Well the fact that the P3300 will be upgraded and the P3600 won't is disappointing to say the least!

I just came on to say exactly the same thing, surely the Trinity is a much more capable device for WM6, and newer. I think HTC made a bit of a dumb decision there.

- Will other devices be added? Potentially. We’re in constant discussions with our operator partners, and if they’re seeing significant demand from their customers for a specific device then we will always consider it.
I think we still have a hope :/

Don't know, I think the fact an older model was mentioned, might be a hint.

My P3600 is not operator branded so I don't see how discussing with operators could give more hopes....
I think the meaning of that sentence is "if Operator X is willing to pay then we will support them to produce their WM6 customised version".

But if a version of WM6 exists, it's easier to adapt it to unbranded devices (I think)

So... don't complain here in the forum! Go to HTC, your operator and so on and MAKE PRESSURE!
good luck

It really is strange that HTC would release a WM6 upgrade for P3300 and not for P3600. Maybe it has something to do with the GPS? Although I would think it doesn't, since an official upgrade with GPS already came out.
Anyway, the file says it's not the final list of devices that will be able to upgrade. Hopefully, we will see an official WM6 on our Trinity.

My guess is that they spent a lot of resources on getting the much desired ROM update for GPS out that they are putting off the WM6 ROM until later.

I can understand that decision but don't approve it. For the P3300 they don't have a succesor because of the integrated SIRFIII. I don't approve it because my opinion is that the P3600 has been dropped into the market when they knew WM6 was coming too. Just like the PC's sold after november 2006 with Windows XP, you'll get an upgrade for Vista.
They should give us a clean quality WM6 ROM and I'm sure some in this forum can make a much better one from that one :D

I have it today on *very good* authority that WM6 for Trinity is being tested by HTC and a release is imminent. Don't ask me - I cannot reveal my source.

Haven't heard that one before, but who cares when we have so talented minds in here already working on it. Forget HTC, support XDA :D

Well the majority of people who use these phones are probably not as obsessed with honing them like we are. They probably would not wish to invalidate their warranty by installing homebrew ROMs. So an official HTC WM6 is always going to be a good thing. Plus, it is probably from their test ROMs that the xip section was "tapped" to make mun_russians ROM.
So dont look them in the mouth just yet.

I think he means the press release of Dopod announcing WM6 for their Trinity. It's pretty safe to say that it's not a queston of if but when an HTC branded WM6 Rom will be released

Well, if you look at the Dopod site, they have an official announcement that they will release WM6 for the Trinity. Dopod=HTC

Why are you all assuming he is referring to the Dopod WM6 ROM?
He keeps mentioning HTC, so perhaps he actually means .... HTC. It would make far more sense for HTC to make their own ROM rather than have all their users using a Dopod release.

HTC owns Dopod, daddy makes roms for junior

Yes, i know. But that doesnt mean they aren't seperate divisions and that this guy isn't truly referring to an HTC (HTC, HTC. HTC, not Dopod,... HTC) wm6 rom in the works.

FuzzMunky: From what I know HTC pretty much makes the base rom for all it's partners. The fact that Dopod announced a WM6 upgrade for it's Trinity, it's pretty safe to say that HTC will release one for their branded Trinity. Not to mention they said in their own press release that other devices may recieve updates based on partner intrest.
With that said, this is getting back to the release of the GPS enabled rom all over again so instead of constant threads, better to just wait and see and leave it at that
