You need netframework2 in your pc
The devwiz folder should be put in the root of the drive
Make sure explorer is set to view hidden and system files.
The rom is based in my realthing…..with the latest fixes and drivers.
How to create your rom;
In the devwiz folder there is CreateROM.bat this is the only app you will be using.
Launch CreateROM.bat this will bring up buildOS.exe .select the packages you want in you rom by ticking the boxes, or not, press the arrow to build you rom .WAIT till it says “done” at the bottom.
Close when finished.
Now the command promp window will do its thing,then it will launch nb2nbf_wizard.exe tick the OS box, now browse to the file; FLASH.nb0
put the correct addresses in the boxes ,press generate.
Close the app, now the upgrade utility will launch.
Flash you rom away!
To add the splash screen and htc logo included SEE THE tutorial.
How to create a rom package?
All the custom packages must go into the oem folder.
Create a new folder in the oem folder name it as your rom package, Open the folder and create a new text document call it “ package.rgu”
Note-.rgu files can be edited with notepad.
Save as Unicode, open the package.rgu file and add the following;
“REGEDIT4” ,make sure you leave a blank line after that entry. Now save it. Now you can add the reg keys required for you package if any. Also create a new file called initflashfiles.txt, save as Unicode, this is where you should put the shortcut entries and such if needed for the relevant package.
Use this format to add entries to initflashfiles.txt;
;================================================= =========================
; START faria my app- MASD customization settings
;================================================= =========================
Directory("\Windows\StartMenu\Programs"):-File("yourshorcut-name.lnk","\Windows\yourshorcut-name.lnk")
;================================================= =========================
; END faria my app- MASD customization settings
;================================================= =========================
Let say you package is total commander;
put all the files from total commander inside the package and add the required reg keys to the .rgu file and save it ,make sure there’s is always an empty line after the last reg key before saving.
Now we need to add the shortcut to programs, you can copy an existing shortcut from you device and put it inside the package, or make one.
To add the shortcut to programs we need to make an entry in the initflashes.
Create a new text file inside you package rename it to; initflashfiles.txt save it as Unicode.
Open the file and add the following entry.
How to make a shortcut?
Create a new text file, open and add the following; [#"\Windows\your-app-name.exe"]
Save the file with the name of the app like this; [your-app-name.lnk]
Shortcut done!
Save the file….that’s it you created your own package!
You can delete packages you don’t want from OEM only, the custom ones.do not delete x-faria settings package.
how to restore default extended rom?
replace the current entrys in the OEMOPERATORS package .rgu wit this ones;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm]
"AutoRun"="\\Extended_ROM\\autorun.exe (file://extended_rom//autorun.exe)"
"AutoRunCFG"="\\Extended_ROM\\config.txt (file://extended_rom//config.txt)"
"AutoRunType"=dword:00000000
"TurnRadioFlag"=dword:00000000
then copy the contents of the OEMOPERATORS package to the extended rom minus the rgu and dsm files,edit the extended rom accordingly with the new requires settings.
the config text that goes now to the extended rom has to be modified as this;
SHOW:\Extended_ROM\WallPaper.bmp
LOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Extended_ROM\my-cab.cab
XML: \Extended_ROM\my-xml.xml
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset
How to change the page pool?
Coming……
i will update as a can.....allot more to come.

Thanks again Faria,
Downloaded the kitchen, unzipped it to root. Was able to follow the directions ok. For those of you who try it, the package pretty much forces you all the way through to flash, so be ready! If you get confused about the flash screen and logo screen part you don't have to do that (I couldn't find the tutorial mentioned in the directions.), just do the os part. Tick in the box, browse to the file. Then go to the drop down on the right and select OS again. Then click in the file start address field and it will fill itself in for you. Then hit the Translate button, and away you go!
I just left everything on its defaults in terms of picking packages. The result is a nice plain jane vanilla WM6 rom, ready for loading with your favorite programs. I got 43 meg free storage memory, and 27 meg free program memory. There are none of the cool Faria stuff preinstalled except x-button, task manager, bluetooth explorer, adobe reader, pim backup, voice command.
I haven't had a chance to check everything out. But likely everything will be fine.
Question for Faria: How much "slack" is left in ROM for our own packages in the default setup?
Thanks again for all you've done Faria, I look forward to tinkering with this, until the next version of "Real Thing" comes!

