I have the feeling that with this new commanager, that doesn't happen
Also when preloading that fix... you loose about 1MB of free RAM and I will morelikely add a cab to fix that problem for those who have it rather than sacrificing ram for everybody
From what I know, VoIp is included and working perfect.

I can't wait for ver 2!!! I LOVE 1.1:D
Only thing i had issues with that hasn't already been mentioned (or i just missed it in the posts) was occasionally the Ringer and Vibrate doesn't work after soft reset unless you go back to the settings and reset it.

2.98... that is quite a jump! I wish there was a documented way of extracting the radio stack to be able to use it on the WM6 roms. Seems as Faria is the only one that knows how to do that and/or what files are needed thus far.

No, AKU3.4 said by the Tmob hotline. We will see if it really will apear.
But shouldn´t we come back to topic: Xplore 2.0??

Iulian,
you will remove the unuseful microsoft stuff like windows update?
Yes, for the Core, I want to remove everything. This will be for Home Cooking
Without useless stuff like Customer Management, windows Update, Marketplace...all that. Also I will remove some other stuff, like Windows Live/Messenger , SpeedDial...and others.
Rmember, this only for the Core. The usefull apps will be included in the other 2
After I finish the Core, then I will release the other 2 versions based on it
I thought alot about this and I think this is the best way to do it.
Some people don't like SpeedDial...some don't like VoiceCommand...others want newer versions of Windows Live /Messenger...and the list can continue.
That's why I want to make this only the really needed stuff...just the pure core fith fixes without any programs, so people who want to cook their own rom will have it as clean as it can be and no work needed to remove apps, and including them is easyer.

may i add my suggestions?
i was fanatic of customising wm03, now i have wizard.
I am fan of 1.1, and i think, that few things could be done to make it better - as clean ROM.
ok..to the point:
1.1 still isnt clean - erm, clean as i get term clean..
-windows live - could be wiped out, people who must use this hm app still can install it from CAB, i DO NOT want to have it in my machine(=service, exe,registry removal, method plzzz...)
-customer support(why, where, when,NO)
-error reporting(why,where,when,NO)
-irda on after HR/flash(geez i forgot to turn it off, now my battery is out..damn)
-strange taskser.exe thing in /hklm/init(im VERY curious what the heck is this, try to find ANY info bout it...strange thing..)
-useless(probably) launch=100 in /hklm/init which removal can give SOME more RAM free.
...these are on first look.
Now, it would be good idea to make 3 versions(method seems to be easy and not time consumig) of 2.0, with 4,8,12 mb pagepool.
reason:
some apllications(emulators, etc), could have avdantage with different pagepool. and it would cut these questions 'bout pagepool. try it=dont ask more option, isnt it?
Why clean to the bone?
reason:
its rather irritating, that i cant uninstall something cooked in ROM, right?
its rathe nice, that internet can provide ANY cab you need :),
tweaks:
-cleartype in landscape - someone would want it,
-system cache - DEFAULT - no limits, its VERY fast that way,
-glyphcache - 65535 -or even 131072, it DOES matter, trust me- try to make test: open windows catalog with tcmd with default, or even 32760 and 2x more, then 4x more...RAM still ok, no change, its in bytes, not KB MB...i think.
Emulators, PDF readers seems to work FASTER, ebook readers same thing,
these are essential imo, rest can be mounted with hpc tweak...which "could" be in ext rom-optional,of course.
---------------
what to add:
ALMOST NOTHING,maybe for reconsider:
-tcmd beta 2.5 - it has associations change option, earlier does not...
-oxios memory - should i tell why?
-signed camera DRIVER patch - i almost dropped jaw, when i saw what i saw :), it seems to have effect on COOLCAMERA too, trust me quality of photos is very good, on camera and coolcamera,
-wm5newmenu - its essential imo, if you like to use machine still clear and have some nice options like menu launcher with almost zero mem usage, it wiped out my todays, if you want to see what i mean, look there for screenshots..
http://pdaclub.pl/forum/index.php?topic=50666.0
i do not need any launcher now, just that awesome program.
i did some COMPLICATED projects with today, now i am turning into minimalism + max power..
-lnk to screenrotatetray to /windows/startup/ - its annoying to add it manually,
-lnk in same place for startclean- to make start menu clean...
-minimal programms like traytodayitems - its great programm to turning on/off today plugins from tray, next app-todayrefrescmd - its useful with vjtoggletoday,no more messed up blank spaces,softkeys turned into hardkeys ONLY= more today space, sleeker look, OPTIONAL-not in /windows/startup,
-x-button + optional switch 1.25 - these both are together nice method to close/manage launched apps, switch adds icon on taskbar - icon that holds launched apps list, and you can set that icon position for portrait/landscape independently-useful thing,
-htc tweak - useful app to make tweaking SAFE.
-macromedia flash - i think its rather essential too, good to have in ROM...
-traylaunch or vjtraylauncher(harder to use..)
- any omap clocker - NOT BS...clockers arent using ANY hooked dlls to make life hard , when BS is used...so batterystatus is chioice, not drama...
- today agenda - essenital, nice, fast good app.
these are in my mind now....
You know, i just want to show some possibilities, x-plore made me happy user, only thing is to make few changes and wiping out these unwanted services/apps every HR...
i hope, that my poor english wont make my voice stupid babbling, i am deep into pocketpcs, so i do care.
btw, some interesting things bout wizard, i noticed:
260 mhz omap is better than 400 mhz xscale
gxmark on 400 mhz pxa 623 - 1705
gxmark with wizard with 260 mhz(tcpmp reading NOT battstatus etc) - 1768.
24x mhz clock by battery status:
quake I - 22-26 FPS
duke3d - 26-42 FPS
tcpmp test 156% with matrix test movie trailer..( 86% or so in default).
sry for chaos, i just slowly realise, that its still very nice device...very nice.
anichillus and others are making miracles for us...
that's my thought.
btw, even with all soft i install, i am able to have 33 MB mem free. well for extremists i can advice turning today OFF completely :)...hklm/miscorosoft/today/enabled =0 , but DO NOT DO that, if you do not what You do..
generally 35 MB mem is real, i think its real to make even more...but geez i do not need it...
ok,enough talking...
thx
thx, anichillus.
notice, i am not talkin' about reported/illuzoric/real bugs, or fixes, its your job :). or people that have probs...

