Well, it looks to be official, HTC is rolling out WM6 upgrades for some of their devices (as we all may have heard). Here are the current devices that are initially planned:

HTC Advantage
HTC TyTN
HTC S620
HTC P4350
HTC P3300

http://www.solopalmari.com/images/stories/007/04/WM6_statement_.pdf

But, there is somewhat of a silver lining. If you read the .pdf in the link, it may not be limited to just those phones. There will be no upgrade fees for the carriers, so it's up to the carriers discretion to release the upgrade for whatever devices they deem "worthy". I would think the best way to go about getting it released for the Wizard would be to contact your carriers and request it. If they get enough requests, I can guarantee they'll make that upgrade available.

Despite having some great releases from some great chefs, it would make cooking that much better with an official OS release.

At any rate, CALL YOUR CARRIERS!!

Quite different, unfortunately.

Quite different, unfortunately.

I hoped to get a more special answer. When you take a datasheet of both - it is the same. Just the camera and teh thicknes. So what is really different. And if people can crossover a hermes rom to wizard it must be possible to crossover a herald to wizard. becuse it is same function than wizard.

So what is the difference?

That's news to me. Who's been able to port WM6 from a Hermes over to the Wizard?

All WM6 for wizards are based on a hermes AM6 and mixed up with wizard stuff - mun does it for his base rom. MAny people now are developing this mun rom.

"New OS build contains not whole files from tytn's rom, but more of them.
As i said before: camera is oem application and couldn't work on wizard. And i rebuild some modules from tytn's rom by myself to force it to work.
Im going to finish my tests of that rom, but i can say now that it has very good perfomance. It works like a charm.
Btw, it is unique rom. All roms that contains os 5.2.968 and the same build or rom version, will have my rom as base rom. So I am the first man who made t"

Here is the response I received from O2 Data Support when I referred them to the announcement from HTC:

---
Good Morning Terry

Thank you for your email

I am not aware at present of any Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrade options being made available for our XDA devices including the XDa Mini S in the very near future. Historically speaking O2 has only provided ROM upgrades on the existing OS and has never provided OS upgrades on any of the XDA devices. Please monitor the website link attached below for future upgrades.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Maybe. But all based on mun are not real WM6 - and perhaps iīm one of the "I donīt believe someoneīs telling until i see"-people. But Faria mention a lot what he knows and what will come.

We will see.

hey

how about, everybody on here gets together and 'badgers' or (requests, to put it nicely! :)) a specific operator for the rom update?

rather than 10 people each asking 10 diff operators, lets just get together and ask one, would be more likely, and either way, once we have one official update in our hands, thats all we need really!

how bout it then chaps?!(and chap-esses)

That seems like a good plan to me. What operator did you have in mind? We should probably pick one that has traditionally been more open to upgrades in the past. That would definitely rule out Cingular/ATT here in the US.

Also, papamopps, give Dr. P. some respect and credit on the issue of what OS is based on what device. If anyone would know, he would. :)

I don´t wanted to blame anyone - espacially no Dr. P - I know he is a guru.
I only have some little problems with Faria´s behavio the last time. And i´m not alone with this.

Btw they´re doing great WORK and we all need it. Thanks to any Rom-cooker.

As for Faria, yes he can be a little bitchy, most genius's are.. :) Please realize though that he DOES "butter our bread", along with others. And he DOES endure a lot of nonsense and crap. Myself, I wouldn't have come back after some of crap that he (and me in a VERY small way) have taken here.....

Now, back to the OP! I doubt that Cingular is going to be of any help, morons... I WILL say that I've seen more come from T-Mobile regarding official updates with the Wizard (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

Great, so are we going for T-mobile US then? If so, we should probably get a serious campaign going with them in mind.

Yeah...T-Mobile here in the US is kinda doing what they can to keep existing and lure new customers since they are still behind in the 3G. They might be more open to being "Customer friendly"...... (I know these are normally not two words found together when describing a wireless provider :) )

I am on T-Mobile USA. Count me in. Lemme know what you guys plan to do (calling, email, etc....) and I'm game.

Does anyone work for a company that has made T-Mobile MDA a standard device? The are significant centralized IT benefits to the combo of Exchange 2007 and WM6. Perhaps you could enlist your IT officer to push.

This probably would be far more effective than just individual users making the requests, although we should continue to do so.

I think that's a great idea. Also, does anyone have a specific number or email address to contact T-Mobile in regards to this? I would think finding this info might be better than just contacting their general support department. I could be wrong though.

Yes, the main sales number for T-Mobile Business Services is 1-888-537-4242. Better yet, you can go to http://www.t-mobile.com/business/locator.aspx and find the name, email and phone number of the local Business Services sales rep that would handle your company.

Actually, I've been badgering T-Mobile for quite a while and their official response is NO, so far. Per one of the reps I spoke to tonight, they are not even going to sell the wizard/mda anymore. I then checked their website, and it is not listed there.

This is due to them releasing a new device. The "wing" which won't be called that when released now.

Do you of the specs on this new phone?

That is the new HTC P4350 (aka Herald) that will com from O2 Germany as XDA terra in May. The T-Mobile one looks a little bit different. But it is not the wizard - i guess.

Just called Cingular,
They said probably not! :(

They also said M$ may offer an update for a price (ie. a customer can purchase WM6 directly from M$). This is the first I have heard of such silliness! Oh, well...