didnt test that one.. but i am sure, we must wait for Faria's response...
I hope, that fix will be easy, because release seems to be good basis for makin new, great ROMS...but it should be tested...first.
Tool and contents.
only thing i know now, that reinstalling commgr didnt help. i did not test 9 button versions,though...only 10.
deletion of posted reg did not help.

fix did not work. i mean there were troubles with turnin wifi on, then, when i used other method to do so, i couldnt turn wifi and ir off... programms are trying to turn them ON, still.
btw, impressive low nrg drain, i must say, 192 kbps mp3 takes 15% of CPU on 92 mA. using 40thiplay. backlight in half way. Fantastic.
sry for LQ english...

The 10 button comm manager cab has a bad key. You'll need to delete the WLAN key and everything should work okay. You can leave the keys faria spoke of earlier, as they simply change the "turn wifi on" in the comm bubble to "wireless manager". Works like a champ.

Regards,
defaut setup....is about 6-8 mb....of course you can delete more stuff from the rom....for instances if you remove voice comand it will give you 4-5mb more.
please note ...if you overfill the rom the imgfs tools will give an error when building the rom.

P.S Ok one more thing and i will shut the H*ll up, ok i would like to use the Vanilla rom but i am not 100% sure how to sort it out like you have, is there a rule or something to go by or do you have to be in the know to do what you have done with the rom included with the kitchen?

the way my RK works is that if you do not select a package in the buildOS.EXE then all the relevant files and reg keys will be ignored when buiding the rom.
for now i advise not to touch THE sys folder or any packages that contain the name OEM.....
everything can be changed and replaced in the rom but you need to be very advanced in the field.

Sorry, this is off topic
So, I cannot open the cert_denis.cab with wince cab manager. But I can extract the xml. so ...you mean that I should add those provxml certs to the rom
in one of the provxml's already in rom, the mxip_SecurityOff_1.provxml for example ?

BTW, did you think is posibble to localize this rom to a diferrent language (i.e. spanish). I already prepared mui's files in Spanish (of course using hermes based) but I been having problems make it work.

[Edit: For those coming into the thread late, the posts which prompted this have been deleted. However it's probably good info for people to have anyway.]
I know this has been said many times before in different ways, but there are always new people coming in. Some of the people coming in just don't know better, and some are immature and there's nothing that can be done about it.
For those who don't know better, please understand that this forum was originally created to cater to an elite group of sophisticated people who were learning to hack the HTC PPCs. Teaching themselves really. Everyone here, from the senior posters helping the newbies, to the elite chefs, are doing this as a hobby. If Faria or Mun or other high level folks want to design a rom, or a rom kitchen for us to try then the right attitude is for the rest of us to be grateful for it. If we find flaws in their offerings, we can report them, or even better find ways to improve them and share the knowledge. But there is no cause, ever, to be angry about it.
Everything everyone does here is on their own. Everything is optional. Everything should be considered Beta, and "use at your own risk". If you aren't happy with that you should stick with your original rom, and call your carrier for assistance.
Having said that, some people will hear, and listen, others will disregard because of their own personality faults and insist that everyone else owes them a perfect rom or perfect kitchen, or that things should have been done the way they would have done it. I don't know what to do about them, they are always around, but I'm glad they aren't in the majority.
Regards,
ivanwinkel

Deleting the WLAN key per jwzg's message above, plus correcting the spelling in LM/ControlPanel/WrlsMgr - Commmanger has 3 m's fixes all the problems with Wifi, Wireless manager etc.
Also, replaced the Commmanager files with the BlackCommmager files before creating the ROM flash file, and it works without needing the cert_dennis cab.
Great work, Faria.

do you have explorer set to see hidden files?
what vanilla?
this is the final, you make it as you want....vanilha or not is up to you ,all you got to do is select the packages you want in....or deselected the ones you don't want!
make sure that the names for the shortcuts in the initflashes are the same as the actuall shorcut.
for instances.... Word Mobile.........the actual shorcut name IS; pword.lnk
by the way....the shorcut extension is lnk as i linkage not ink for pen.