vjphoneoff - erm, name says all,
vicsoft vsnap -screenshotter
vjbluesync - AS on, bt on icons, autoBTsync icon..
softkeyapplet.cpl - throwed into /windows provide settings icon to assign softbuttons..USEFUL,small app.

Hi there Anchillus. Well i suggest adding :
* GPRSStalWorkAround cab
* HTC camera patch
* SD battery save patch
* start clean (its and executable that must be in the startup directory, it deletes recent open programs at statup)
* XDA Bluetooth Explorer cab
All of these are attached with this post.
I also like the TouchScreen threshold sentivity, but well this is a matter of preference.

My only 2 cents would be to improve the interaction with other radios - if this is even possible. Otherwise, if this rom is to only work with the 2.19, make it a requirement to prevent subsequent issues? I had a heck of a time with 2.25 myself.
I like the idea multiple flavors of roms, as I'm one to use the fluffy crap like Live and voice dialer. Just because I wear boots every day doesn't mean I don't like a cushy ride. NP to install myself, but I like that the pro's have it already included it :D
One last point, regarding that screen shot you posted prior with the Vista theme. Will it consume the same system resources, or is this eye candy that will bog down resources?
Look'en forward to it...

I think anichillus should just leave a folder named "CABs" just for everything he thinks people would like so they can choose to install the program if they want. If not, they can just delete the folder.

Not sure how doable that will be. Faria apparently gave up trying to put the AKU 3.3 comm stack in for his new vanilla beta rom due to numerous issues apparently. He did hint that the beta vanilla has a different stack in it (so if that helps, maybe that could be acquired and used). I'm still running radio 2.19 though as I can't afford to miss calls or SMS this week, but others doing the beta are now testing other radios I understand).

I like the idea of an uber clean ROM. I used to be really into having everything pre-loaded, but quickly came to realize that I only used 1/2 the stuff 25% of the time. After running NottoSmart's vanilla I realized how much faster everything ran and there were fewer conflicts.
The problem with creating the "perfect" ROM is that no such thing exists. Some people could not make it through their day without SMSDr. I have never used the damn thing. If I had not found phoneAlarm & smartskey I would have returned my phone after 2 weeks. Lots of people use alternatives or not at all.
I know that ShogunMark was working with some folks a while back to try to cook a ROM that you could choose what programs to install in ExtRom as you were installing the ROM so that you could get the benefit of saving memory but not installing what you did not want. However, I believe this effort was sidelined or stopped.
So if you operate off the assumption that there is no perfect ROM, what would I like to see integrated?
Basically, what "nothin" said sounds good to me.
The only thing that I would love to see is an updated version of registry wizard. I like that it is simple, clean and easy to use and make getting back up after a flash a lot simpler. I thought I remember nicodekker posting about doing a new version but I haven't seen anything lately. Perhaps this would be a great opportunity to co-launch and would also be a great way to make a lot of the tweaks that some people like and others don't easily available, but not preset!

Radios - this is definitely a tough issue since what works for one person, on one carrier, in one country may not work for another. Personally I am running 2.47 because although I get occasional GPRS reconnection issue when I lose signal I am less likely to lose signal in the first place than with 2.19. I don't find I miss all that many calls, texts etc.
That being said I have great things about 2.61 and 2.69 reception in fringe areas and I have tried them both. Reception seems a lot better and it takes a lot less time to re-acquire signal but both not only don't reconnect GPRS but also have problems ending calls and lots of missed calls.
I saw a post from Faria about 2.40 for Cingular but I couldn't find it anywhere.

im reading topic with curiosity,
and have an idea.. how to make people happy...
imagine clean system ROM(in general - like 1.1 without of what i wrote about earlier), and ext rom(s).
sounds boring?
Now, question is... is it possible to use scripted autorun overrider, i mean lauching script within autorun config, to replace all included there cabs to make process controllable - i mean, yes, no, skip, etc, step script, if nothin' more is possible.... i wonder, can be mortscript used to do this...
Just regular installer idea.

I would suggest not to include a radio rom! There isn't one that works best for all of us. Ppl can always upgrade there radio separately. Still a great fan of your 1.1 version anichillus. No issues at all.
I intended that for a second...but I changed my mind...it won't be any radio rom
Thx for the thumbs up :D
Also ... i forgot apparently to mention.
the "Core" is only the base rom for Cookers. You can suggest usefull programs for the other 2 versions, but I'd rather wait untill we finish this one.
So I need all the known bugs - and if possibly the FIXes for them.
Ok...so to be "crystal" clear on this:
"The Core"
-it is exactly what the name suggests. I am asking you for help on this because I want it to be perfect. After that is accomplished, I can start to develop the other 2 customised ROM's. This will not be custom at all. Only stuff used by everyone.
This will have no inlcuded apps other than fixes for known bugs and some other programs that are ... really really needed.
Why am I doing this ?
That's simple.
*There are some people that prefere some programs, some that prefere others. This way, everybody will be happy.
* It will be great for own cooking, and no need to think about fixes and stuff, because it's all there. Also no bugs. It's really important not to have any bugs on an rom before you start modding.
The other 2 versions will be cooked by me starting from this "Core"
This way I make sure that no bugs there too.
They will be customised by me. As I said
Version 1 - The Core
Version 2 - Xplore 1.1 like - style and apps
Version 3 - Still thinking about that, not decided yet, but it will be a little bit more loaded with apps...ONLY THE USEFULL dough ... little more eyecandy :D

