DANG YOU double_ofour!!! DANG YOU!!! :D

I was actually becoming very happy with the Beta Faria Vanilla WM6 ROM and thinking I may just leave my phone be for a long time (yeah right). Now you release this with what appears to be very easy instructions. I've stayed away from cooking as I told myself I didn't have time to learn this (and didn't want to feed my addiction to a new level). Crap, I can see that my nights are going to be shot for the next week or so as I'm going to have to try this out...

My wife will hate you ;)

p.s... This really looks AWESOME... Thanks for this! :cool:

err... wait... that wasn't right...

Now just combine this with a dash or two of the ultra clean ROM that anchillus is putting together, simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes or until golden brown and BAAAAM!

I seriously doubt that I would load another ROM if I get those two together.

yeah RIGHT!!!

Thanks!

There is a file missing. the list with options in BuildOS is empty

i removed it.. because you have the freedom to add your own OEM Packages..

because everytime you add your own OEM software you have to edit the a file to appear in the checkbox list..

Hi All,

what file(s) exactly do I need to edit if nothing shows up in the BuildOS tool after I added extra programs to the OEM directory out of the RAR files downloadable from the ftp.xda-developers.com site ? Do those preconfigured packages also need to be changed first ?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

3) 5.2.968 WWE (Based on .mUn./X-plore ROM (available)

I think there is a problem with this file...........

Inside the SYS folder where the modules are there are no actual files. For example the 'DRM' folder contains another folder called 'wmdrm.dll', inside this there are other files but there should be the actual 'wmdrm.dll' file as well.

Have I missed something?

I can't find that dll in my dump either, I searched Orwell and mUn's and same story...also googled but no succes finding a download...
It should be there I think, but it's not missing from registry. That means either is not used directly either that the reg setting is missing too.
Good luck

This is normal.. hhmm.. i do i explain this.. this is because i decompile the ROM w/o using the recmod.exe..

but either way i uses recmod.exe to produce those ".dll" files inside the xxx.dll folders its still normal anf workable..

first off, great app. i've been gone for sometime but i just started again with my wizard.
so far i have only one problem, im using 5.2.968 WWE and i built it twice from scratch already but each time, i cant get the comm manager to open

Sarvatt
23rd April 2007, 08:27 PM
Same problem with the commmanager here. The OS is so insanely responsive compared to any other rom I've used that I'm wondering what else isn't working :) Haven't dug into it too much yet because my wife isn't home with the second wizard to compare to, but the commmanager files are there and registry keys look to be correct. It just silently closes right when its run.

Edit: I noticed the registry settings for commmanager were a little messed up, it looks like the rgu in /OEM/OEMAPPS/ is setting the registry to -

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager]
"SupportedFunctions"=dword:0000000a

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\8]
@="IR"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\7]
@="ActiveSync"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\6]
@="Vibrate"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\5]
@="DataDisconnection"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\4]
@="AUTD"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\3]
@="WLAN"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\2]
@="Bluetooth"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\1]
@="Phone"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\0]
@="FlightMode"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\9]
@="VoIP"

Then the the rgu in /OEM/OEMDrivers/ is setting it to this leaving the extra settings that aren't used.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager]
"SupportedFunctions"=dword:7
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\0]
@="Phone"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\1]
@="Bluetooth"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\2]
@="WLAN"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\3]
@="AUTD"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\4]
@="DataDisconnection"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\5]
@="Vibrate"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\6]
@="ActiveSync"

I'm new to all this though so that might be intended :lol:

Edit 2: Got the commmanager working by installing the 10 button one.

For comm manager issue install x10 commmanager button..
if you want to integrate it to your ROM you can convert your x10 comm button to OEM Package..

Hi Double_ofour!

First off, I wanna thank you a lot for this easy tutorial which I start running!:)

I had the same problem as this guy and then followed your tip here. But unfortunately I had no luck!:(
I saved the file on sys folder, copy later to OEM and replace all system words for OEM....then I quit and run buildos.exe. The following error shows up:
"BuildOS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Clicking on it, it just close as should be.

Before I apply this option file you placed here, buildos.exe was coming up showing only a bftp (bluetooth explorer) on the list.

So, any idea so that I can keep moving?

Thanks a lot! ;)

I've attached the actuall file that reads the buildOS.exe to show the list inside the OEM/SYS folder..