I don't want to confuse things further or put words in Faria's mouth. I hope I am clarifying. I think some people are waiting for another version of the Rom Kitchen. I think Faria suggested he might be working on one that is better to use for someone who isn't quite as sophisticated a user.

I must be missing something really obvious here but I can't add my own OEM packages....
I followed the instructions and attempted to add Total Commander. I created a folder called Total Commander, added the Totalcmd.exe and a shortcut for it to this folder plus a 'totalcmd.rgu' file and an 'initflashfiles.txt' file (both saved as unicode). When I launch the batch file the BuildOS application loads but I don't see my package listed....
This must be something really simple I am missing :confused:

I think I have worked it out.....
You need to have an XML file in the directory. On the other ROM Kitchen thread started by double_ofour (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303195) he mentions getting a GUID for your package and using this unique ID as the name for the .RGU and .DSM files. I followed this and renamed my 'totalcmd.rgu' to '5220f306-f103-11db-8314-0800200c9a66' and then added a file called 'option.xml' that contained this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16" standalone="yes"?>
<Items>
<Item name="Total Commander" group="OEM" checked="true">
<Tip>Total Commander</Tip>
<Guid type="p">5220f306-f103-11db-8314-0800200c9a66</Guid>
</Item>
</Items>
When BuildOS.exe is ran I now have an entry for Total Commander under OEM section :)
I assume if you don't have an .XML file in there the files and settings get added to your ROM anyway?
No one explained this anywhere though :confused:

This is great!!! I have to flash it each time but i should have my problems solved soon!

I just wanted to say thank you for the easy to use kitchen to make a clean WM6 with the newest live messenger built in, and I wanted to post the working registry entries using your default commmanager instead of the other one posted incase it helped any. I chose to just edit the registry after install. The pictures for the tutorial in the mht are hard linking to files directly to your PC (AKA "C:\Documents and Settings\Jose A Faria\Desktop\pic 5.jpg"), I think thats what people were talking about with the pictures not working. I managed to get it working thanks to edhaas directions on the first page to fill in the blanks from the missing pictures regarding how to fill in the start address in nb2nbf, and insight on what to edit in the registry from other posts in the thread. No irregularities so far on hour 3 of stress testing it, I've made about 40 calls from another phone while doing things on a t-mobile (US) MDA ipl/spl 3.08 radio 02.69.11.

Faria - as always, amazing work.
I'm trying to understand how to incorporate my own packages into the kitchen. I've read every single message in this thread but am stumped about it. I can see that I need to create a folder for my package under the OEM folder, then create an associated rgu file. The rgu file should contain any registry entries for that application.
How do I know what registry entries are required for an app? For example, I'm trying to add PocketRSS so it loads with the ROM. The application consists of a single install exe file. After I install it I can see the installed files and probably figure out what registry keys it installs, but I'm sure you're not doing it that way.
My understanding is that we can insert any application and configure the kitchen to include that app in the final ROM. Am I totally misunderstanding the concept of adding packages to the ROM?
Thanks in advance for the clarification...

Two ways you could just write a initflashfiles.txt for the files and it will just move everything to that folder. or
Have you Extended_rom in the windows folder, make a cab file that that holders all the files and have it run the cab file and it will move all the fiel to the right folder! (Some one in the know, say if i am wrong) But i think in the config file you could have it in the Extended_rom but have the cab file in the windows file and put a
SHOW:\Extended_ROM\WallPaper.bmp
LOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Windows\mine.cab
XML: \Extended_ROM\my-xml.xml
LOCK: Disabled
RST: Reset
I dont know if that would work, hhhmmm i am going to try that when i get home!!!!