Hi there Anchillus. Well i suggest adding :
* GPRSStalWorkAround cab
* HTC camera patch
* SD battery save patch
* start clean (its and executable that must be in the startup directory, it deletes recent open programs at statup)
* XDA Bluetooth Explorer cab
All of these are attached with this post.
I also like the TouchScreen threshold sentivity, but well this is a matter of preference.
Really great post. That's what I'm talking about :D
*HTC Camera Patch - already in
*XDA Bluetooth Explorer - I was working on that
*SD Batterysave ... I don't know about that...it kind of made my battery drain faster...I'll leave that last. Please remind me
*StartClean - good idea
*GPRSStalWorkAround cab - another good idea...don't know yet what it fixez..I'll check it out
Thx papa, I was going to ask for those :)

You might use "Airwizard".
http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=airwizard
Is this what you mean?
That looks cool but I think it only installs programs into regular memory. Also, from what I can tell that is a desktop app that you can basically use to create a "super" cab of all your programs. Although this would definitely make the process of coming back from a flash easier what would be really cool would be a program that operates during the flash that allows you to choose what programs you wanted to install into extended rom so that you could in effect cook your own extended rom as you were flashing xplore 2.0.
I know that ShogunMark, Dazzling Daz and a few others were working on exactly this as part of the unhappy wives club ROM for WM5 a few months ago. I think DrP was also peripherally involved as well. I believe the discussion is somewhere in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276651 although I am sure a PM to ShogunMark would get a pretty quick summary of what happened (or didn't)

first...thank you for your time and effort, i love 1.1!!
i agree with leaving out the radio rom. also i did experience wifi issues as previously mentioned, i have to reboot a few times to enable it. for me, personally, i love the redial and picture speed dial cabs floating around xda (i can send the cabs if you like)- it just makes life easier. i know you are trying to keep this bare-bones, but a few small apps we ALL pretty much use like omapclock and total commander would be a nice inclusion in the rom.
i love all the free space 1.1 has, and it has been fairly stable so far, so i will happily look forward to your next release. thank you again for your contributions.

I also at first wanted to do something similar to the Desktop PC .. ask what\where to install apps, even from the ppc...mabe that's possible...
But I think it's not worth it dough... It will use more space and also produces residual content.
And for what ? So you can brag that you can do that...I'm trying to make a rom that will not require flashing over and over again. One that you can flash once and stick with it.
I'm tired of flashing my device everytime something new appears..didn't said that I'll stop dough :P
I can say that I have a good rom when I will not flash another for at least couple of months.
Like I did with Johnnnny's Superrom 1.1 I almoust forgot about XDA Dev after flashing his...come to think about it...I never had any real problems with any rom, just differences in performance and visual stuff...mabe I'm just lucky...
I almoust forgot. Please, if you have suggestions/fixes...anything ... provide links. I cannot read the whole XDA-Developers site that fast :D

-Matt
About that Vista theme screen...you are reffering to the one with weather , no ?
Whell...that weater panel theme in speciall used alot of cpu(approx 30% constant), don't know why. With the default weater pannel themes, there was no CPU usage...but I guess that the animations...who knows.
I think that the available RAM is shown in the picture...
I have to say that with Wisbar adv and desktop installed, without the weaterpanel I still got about 29-30 free available RAM and the cpu usage was the same on idle (1-2%) The speed was good...it could of been better, but ..hey, we only got 195MHz. No overclocking needed. The dropdown menu was the only thing...little slow

For me oone reason is: When you write a program that install programs while flashing - who wants to care of those whoe even could not flash without problems :)?
I think flashing alone is difficult enough for some. And like on windows, I like to install everything step by step. I think it is more stable then.

Hi,
I have absolutely no issues with X-plore 1.1. IMHO it is just about right although you are never going to please everyone. It is certainly the most stable ROM (either WM5 or WM6) I have used and I have extremely good battery life. You will see from my signature that I use Batti and Omapclock rather than BatteryStatus which always seems to give me severe battery problems. I could ask for Batti and Omapclock to be included but why? They are easy enough to add and I suspect that any impact on free RAM this may have will not be a problem to 99% of users. I might add here that I don't understand why most people like to close rather than minimize programs. Surely WM5 and WM6 are designed to release RAM when required. Closing programs just slows things down when you want to relaunch. I accept that there are a very few programs that need more free RAM but I doubt this is an issue for the majority. We seem to be playing a numbers game here. I would like free RAM to be zero - I would then know it is all being usefully employed!
In short "If it isn't broke don't fix it". But I am still looking forward to X-plore 2.0

the program is pay, but i think 100% of tweaks is only regs changes
i realy apreciate to see some of this tweaks on nexts versions
nice ones:
Internet Tweaks:
Download 8 files simult.
MAX TCP Windows size
System Tweaks:
Enable ClearType in landscape (i think that already on...)
File Based Registry (This change the register from hive to file, because when you soft reset using the small role, the settings back to OEM default)
WM5 Optimum Cache Size (This change the cache to 2mb, improve in 20% the system)
Speed up SD/MMC transfer rate (a hack to improve the speed, and REALY works!)
Display Tweaks:
Speed up Display (Change de amount of memory for glyphs for display show fast....this i realy dont know if a good idea....coments are welcome)

Please remove Voice Speed Dial. These, who want to add Speech recognition can install, what she/he needs.
Would be great. Thanks.
Here are some bugs (?) I have in 1.1.:
- cannot activate WIFI (softreset solves this problem for a while) - KNOWN ISSUE
- Startup-Links (sometimes) do not start (Resco Keyboard)
- after disconnecting (just turning off) BT-GPS I have to remove, restart and re-add the BT-Device/Port to get it working again (no port communication)

Very true, as with most software releases you have to remember to write for th lowest common denominator. Not that I am always the most technical or greatest Wizard tech out there, but I certainly can see where this would confuse even more people, and stability is always an issue. However, it would be a pretty cool way to essentially customize your extended ROM...