Paste it inside the SYS folder.. and to make it work in the OEM also.. open it with notepad and change the word "system" to "OEM" then save it to OEM folder as .xml file format..

I have noticed duplicate files in some packages which prevent the BuildOS.exe from completing and then generating an error message about duplicate files. In particular the MMS & Camera packages have duplicate files which is a bit annoying as I am not sure what is and isn't needed in either. Plus the .rgu files have conflicting/overlapping registry keys/values as well.
After deleting files and editing the .rgu files I can eventually get the ROM built, however this inevitably leads to some missing functionality in the resulting ROM. Currently the Camera doesn't work, I can't add an MMS server and there is no keypad on the phone..........

Does anyone else see this, or have you managed to edit the packages?

No worries, sorry I know the last thing you want to hear of is another request. I know double_ofour said to look at the dsm files to figure out the directory structure, but I didn't really get it. In any case don't worry about it too much, maybe I'll get motivated enough to start doing some serious reading on the matter and all my questions would be answered.

No, these are overlapping files within the OEM folder. It seems the MMS & Camera packages have duplicate files :confused:

In all honesty I didn't get any part of it. After I dump the rom I get 87 .dsm files plus if I open them up it's mostly garbage. I'm dumping the rom using molski's kitchen, so maybe that's the problem? should I be using another method, or are they all basically the same?

The '.rgu' file for the Adobe Reader LE Package looks like this:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf]
@="AdobeReaderLE.2"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AdobeReaderLE.2\DefaultIcon]
@="ppc_adobereaderle.exe,-154"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AdobeReaderLE.2\shell\open\comma nd]
@="ppc_adobereaderle.exe %1"

However the open command doesn't work when opening .pdf files with spaces in the filename. It needs editing to read:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AdobeReaderLE.2\shell\open\comma nd]
@="ppc_adobereaderle.exe" "%1"

However this generates an error when you attempt to build the OS with 'BuildOS.exe'. The registry entry can be updated once the ROM is installed and running but this is a bit cumbersome. Is there a way around this?

Thanks

Do you mean changing in the registry on the deive directly or when building your ROM? I think the tools that parse the files and create the registry 'interpret' things....
I built my ROM with the settings I posted previously, however once the ROM is built if I check the registry it looks like:
ppc_adobereaderle.exe "%1"

Should I be able to go ahead and cook with this file replacement, or am I missing anything?

I don't think that will work. I dumped the ROM using the Molski tools and then used the Package tool from here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296861

This took the dumped ROM and split it into packages. Once it runs, the application reports some missing files and registry customisations. I noticed that all the files it said were missing were actual files and not packages in folders (if you see what I mean :rolleyes: ). Anyway I manually copied the 'missing' files into the relevent folders (voipphonecanvas.dll & dnsapi.dll from VoIP & rtcdll.dll from VoIPOS for example). I assume this is what mUn meant when he said some stuff was taken from other ROMs?

I was then able to use the kitchen to re-build the ROM image. I had to add the 'option.xml' file that was posted earlier in the thread to get the SYS stuff displayed and selectable from the 'buildos.exe' application. I have even got some OEM stuff in there etc :)

That's as far as I have got though since even though this is a Vanilla ROM it is BIG and there isn't much room left. I also couldn't get MMS working with the existing MMS package (don't know why :confused: )

Yes, the same tools, Molski packaged them into batch files to make the job easier:

What stuff can be safely removed from the ROM to get some more OEM stuff in there? Everytime I try and run CreateROM.bat file it fails towards the end of the source files with an error:
Any unhandled win32 exception occurred in BuildImgfs.exe [2380]. Just-In-Time debugging this exception failed with the following error: 0x800400b3
Check the documentation index for 'Just-In-Time debugging, errors' for more information

Since the error contains the value '0x800400b3' and the file it stops on is towards the end of the alphabet (W or X I think?) my assumption is there is too much stuff in there. I can get Voice Commander and HTC ZIP & X-Button in there and that's about it.

With the previous mUn ROM I managed to get Adobe Rader, Faria's Camera & Streamer package (edited because of the overlapping files), MMS, Bluetooth FTP (doesn't work in any ROM other than Faria's unfortunatley), Task Manager, Total Commander, HTC ZIP, HTC X-Button 1.5, Battery Status, Live Search, Pocket Streets 2006 & the SIP Config tool 2.0.1. No luck with voice command. Also, I got a double power icon. One was on the "personal" tab and the other was in "system".