Have you Extended_rom in the windows folder, make a cab file that that holders all the files and have it run the cab file and it will move all the fiel to the right folder! (Some one in the know, say if i am wrong) But i think in the config file you could have it in the Extended_rom but have the cab file in the windows file and put a
I dont know if that would work, hhhmmm i am going to try that when i get home!!!!
Thank for answer.
I prefer initflashfiles.txt but I don't know the commands for moveing files from windows folder - they just copy :(
example:
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories"):-Directory("Oxios Memory")
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Oxios Memory"):-File("CloseApps.lnk","\Windows\CloseApps.lnk"
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Oxios Memory"):-File("Hibernate.lnk","\Windows\Hibernate.lnk"
with this I've CloseApps.lnk and Hibernate.lnk in windows folder and in Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Oxios Memory folder.
And I want to just move them to Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Oxios Memory folder.

Just make a Folder in OEM
All you need is msim.96.dll.0409.mui
and the DSM file
and when you build you rom it will be put in the right place and it just works!!
You dont have to do much!

Is it only me? I can't get "minimize all" behavior when I tap the hangup button (when not in call). Instead it drops GPRS/Edge connection, which it should do only on tap and hold.
Am I missing anything?
this release is outstanding, everything flies, edge is fast, even Live email seems to be quicker and more reliable. And ROM Kitchen is cool, lots of fun.
Thanks. Would appreciate if people could confirm this issue either way.

You can make this as vanilla as you want, you can tell it to not install some things (like the VOIP files for example) I don't know if it's Faria's "Official" vanilla rom or not. This is worth looking at at least. Mine is running really well. Faria did a really nice job on this kit. Can't thank him enough for this. Now I just need to figure out how to do some of the more complicated things. Looks like I'll be doing more forum reading! :D

I think between your instructions, and the loading screen addresses from post 105, people can puzzle most if it out for themselves unless they are adding their own packages. Cooking for the masses!

I finally bit the bullet last night and decided to upgrade from the Faria Vanilla Beta and tried this out. Only issue I had was that when you create the file, there is not a choice for the HTC Logo (in the right column) and if you choose splash screen it puts in the wrong address. You have to put the address in by hand and not choose anything for that. I think the program from the 3 splash screen thread will do this properly. I may look at using it instead (as I like how it populates the addresses for you). Not sure it does all the options though.
So I'm now running on my own slightly modified version of the Faria Vanilla and so far so good. Now to start looking at adding stuff in that I always use and create a rom for that :). This is sooooo coooool.... (and yes, my "addiction" has went to a new level)...

Back on to the topic of cooking...
What exactly are the FWUPDATE and bth_hid packages used for? Everything else is pretty much self explanatory but not 100% sure what these are for...
FWUPDATE looks like some sort of firmware update prog (for what?) and bth_hid = a way to hide your bluetooth?

Also you want to know as it is the file that supports the languages. I right now have seen like to make my own ROM ... as I to identify it if I arrive to make a shelter of the ROM of my apache ... do to begin with to work at that in Venezuela.

I apologize if this was answered already, but does this package include your Modified Radio stack?
mfrazzz
25th April 2007, 02:31 PM
unzip this package....put it in your oem folder.....this folder only contains a package.rgu file.......now run build.os.exe......you will see that the package.rgu file will be replaced by a dsm and rgu with a unique guid code. THE rk GENERATES guids codes if it finds a package.rgu file in any package.....so ther is no need to go and get your own guids codes.
ps.
you can use this pacake as a template for your future packages.
I just tried this and it does work. The package.rgu turns into a unique guid.rgu and another file called unique guid.dsm is created. This happens after you press the green arrow to run the buildos.exe. So yeah, you would run buildos.exe, and let it process, then can go back into the oem directory for the package and add the other files needed to setup the package. Very cool.

Yes. WHen you first boot after flash, you go through the screen setup, learn how to cut and paste, setup timezone, setup password, and setup email. Looks just like a production rom from that standpoint.

The Stock Cingular 2.25 is no better. You have to go to the Tmobile 2.19 UK radio to use WM6 on the Cingular network. The issue is something to do with WM6 and the newer Radios on the Cingular network. The same radios on WM6 but on T-Mobile (and other nets) seem to be fine. One speculation is it has to do with the 850MHz band (which Cingular almost exclusively uses, where T-Mobile uses 1900MHz). Would explain why people on Cingular have issues but others dont' seem to have the same issues on WM6.
Anyway there are many other threads about the radio issues. Check some of them out and lets stay on topic with the Faria ROM Kitchen here.