As far as pdf viewers I use a great little program called Foxit. I snagged an internal testing version that has the nagware removed, but once I run the program once after install I just click on an attached .pdf and it opens it up. Can't you do that with Acrobat?

Regarding Smartskey - It's really easy to add and config. And some people either use custom settings, or they don't need it. Besides that it is run at startup, so I'm trying to avoid all those programs from the core.

after using the 1.1 for a bit...
my thoughts would be to include things like flash, appforge booster, .net compact framework, etc...things that many after market apps need to run on, but not everyone thinks to install. also things many of us here use, such as omap, wm5torage, total commander, and perhaps something like phm reg editor (at least in my mind, these are necessary apps). things can be bare-bones but still have the must-haves included.
i read a few pages back that the wifi issue would be corrected (if i read correctly) which is good. i'd also remove windows live and instead offer it in an extended rom later. i noticed in settings there is error reporting and customer feedback...i'd trash those...free up a little space.
anyhow, my 2 cents for what it's worth would be to:
toss out any/all M$ phone homes
fix the wifi issue
include flash, booster, little things outside apps may need to run
include omap, tc, regedit (the necessities of ppc life) in the rom
...and give yourself some big kudo's for doing a great job!!

I completly agree with you.
Anichillous, come on, smartskey only takes out 15.90 KB, so its not even a big loss. And as iceman said, i cant imagine a ROM without it, and alt tab, well i prefers magic button. And i prefer to install it by my own. But sure removing alt tab will free up some space.
Perhaps adding omapclock will not hurt anyone. :)
What about removing windows update, i guess it wouldnt work at all. :)

I never said this will be a RTM version. I just said that I need help with fixes for every known bugs. Trust me, it's harder to delete than to add.
This "Core" will not be one for lazy people :) but don't worry, the next 2 versions will be "flash and go" ROMs
Many of you don't understand why I'm doing this, but I'm sure that once released, you will.
Knowing that you only have apps that you use, whatever version you use...
I for example use neither Voice Command, nor Speed Dial...having both those apps take 3 MB RAM at least, and don't go thinking that you won't sense the difference.
I want to remove the following :
* Windows Update
* Windows Live & Messenger
* Marketplace
* SQM & Customer stuff
Any help/how to is apreciated. I can manage on my own, but it will take a little bit longer. Your choice.

Anchillus - Just a thought here, if you are going to pull things like .net flash, smartskey etc. I would highly suggest providing them in the same posting that you do the ROM for the following reasons.
1. Avoid the huge glut of postings asking for the cab or trying to figure out why programs don't work because they aren't there. I seriously think you will save yourself a lot of headaches this way.
2. Since pretty much every ROM released (and I have tried a good number of them) in the last few months has had these people just expect them to be there or don't even realize that they are necessary for other programs to run, which takes us back to point #1.
Seriously, although I really appreciate an uber clean ROM I would say that these types of "standards" should be included, especially small ones like smartskey. I think there is a difference between a clean ROM and a usable ROM, However, you are the chef and the decision lies with you and in the end anyone who doesn't like that can go learn to cook themselves.

HI,
I've just discovered that the X-Plore 1.1 has the same problem as the mun_rus' rom about the default ringtone(s). The ringtone file is called Ring-Windows Mobile .wma...There is an extra space before the ".". Don't know if it is possible to fix that in the second release. Not that a big deal, but will help the rom to be better :)
By the way I am not sure if the issue I am having with the ringtone directory is the problem of the rom or something else, but it was trying to make my default directory "\Storage Card2\Music" and "\Storage Card\" using both Sk Tool and the registry tweak decribed in wiki. But none of them could do that. Instead, when I was trying to do this "\Storage Card2\Music", it in fact moved it to "\Storage Card2"...I don't why :confused:
Can you help me with that?

Anichillus,
Do it your way. Stripped to the bone. No little apps. Nothing unnecessary. Those of us who are learning to cook ourselves will be greatly in your debt. The rest of you will see how having a base like this will allow others to create an endless variety of roms for you to play with.
If I can help, let me know.
Go get em...

However, you are the chef and the decision lies with you and in the end anyone who doesn't like that can go learn to cook themselves.
Didn't take me long to figure that out.
Regarding the last post, if you take those things out of the ROM and put them back in using the CAB, you will just eat into your storage space. Clean ROMs are not for installing so much as allowing you to put what YOU want in the ROM when you cook it.
I guess my issue with a few of the cooks here was that they were not just porting the ROMs and giving aspiring cooks the leeway to remove or install what they wanted. I think nottoosmart, mUn, anichillus and others realized that and started the whole vanilla craze. The funny thing is, I think most people like it! I ran the AKU 2.3 Mr. Clean ROM for about 4 mos. before I decided to jump to the Zeroxtreme 3.2. Both were rock solid and I didn't feel like I was carrying around half-baked custom jobs. Once I got the Qtek screen on them, it felt just like a factory ROM.

