Hi Guys
I was using Black 2.0 with SPL 1.40.Olipro (HardSPL_v6) and Radio 1.41.00.10 and this afternoon decided to upgrade to Black 2.5 with SPL 2.10.Olipro
Everything worked well, until i got home, where i noticed no matter how hard i tried wifi/wlan would not detect any networks. Did a few searches but decided to go back to my previous config to see if it still worked or if i did any permanent damage to NAND/EEPROM blocks :(
First i tried Black 2.0 still with SPL 2.10.Olipro and Radio 1.41.00.10 but to no avail.
Next i downgraded SPL to 1.40.Olipro (HardSPL_V6) still with Black 2.0 and Radio 1.41.00.10 then everything worked!!
Immediately after that Black 2.5 went back on still with 1.40.Olipro and Radio 1.41.00.10, the moment WLAN/Wifi was enabled, a window poped up with a "New network detected" prompt.
Those with WLAN problems please try downgrading your SPL to 1.40.Olipro (HardSPL_v6) as i believe 2.10.Olipro may have some bugs?
Please post feedback for those that have tried.
Cheers!

Well, I am not sure what is posted below is necessary. I have Black 2.5 and SPL 2.10 Olipro (with Radio 1.41). My WiFi works fine ... and I did no special tweaking (other than to install the cingular settings).

Are you getting an IP address from the router? Usually its in the format 192.168.x.y
If you have an IP beginning with 169.x.y.z then make sure DHCP server is enabled on your router's config page. Do a search im sure this has been covered here before somewhere in greater detail.

I've tried everything, including using SNIFI and SOCKET WIFI softwares to connect to my existing netgear router(WEP enable) after upgrade to WM6 Black 2.5 and Radio 1.40 but unable to detect the network:confused: . After several hours, the only solution that work is: Turn on WIFI, DELETE existing connection, and add new connection (with WEP key)- and everything works !!!! . Hope this help:D

I am having no trouble at all with WiFi, see signature for setup details.
Had 1.41 radio first, then upgraded Black 2.5, then SPL 2.10, no reasoning for order that I did it in, just did it as the upgrades were available.

Although i dont think order matters, but i did the following which didnt work for me :(
1. Radio 1.41
2. SPL 2.10
3. Black 2.5
Maybe i should try SPL 2.10 last now that everything is working :)
Btw did anyone notice a slight decrease in speed/response from Black 2.0 to Black 2.5?

I did a Textbook upgraded based on "Mr Vanx" upgrade guide to Black 2.5/1.41.00.10/2.10.Olipro (HardSPL v7)
every thing works perfectly except I can connect to my Netgear wireless router, it detects it and ask for the key, but will not connect.
Not with WPA-WSK or WEP, I have tried everything (removing settings, upgrading router firmware changing from G to B, Hard Reset and not a sausage, it was worked perfectly before the upgrade.
Wififofum2 detects in but failes to recognise the type of security.
I am going to try putting the retail imate back on

I'm on Black 2.5, 1.40 and Wifi turns on, does not detect the network... even with a manual CONNECT through connections
Let it sit a while, with wifi on, 10 minutes maybe, then it decides to pop up Network Detected... truly weird..

Running all latest ROMS (see my sig.)
When I turned Wifi, it appears from the device to be working, but it did NOT pick up any signal at all. But...
I DID get Wifi to finally come on, I believe, by turning OFF my Cellular signal in the Connections app, and then turning on Wifi. I think it took a couple of mins to popup, saying my ssid was found at that point.
If anyone finds a real solution, please post!

Hi guys,
I've been reading the forum long time and this is my first post.
My phone is Softbank X01HK and I am currently running Black 2.5 with the buzzing cap, SPL-2.10-Oilpro and Radio 1.38.00.11. My phone works well on Wifi, HSDPA, GPRS-EDGE and GRPS. I have 2 phone numbers with 2 different provider in Hong Kong, Hutchison 3-HK and Peoples.
I used to have SPL-1.40-Oilpro and until yesterday I flashed to SPL-2.10-Oilpro. Surprisingly but weird, I have found my 3G reception at home gets 1 to 2 bar better right after I have SPL-2.10-Oilpro installed. It is so weird cuz I thought the boot loader has nothing to do with the 3G reception, also, everything else still works without any noticeable different.
I was planned to upgrade my Radio Rom to 1.40, but I think I'll stick with 1.38.00.11 for while.
Hope this help :)

for folks expereincing issues with;
1. turning wifi on/off, please try an WiFiFoFum / BattStatus as an alternative to turn on/off the radio and report back...using wififofum do the following;
- use the power-on option to turn the radio on
- then configure your wep/wpa setting as normal
2. browser locating website/encryption/"not working with my router" etc..
- please try using Opera Mobile if you have only been testing w/PocketIE and report back
I've noticed issues with PocketIE and various WLAN settings and I'm trying to pinpoint the root causes as well. What I can say is that using 3rd party products do seem to fix/alleviate most of my WiFI issues.
cheers

I could connect fine using 2.5.... When I flashed up to 3.01 suddenly my wireless has gone all strange...
wififofum picks up the 3 networks in my area....
windows mobile wireless only detects my neighbours one and occasionally my flatmates wireless....
When I try to connect to his network, I put in the correct details, however it won't associate....
When I rename my wireless network and change the channel, it still doesn't come up in the windows mobile wireless scan
I reflashed back to 2.5 and it seems that the problem is still there
I have reflashed back to 3.01
hopefully someone can fix the wireless stack...