Ya File export, Export to Reg, then just change the file extention to RGU, and it will work no problem. And when you do it that way, it also fomats it right for you. With the regedit4 at the top and a blank line at the bottom! Then you just have to chnage the file name to what you need.

To change from dots to slashes in the date, you need to go to Start > Settings > System > Reginal Settings > Time and then choose the seperator (it may actually already show a slash, but choose it again and it will really change it). Also make sure your region is set to English (US) and not English (UK) (the default for this rom).
As for the timestamp on sms messages, I thought I saw I was getting that, but I'll check that today.

The rom is in the kitchen. If you download the rom kitchen (in the first post) and extract everything, there is a directory under the main devwiz one called flashrom. Just go into that directory and flash the default rom that comes with this. You don't have to use the kitchen if you don't want to...
Faria, can we package up the default rom and then post a link to it in the original Faria Vanilla thread? There are a lot of people that want just the rom and not the kitchen (and probably shouldn't have a kitchen :rolleyes: )

You don't have to put anything in those boxes. Only check the boxes that you have the pieces for. So for most people they are only going to check OS, SPLASH, and HTCLOGO. (and you don't even have to do SPLASH and HTCLOGO if you don't want). The other things are there for if you do want to build a more complete rom, but they aren't required and shouldn't be used unless you know what you are doing (especially the IPL and SPL ones as thats where bricked devices can be created if those are done incorrectly).

Hi all!;)
I really need an extra help on this one. I´m a bit confused about the main initflashfile file and others we create for each new package we decide to have and the GUID number we also have to build.
Correct me if I´m wrong...
1. Should we create an initflashfile for each new package and put on the <applicationame> in the OEM folder? If yes, have we also to modify those 2 byte files (FF-FE) for each init file as well?
2. What about the main one found on SYS/OS? Any new entry here?
3. GUID number- I´m in doubt if we have to modify each file that contain a GUID for the one we just got from the website?? I actually didn´t understand the needs for that ID.:o
Thanks a lot for comments at this time...:cool:

First let me tell you where i am at. I was running Farias WM6 Real Thing Rom, but there were a few bugs and a lot of junk programs i didn't want.
so i used the kitchen to flash my rom, which went fine, the phone flashed and everything was ok, however i left DRM selected which i dont want by mistake. and MS office icons are not in the programs menu, but the pword and pexcel files are in the windows directory and do load fine when executed. but i dont know why this was the case when i did have office selected.
and the major problem is when i connect via usb, activesync recognises the connection. but doesn't ask to create a partnership, but goes directly to guest profile. (I am using Activesync 4.5) and when i try to connect to my vista machine with Mobile Device Center i just recieve an error when the connection is active. I cannot even use the phone for push email with my exchange as i am unable to install my self signed certificate as it states it is unsuccessful.
so i tried to run through the kitchen again de-selecting DRM and reflashing, but when it tries the flash i recieve error ERROR [212]: FILE CREATE The update utility can not create the requested file. Please check your update utility. so i reset to the bootloader and tried the flash again and recieved error 300 saying i needed an updated Rom Upgrade Utility.
I then tried to install the Tmobile Ship Rom but this would not work as the upgrade utility reports that it cannot connect to the pda with various connection codes even in the bootloader.
My Wizard is a G3 device and has been CID unlocked and i have installed many a rom on this phone.
please help as i am on a malfunctioning WM6 rom that i cannot connect to via activesync and can only use for making calls only.
any help much appreciated, i have had occasional problems flashing in the past but i could resolve these easilly but this is leaving me stumped, it seems like the sync portion of the phone is not working correctly so i cannot downgrade to my original tmobile uk rom.

Funman cheers for your help but i did try that and got error 300 numerous times which points to the phone not bieng CID unlocked IMO, but i have finally managed to get the tmob update onto the phone by uninstalling activesync and re installing a few times then finally i got it on.
one thing that might be worth pointing out, the rom kitchen install went on ok without error but activesync wouldn't work and it seems that the rom wasn;t complete, i wanted to just check battery power remaining, and there was no power icon in the cpanel or backlight icon, and funnily enough no connections icon in the connection tab. it just seems that the rom wasn't complete.