- fix phonepad input T9 language (always comes back to english)
- fix wifi startup problem (no wifi entry in my reg)
- add "softkey applet" fix (and add the applet while you're there :-) )
Keep up the good work! Your 1.1 release revived my Mda Vario!!

I need a programmer for this one
It just came to me. I need a really good programmer that can build for me and the community an Update Utility.
Q : What does it do ?
A : It checks for Updates, right ?
It's a great way to keep up with patches and fixes. Something like the Desktop Windows "Automatic Updates"
* It has to work as automatic and manual, with an select option.
* It has to check with a version on my ftp/site or...anyother place, I'm open for suggestion.
Q : What's the point ?
A : The point is that it will be really easy to keep up with fixes, and no further need to flash.
* It has to have an way of keeping after hard reset
I have to go now, but will be back later.

I don't know where these are 'features' or bugs, but the problems I had with Faria 1.1 were:
1) Pressing end call disconnected GPRS rather than minimising
2) Device kept waking up periodically after being turned off but not locked
3) Dates sometimes seemed badly formatted?
4) Battery drain seemed a bit higher?

Just my 2 cents ....please keep the core version as clean as you can possibly get it with only the bug fixes included. Those who don't want a vanilla rom can wait for the rtm version that you are going to release.
Thanks for 1.1. It's the best rom yet.

If you are synching with Exchange 2007, and using the flag email feature -
From within an email the "set flag", "clear flag" and "complete flag" are mixed.
"Set" puts a "complete" and so on.
Not sure what the fix is, probably no more than a registry change.
Never encountered this in Most Beautiful.
But X-Plore rocks!
Thanks you for a job well done, and please keep it up.

While in a conversation and using a bluetooth earpiece, bluetooth drops when a text message comes in.
This has happened to me on every WM6 ROM I've used and I've tried them all (literally). It could be my device but I don't think so. I recently received a warranty replacement after having it for 11.3 months. Nothing was wrong with it but a little worn, these companies get over on us...why not get something back (off topic). I have the same issue with this device. There's a hack for this but it didn't work.
Challenge: tell a friend to text you and then check your voicemail & see if bluetooth drops when the text comes in....

anichillus, theres one interesting thing which is in my mind:
------------
- extrom is initialized by autorun and its config.
- extrom in your xplore isnt initialized, and nobody asked wth.
- extrom is initialized by... CONFIG FROM ROM, not EXt ROM one.
- xplore has clean config.txt in /windows , what i can name FIRST STEP to clean ROM - i mean, considering its possible, easy way to use customization process:
config.txt exactly like that xplore 1.1 one, then after ROM flash it might be possible to just copy config.txt from ext ROM(cause there is ALWAYS one) to system - /windows, then if autorun launched is able to make what it does in normal first boot process, we have ready solution to make system customized, only two potential problems:
- safe way to cook and flash ext roms, or some ready packs for people,
- process of manual autorun launch must work.
its method to make ROM absolutely clean, cabs can be added later....
--------------
i know, that my posts arent exactly ontopic sometimes, lets say i am trying to learn something while reading all ppc forums....its occasion to ask...
so tell me if my thoughts are not true....
i like your signature though :)
I didn't understood all you said. But from what I understood is that after you flash the ...rom(let's say the Core Xplore 2.0) you want to copy the config from the actual extended rom and run the autorun.exe ???? .... :)
Lol it would be simple to just change this reg entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm]
"TurnRadioFlag"=dword:0
"AutoRunCFG"="\\Extended_ROM\\config.txt"
"AutoRun"="\\Extended_ROM\\autorun.exe"
Now it's sent to \\windows\\config.txt
But, why do that ? Why not make use of airwizard for example...or use wincecab manager and combine more cabs, run it and voila. No headaches, no battery problems, no nothing
I don't pretend to be a genius in this. Because I'm not.
I don't know what impact has that instead of the normal Extended Rom, the config.txt is placed in the windows folder. I get the feeling that this change confuses the system though. From here all the troubles with modding the ex rom ... batterydrain and high cpu usage.
What I really don't understand is why the guys that should know this don't give a hand. Mabe they prefere better to just watch and make fun of our problems. That's not really nice, you should know that.

i may have noticed a bug in the 1.1, would someone try to verify? i cannot launch i.e. i have tried from both the programs icon, and from the mda button. it would start to load then flash back to my today screen. i finally installed opera which will load and run no problem.
so IF this is in fact a bug, i wanted to mention it so that you can make any fixes for the core 2.0
also, it is hit and miss as to whether caller id pops up on an incoming call or not. again, if someone can verify this, to rule out my mda vs the rom.

* 44.5 MB Free Storage
NOT REMOVED YET
* Windows Update
* Windows Live & Messenger
* Marketplace
* SQM & Customer stuff
* No Performance Tweaks
* DRM Rights FIX applyed - NOT TESTED
* Tons of registry checked for errors.
* Phone Tweaks
* Control PanelSounds Fix
* Residual Voice Command Fix (some reg's i forgot last time)
* Adoce Fixes (adoce30.dll, adoceoledb30.dll, msdaer.dll, msdadc.dll)
-files added and settings restored-
* Alot more that I don't remember, although I keep a log
The Good :
* The Overall Speed increased visible.
* The user.hv is checked entirely. No more bugs there.
The Bad :
* I still have 7.000 lines(out of 12.000) to check for errors in default.hv
* I didn't won the lottery :P
The overall speed is really fast. I'm impressed and I don't get impressed that easy. I had the camera patch install from customise...usually it took over 5 seconds to install, mabe more. This time it was in...1-2 seconds. I thought that it didn't installed at all, but it did. Also, the start menu, entering the ComManager...the settings tabs...it's done almoust instant...
I will test it with the SK Tools benchmark to see if the difference shows and will upload pictures soon.