There are a couple of other missing items, but I'll use Molski's kitchen to iron out the minor issues.

Can you start from the scratch?.. i think you already screwed your kitchen.. thats why you have something missing.. double files.. etc..

make a clean one.. delete the old and extract/make a new one..

Because I can fine tune using some of the aspects of Molski's kitchen by opening the .hv files if necessary.

Ya you can do that in faria kitchen too!!! it is more automatic with faria, but you can do the same stuff!

I just want the best we can get, but with guys like you maybe i should stay at the better part then try and help guys like you to get a better rom

Now to the other GOOD people, as both kitchens are close to the same apart from some little things.

You know, I was going to do that, until I loaded up some files from Faria's kitchen and voila....voice command works. The double power icon is a registry bug that I'm tracking down. My guess is that it's in one of the packages I have added, not in the ROM itself. This is truly a good kitchen. It just took a little patience. Even with VC running and active sync in the background: 27+ MB available. WOW!

the kitchens are roughly the same. I actually use both, but i prefer this one. I think its more an organizational thing for me. Just like Faria has his files and rgu's and packages organized where it makes sense to him, i have the same thing with this kitchen. Faria's is easier to use, but that isn't always the deciding factor for me.

I noticed that after running CreatRom.bat, the file 80040000-OS.nb is placed in the temp folder.

My question is: Why is it the same size and date as the one that is in the ROM folder (that came with the original rom)? It appears that it's only getting copied and not modified. Am I missing anything?

I had the same problem. I flashed that, and it was the original mUn rom. I had to manually run imgfstonb.exe from another kitchen to create a new .nbf file. Any thoughts 004?

Also, for me voice command "has encountered a problem." and asks for restart which does not help. CorePlayer "cannot be opened...try reinstalling or restoring this file". Flash Player "has not been registered for this device."

I also note the duplicate power icon in personal and system settings. The one in personal settings is not functional however.

Otherwise all seems well. Thanks mUn and thanks 004!

Hate to follow up on my own post, but here goes...

I copied the voice command packages from faria's rom over directly and its now working. Removed flash player and core player for now. Can live with dupe power icon for now.

I rewrote CreateRom.bat to do what it's supposed to. (I wonder if I have an old version of the 004 kitchen?) If you are having the same problem as mattk_r and I were you can download the following with enclosed instructions.

Guys.. if you found something strange about duplicate icon and some files missing.. the only solution is to backup your OEM packages and make a clean one/ start a new one from the scratch.. because just my theory is you screwed your SYS folder or the kitchen structure it self.. i dont know.. just my theory..

-----------------------------------------

And about the Same size/date/time of the 80040000-OS.nb in the ROM folder and in TEMP..

Yes it should be.. because imgfs tools are poiting to the nb inside the ROM folder as its BASE rom..

-----------------------------------------

About the Flashing a ROM but still the same old ROM appears.. it happened to me several times but my solution there is to check/verify the encoded nbf after you used the nb2nbf tools..

-----------------------------------------

If you still found a problem.. please post it here and im willing to help..

I agree that it's a pain to get all the new issues worked out on a new package. Since I got the phone about 6 weeks ago, I've bounced between different releases trying to find one that meets all my needs. Now that I'm at a comfort level to dig deeper (and was home sick for the last 2 days), I figure it's time to play.

I've spent that time learning how to add OEM packages, edit the hives, play with the Options.xml and UUID's so BuildOS will work correctly, and mess with the splash screens. Next I'll need to dig into the extended rom...

Granted, it may be another day or two before I get my anal-retentive ways satisfied and have the "perfect" rom cooked, but I hope that in the end I have the latest and greatest and know a crapload about every little detail if its innerworkings.

Someday I hope to have the maturity and reserver you show, and I'll probably have a lot more time to spend with the family...:rolleyes:

Move the subdirectories containing the packages you want into the OEM directory. Move them out if you don't want them installed. Whatever is in the OEM and SYS directories is what BuildOS will use to create the rom. Hope this helps.

Hello,

In my rom i want the program spb-backup and batterystatus.

Both cab-files from both programs contain a file called setup.dll

When running BuildOS i get the error code that the file setup.dll allready exists.