With Black 2.5 would not connect to unsecure network either. Would see network, but would not connect. Same with a secure network, would keep asking for network key.
I have now downgraded to WM5 version 1.31.305.2 (Telstra).
Wifi works fine again. Will have to search a bit more and try Black 2.5 again or maybe Black 2.0.

I have no problem on an open wifi network. All works fine.
My home wifi network is password protected and after it sees the network and asks for the password, no matter what I try it will not accept the password.
I have tried various versions of WM6 - all seem to have the same issue.

Are you using WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK, or is it WEP.
I'm using WPA-PSK with a Linksys WRT54G, but it's running DD-WRT for its firmware.
I initially had issues when moving from Black 2.5 to 3.0, then to 3.01. All I had to do was reboot the router and I was good to go. And, I am also hiding my SSID, so that is probably the most difficult WiFI setup to use.
Give the reboot a try.

yes there is also DHCP adress geting problem (it showes up with that way that hermes is not able to get IP from AP, but on manual setings it works fine)
but i'm starting to think that it is more AP's side problem than PPC's

Wififofum picks up the network , but I still can't associate with the network... (wpa)
I have the same issue. Just upgraded to Black 3.5. and Radio 1.41.00.10.
My wifi/WLAN does not detect (as in pop up and say its found a network) any AP's. I manually eneter my AP (WPA-PSK), and the details, but the AP is shown as unavailable. When I manually try to connect - the status shows connecting, the wlan icon does its little aniumation, and it comes back as unavailable in about 3-4 seconds. Yes I have double checked the AP and the key.
I have tried the various combinations on the forum of flight mode off, wlan on / BT on / power settings / delete and re-enter settings etc etc. - but these make no difference to the WLAN. Note that WiFiFoFum *does* see the AP.
Any update or pointers appreciated, and any way I can help I will.
Thanks.

I think there is def a range issue too. I have two m3100s in front of me.. One connects fine, (wm5) and the upgraded one doesn't detect the network.. If I move into the same room, then they both connect, however the connection is cutting off on the wm6 version or just won't connect or even freezes for long periods of time.....
Also it appears that when you turn the wireless on on the comm manager it doesn't actually turn on the wifi card however as always this is an intermittent fault

Hi TroyDoogle7, (were there really TroyDoogles 1-6? - or does the 7 mean something ;-)
I dont think its a range issue (for me) - as I can be right beside the router, and no joy. Also - as I mentioned before - WiFiFoFum *can* see the AP - so the WLAN is working to some extent (prob h/w) - but the s/w cannot manage the connection (?)
My AP is a Linksys WRT300N (802.11b/g/n - with n disabled). I have seen some other reports that DHCP is an issue..................
stop..... hang on ... youre not going to beleive this...I just went to test by setting a static IP, and noticed that the AP was shown as available? i clicked connect, and it connected straight away?
The only thing I have done since this morning - is install the latest WiFiFoFum (released today after a release yesterday), used it to set power on, and did a scan.
Seems to be working fine - connecting to the WiFi - browsing, and syncing (I use exchange server sync) - in preference to the HSDPA connection too.
Hmmm... will keep the post up to date if it all goes wrong again.... Strange one this...

Further to my last post - i am now pretty certain that the issue with th wifi/WLAN is something to do with the power on / off status being confused on the device. I notice that If I use the Comm manager to power wifi on - the icon shows in the taskbar - but in WLAN settings page - the device thinks the wifi is still off. Also - when clicking the wifi icon to show the connectivity in the taskbar - I get the "Wifi off" button with a black border, but if I click hide and do it again - I get the MS native option to "Turn on wifi" (as an underlined clickable option)..
Hence I think the power status of the wifi is confused. If amyone has sussed out how to fix this - then please post.

As soon as I went to Black Satin / the official ROM build - the WiFi issue doesnt exist. All fixed, and much more stable than before.

not true. I prefer the BLACK V3.0.1. he is the only rom that not stack , no go to sleep and never wake up again. I tried Satin. Its nice but not the BLACK V3
any way, if you put DNS adress on the router and static IP , it will work fine. but It's not solving the reall problem. if anyone knows , I will be greatfull.

Sorry Shlomshi - but are you calling me a liar? Your arrogance astounds me.
It is most certainly true, that I do not have any WiFi issues since I upgraded to Satin. Neither do I have any Sleep and or wake up issues. Satin is also the most stable ROM I have had from JJ, as it the official ROM with a 'Black' coating and apps on it.
Thank you for your advice on setting a DNS server and static route on my gateway - i can state that that would achieve absolutely nothing. Also - as an infrastructure technical architect for more than 5 years architecting multi £m infrastructures for corporates and government - I dont need to be told that entering a DNS setting will make everything 'work fine'.
Thank you (?)

I am surtenly not calling you a lier. But I think that the BLACK SATIN is havier, and not everyone like all the aplications in there. I am not say it's not a good rom, But me and many others like the old one and try to solve the the problem and not with flashing new rom.
youre answer not giving a good solusion, you r giving an alternative.
there r many ones that like the V3.0.1 rom and try to solve a problem on that rom.
and the DNS and static IP is not a solusion , it's an "delay" to temporary solusion that i found. and you dont need to attac somone who tryied sometiong and wrote about it, so save you tone. what you r doing by attaking me it's really no proffesional man. and not everyone think what you think.! so you can write your opinion , dont attac

Hi after upgrade to Black Satin I have no problem connecting to my home password protected WIFI network but have no idea how to set the settings that I can use it !!!!
On an unsecured network I can connect to internet sites and everything
- but with my secure network at home after connecting to wifi I cannot connect to internet sites at all.
Any ideas or people with the same issue who solved it I would appreciate how you did it.