just a question (i dont understand these statistics too much so please bear with me)-how come the speed for storage card transfer rate is faster than main memory?(shouldnt main memory read/write be faster?) also, i noticed a small drop with regards to main memory read/write compared to xplore 1.1. I must admit that the storage card statistics are VERY IMPRESSIVE!! that's a HUGE improvement from xplore 1.1 but the main memory stats have actually dropped.
I apologize if I was talking out of my a$$ (because i obviously am not literate with benchmarking and stuff) but if you could explain my assumptions, it would make me really glad

Why do we have to have Alt-Tab application as part of the ROM ?
E.g. with SPB Pocket Plus (or I guest any similar "Manager") you can assign Alt-Tab functionality to any button.
So .... whoever wants it, they can always install "Alt-Tab" application separately.

Hello,
Man, don't ask me how, it's important that it is. I expected it to run smoother, but this kinda overcome my awaitings. You got some points there. If you look at the Xplore 1.1 pictures, you can see that "Main Storage" Read =2643KB and that "Storage Card" Read = 1500KB ....and besides that, the difference is crushing. I ran the tests plenty more times, just to be sure, I got without overclocking even higher values...6500+
I don't know why only the StorageCard speed is so big, but I can asure you that the system speed is alike , no matter that they were slightly lower values.
If you run the benchmark 10 times, you'll get 10 different values, some lower than others. How theyre mixed up togheter is what matters.
Again, my work was delayed...I did a stupid thing and ... now I have to bare the consequences.
I'm really doing my best I can, trust me on that.
Alt-Tab will be removed, I said it before. Don't know about smartskey though. That's the least of my problem

Hi Anichillus,
FYI, I was able to obtain similar results by tweaking your 1.1 rom with file cache and sd cache increases. This dropped my available program memory a few megs though. I have also tried to connect these benchmarks with "real world" effects, but surprisingly see very little improvement in loading times, etc with the tweaks, although the benchmark shows the dramatic change. I'm much more impressed with your observation of the decreased cab file execution time.
Look forward to your fire-breather!

On the smartkey thing that most seem to want I have this to say: are any of you planning on cooking your own roms? if you can't even be bothered to put 2 files in the windows directory, then do you really expect your going to be able to cook your own roms? For those that are not planing on cooking their own rom disregard what I said, and know that it's already been said that there will be other version which will be "flash and go", but please let's not keep insisting that he add files to the "Core" rom. Tweaks, settings, and necessary apps that's what the core rom needs. All the other fluff should have to wait for the other versions.

anyone interested for this, PM me.
NOT FOR THE 2.0 Core, but the DRM Rights
I use only DRM music from the new Napster and URGE. Your current ROM works fine. Before ppl start flaming me about promoting DRM you must understand that $15 a month is nothing to pay for all the music you can d/l AND I get it at 10-25MB/sec. I'm a busy guy and travel a lot and new music is all I have to keep me going so I fill my 2GB card with a mix of old and new stuff before I leave town and have found that I appreciate music more now than I ever have.

hi,
i have looked through both .rgu-files of xplore 1.1 and initflash.dat in my work of getting it ported to swedish. i didn't find that many things in rgu but in initflash i found this:
alot of .lnk-files are misspelled so i think that they aint copied to where they should. mostly the files that start with 0409_ like 0409_sample_dot. and in games folder gamesico.lnk. don't know if this makes any difference, but maybe worth knowing.
i'm gonna keep my eyes open for more.

Iulian,
In case you are still in doubt regarding those bluetooth issues we talked earlier in Xp 1.1, I haven't had any problem connecting through OBEX service over it and ROms I'm testing. Last time, I also didn't even use that registry fix over 1.1. :)
So, I suppose it's all fixed by now for Core 2.0! Just keep it as planned!:cool:

Will not take such long! Just got a "alpha version" and it is really fast - espacially in real working. Just seems to act like - click-n-get. You click start and it appears. You click close and your are back on today ....
He has "just" to control 2000 lines of registry (at the beginning 12000) when I remember right.
So let us keep hoping.

OK, thanks for clarifying, but it is most likely 2 days, a week, a month? I am on Explore 1.1 but have been messing around with the registry and un/installing lots of apps so I am considering a HR or even a full reinstall of the OS.
But if it is as close as you make me think believe then I would happily wait for a few days...

Hello guys,
Sorry, I've had an half a day off from all this,I was starting to get pissedoff and grumpy...
So, the release of the Core 2.0 was supposed to be this weekend...unfortunately...I wanted it all so I started messing with bigger things, that delayed it further. Also I had a personal problem that lost me a whole day.
I cannot be sure how long it will take, because today I think that it will be ready in the morning and in the morning another problem appeared...and another day and so on.
I did a comparison today with the Core 2.0 a2 and though the speed is much bigger than Xplore 1.1, I was just freakin pissed that in the menu it was as fast as the TMobile 2.26, some times even slower...
Obviously I didn't liked that, I stared getting mad and had to leave out, to get a breath...
I'm back now...and want to finish the reg checking, but some problems keep screaming in my head.
* Did any of you experienced an sudden reset ... in random situation ..either when connecting to the craddle, either when applying the overclocking.
With ANY ROM????
Good news, some of you use Omapclock, and I just discussed this today with Papa, the speed in Omapclock is not real. For the real speed, check batterystatus.
I don't remember the exact speed...260MHz kinda..means 286 and keep in mind that keeping your CPU at high overclocking may lead to irremediable damage.
The Storage Card Read speed test at 286 was over 13 MB/s yes, coool, I know...but too big is not good either.
As for the Core 2.0, it will be released during this week. Cannot say exact date, because it's not ready yet and don't know exactly how long it will take.
Stay close ;)