This is because it first installs the file from spb-backup and then again wants to install it for batterystatus.

How to solve this?! Both programs need the file, i assume that both files have the same name but are different.

Mine seems to be working. Not sure what I did to make it so however. I am using the camera.rar which shows as 3170kb on my windows xp directory listing. Most of the files are dated 3/23/07. Its a bit erratic about opening though, my original link in the programs directory did not work at first. However an identical copy in another directory did. Also, I had to toggle the button assignment this morning to get that to work...

@hanzieman
I made the *.dsm file with a guid-number in a folder for my program.
Is it now that simple by just include the cab-file and i m done?!

You dont have to include the ".cab" file it self.. you have to extract its files inside and put it inside the folder you created along with the dsm files..
im prety sure you know how to extract the files inside the cab.. and whe you found that the cab includes some registry.. you have to extract those registry aand paste in in a new notepad and save it as the no. you generated (UUID) .rgu

@hanzieman
Step 5 it says:

You have to encode 80040000-OS.nb to nk.nbf to complete flash the ROM to your Wizard Device..

How to do that??

You have to use nb2nbf tools.. try to use the search button for downloads.. just check only "file 1" and locate the 80040000-OS.nb and select "OS" to the drop down menu and the address will automatically be entered.. then press the button "encode" and youll have a nk.nbf ready to flash..

@hanzieman
Hello, at some moment the program BuildOS says:

the file 'temp\dump\_setup.xml' already exists

But I can explain this, in different cab-files from different programs that I put in the OEM-folder this setup.xml file exists.

How to solve this problem, am i doing something wrong?

When building an OEM package make sure the file doesnt exist in any OEM packages and inside the SYS folder.. example in your OEM package 1 you have there readme.html and on the OEM Package 2 you also have there readme.html.. that is a BIG NONO...

@hanzieman
BUT HOW DO I RECONIZE THE REGISTRY-ENTER FILE??

If you;re using OCP WinCE Cab manager.. just highlight the "Registry" and click "file" "extract"-->" ".reg" after that.. open the exported registry and save it as rgu and make sure its unicode format..

@mattk_r

Hey double_ofour, is it possible to update the mms package so that it doesn't have the overlaping files with the camera package? I have the camera working fine on my install; I simply deleted the overlaping files on the mms package, not on the camera one. I will say that last install I did the mms folder wasn't created for some reason, but that's probably because I changed something I wasn't supposed to somewhere.

Anyways just in case the files are AAC.dec, AACDLL.dll, aac_reader.dll, amr_reader.dll, amr_writer.dll, AudioStrmReader.dll, colorConvScaling.dll, contactsdmenu.dll, contactsdmenures.dll, ditherRGB24toRGB555.dll, elatepushservice.lnk, EmEvrcDec.dll, EmEvrcEncdll.dll, EmG7231DecDll.dll, EmG723EncDll.dll, EmQcelpEnc.dll, gsmamrenc.dll, h263P3.dll, H263VIDEOENC.dll, ImageProcessing.dll, JPEGENC.dll, jpeg_dec.dll, MMSRes_240x320.Dll, mp3_reader.dll, MP4Writer.dll, MP4_READER.dll, MPEG4SPVIDEOENC.dll, player_middlelayer.dll, qcp_reader.dll, qcp_writer.dll, taskmgrCustRes.dll, and lastly taskservice.dll. As I said though, something went wrong now, I had previously deleted all those files and both MMS and the Camera were working.

Also exporting registry entries as I said before can be used for other customizing needs, set your personal information, MMS server settings, GPRS settings, you can make packages that will set all these up for you and save you the trouble of having to do them every single time, this way you can concentrate on more important things.

Deleting the files isn't working for you? I've had no real problems with the camera, aside from having to delete those files. My earlier issue with the MMS folder is getting more interesting though. I just noticed that probably at the same install that the folder wasn't created my wizard isn't getting a signal at all, also I am using the voice command package from Faria's kitchen and it's giving me some problems, and lastly after the first boot up whenever I reset the device it will freeze at the 3rd boot screen. For now I'll flash Faria's back on, tomorrow I'll delete the everything and start from scratch again to see if I can isolate the issues.