I have guess about the problem. Maybe you can confirm it.
Well, I deleted most of the programs from the strat up folder. WifiIni, outlook, etc...So, the only ones I left are capNotify, btdwake (I also added smatskey and startclean) So, I guess maybe I deleted the wrong things?
Could you clarify for me what each of them does?
Here what I gues they do:
wifiini --- initializes wifi, so that when I want to turn it on I don't have to click twice to do so.
outlook - something has to do outlook, but I don't use it, so i don't need it.
btdwake - have no idea what it does, but it seems that it has something to do with bluetooth waking :).
capNotify ---Caps lock notification
So, are they all safe to be deleted? If not, which of them are not?
Thanks for help..

Well I didn't flash the logo :) I flashed only OS. And then flashed the same logo from a seperate file that I found in the posts. And then flashed the sperate radio, which I also took from ftp.
I remeber Faria was talking about this problem with his [real thing]. He said that it may freeze after you flash the rom, but after you make a softreset it will be ok. That's due to large number of applications loaded. However, I flashed the [real thing] couple of times and never had what Faria was talking about. I thought I was lucky :)
But now when it comes to the vanilla rom, it appears that I am not as lucky as I though I was :)

Maybe could do something wrong building the rom. If I don't want to use the kitchen and just flash the rom, I can just flash the rom from the flashrom folder. However, I don't want to do that because the rom that is there has problem with commanager. And to fix that I have to replace the option.xml file. So, in fact, it appears, that the rom can not be flashed right away without messing up with the kitchen.
I hope someone uploads the fixed rom.

After 8hrs, I finally have a rom that I'm somewhat satisfied with. However, in the process, I noticed that the ringtones in one of my roms would not be displayed if I didn't include Media Player. It would just be a blank list. I recreated the ROM with media player and the list was back. I didn't really pursue this issue further but just thought I'd leave a note here... Maybe it was just a bad flash.
3. GUID number- I´m in doubt if we have to modify each file that contain a GUID for the one we just got from the website?? I actually didn´t understand the needs for that ID.:o
If I recall correctly, GUUID means "Globally Unique Universal ID" and are used for compatibility purposes. For example, if you have two instances of a program called "Package" which both write keys to the registry during installation. Assuming programs that are installed write their keys in HKLM/Software/<Program>, keys may overlap and interfere with each other. Hence, GUUIDs would be used... Note that the GUUIDs automomatically generated are not guaranteed to be unique. For commercial uses, GUUIDs actually need to be ordered and registered.

Thanks Funman for bring me up this thing...but I´m still stucked at the BuildOS.exe point. I mean, something still seems to be missing around.:o
I´ll try to be more clear...if I only decide to flash what I´m just got from the Kitchen pack, it works. If I start selecting only items I want, it still works. But If I de-select items that I do not want, then it doesn´t work.
Why? The difference in this point is that I only added new packages rom I created like these below containing:
- Btcrawler: no gru file, iniflashfiles.txt, dsm file, shortcut, exe file and option.xml file
- Mobile secretary:no gru file, iniflashfiles.txt, dsm file, shortcut, exe file and option.xml file
- Resco 2007: all above + a gru file (registry entries)
- SPB Phone Suite: no gru file, iniflashfiles.txt, dsm file, shortcut, exe file and option.xml file
What happens after? Loading CreateROM.bat or going loading BuildOS.exe directly, it reports an error saying: BuildOS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Then the funny thing is that if I remove these packages I added and reload the process, no erros, no problems. Everything seems to be working again...:confused:
So, what the hell is going on here? Am I doing something wrong? Missed any entry? Reached ROM limited?
Really..no clues here!:(
I thank you all for comments.:cool:
1. If you what a link to be put in your start menu or something yes. If it has .dat at the end delete the 2 bits, if it has a .txt at the end you do not need to!
3. Sorry that is one way of doing it (My way), i messed up you do NOT need to do that, i have updated the PDF file to show the other way of doing it. I dont know why but it is needed!!!

Guys,
Has the wifi problem been solved? Is it working now?
Thanks
The wifi works fine now. Just be sure to replace the options.xml file in the original download with the one faria provided a few pages back, before building the rom.
BTW, just to document, the fix in his options.xml is different from the workaround which was posted earlier in the thread.