1. Vanilla
2. Bare Necessities
3. Loaded
?? Is that a correct assumption?
Thanks anichillus.
Also just wanted to add.. haven't had any issues with random resets, but then again I'm using your 1.1. The only problem I've had (this is recent since Vista migration) is when I sync the PDA with my Vista machine it yields the following error dialog box:

Yes, your assumption is almoust correct.
1.The Core - The Base ROM for own developing (the one I'm working now)
2. Lite - Still Vanilla, similar to Xplore 1.1(based on the core)
3. Pro - Lite with couple of Xtra flavour ... (some extra apps included will need registration codes...will clarify this when time is right)
About the mssyncapp ..don't know that...didn't happen to me
VOICE COMMAND : I don't think I will integrate this in any of the versions.
Q : Why ?
A : Because it is not used by everybody, and is a memory hog, also because it can be very easyily installed ...whatever version you want ...english, french, german...I will add the download links into this thread too. Be patient. Neither God didn't built the whole world in a single day.

* I have been using it for 8 hours...(I was asleep though) Running good
* The benchmark was good, some improovements.
* Decided to include a Performance-Stability-Memory option available. Didn't settled with where it will be placed. So you won't need for another app to change this settings.
* I will relace the Windows Mobile Ring with ...you'll find out when.

I faced some sudden resets couple of times run running previous ROMs I was using. Nottosmart's version has the performance tweaks ... I don't ... see, you must have seen the free ram difference, which is ... alot.
You can make the performance tweaks manual or by SK Tools. BTW, in The Core, I have a little surprise for that matter :D

Greetings,
xplore 2.0 is fast amazingly fast. Menu opens quickly, same like settings, and programs.
Right after reboot i get 33 mb ram free, unlike xplore 1.1 where i get around 31 mb free ram.
One problem the shortcut for calender under left softkey is not working, giving an error "cannot open the file htccalender.exe." But that is only shortcut problem with softkey application you have included. Other than that calender is working.
Camera Patch is working awesome.
This finding is without installing any thing.

When no more bugs reported ...I'm hopeing in about a week.
REMEMBER, untill now I have only done a hard cleaning. So NO performance related tweaks whatsoever.
Since the ROM is basically as clean as it can get, I will devote my time from now untill official release to improving the performance.

tomtom is quiet running fast with xplore. But if I switch between programs and making calls while navigating - the memory is important. Because tomtom takes about 8mb i guess.

all u beta testers are making me extremely jealous but i'd honestly rather try out the final/finished version. to be honest, as much as i'd like to be a beta tester (and have the perks of getting 1st dibs on xplore 2.0), i'd rather wait for the final release (coz im too busy and probably wont be any help as a beta tester if i cant post my findings)....but based on feedback..damn i cant wait!!!

Well like anc.... said his gonna put out a clean rom ...
until then im gonna try some different situations to c wat makes it
work a lil better...
i do have it overclocked like someone said...
so im not gonna overclock my phone to c if thats the problem...
My gf's phone isn't overclocked and she types fast and just hits send. I'm constantly getting parts of texts, like the phone didn't catch up but it did send it. I'm on Faria's and it keeps up a little better, but still not as great as the t-mo rom did.

Thanks,
Aninchillus i found the solution to my problem. The new rom just rested the setting on my sim card.
I think this is due to 2 reasons:
1. new sim manager
2. ppcpimbackup.
I'll report back, on wat really was creating the problem, till then awesome job pal. And thanks to nothin for the splashes.

Aparently that error will come up only if you activated the Softkey Editor in settings.
I got a feeling that it searches for HTCCalendar.lnk instead of Calendar.lnk
If you change the shortcut name to HTCCalendar.lnk and then reselect it from the SoftKey menu, it works
This is wierd, I know

######
Impressions in CLEAN state:
- Very fast
- awesome bootscreens
- commanager is great (10 buttons) and finally a nice colour :)
- no crashes even with heavy usage
Problems:
- WLAN can only be enabled by going to commanager, trying to activate it via the traylaunch icon of batterystatus or the phonealarm wlan-button does nothing (bluetooth however works fine)
######
Impressions after all installed and more intensive testing:
- 31.4mb ram free even with all apps running
- still really fast
- no compatibility errors untill now, will test other apps later on
Problems:
- same as above
all in all its a good stable and amazingly fast rom. if the wlan issue gets solved i'd probably have to buy you a few beers to say thanks :)
might have more results later.

Greetings,
xplore 2.0 is fast amazingly fast.
I completely agree with your findings, samy. I also have the "cannot open HTCCalendar" when using Calendar as my left softkey.
As I discussed with Anchillus, if you go into Settings>Buttons, Button 4 has no icon and is labeled as "AppButtons\". This was meant to link to SpeedDial.ink, which was in a folder. This is not an issue, just a statement to get it out there.
Other than that, everything is running smoothly and quickly.
I'll post more findings later!

Ok, first problem.
I have never had this or seen this before on any other ROM I have tested (WM5 or WM6). Sometimes when my phone is in standby mode, it won't come out of it - the screen remains black with the green light blinking normally no matter how many times I push the power button.
Any ideas? It has happened twice today, both times I have had to soft reset or pull the battery. The first time it happened, I had no additional programs installed on my Wizard, just the base Xplore 2.0 install; now I have Resco Explorer 2007 and Opera 8.65 on it.