Ok, so ive been trying to use this new build and this kitchen, what appears to be the problem with mine is that the initflashfiles.txt doesnt exist in the mms folder. This contains the stuff needed to move the files to the right area. Also, overlapping files is just annoying, but workable. As for the camera, same issue. Im gonna try again if I can get them to work, but I think im gonna have to pull the initflashfiles from my vanilla to make them work.

Ok, I fixed the Camera and MMS OEM Packages.

Only issue I have is when trying to enter Picture mode with camera and in MMS only the Custom Template i showing.

Any ideas?

Edit: I figured it out. Those packages are missing the template files. Put them back in and guess what...... it works fine.

Edited once more: Removed last edit that said that didnt work. I had to go back to primative methods. My old ROM Kitchen to the rescue. So now to work on the Bugs. LOL. Anyone figure out what is wrong with the Voice Command 1.6 oem package? Never seems to work for me.

There is no iniflashed file for the mmc folder, you will find this entrys in a different one, maybe the main .dat file.

Ok so what files are you trying to get MMC and camera to see?

The VC 1.6 oem package doesn't work at all. You need to get the packages out of Faria's kitchen and it will work great.

Download options.xml from page 4 and save it in SYS folder. After that you will see the options.

I'm going to have to check this out. It may need certificates. If so, I'll have to run the old patch. We'll see in a couple of days. I'm building a Business Edition based on this ROM, but, I won't release it but to a select few people. I'm using what I learn to help a few of the better builders on this board to make a truly great ROM.

I'm not up on BT devices, but you're talking about handsfree, right? If I turn on my Samsung while the phone's bluetooth radio is on, it asks me if I want to attach to it. I enter the "default" password, and it identifies it as a handsfree and works fine. Or are you referring to the stereo headphones? Just curious since I haven't seen any BT issues yet...

Using this kitchen, add this file to your package in the OEM folder, and edit it to direct folder locations:

initflashfiles.txt

sample text:

;================================================= =====
; Start customoem
;------------------------------------------------------
Directory("\My Documents\My Pictures"):-File("Birthday_gift.gif","\Windows\Birthday_gift.gif")

;------------------------------------------------------
; End customoem
;================================================= =====

If you are just extracting a rom (hence just a dump folder), adding in files and rebuilding, just add them into dump, and they'll automatically go into /Windows.

Flash works for me on a rom built with this kitchen. I did not include flash as a package because the package attached to this thread is all sorts of messed up (as are most of the packages on the first post.

It works coming from this cab: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash/devices/pocket_pc/installers/fp7_ppc_en.cab

The one in the first post is some other type of flash, while the one I have linked to is simply an activeX control used by Pocket IE/Opera 8.65b.

I was able to watch a video on youtube with the cab linked above (although rather slowly). There are some problems with it though as some sites that use simple flash for menus cause the phone to freeze. I think the Wizard is seriously underpowered for the Flash content used on most websites.

Even if you could get it to work, in a package, I would not include it in a rom publicly because of the freezes and performance mentioned above. It works, but videos and all flash content from my experience is unwatchable/unusable due to speed of the device.

Yes I had notice your post regarding that. When I checked the registry entries though, I didn't have the key I was supposed to change, so I created it at one point, but still nothing. Is that entry for all version of WML, or is it for a specific version? If I remembered I tried it with faria's package, but I'm not 100% I tried it with the package included with this rom which is a newer version.

Anywho for the time being I need the phone, so I can't really mess around with it 'til the weekend. That's why I chose to simply install messenger via cab file.

*edit* This is what the key looked like:

you can't have multiple files with the same name. you will need to replace commanager with the one you are trying to replace it with. the one in mun's rom supports 10 buttons already so unless you need the black one, you just need to change some reg keys around

if you are using 004's kitchen with mun's latest rom, just change the reg keys to support 10 buttons since i don't believe you will search for this, here is what you need

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager]
"SupportedFunctions"=dword:0000000A

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\8]
@="IR"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\7]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\6]

yeah I do need help see how mfrazzz has these in his package
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Phone]
"Flags2"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN]
"EAC_GAIN_EMBEDDED"=dword:00000077

But like on the wiki and other places there posted like
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (REG_SZ string, including quotes)

Now i wanna know how to turn those ^ into the one Mfrazzz does without fucking up everything...

also a problem I downloaded the Commanger OEM package but it always says theres already a Commanger exe ect ect...so I installed it manualy via the Dump floder now the commangers wacky and only see the font =/

Here's a template you can use to convert a string entry. Strings have the key entry directly followed by the value. Other formats are specified with a dword:xxxxxxxx or whatever. I like to look through other .rgu files throughout the kitchen to get ideas how to format an entry.