Read!!! You can delete from the main file, or over ride it by having the right key in your package folder
I did Read!!!
I know I can delete file from tha default.hv, but it's a hassle...
Simple question was if there is a way to *delete* a registry key or value. I know I can rewrite values...
Thanks anyways.

Ok check all you packages, i found something that when i did some of my .rgu files, buildOS did not like them, so i had to take a package pre made and copy the .rug file and edit with my reg chnage the name to my package name and it was ok!
So the main thing is that you know the problewm is with one of your packages, now you just have to take down the right one, so takes all you packages out and put one back in the folder one at a time. then you will find which one is making problems for you!!! Sorry not much help. If you dont get it sort, zip.rar your package for me and send them to me and i will have a look.

I want to thank all of you guys! Faria for this great ROM and kitchen. It was awesome to "roll my own"! But I still need more! (or less I should probably say). What do you actually need to make this thing work? I chose not to install "Voice command". I use Cyberon Voice dial. I have 100+ voice tags saved. I found the latest version with backup here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35628&d=1174273367) on this forum. I installed it to my storage card, and it works perfect. There was a little confusion getting it to work with button 4, because the two options are backward. Had to assign it to button 4 (press&hold) which makes it work on (press&release). I assigned "Notes" to Button 4, but it doesn't launch with the voice recorder. Anyone know how to fix this?
But that is not the only reason for this post. I have a few questions:
1. When using Xplorer 1.1 if I alt-clicked on an .EXE file, it gave me an option, "Send shortcut to programs folder" Does anyone know how to get that back?
2. How much do we really need to install for a TRUE VANILLA inst? I install most of my Programs to my Storage card. After a flash I simply create shortcuts to them in the programs folder, and they work fine! Even "Voice Dialer" (see above). can we have an "Office cab" file and install it to the Storage card. I don't realy care about "Bubble Breaker and Solitaire" but couldn't we have them in a cab file and install them to the Storage Card as well?etc...

Greetings Faria,
You have heard the praise before so I will spare you a long one here. Just wanted to say nice work! This is going to be phun! I can't believe just how responsive the UI is.
A couple little snags that I had but prolly my dumb fault if anything. I tried to flash at first with IPL/SPL 3.08 and flash failed at 99% leaving me stuck at 99%. I got everything working again but I just wanted to mention this in case anyone else has ever had this issue. Anyone? Anyway, worked fine once I recovered, went back to t-mob rom and flashed again.
Secondly, is there a trick to getting the 10 button Com mgr working with Wifi? Works great with your 2nd option.xml and the 9 button but I can't seem to get the 10 button working. After modifying the reg per your guide I hit the button and nada.

Hi,
1) I liked that too about the x-plore rom. I'm guessing its a feature of the Hermes rom that it's based on. This Faria rom is based on a true Wizard WM6 rom which was never released publicly.
2) Take it down as much as you like. (Play with it) However, the major reason to take things out is to make room for things you are going to put in instead. What you leave in and don't use generally doesn't affect your leftover storage and program memory.
3) Enterprise is ipsec and vpn stuff. Good for corporate users mostly. I took it out of my own rom and don't miss it.
FWUpdate not sure, but when I looked at the files I decided they might be needed and I kept that.
DRM (Digital Rights Management). Needed if you want to listen to protected music or watch protected video. I kept it myself.
Have fun,
Tsuioku

HKLM\Comm\Tnetwln1\Parms\HTCPreloadwifi -->1
HKLM\Comm\Tnetwln1\Parms\HTCPreloadstatus --> 1

Guess I wasn't clear enough in my earlier posting... Re-using GUUIDs are a big no-no... One of their main uses is to prevent collision... By reusing them, you are causing collisions... Another way you can cause an error is if the GUUID of the rgu and dsm files don't match... Just a heads up...

