backlight setting. Also the device is set to lock after 15 minutes, which I know is short, but trying to adhere to corporate standards on this setting. Shouldn't the Tomtom software handle the function to control overriding the device lock threshold? I know it should, because when I used the software on a Treo 650, the screen lock function was defeated while Tomtom was running. Am I missing something (a setting or reg key) that would give me the same functionality on the 8525? It is quite annoying to have to either unlock the device after it locks while driving, or risk the possibility of forgetting to re-enable the setting if I manually disable it.

Any advise is much appreciated.
TIA.

Try this:

Settings -> System Tab -> Power -> Advanced tab

uncheck the "Turn off device if not used for" box.

Start TeleNav, go to preferences. Make sure that backlight is set to always on. I have never had any problems with this. Hope it works

Thanks....both very good suggestions, but my main issue is the security kicking in, and the device locking after X minutes. As I stated previously, shouldn't Tomtom defeat the device lock while the software is active? Is there a way to defeat with an alternative method, such a a batch file that would disable the device lock, run Tomtom, then when Tomtom exits, re-enable the security of locking the device?

Any further input would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.