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112] "Open"="\Windows\Calendar.exe"

For the most part, if you have a single registry entry, you can add it to any .rgu file, just being sure that package is included in the rom output. (and remember where you put it!)

As for existing files, that can be a really tough one. My kitchen configuration has packages that have already been taught to play nice together - hence to "the file already exists in ../dump/.." If you want to see what's different, tear it up. Otherwise, it's trial and error to a certain degree if you don't know what files need to be in what folder... that's when the initfiles.txt adds extra complexity, not to mention dlls... you get the idea.

Just fix the busted entry that is already there in the rgu inside of the OEMMISC folder. There is no reason to add an entry to any other rgu.

thanks. thats where i was going next with this.

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH! I assumed that the setting was supposed to be in the rgu file inside the WindowsLive folder, and there actually is a [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Windows Live\Platform\Passport] key so I didn't bother to look further for it. I'm building as I type, so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

*edit* Well I thought it was working properly, but the phone freezes upon reset if I enable the today plugin, so I guess for now it's back to the drawing board. *edit*

@ANTC

If you want to integrate the commanager, you need to replace the files inside OEMAPPS, the exe, dll, and mui file and then make a folder in the OEM and place and rgu file with the commmanager settings. That's how I have it set up and it installs fine. Whenever you get an error that a file is already present simply do a search for the file and it should tell you in which folders the file is present, then delete it from all but one folder. It shouldn't matter from where you delete it since files are going to be put in the \windows\ directory anyways. I also have an initflasht.txt file sending commmanager.lnk to \windows\appbuttons\ so that it's properly mapped to the commmanager hardware button button e.i. Directory("\Windows\AppButtons\"):-File("CommManager.lnk","\Windows\CommManager.lnk")
Good luck.

hello.

i'im download dOUbleofour_Wiz_Kitchen.rar and dOUbleOfour_Wiz_Dev_5.2.1413WWE.rar to c:\dOUbleofour_Wiz_Kitchen both, extract camera, mms, winrar, task manager, microphone fix to OEM subdirectory and run the buildos.exe programs (on windows xp sp2 english).

There are no any checkboxes into runned buildos. Whats i doing wrong ? How to run buildos with checkboxs to select "cooked" software ?

Here's something that really helped me. Use PHM RegEdit or DotFred's TaskManager's Registry Edit. Go find the keys in your rom (or some similar to what you want to do) and then use the Export feature to write these to a file. Now drag that file over to your PC and open it up in Notepad. You will have a properly formatted file for a .rgu file... Most are easy:

Strings (REG_SZ) -> "ValueName"="Value"
Dwords (REG_DWORD) -> "ValueName"=dword:00000000 (I use 8 places and the value is in HEX).

It gets tricky with stuff like REG_MULTI_SZ so finding one that exists already helps. Here's an example of one to fix the Menu sounds:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Snd\Event]
"Curr0"=multi_sz:"Alarm2", "Empty", "Alarm2", "Default", "Empty", "Alarm2", "InfBeg", "InfEnd", "InfEnd", "MenuPop", "HWandSW", "Empty", "Alarm2", "InfBeg", "InfEnd", "InfEnd", "Alarm2", "Empty", "Empty", "VoicBeep", "RecEnd"

But the key (for me) is remember to use PHM RegEdit or TaskManager's Registry Editor and the export functions they offer. It can really help. I've installed cab's on my phone then used the export to rip out the registry entries and then put those into the .rgu. Of course if you have access to CABWuz or WinCE CabManager you can export the registry entries right out of the cab itself too.

How .lnk files are created? I tried to copy and edit .lnk from other application but in that way my cooked roms hung up at second splash screen.
Thanks.

On your PC, startup notepad and then open a link file in another package. You'll see the format. Just change what it points to and then save it into your package with the correct name.

As I replied back in email, the syntax all looks correct now. Pull the package out of the OEM folder and see if you still have the hive error. If you do, then its something else thats broken. If you don't then its definetly this package.

I"M swamped at work and probably won't be around much until the weekend now. Have a bunch of stuff falling apart :(