1. What are Enterprise, FWupdate, DRM?
1. I dont know, you would have to do some searchng for that one, as i have not seen it happen before.
2. Most fo the needed programes are installed by default, the ones that show up in BuildOS, are to the most able to be not installed with out programms. And, there is no point in making cabs files for some of these, as they came from cab files, so its a case of just search.!!!
3.I know FWupdate (Firmware update), is so your PPC can get updates like winXP, but there is no updates yet, so you can have it but it is pointless at the moment.
I believe that DRM = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Rights_Management
Enterprise, is some driver that are need for smartcard and a couple of things, if you dont use WIFI, i dont think you need these. But i could be wrong, so if you PPC stops working!!! This is only a guess that my findings.

Is the phone unlocked? It sounds as though it isn't. Is it a G3 or G4? IPL/SPL versions. We need lots of info from you before we can help. You really need to spend quite a bit of time reading prior to flashing a phone.

Have fun,
Wow edhaas thank you for answering my question!
1)There has to be a registry change that makes this work... I'll see if I can find something.
2)Or make big page pool, and cache changes.
3)Don't need any of that stuff either!!

Guys,
It seems that only me didn´t get to the flashing end point yet!:(
I´m now stuck into another error message...
During the buildos flashing process (creating registry), I came up with the following pop-up error: error building default.hv and user.hv:confused:
Lights please!!!:rolleyes:
Again check your log file, the last entry should tell you GUID # of the package that failed, after do what funman suggested and take the *.rgu file from a working package and paste it to the folder of the package that failed, open the old rgu file with notepad and put in whatever entries you need to put, save the file, don't use "save as", delete the old one, and rename the pasted *.rgu appropriately. Just out of curiosity what package is it?

You have a bad reg key some where, check all your .rgu files that you have made!!! I use a pre made .rgu so i know it is good, pull one out of one of the other folders and delete all but REGEDIT4 and add you own.

Re: 2) What you take out of the ROM won't directly affect what you do with page pool and cache changes. Those come out of RAM (program) memory, and there isn't much to be done about that except minimize the number of programs you actually have running at a given time. Although come to think of it if some of these packages you are removing actually run silently in the background and you take them out you might free up some ram. You could use memmaid or task manager to look at your processes now and get a sense of how much you might save. Let us know how much extra program memory you are able to free up with your changes!

Is the phone unlocked? It sounds as though it isn't. Is it a G3 or G4? IPL/SPL versions. We need lots of info from you before we can help. You really need to spend quite a bit of time reading prior to flashing a phone.

masr1979,
thanks a lot for your response. I actually did this procedure and also followed what funman said but I still get this error during the flashing process under registry creation. let's umbury this thing in a more clear way.....
i'm trying to install these packs:
- btcrawler
- ppcbckcontacts (first release)
- resco 2007
- spb phone suite
- mobile secretary
- battery status
- memmaid
for each one, I created a dsm file, option file and a initflashfiles.txt. if one pack needed a gru file, then I put one there. both dsm and gru files got the same guid number to avoid that possible conflicts.
I got all guid numbers from that site mentioned by faria on his tutorial.
I also followed what you guys said replacing the failed one for the working one and then typing or copy/paste the registry keys into it. it didn't work as well.
that's my history so far.
I don't think that all those packs can be causing this. if I had overfill the rom, i'd get an error later not during buildos execution.
thanks buddy. I don't give up easily...so,lets have fun little more! lol!

It's good that you don't give up easily but what were the results of the suggestions that people have given you? You were given two excellent methods to find the problem...
1. Check your log file... What does it say?
2. Remove all the packages and try them out one by one to single out the problematic package. If all of them produce the error, there's clearly something wrong w/ how you're making them...
All packages should have an rgu file no matter what. There should only be ONE rgu file per package. If your package needs to write to the registry, put it into the rgu file named after the GUUID. Also, make sure when you save your rgu files that you select encoding to "Unicode" and that there is at least one blank line at the end...

hey funman! here we go again
maybe i'm pushing this to far but I really started feeling excited to have all this done! thanks for your support.
I think I had followed what you just said but it didn't work. I've just post a reply to masr1979 describing a bit more about the environment i'm working on.
what you mean about getting a pre made gru? I got a working one from a different pack, removed all text and paste again. didn't work.
i'm typing from my device now...later i'll back to my desktop and start digging little more. will see
regards
