upgrading Athena from Chinese to english WWE

Dear All

I have a Chinese-language based Athena Dopod U1000 from Hong Kong.
After several days I still cannot upgrade to the WWE Rom which I have downloaded. I receive ERROR [260]: CONNECTION
The update Utility cannot connect to PDA Phone.

Sometimes I get another ERROR message saying that this Phone is not suitable for upgrading, since languages are not compatible...

I have tried to work around with LokWiz and another CID unlocker, with no results.

I have tried the english cab. It works. But it is not ok, since some menus remain in Chinese. The keyboard is still Chinese based. Some Microsoft apps are in Chinese, etc.

Sure, better than nothing, but my goal is to install the WWE ROM which I have downloaded from singapore dopod website.

well, there are more thing you can do, such as changing the region to english, and use Resco Keyboard to set english as your default input.

At the moment, i think you can't flash the singapore ROM, you will run into the boot loader problem that many member have

I have tried to install but I failed with the usual error country mismatch. I haven't reach the bootloader issue yet.

I have decompiled this ROM and had a look, the files are older than the ones on the Dopod, so I have not bothered doing any more work on this.

You will not be able to use the WWE ROM from Singapore as it has been region locked, However watch this space ....

you can't download wm6 for Athena yet, it's not available. And when official WM6 comes out in Summer, it will be region lock as well. What you should do is watch this forum because someone might comes up with a tool which will bypass the region check.

Me too, i bought a second hand unit, it is TWN CHT and I have also got the Singapore bonus pack and able to log in both TWN and SIN Dopod website to get the ROM, but since it is not unlock yet, I do not dare to try to flash