That happened to me once today, at about 5 minutes after a soft reset.
I know we can fix this. So let's give more details
Me first :
* Running :
.- BatteryStatusExt.1.04.201.beta3.CAB build 0189 : NOT OVERCLOCKED
.- HTweakC_2_1_.1b.cab
* Other info :
.- I was messing with performance settings, the one HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1226171&postcount=10)
.- A little of tweaking with SK Tools
.- A phone call
All above were used in an 10-15 minutes before that happened
Please use my post as an example, and let's get the bitch :)

Guys , sorry but I think we have enough beta testers for now, so please don't send anymore "Pls, I want to be a betatester" PM's
I would give you all the link to download but then it wouldn't be a beta stage.
Trust my judgment and be pacient. The Core will be better only if you cooperate.
Thank you for your understanding !

I am using version 1.1 and this behavior hapened to me twice.
once yesterday and once today. I had to take the battery off and on both times. Do you guys think it has anything to do with battery status or cause of overclocking???

Just switched to Xplore 1.1 from Farias Real and I can already say I am impressed with the speed increase, and even more excited about the rumors of 2.0 being that much faster. Can't wait till its release, and even more so of the custom roms coming afterwards.

yes it alsa happens to me. Of course im using Xplore v1.1 and i think the reset problem is relate to the scaler option of battery status, i think there is a problem over there not in the rom itself.
Try putting the scaler and set the lower to a value less than 81, let it shut itself then press the power on button and in perhaps 1 - 10 tries your device wont come to life.
I tried it also setting the value with 143 or lower and this problem reduce it liklyhood but stills happens in 30 - 40 tries.
I just tried using omap plus (continuous overclocking) setting it to diffents speed and its not happening anymore, as i said i may be related to batterystatus plugin.

I am starting to think that this has to do with free RAM, but don't understand, if there's something that Xplore has, that's a load of free RAM...
This seems to be a challenge. In normal circumstances I like challenges, but this pisses me off.
I can understand that thing happening when using a bunch of memory sucking programs, but on a clean install ....
This can also be a CPU matter, and I remember experiencing something similar in the past while using WiFi

Hello everyone,
First of all I want to thank anichillus for a great Xplore 1.1 rom your work is much apreciated this is my first post on XDA EVER , even though I did alot of flashing and I do alot of reading here XDA is awsome, this time I had to post because I have been experiencing this behavior for a while and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere I am now using xplore 1.1, I also flashed a friend's phone with it and he has experienced it also, this behavior happened to me on WM5 T-Mobile ship rom before but was not as frequent at the time I actually though thought my power button was going out so I got rplacement phone and of course they had to send me a damn G4 one just to make my life more complicated when it comes to flasing it anyway the last 3 or 4 days it's been happening several times a day, so today I started removing apps one by one to see if it would fix it first app removed was SPB Mobile shell. bellow are the apps still installed on the device:
- SPB Mobile shell removed this morning but did not fix the issue.
- SPB pocket Pus
- Agile messenger
- Resco pocket radioOlsoft Stock Quotes
- Aspyr Media COD2 ( I have no clue what this one is and why it is there)
- DinarSoft Memmaid
- M$ Voice command
- inesoft Adress Book
- PHM Registry editor
- HTC Power managment
- Macromedia Flash Player 7
- Battery status 3
and 4 games
Friend's phone only has
- Battery Status
- SPB Mobile Shell
I am using a Wizard G4 CID Locked on Tmobile USA with Radio Rom 2.19, my friends phone that I flashed is a wizard G3 CID and Sim unlocked. both ovrclocked through BS to 260
I hope we can solve this issue as it is becoming extremely annoying.
Another isue I noticed is static and background buzzing noise when on the phone I tried Radio 2.40 and 2.19 they both sound the same maybe that could be looked into.
now I will put in my 2 cents for the 2.0. I think it should b as clean as can be I saw that many ar requesting smartskey I dont think it should be included because it si so easy to install and if one wants to use it to overclock it would be easier to do it all at ones that goes for OMAP too.

After about 7 hours of playing, I figured out something is goofy with the settings in settings>system>task manager. I have it enabled to end programs by tapping X. It doesnt appear to be doing so because I checkedd in settings>system>memory:running programs and all the programs I tested are still running even after exiting out of them.
Anyone else seeing this? :confused:

Yes. It worked after about 4 times.
Also, as an FYI, I still had to add the below registry settings to get wifi to connect reliably without 2 tries, sometimes 3.
HKLM\Comm\TnetWln1\HTCPreloadStatus --> 1
HKLM\Comm\TnetWln1\HTCPreloadWifi --> 1
Other than that, I am still playing. Hope I dont sound like a complainer, just trying to let you know what I see. This thing does run alot faster than 1.1. :D, seem like Activesync syncs faster, programs load faster, boot time was under 30 seconds, even with a filled today screen. Nice job.

-filelists are loading faster,NICE,
-2% CPU idle.

2. Wifi works without reghack (but i told anichillus that it sometimes work and some times not) for now I had no problem. - But remember the huge threads just talking about commmanager and problems. SOme have to use the settings some not. There is a cab for this.
3. After some problems with high CPU usage (20%) in standby - (and a huge Batterydrain) I flashed German AKU3.3 - and then Xplore 2.0 --> Now it works perfekt 1-2%
4. No Problems with calendar button!
5. IPHONE-button is useless in Commmanager - like in every WM6 Rom. You can switch VoIP on today screen (available-selected) but in commmanager nothing happens and the red cross is still there even if Voip is selectet.
BUT VOIP IS WORKING!!!
6. IT IS FAST - even if my benchmarktest drive me crazy.
